Chapter Text

Everyone knows the watchers, the most powerful of beings and those who rule over all others. They originated as regular avians but after receiving powers from the moon they became higher beings.

After many centuries of them ruling over the most peaceful times we have experienced their numbers began to dwindle as watchers were born with less and less powers.

They are created by pure energy given by two watchers to make a third. However, due to the lessening powers less were able to be made until finally there were only two watchers left.

In a desperate act to carry on their reign, the two chose another Avian and embewing him with their power. This new watcher, Xelqua, became famous throughout the lands, people worshipped him, viewing him as a good omen, a sign of new hope. He became more loved than the pure watchers themselves.

After a few years of Xelqua training as the watchers prince it was decided that he was to be wed. The watchers gathered the leaders of each of the ruling families and decided who was to be Xelqua’s betrothed.

——

Scar ran through the streets, ducking and weaving amongst the different people. The mask was uncomfortable on his face and his hood kept almost falling off. ‘Just a few more miles’ he thought if he could only make it a few more miles he’d be fine.

He came to a part of the city which he knew well. Reaching a part which he’d often run to when being chased, he ducked into an alley between two abandoned buildings and began to climb the pipes which ran up the side of building’s wall.

Reaching the top he rolled through a half shattered dusty window. He hid inside hearing the guards dart by on the street outside. He let out a sigh of relief as he pulled down the stuffy mask and breathed heavily. He untied the neck lace that held up his short hooded cloak, letting it fall to the floor.

Once he fully regained his breath he began his descent to the lower floors. Pushing open the creaking doors he casually made his way down the street, in the sunlight he was reviled to have messy brown hair that went just past his shoulders and varying degrees of scars runnin down his face. The most notable aspects of his appearance though were his two pointed ears, and vivid green eyes defining him as a member of the eleven kingdom.

After a while of walking he finally reached his destination, a massive marble stone palace with an ornate metal gate guarding the entrance. Metal bluebells, the sign of the eleven empire, entangled the gate in front of scar.

“Master scar”

Scar sighed as he turned to see who was shouting. Just as he suspected two guards were running up behind him wearing traditional royal elf armour.

“Your highness where have you been,” he hated when people called him that, it sounded so formal.
“Hi guys,” he responded through gritted teeth.
“Your mother has been looking everywhere for you”. ‘Great’, scar thought, it was never a good sign when his mother was looking for him.

Begrudgingly, Scar followed them up towards the throne room. He stepped in and walked up to where his mother sat on an ornate silver incrusted throne. He felt the red silk carpet cushion each of his steps as he walked.

As he reached the point he took a deep bow.
“Greetings mother.” He said, his voice riddled with false respect.
“What are you wearing?!” She replied in an incredulous tone. “You do realise we have a social appearance to uphold.”
‘Great here she goes again’. Scar hated being the Elvan prince, it really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

“As you know”, she began staring down her nose at her son , “our family is currently experiences some… difficulties.” Scar smirked secretly ‘that’s an understatement’.
“We have tried very hard In order to hide this from those in the kingdom and the other ruling families,” she continued, “but you will be glad to know that we have a solution.” Scar straightened, excited and wary at the same time. His mother cleared her throat, “we have entered into a political agreement with the watchers.”

Scar was too shocked to move or speak, ‘The watchers?! If they had an alliance with them all their problems would vanish.’ Scar was about to celebrate when he stopped. He stared at his mother, fear in his eyes.

“What agreement?” He asked, fear causing his voice to shake.
“A marriage agreement.” She responded firmly. “Scar, you are being married to the youngest watcher, the king of a new dawn, the prince Zelqua.”
