Chapter Text
The room was full of people. That was something Rain was used to but didn’t enjoy. It was stuffy, everyone was talking over each other, and they were sweating in their fancy clothes during this very humid and very hot summer evening. He forgot the point of this ball. It was probably just another cause for charity. The rich would do anything to feel good about themselves.
Every guest was an important figure today. Celebrities, politicians, investors but most of all, the hunters. Not just any hunters. The strongest of them all. Rain could see Dagan the Bandit, Robert the King Killer, Ophelia the Golden Goddess and many more. Such pompous titles, he thought. They were all world-renown hunters known for completing many missions flawlessly and even surviving some of those deadly S-class missions. But no one else in this room compered to those two… The blonde dragon-shifter and the white-haired mage. Rain could feel all eyes in the room curiously shifting in the direction of the greatest hunters in human history.
“Excuse me…” Rain turned to the man that just spoke. He saw him holding an empty wine glass.
“Oh, sorry about that, sir. Here you go.” Rain hurriedly poured the wine and stalked away to serve some more people in need of a refill. He wasn’t attending this event because he was some amazing bigshot. No, he was just a lowly handler. Although, he wasn’t even a handler now; he was just a busboy here to make some money on the side. A busboy at this freak show where everyone dressed just to flaunt their wealth. Really, it seemed as though everyone threw away the concept of fashion and just put on their most expensive clothing items.
He really needed to stop judging people and focus on his own priorities. There. That door. He needed to get to it. And he would get to it. Later in the evening though. Now, he had some egos to please.

A week later, Rain was requested as a handler for a job.
