The sun filtered through Miri's curtains as the smell of french toast slowly pulled her out of sleep. Sitting up, she rubbed her eyes before silently stumbling towards her bathroom. Half asleep, she performed her morning routine that Rei and Kazuki taught her recently. Brushing her teeth, washing her face, brushing her hair, and then changing. After changing into her school clothes, she slowly made her way back to her room to make her bed before finally making her way down the staircase. Once she made it down the stairs, the feeling of her hair being ruffled woke her up completely. Looking up, she sees Rei looking at her with soft, comforting smile.
"Good morning, sleepyhead! Come and sit down, breakfast is ready!" Kazuki yells from the kitchen before turning around and looking at a sleepy Miri and an equally as sleepy looking Rei. A goofy smile appeared on Kazuki's face at the realization of Miri getting ready for school all by herself. "Miri! I can't believe you got ready all by yourself!" Kazuki said enthusiastically as he put the plates down on the table. "Yep! Good morning Kazuki-papa and Rei-papa! I did what you guys taught me!!" Miri smiled a big grin as she sat down ready to stuff her face full of French Toast. "Good job, Miri." Rei said in between scarfing down his breakfast. The three ate in pleasant chatter, mostly coming from Miri and Kazuki.

"It's always good for the parents if they got a date night in each month!" Anna-Sensei said cheerfully, pushing the two men out the daycare doors. "Hikari-san said she doesn't mind watching Miri-chan tonight! Please, Kazuki-papa and Rei-papa, enjoy your night out!" Anna-Sensei bowed before waiting for the two older men to get the hint and leave the daycare. The two left confused. They have just dropped off Miri at daycare, before getting pushed out the door by a chattering teacher talking about how they now have the night free. Not knowing what to do, they make their way to Yadorigi, the cafe Kugi runs, to find new tasks or missions to use their free time productively.
Entering the cafe, they sat down at the bar. "Look at what the cat dragged in. Already done with your previous task?" Kugi asked, cleaning the drinking glasses. "Yep. Do you have any high paying jobs that go into the night? We got the night free." Kazuki asked as he fiddled with the drink Kugi already prepared before they entered the building with a poorly concealed pout. "Usually parents are thrilled to have a night where their kids are away, but something tells me that you two don't seem as thrilled. You must be going soft, hehe." Kugi smirked with a chuckle before reaching for the box holding pending tasks. "Tell me Rei, when was the last time you two had some good quality time together?" Kugi asked as he filled through the different files. "Hmmmm....last night. Me and him where watching a show together after Miri went to bed. We have missions together all the time, that's sometimes fun." Rei smiles a little before looking at Kazuki quickly then at Kugi. Kugi noticing the quick glance lets out a fond sigh, "Then I have the perfect job for you two. Originally, me and my wife would have taken the job on since we can get babysitters. Since you two are free tonight, I think it's the perfect job." Kugi says placing the open case file in front of the two. "Take a look at what it entails and let me know if you want to take it on." Kugi says before turning around and messing with some of the things behind the bar. Kazuki and Rei lean in close to each other examining the file, which seems to be just a normal intel gathering operation. Go in, sit in front of the rich couple, wire tap them, listen into their conversations, start some if need be or addressed, stay till couple leaves. In and out job that requires a cover and that's it, or so it seems.
"So, the hostess will sit us in the booth in front of the couple, let us set in a wire tap, sit the Von Karma couple behind us, we listen to them till they leave?" Kazuki askes closing the file and leaning back in his chair. "That's right, but there is one important detail. The restaurant is a married couple only restaurant for tonight. Lucky for you, I have the fake documents here." Kugi places the documents on top of the file with a smirk. "WHAT?" Kazuki exclaimed his mouth wide open in shock. Rei's eyes widen in surprise, "But we don't have any wedding photos or rings." Rei pointed out, confused on how this was going to work. "Kazuki has wedding bands already." Kugi looked at Kazuki waiting for his answer. "We don't need to use those Kaz-" Rei was interrupted by Kazuki, "No, it's alright. It's only for a job right?" Kazuki looked at Rei who's eyes soften from worry to relief, then back to Kugi. "Unless you want to use them all the time, then no it won't be only for the job. That my friend, is called a proposal." Kugi said with a smirk as he filled out the agreement paperwork for them to take on the job. "THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEAN!!" Kazuki's face goes red as he yelled at Kugi, who only chuckled. Rei placed his hand on Kazuki's shoulder with a small smile. Letting out a sigh of defeat, he waited for Kugi to finish signing the paperwork.

"Rei, come here." Kazuki calls Rei over as they were getting ready to play the part of a couple. Hikari was already at Rei's and Kazuki's house hanging out and playing with Miri back downstairs. Since Rei's room got turned into Miri's room, Rei and Kazuki share a closet and now a bedroom, since Rei has stopped sleeping in the bathtub. They were getting dressed in their suits when Kazuki called Rei over to his vanity, where he kept his and Yuzuko's old rings. He gently took Yuzuko's ring, strangely warm, and slowly walked to where Rei was. Sitting down on the bed next to Rei, he slowly took Rei's hand and gently slipped the ring onto Rei's left ring finger. He smiled to himself, before looking at Rei's face. An unknown expression was on Rei's face, similar to one of content, but then again, who knows. Slowly getting back up, Kazuki walks over to his vanity and slips his ring on. They finish getting ready in a comfortable silence.
When it was time to leave, both Kazuki and Rei where down stairs saying their goodbyes. "Now, listen to what Hi-Chan has to say alright, Miri?" Kazuki bent down to Miri's level, ruffling her hair playfully. "Kay'! I will listen to Hi-Chan! Miri will be a good girl so Kazuki-papa and Rei-papa can have fun on their date!" Miri ran around the two playful before standing still. "There are numbers on the fridge to call if something happens and you can't get ahold of us." Rei chimed in messing with his tie, which wasn't lying still. "Okay!" Miri chimed back. Kazuki looked to see what all the shuffling Rei was doing to see him struggling with his tie. "Seriously, you could have told me that you were struggling with your tie." Kazuki turns to fix Rei's tie. Rei just stands there watching quietly as Kazuki worked. He looked at Kazuki's ring then at Yuzuko's now his for the night before bringing his hand up to Kazuki to see the rings next to each other. Kazuki's face goes red at the action but doesn't say anything. "Fufu~ my, my, you two better get going." Hikari laughs at the two's display of affection.

When the two arrived at the restaurant, the only thing they had to do was walk in holding hands and show the hostess the pin Kugi gave them earlier. The hostess took them to a booth in the back, to which they sat till the coast was clear. Then, they placed the wire trap. Soon enough, the Von Karma couple arrived. The rest of the night went by like usual for intel collection. And, if Kazuki had to be honest, he didn't mind people viewing him and Rei as a married couple. It filled him with a sense of pride he hasn't felt since Yuzuko's death, it warmed him, it felt natural. Speaking of natural, the "date" had felt just like that. The two where chatting all night long about Miri and her friends, pondering what they want to do when Miri gets older, suggesting schools to put Miri in, and life as a whole. It made Kazuki happy. The same could be said for Rei as well. If anyone asked, he would deny that he smiled that night; but if Kazuki asked, then maybe he smiled. Even if it was only a little bit.

After collecting the intel, they dropped off the recording at Yadorigi before going out to get some drinks, making them get home around 2 AM. They sluggishly removed their coat jackets and suits before changing into pj's and getting ready for bed. Soon, they fell asleep cuddled up together.
