Chapter Text
“Have you really not noticed?” A voice spoke into your ear. “How different you have become, my child.” The voice, a woman’s, chuckled. “You’ll see soon enough.”
“Lilith,” you gasped, sitting up in alarm.
“Wat’s’it?” Mammon slurred, face still pressed to the pillow, hair sticking up every which way.
You took a deep gulp of breath, swinging your legs over the side of the bed. “It’s nothing, love, go back to sleep.”
Mammon hummed something unintelligible, already halfway back asleep.
Picking up your pants from where you’d thrown them on the floor the night prior and digging through the pockets, you procured your DDD. Scrolling through the contacts as you walked down to the kitchen, you clicked on Solomon’s face and hit call.
“Hello, love,” he answered, voice still gruff with sleep. “To what do I owe the honor?”
You huffed, throwing open the door to the fridge and grabbing the orange juice, taking a swig straight from the carton. “I had another one of those dreams.”
Solomon hummed in understanding, and you heard the crinkling of sheets as he sat up to pay attention. “You think she's trying to tell you something?”
“Yeah, she said something about how I’d understand soon this time, which is ominous as fuck.”
“Maybe this distance will do you some good,” he suggested thoughtfully.
“You’re just saying that because you get to monopolize my time in the human realm,” you teased.
You could practically hear him pouting through the phone. “Can you blame me?” He whined. “I never get to spend time with my favorite apprentice.”
“I see our Tuesday lunch dates mean nothing to you,” you huffed teasingly.
Solomon let out what he would later deny being a giggle. “You know I love our lunch dates.” He paused, letting out a little embarrassed puff of air. “I love you .”
“I love you more,” you said softly, grinning from ear to ear.
“Gross,” Belphegor said, suddenly standing in the doorway.
Startled, you chucked the phone in his direction, feeling as if you had jumped a foot in the air. “Fuck! Belphie! Don’t scare me like that!”
Belphegor knelt, picking up your poor, abused DDD. “You dropped this,” he smirked.
You could just barely make out Solomon’s concerned voice, asking what was happening, as you snatched the device back. “Sorry, Sol,” You soothed. “Belphie scared the shit out of me.”
“As he is prone to doing,” Solomon said, amusement clear in his tone. “Tell that motherfucker I said hello. I gotta run, Luke’s screaming about something. Love you, bye.”
“I will, love you,” you said in lieu of a goodbye, ending the call sadly. “Solomon says hello, motherfucker,” you said, turning to Belphegor still leaning in the doorway.
Belphie grinned, all sharp teeth and no real humor. “Next time you see him, tell him I’m reserving next Tuesday’s lunch time.”
“Belphie,” you pleaded, walking towards him with your hands raised like you were approaching a wild animal. “You know that’s not fair.” You wrapped your arms tight around him, running a hand softly through his hair.
He sighed, melting into your embrace. “He shouldn’t be allowed to hog you all the time!” He whined, nuzzling his face into your neck.
“Belphie,” you said again. “If anyone around here hogs my attention, it’s you and you know it.” You scratched gently at his scalp, a smile growing on your face as you realized he was purring.
“Let’s go to your room,” he suggested, managing to look up at you through his lashes despite his height.
“Mammon’s in there,” you warned, stroking a hand gently down his cheek.
Belphie pouted, whining. “Kick him out then!”
“Belph,” you said sternly enough that he straightened his posture reflexively.
“Fine,” he said petulantly, sticking his tongue out.
“Real mature,” you retorted, rolling your eyes.
It was then that Asmo flounced into the room, a beauty mask still painted onto his delicate face. “Good morning, hon,” he said, leaning in for a kiss before remembering he had stuff all over his face and pulling back at the last second. “Are you almost packed for your trip, my dearest Persephone?”
You snorted at the reference, before drawing his hand up to your mouth so you could kiss his knuckles. “Does that make you my Hades, then, princess?” You said in lieu of a real answer.
He flushed beneath the mask, darting his eyes away as he flustered.
“Gross,” Belphie muttered on his way out the door.
“I suppose that means you have not packed?” Lucifer said as a greeting, resisting the urge to smile at seeing you, sleep rumpled and soft as you were.
“If I can help it, I won’t be there long enough to need all of my stuff,” you shrugged, reluctantly dropping Asmo’s hand. “You know how much I hate leaving.”
Lucifer visibly softened at that, reaching out to draw you into his arms. “I know, darling. But Lord Diavolo insists you must,” Lucifer rolled his eyes as you interrupted him.
“Retain my humanity, I know,” you insisted. “I love that man, I just wish I had more time to love him with.”
Lucifer sighed, running a thumb gently over your knuckles. “I know darling, we all wish for that.”
Mammon stumbled into the room then, pants less, breaking up the tension. “What?” He grumbled as you all laughed.
