Chapter Text
The sound of your bare feet hitting the ground harshly could be heard as you sprinted from behind a large neatly trimmed hedge. You ran into small room filled with retro arcade games, them beeping and buzzing noisily.
You ran your hand down the side of a particular one which matched one you used to play when you were a kid at your local arcade center.
This is so fucked.
You shook your head, half smiling as you lowered your head to look at the nalstogic carpet and its patterns. You quietly made your way to a pinball machine and crouched down on your knees, wiggling your way under it, peeking occasionally at the doorways.
Home...
You were a fresh and new survivor, with only a handful of trials under your belt. You recalled the moment you were taken, though you still referred to it as being 'abudcted'.
Aliens. Definitely aliens. It finally happened, wait until I'm returned and I tell Charlie...she's gonna flip her fucking lid.
You covered your mouth with your hand, stifling a laugh.
It's definitely some kind of simulation...a very real and painful simulation...
You remembered the moment you were abudcted clear as day. You and your best friend Charlie had indulged in a different strain of cannabis laced with a substance she promised would make you feel godlike. She swore up and down it was the most pure she had obtained from a friend that got it from another friend. You were both struggling to pay the rent at the time and had spent all day prior searching for any jobs that would take you, and you needed to unwind.
It wasn't ideal. You did at one point have big plans for yourself - well your dad did anyway. You had made it to your sophomore year in college before dropping out. The pressure from your dad to finish a degree that you didn't even want had finally caught up and broke you. It had been a year since then and you had experimented with many different types of drugs, searching for a high that you could never quite reach.
You raised your eyebrows as you continue to crouch under the pinball machine.
It was a good high...ill admit...
You recalled though, after you both were passed out on the floor, both on different planets, that your mind suddenly went blank and you felt your entire being, being pulled into what felt like a void or a vacuum. Last thing you knew you woke up groggily near a campfire in some random woods to three other people staring at you with pity.
Though you believed you had been abducted by aliens that in your own words were "bored", there was something about the place that felt ancient. You believed you would wake up soon in your sad apartment with the worst hangover you'd ever had.
The sound of a generator went off in the distance and you peeked at the doorways again.
They definitely did their research too.
Though these trials did terrify you, admiditly, you were fascinated with them. The killers you had seen so far were horrifying and horrendous, one of them being someone you recognized from home. Myers.
Michael fucking Myers.
You couldn't beleive it, smiling again in disbelief.
You had been an avid horror and true crime fan since you were a teen. You knew every horror movie and serial killer and often could be found with ear buds shoved in your ears, listening to mystery or true crime podcasts. You definitely were odd, preferring the darker and mysterious side of life, often bored and annoyed with most people....except Charlie.
I miss you Char, you better not be eating my leftovers...
There was suddenly screaming that came from just outside of the arcade room and panicked footsteps could be heard approaching.
You gripped the legs of the pinball machine, afraid. Though you believed this was a simulation, it did not ease the fear that was instilled in you from the very real and very painful suffering you had already experienced from Killers.
You slowly crawled out from under the pinball machine towards the door, cranking your neck to get a better view. You watched as a survivor you knew as Feng Min, one of your campfire team members, holding her side hobbling away leaving an obvious trail of blood. She looked behind her and you followed her gaze but saw nothing.
She hobbled over to a large bush and rock, carefully kneeling down on one knee, continuing to hold her side while also keeping her eyes to the ground.
You tilted your head, confused, wondering why she was not looking around for the killer that clearly had injured her recently. You squinted your eyes behind her as a dark shadow seemed to grow in height above her, Feng Min being completely oblivious.
What the...
You squinted hard as you saw the figure become more clear as it emerged from the shadows behind Feng Min. Your eyes widened slowly as you observed the familiar white mask with three gaping black voids for a face, come into view. Your jaw slowly fell as your eyes trailed down the figures body, it being completely black save the shining blade in it's hand, which it gripped at its side.
No. Fucking. Way.
You gasped, flinching slightly as you watched the Ghostface insert his blade with ease into Feng Mins lower back, causing her to cry out in a high pitch voice.
You stared in awe as you observed the Ghostface hover over her for a few seconds, him clearly enjoying her pained cries.
Your eyes followed him as he bent over picking Feng Min up with one arm, slinging her over his shoulder effortlessly. She flailed and kicked like all survivors do, trying to get out and away by any means necessary.
Your heart was thumping loudly in your ears as you knew this Killer and his lore, before being abducted.
The corners of your lips raised as your mouth was still agape, you seeing yet another notorious killer, one of your favorites.
Charlie is not gonna beleive me, there is no way. Recalling how you both would wear Scream masks for almost every Holloween.
You suddenly felt your legs moving, trying to keep him in view as he carried Feng Min to a nearby hook. You scuttled quickly behind a large dumpster making sure to stay out of sight. You wet your lips as your eyes trailed down to his boots. He looked just like he did in the articles you had researched online, dating back to the 90s. He was a classic, one to be feared and you understood why these aliens would implement him in a simulation to mess with humans for their entertainment.
A journalist who went off the deep end. Poetic.
You watched as the Ghostface hooked Feng Min and she screamed loud, it reverberating throughout the surrounding trees. The Ghostface then turned his head to the side, unmoving. You watched him as you peeked around the dumpster and you felt he was aware of your presence.
He suddenly turned around facing your direction and you gulped, scrambling behind the dumpster, your chest heaving. You pressed your back against it, your ears straining for movement but you heard none. You breathed through your nose as you slowly went to peek from behind the dumpster to see Feng Min swaying in the air, still on hook but no Ghostface.
You swallowed as you went to go rest your back against the dumpster again but froze as you saw something in your peripheral. Slowly, you turned your head to the side to be met with the Ghostface inches from you, hunched over slightly, staring.
You were frozen in fear and awe, unable to move. You felt a tingling sensation throughout your entire body that you had never felt before. You watched him insert his blade in your side but you did not react as you continue to stand there, shocked. You then fell instantly, clutching your side aware of the pain now.
You rolled on your back as he approached you slowly, hovering over you now, staring down. You watched him wipe his blade against his sleeve as he observed your expression.
"Holy shit just like the articles described..." You whispered through a pained laugh.
You winced at your fresh wound, clutching it even tighter with your hands. The Ghostface continue to stand over you and you were dying to know what he was thinking.
"I...I want to say I'm a big fan of yours, but you're trying to kill me at the moment...well...sacrifice me? I'm still trying to understand this whole sim." You smiled sheepishly, your teeth bloody now.
The Ghostface continued to stare, his arms to his sides.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" He said, his voice low.
You giggled as his voice was how you'd imagined it would sound and you had to close your legs.
"I know about you, I know all about you..." You groaned as your wound was throbbing now.
You heard him chuckle darkly. "Is that so..." And he suddenly bent over lifting you up with one arm around your waist, carrying you over his shoulder like every Killer you encountered so far did.
You gritted your teeth as the angle at which you were bent aggravated your side.
"Yeah...yeah I-" You groaned in pain as you tried to speak, your voice strained.
"....I do. I know you were a journalist turned serial murderer." You said smugly as you hung limp against him, and you noticed you werent trying to struggle. Your hands pressed flat against his upper back, feeling his muscles.
You heard him scoff as he adjusted his hand on your lower thighs, getting closer to a hook.
"Uh-huh. And I know your name too." You coughed against your pain, clenching your eyes shut now.
The Ghostface stopped suddenly in his tracks, right in front of a hook.
"You better be real careful what you say next." His tone was dark and filled with an evil that you knew was what made him the Ghostface.
You bit your lower lip as you felt his gloved hands grip your thighs, wanting them to go higher up your skirt.
"Mouth zipped, our secret." You coughed again and blood splashed from your lips.
You suddenly felt yourself being thrown back onto a hook and your breath was instantly lost, unable to scream from the sheer pain. You were still getting used to the hooks and had the fortunate luck of not being sacrificed yet, though you had heard it is extremely unpleasant from the other survivors. Something about how the aliens actually feed off of your suffering.
Sick little guys, aren't they? You had thought.
You gripped the hook instinctively as it's rusty steel went through your back and out your upper chest. When you finally caught your breath you opened your eyes to see the Ghostface was standing in front of you, staring.
"You talk a lot...even for me." And he turned on his heels, crouching out of view.
If it wasn't for the pain you would have laughed.
Another generator went off and again, you found yourself unable to track how many were complete. As you hung there in the air your recalled how you were never really good at things that required you to focus, especially things you were not interested in. However, you were good at going through the motions. Though you had only had a handful of trials, you realized rather quickly how you almost dreaded generators. You found them boring and often blew them, usually paired with a dissapointed look from a fellow survivor.
You really didn't find yourself thriving in any areas as of yet. Generators, rescuing, or running the killer. You performed poorly with all of them and mostly just remained hidden, out of sight.
You were brought out of your thoughts from feeling yourself being lifted off the hook gently. You clutched your side, sucking air through your teeth.
"Another survivor I havent seen before, there seems to be an influx ever since the chunk that went missing. I'm Elodie, let's get you healed up."
Elodie placed her hand on your lower back, leading you into a theatre. You inhaled deeply at the smell of popcorn and sweets, smiling.
"The tech they have to replicate this must be ball busting..." You said as Elodie led you into the theatre room.
Elodie brought you to a stop in one of the corners of the screening room, carefully scanning the area for any danger. She then brought her attention to you and gestured you to bend over.
"Tech?" She snickered, shrugging her shoulders as she worked on your mending.
"Shit, honestly you're not wrong. She does mimic our world rather perfectly. Though I'll see mistakes once in a while, it's eerie."
You bit your cheek, confused at her statement.
"You've seen the aliens?" You asked as you remain bent over.
Elodie stifled a laugh, trying to remain quiet.
"I don't think there are any aliens in Her realm, not that I know of anyway. God I hope not..." And she guided you up, patting your shoulder.
"I'm going to guess you haven't gone against this killer yet. He is the Ghostface, known for his stealth and marking abilities. Be careful not to look at him directly when he is cloaked, it will give away your position, though you will find it may be helpful for you. It's a judgment call. Just remain hidden for now, alright?" She smiled at you and you put out a fist for her to bump.
She raised an eyebrow a your fist and awkwardly bumped it. You watched her go to the stairs to where the projector was located and heard her get to work on it.
Her? Is there a queen alien or what. You snickered.
Your gaze lifted to the giant screen that displayed a glitched clip, replaying the same scene over and over. You found the theatre comforting and didn't see the harm in taking a seat in one of the chairs, recognizing you've only been hooked once and the generators had to be almost done by now.
You carefully lowered yourself in the very end chair located farthest back from the screen, sinking in it comfortably. You ran your hand against the adjacent seats cushion, feeling it's fabric underneath.
Again you were impressed by the sheer detail of the simulation. You glanced at both the exits on either side, looking for movement of any kind. As you stared above at the giant screen your thoughts drifted once again.
I came face to face with the actual Ghostface himself. Or is it a replica? It doesn't really matter to be honest. He seems to be mentally stuck in the 90s. I bet he's got his staple camera with him...
The thought of him using his camera on you turned you on and you had to cross your legs, biting your lip. You sighed, closing your eyes.
You then slowly felt an arm reach from behind you and cold steel pressed against your throat. You opened your eyes, swallowing against the Ghostface blade.
"Oh...you are stealthy, she wasn't lying." You laughed nervously as you brought a hand slowly up to his which gripped the knifes handle.
You waited for him to kill you right where you sat with one swift movement of his blade but he did not.
You swallowed again, licking your lips. "This must be perfect for you, being able to kill to your hearts content." You were tempted to turn around but you felt you better not.
You waited for him to respond, wanting to hear his voice again.
"How...how long have you been in this sim?" You asked, immediately regretting it as you felt him press his blade harder against your throat and you breathed through your nose harshly.
You knew you were pushing it but you couldn't help yourself.
"Do you have your camera? I just know yo-" Your voice was cut off as his hand was now squeezing you by your throat from behind.
"Get up." He said coldly.
You stood from your seat as you remained facing away from him, the blue light of the screen feeling too bright now.
Suddenly you heard the buzzing sound of what you learned was the gates being opened somewhere in the distance, trying to take a mental note.
You both backed up slowly as he gripped your throat from behind and you suddenly felt yourself being slammed against a wall in the back of the theatre room.
The blow knocked the wind out of you and you reached up with both hands to grip his wrist, his hand still a vice around your throat.
You stared at him, feeling the full fear and malice he omitted, taking it in. You appreciated the horror that he gave off so naturally and effortlessly, and though you were indeed scared, you stared up at him with an expression bordering on admiration.
"You don't know anything about me. You think you're the first survivor to go claiming they knew of me outside of the Entity's realm?" He adjusted his grip around your throat causing you to lift your chin higher.
You looked at him slighlty confused. "No one seems to know anything about any of the classic icons here, outside of this sim. Not sure how they couldn't know about you though...you're the image of horror, the father of slashers."
He tilted his head before lowering his gaze to observe your body. You trembled slightly, it making complete sense to you that you would be. Your knees were bent inwards involuntary as you felt aroused and you blushed fiercely when you felt he noticed.
The Ghostface brought his blade down to your skirt with his free hand as he continue to pin you against the wall.
Oh fuck...
You heard him chuckle low, as he lifted the skirt up slightly with his blade watching your reaction. You gasped for air as he sqeezed his hand around your throat even tighter, not resisting in the least bit.
"You have a way with words. But im afraid your flattery has failed you." He said, dissapointed.
He then pulled his knife from under your skirt and inserted it in your lower abdomen, the sound of squelching filling the theatre room.
You stared at him with wide eyes, tears gathering from the pain. You gripped his wrist even tighter as a smile spread across your face.
"This feels so real...and it's by you...holy shit." You choked as your blood found its way up your throat again.
The Ghostface tilted his head leaning in closer and you felt like he was looking through you.
"Who the fuck are you?" He whispered, his voice again making your squirm under his grip.
"I told you...I'm a big fan." You said, spurts of blood splashing out of your mouth.
The Ghostface sighed, a mix of amusement and annoyance.
You felt him release his grasp around your throat and you crumpled to the floor on your knees. You raised your head to look up at him but he was gone, seemingly evaporated. The ground below you was shaking and you hadn't realized.
What the hell?
You felt a large crack with your fingers that you hadn't noticed before and it was hot to the touch, dark smoke and sparks shooting up from it and you wondered what it was.
Yeah, not sticking around to find out.
You gripped the wall behind you, pulling yourself with a pained groan, the movment sending a rush of seering hot pain from your wound. As you stumbled making your way to one of the exits of the theatre you panicked as you couldn't remember where the exit gates were. You grunted in frustration as you took off in a random direction. You brought your blood soaked hand up to your face and looked down at your wound, your shirt being soaked.
Oh that's not good.
"Girl, are you crazy!? You're lucky I waited for you. This way!"
You felt Elodie take ahold of your arm, helping you to the nearest gate. You stumbled multiple times, your vision blurring.
"Stay with me!" You heard her voice, it was distant now.
You then felt that familiar darkness surround you with the crackling sound of a large campfire in the distance. You had escaped.
