Fireworks At Disney World

Summary:

The class is gifted a trip to Disney World as a graduation present. Katsuki and Hitoshi find themselves alone together wandering the World Showcase.

Notes:

Hi! I really hope you enjoy your gift! I recently went to Disney World and so I wanted to bring that excitement into a fic. I really hope I did Katsuki & Hitoshi proud.

Work Text:

“I can’t believe we’re at Disney World!” Denki shouted. Denki gabbed at Katsuki’s arm but he resisted.  “Kacchan! Come with me to the world pavilion! I heard the Japan world has a lot of anime merch!”

“Why the hell would you go to the Japan section!?” Katsuki shouted as they walked into the front entrance of Disney World. “I’m not going there!”

“Come on, bro! We can talk in Japanese to someone!” Eijirou said, throwing his arm around Katsuki’s shoulder.

“I did not fly halfway around the Earth to go to Japan,” Katsuki murmured to himself. He didn’t want to be by himself though.

“Bro, you’re gonna love it” Eijirou called back to Katsuki. He grumbled as he walked behind the pair. The rest of their friends had split up and were all over Epcot. He wasn’t sure how he ended up with these two. Sero and Mina had run off to Mexico to get drunk and Katsuki didn’t feel like drinking. Deku was with his followers and they’d gone on the Spaceship Earth. Iida said they had to do ‘the classic ride that represents the park.’

Katsuki followed the pair as they passed the other countries. He wanted to look around and actually see the things that were represented.

“There’s a Pagoda!” Denki smiled and turned back to Katsuki. He smiled as the pair ran off. Katsuki slowly meandered into the area.

“I don’t see the appeal of seeing fake Japan.” Katsuki turned to see Hitoshi walking up to him.

“That’s what I said,” Katsuki said, “The two wanted to get anime merch.”

“I know Kirishima was looking for any Crimson Riot merch.” Hitoshi drawled. Katsuki rolled his eyes and turned to walk past the Japan area. “Come on.”

“Oh am I your puppy now?” Hitoshi said while Katsuki ignored him and texted Eijirou. Hitoshi shrugged, put his hand in his pockets and walked next to Katsuki.

Katsuki lead them back to the beginning of the World Showcase, starting with Mexico.

“Ooh, we grabbing Margaritas?” Hitoshi asked, sounding almost excited.

“Not exactly,” Katsuki said. He walked straight towards the entrance to a ride. Katsuki didn’t say anything as the signs for Donald Duck and the Three Caballeros. Hitoshi’s expression was priceless. If Katsuki wasn’t trying to not make a big deal out of his crush deciding to join him while wandering Disney Fucking World, then Katsuki would’ve pointed it out.

“You look like a kid on Christmas,” Katsuki said, he couldn’t hold it in. He expected Hitoshi to close down again. To become his closed off self. He did reign in the joy a little, but not completely.

“Did you know I love Donald Duck, or was this a lucky accident?” Hitoshi said, his voice teasing. He still had a small smile on his face.

As the pair waited in line, they chatted. How was your flight? Bumpy as hell. Did the hero Commission spring for first class for the top three? No. Do they really think this makes up for all of the bullshit they went through in their first year, and each subsequent year? No, but it’s a start.

“I, for one, would love to spend all the Commissions fucking money and make sure they can’t try to become a world super power again. I can do my hero work without them, thank you very much.” Katsuki said, his passion for hero work spilling out. Hitoshi for his part didn’t tease.

“At least the hero commission will recognize you. To work in some of the undercover ops I have to do, I need to not be associated with them,” Hitoshi grumbled, “Technically I’m not here. Aizawa pulled some strings. They wanted to send only the graduates who signed with hero agencies. Technically the underground network isn’t an agency. More like a poorly organized set of people who kinda cover each other’s backs. Kinda.”

“That’s bullshit!” Katsuki raged, “You deserve this trip as much as the rest of us. I don’t know what those office extras are thinking! You have gone through just as much as any of us.”

Hitoshi put his hand on Katsuki’s shoulder and squeezed. Katsuki froze, his anger settling down. He looked up and saw Hitoshi had a slight blush on his cheeks. It is hot in Florida though. He’s probably overheating.

The pair rode the boat around Mexico, looking for each Donald animatronic. They laughed and joked until the ride was over.  They wandered the rest of the Mexico exhibit. Katsuki read the history when they found a small exhibit. He went to each plaque and looked at the small variety of items. Hitoshi came in the exhibit with Katsuki, but went the other way. He wandered a bit more, only stopping at items that intrigued him. The pair met again at the exit.

“Where to next?” Hitoshi asked. Katsuki pulled out his map.

“Looks like Norway is next,” Katsuki said as he walked out of the Mexico area. Hitoshi followed dutifully.

The pair looked at the line for the the Frozen ride and mutually turned away. They went into a small exhibit about Norse gods. Once again Katsuki meticulously read each bit of information as Hitoshi wandered. He occasionally stood with Katsuki, reading the sign about Loki and the trick of the mistletoe, before wandering off once again. It was a small exhibit, but Katsuki didn’t feel rushed, like he might have if he was here with Eijirou or Denki who would want to go on the more intense rides. He loved his friends, no matter how much he argued the opposite outwardly, but sometimes Katsuki just needed some quiet time. Plus he loved learning. It was a struggle between him, Deku and Iida for top spot in the class throughout the years.

As Katsuki got to the door, Hitoshi was suddenly beside him. The pair left the small exhibit and looked around the Norway area. It looked so different from anything they’d experienced in Japan, but also so different from the Mexico section they just left, as well as the rest of the park.

“Duck Tales!” Hitoshi shouted, making Katsuki jump and clench his hands. He didn’t need his quirk here. They were highly recommended to not be used on Disney property. “Sorry, just there’s more of the duck tales crew.”

Hitoshi pointed to a spot where the three mini duck animatronics chased each other. Katsuki found a cast member who was standing near it.

“Yo, what’s that?” Katsuki asked in his accented English. It turns out it was a scavenger hunt throughout the park. The cast member proceeded to show him and Hitoshi how they could interact with the Duck Hunt throughout the World Showcase. Hitoshi set his phone up and immediately did everything the cast member told them. Then he dragged them back to Mexico to find the duck hunt there.

“Where’s next?” Hitoshi asked as they were passing by Norway once again. They quickly made it to the China area. The transition was still jarring, but Katsuki was getting used to it.

The rest of their day proceeded like that. They would find the historical exhibits within each country and then search for the McDuck family animatronics. Whenever Hitoshi’s phone buzzed to mark their success, Katsuki just stared at Hitoshi’s proud face. He was just excited to be hanging out with Hitoshi. And it was going wonderfully. The pair would snark about people they saw. Pointing out extras who were having a rather good or bad time. Making up stories about them.

They wandered all the way around the World Showcase. They even went into the Japan area and were pleasantly surprised. They’d had to as one of the scavenger hunt spots was in Japan. Katsuki enjoyed reading the Japanese history that the tourists could learn. He was proud of his culture being represented. They also stopped to eat in the Japan area.

“Don’t tell Denks or Ei. They’ll never let me live it down,” Katsuki muttered. It was nice to talk to the wait staff in Japanese, and eat some familiar food. And also see what Americans enjoyed about Japanese culture.

They eventually made it all the way around the World Showcase. They saw some classmates here and there, but for the most part it was just the two of them.

“Kaachan!” Katsuki heard his name being shouted at him. He turned to see Denki and Eijirou calling out to them, “Hitoshi!”

Without even thinking Katsuki grabbed Hitoshi’s hand and pull him along into the Figment ride. They laughed once they stopped running. The adrenaline was flowing through them. They noticed their hands were still together before pulling back. They both laughed awkwardly.

The line for the Figment ride was the first real bit of awkwardness between the pair. Hitoshi let Katsuki get on the ride first and made sure to keep some space between them. Katsuki’s heart dropped. He barely paid attention to the ride. Obviously Hitoshi wasn’t interested and he thought Katsuki was crossing the line. He decided when they got off he’d find Ei and let Denki take over hanging out with Hitoshi.

When the ride let out the pair moved silently out of the building. Eijirou and Denki were standing outside of the exit.

Denki ran up to Hitoshi and gave him a big leaping hug.

“I’m so proud of you man. You finally asked him on–” Denki’s words were cut off but Katsuki was determined to separate from the pair.

“Come on, Shitty Hair,” Katsuki yelled as he stomped away. Hitoshi didn’t follow. That hurt Katsuki more than he expected it to.

“You okay, man?” Eijirou asked as they wandered the aquarium exhibit. Katsuki went to each sign as usual but he wasn’t reading. His eyes couldn’t focus.

“Kats,” Eijirou said, “Are you alright? It seemed like you and Hitoshi were having a great date.”

That’s what broke him. Eijirou knew of Katsuki’s crush on Hitoshi. In an uncharacteristic move, Katsuki just let the tears flow. He wanted to shout and rage. He wanted to punch and kick. But he was at Disney World, the Happiest Place on Earth. Eijirou bundled him up and moved them to a side that was sort of clear.

Katsuki didn’t let the tears flow too long.

“He’s not interested. It’s whatever.” Katsuki wiped his eyes, but his hands in his pockets and started for the exit.

“They fuck he isn’t?” Eijirou called after Kats. He looked guiltily around himself, but remembered most children here didn’t know Japanese. “Hitoshi has been following you around like a love sick puppy all day. Denks said that was the happiest he’s seen Hitoshi since he found out he got into the hero course.”

“Were you spying on me!?” Katsuki was offended. His friends probably didn’t trust him to not start a fight. Like he wanted to be banned for life. Although at this rate, it would forever remind him of Hitoshi, and maybe he should get banned. So he can never come back and remember what a fool he’d been.

“No! Denki and I just happened to pass by you on a couple of occasions. You both didn’t even see us, you were so absorbed in each other.” Eijirou said. He maneuvered Katsuki to sit and faced him. His best friend looked so earnest. Katsuki was finding it hard to not believe Eijirou.

“But then why would he pull away from me?” Katsuki grumbled, done with the sad feelings and back to the angry.

“When?” Eijirou asked.

“When we got in that stupid purple dragon ride.” Katsuki said.

“After you guys held hands? He probably got scared. It’s not everyday Bakugou Katsuki holds someone’s hand.”

“Not this again,” Bakguou grouched.

“It’s true and you know it. He probably got scared but if you’re honest with him, tell him you like him and want to have his babies.”

“EI!” Bakugou shouted. Eijirou just laughed.

“All I’m saying is talk to him. Be a man and let your feelings out! If he actually turns you down then we can buy some mickey ice cream sandwiches and scream in the Guardians ride.”

Katsuki sighed. He knew Eijirou was right. It was either that or never speak to the man again. And he knew that there would be too many class a parties for the rest of their lives. He was going to see Hitoshi again, one way or another.

Katsuki stood, preparing to go find Hitoshi. The search was shorter than expected. Hitoshi marched up to Katsuki.

“I have some–” Katsuki wasn’t able to finish his sentence as he was suddenly pulled into Hitoshi’s arms and kissed. The kiss was nothing like Katsuki expected it to be and so much better! It sent a jolt of excitement through his body. Fireworks behind his eyes. The happiness filled him. He let himself be embraced, even as they pulled apart. When he was sure he could stand, Hitoshi pulled his arms away but didn’t take a step back.

“Denki convinced me, I’m in America and should do what the Americans do. But now I can see how much of a bad idea that was. I’m sorry I just invaded your space. I just needed you to know how I felt. I’m sure you don’t feel the same. I mean I hope you feel the same, but–”

“Shut up,” Katsuki said before pulling Hitoshi’s back towards himself. He gave Hitoshi another kiss, this time he was leading.

“Damn, how much do I owe you?” Eijirou asked Denki. The question made the pair pull apart.

“You BET on my Love life!?” Katsuki yelled. The pair of friends smiled and tried to be placating.

“Just how long it would take y’all to finally confess,” Denki said, as if that would make it better.

“Yeah, and you shouldn’t be mad at me, man. I was betting you’d make the first move. You are so manly, I knew you could do it.” Eijirou tried to calm Katsuki.

The thing that actually calmed Katsuki down was Hitoshi laughing behind him. Katsuki turned to see Hitoshi belly laughing.

“What are you laughing at?” Katsuki asked Hitoshi, who hadn’t stopped laughing.

“Just how apparently obvious we were.”

Katsuki continued to yell at all of them, but they all knew it was Katsuki’s yells that meant he was covering up his embarrassment but was having a good time. Hitoshi took Katsuki’s hand as they walked towards where they were supposed to meet to watch the fireworks with the rest of the class.

When they joined the group, no one said anything about Hitoshi and Katsuki holding hands. However, Katsuki saw Deku smiling at him. He scoffed before he smiled back to his friend.

Katsuki squeezed Hitoshi’s hand. Hitoshi looked over at him and the pair smiled at each other.

“Excited for the fireworks?” Hitoshi asked.

“I already got the best ones today, but these will be a close second.” Katsuki said right as the first explosion went off in the air. The pair kissed in front of the exploding colors.
