Work Text:
Simon is not a hoarder.
His mother taught him not to be a hoarder, to basically always only stick to the necessary things. There was never too much stuff clogging up his room. All the clothes that were unfit for him anymore, no matter how sentimental he felt about some pieces, were to be given away, same with old toys. So, Simon never found himself possessing excess things, nothing more than he needed in the current moment.
But well now, he finds himself an owner of way too many hoodies.
Technically, they are not even his. But they are clogging up his drawers now.
And he just can’t seem to get rid of them. It would mean giving them back and well, Simon doesn’t feel too good with this thought.
Now as he thinks about it, it must have started with that stupid, orange sweater. Yes, Simon was missing his boyfriend, who technically wasn’t even his boyfriend at that time, so he snatched the thing. The fact that he’s forgotten to give it back since then is a totally different story. Back then, it was his only sort of connection to Wille. And he was desperately craving one, no matter how much he didn’t want to admit it.
But the collection of his boyfriend’s clothes in his bedroom has been growing. Honestly, it’s not his fault that Wille’s hoodies are just way more comfortable. It’s not even about the, probably expensive, material itself. It’s about how they’re slightly oversized on Simon, the sleeves being too long so he can hide his palm in them. The way they smell like Wille and feel like a hug from him. He doesn’t think he should be blamed for missing his boyfriend when he’s back home and trying to hold onto anything to get a sense of him.
He wonders if Wille has noticed his clothes disappearing but even if he has, he hasn’t complained.
And it’s not like he steals the hoodies, okay? Most of the time, it’s Wille who offers.
They’re studying in Wille’s room, both spread on opposite ends of the bed because if they’re too close to each other, the studying isn’t going too well. Simon’s been feeling a bit under the weather recently, a fact that he refuses to admit because he doesn’t want anyone fussing about him. Still, he finds himself wrapping his arms around him, feeling colder than he's probably supposed to at the beginning of spring.
“Are you cold?” Wille looks up from his notebook and eyes him carefully.
“No, it’s fine,” Simon shakes his head and offers a smile.
“No, you’re cold,” his boyfriend insists upon assessing him. He gets up from the bed and begins to rummage through his closet.
“Wille-”
“Here,” coming out of his search victorious, Wille strides back to the bed, now holding his grey Hillerska hoodie in hand “put this on,” he offers it to Simon, who looks a bit apprehensive at the beginning but eventually gives in.
“Thanks,” he mumbles as he pulls the hoodie over his head.
“Scoot over,” Wille urges that Simon make space on the bed next to him.
“We’re not done,” Simon reminds him, glancing down at his own notebook.
“I know, I just want to be close to you.”
How is he supposed to say no to that?
Simon tries to hide his grin as he shifts, letting Wille climb into bed behind him and wrap his arms around him. His boyfriend burrows his face in his neck and presses a kiss there.
“Maybe grab your homework?” Simon tries to remind, glancing at the other bed of the bed where Wille’s notebook lays abandoned.
“Mhm, I don’t know how to do it anyway, let me just watch you solve it first,” his boyfriend retorts as he looks over Simon’s shoulder at his homework.
Simon snorts and shakes his head amusingly but lets him.
“Don’t think I’m going to let you copy from me,” he warns without much threat in his tone though.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Wille just holds him a bit tighter.
They’re lying on their sides on the pier by the lake, facing each other. The sun is slowly setting on the horizon but the evening is surprisingly warm so as they get lost in their conversations, the weather doesn’t seem to bother them.
“And then, Erik and I would stay in the garden till it got very late and mom had to call us back inside,” Wille finishes telling him about some sort of spring celebrations taking place at the palace each year, where the queen officially opens the gardens. Simon hums as his boyfriend reaches to tuck a loose curl behind his ear, his palm staying there and gently tracing his cheek.
“That sounds nice,” Simon retorts, melting a bit under his delicate touch. Recently, Wille has started to open up a bit more to him about Erik. He’s begun to share stories, sometimes sad sometimes happy ones, but Simon is always ready to listen to any kind. It means a lot to him that Wille considers him worthy of any kind of knowledge about his brother. “Is that why you like spring so much?”
“Kind of,” Wille admits. “I mean, it was always just such a nice beginning of the season. And spring has always felt like a new beginning somehow. When everything comes back to life and stuff.”
Simon nods and sends him a smile. As Wille closes his eyes now, with the last rays of sun caressing his skin, he looks incredibly peaceful. Simon wants to see more of him like this, to watch him let go.
“I should go soon,” he hates to break the serene moment but time is kind of shrinking now.
“No,” Wille whines.
“The bus leaves soon.”
“No,” his boyfriend only repeats, making Simon chuckle. His arm wraps around Simon to keep him closer, with no intention to let go. He tilts his head a little so they can touch their lips together softly. And Simon sees what he’s trying to do because when they make out like this, time seems to be losing all its meaning and before Simon knows it, he’ll probably end up late for the bus. “Stay the night?” Wille proposes, his lips still brushing Simon’s delicately.
“I can’t,” Simon sighs.
“Why?”
“I spent the night like three times this week.” He reminds to which Wille rolls his eyes.
“So?”
Simon exhales. His boyfriend is incorrigible.
“You can come to mine for the weekend?” He tries to bargain.
“For the whole weekend?” Wille cracks his eye open. Simon nods. “Okay,” he agrees and steals one more kiss from Simon, which leaves them both smiling. “Let me walk you to the bus then.”
Soon they get up and head to the bus stop hand in hand. Once they reach the little alcove, they stand pressed in a hug, exchanging a few more kisses before the sound of the incoming bus makes them pull apart. Wille groans, throwing his head back. Simon is no more happy to leave but his boyfriend’s dramatic reaction each time he has to go always makes him amused.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he reminds because Wille is acting as if he was leaving for a whole week or something.
“Mhm,” his boyfriend nods. He eyes Simon assessingly for a few seconds before getting out of his navy blue hoodie and handing it to him. “Here.”
“I don’t-” Simon begins confused but his boyfriend cuts in.
“It’ll get colder when you get back and you still have to walk from the stop,” Wille retorts and yeah, he kind of makes sense but also, Simon could handle it. It’s just a few minutes walk. “Text me when you’re back home?” His boyfriend checks in and yeah, all the care and love he’s showing for him now makes Simon drop all kinds of protests as he takes the hoodie and nods.
“Of course,” he leans in for one more kiss before the bus pulls up and he has to drag himself away.
Wille waves at him once Simon settles inside the bus. Simon keeps looking at him until he drives too far away to see him, already missing him.
And the hoodie was totally a good idea, Simon realises, as he puts it on after being engulfed in the chillier air once he steps off the bus.
“We should go to sleep.”
Simon wishes his voice held more authority but there he is, spread on his bed underneath his boyfriend and yeah, it’s kind of difficult to be rational now. Especially with Wille leaving kisses all over his neck.
He tilts his head back, his body betraying him despite his mind rationally telling him that they should stop. It’s late and yeah, maybe it is the weekend, but they’re set up to meet Rosh and Ayub tomorrow morning. And Simon hates to be late, so if they keep this going, they’re going to go to sleep even later and be exhausted tomorrow. And Wille really should be on his best behaviour tomorrow since Simon’s friends are still kind of warming up to him. Which Simon knows won’t be possible if he doesn’t get enough sleep and is grumpy in the morning.
“Yeah?” Wille murmurs again his neck, not stopping his ministrations.
“Wille,” Simon whines “I’m serious,” he gently tugs at his boyfriend’s hair to detach him from his neck.
Wille sighs, reluctantly allowing Simon to pull him back. He keeps eyeing him with a defeated expression.
“Go get ready for bed,” Simon orders and with another heavy exhale, Wille drags himself up from the bed. He heads towards Simon’s drawer, knowing well at this point that he can help himself to any clothes he’ll need for the night.
Simon turns on his side, reaching for his phone and double-checking everything about their plans for tomorrow in their group chat with Rosh and Ayub.
“Are you ever planning to return those?” Wille’s voice makes him look up to where his boyfriend is rummaging through an open drawer.
“What?”
Wille pulls one of his many hoodies crumpled in there to present to Simon.
Simon can feel his face blushing. He shrugs.
“I should,” he retorts and Wille quirks an eyebrow.
“You should?”
“Mhm, they don’t really smell like you anymore,” he complains and Wille shakes his head at him amusingly. He reaches to another drawer to pull out a t-shirt before striding back towards the bed and crouching next to it so he can be at eye level with Simon. “I can leave you the one I have today, but you’ll have to give me one back. I’m out of hoodies, babe.”
Simon pouts at that. He’s not even sure when he formed such an emotional connection with his boyfriend’s hoodies.
“So like an exchange?” He inquires.
“Mhm,” Wille agrees. “You can have it back soon. Once it smells like me again. Deal?” He proposes.
“Deal,” Simon decides, the deal getting sealed with a smiley kiss then. It seems fair.
The next day though, when they leave to meet Rosh and Ayub, Simon finds Wille not wearing any of his hoodies. Instead, his boyfriend put on his purple hoodie. On Simon, it’s quite oversized so on Wille, it fits basically perfectly.
Does Simon mind? No, not really. It only seems fair. And also, Wille looks really good in it.
Sharing clothes seems like a nice idea too. They should have started doing this a long time ago but well, better late than never.
