Cuckoo

Summary:

Hwang Hyunjin thought he was the happiest man alive.

Until Han Jisung appeared.

Nothing will be like it was.

Notes:

"...Cuckoo is an obligate brood parasite - it lays its eggs in the nests of other birds. Hatched cuckoo chicks may push host eggs out of the nest or be raised alongside the host's chicks..."

Part one - Hyunjin

His decision was a bold one, but it seemed the only right in this situation. He didn’t have anyone to ask for advice. He knew what Seonghwa and Hongjoong hyung’s would tell him and they were the only ones to know about his dilemma.

He looked at the hospital form, it missed only one thing - his signature.

He went with his thoughts to his memories, to make this decision easier.

He was born as the only child of the Hwang family. Hwang Hyunjin. His family was well known and rich. They had a huge company and their business was really successful. His family consisted of his grandpa, his parents and his dog. They were really happy.

When Hyunjin was 10 he presented as an omega. It was a problem at first as his father couldn’t believe that his heir wasn’t an alpha. He only coped with it when his father and Hyunjin’s grandfather told that it didn’t matter as long as it was Hyunjin.

His grandpa was the only person in his family who was always by his side, no matter what. It was like this til the end.

Hyunjin was friends with his parents' friends' children. They were all of similar age and social status. His best friend was Lee Felix, the omega heir of the Lee family. They had similar issues with being omegas so they understood each other without words. Felix always wanted to go after Minho hyung, so Hyunjin tagged along. Minho hyung was best friends with Chan hyung, so the four of them were always together. They had a lot of sweet memories, playing and studying together, also getting into troubles or rather Felix and Hyunjin got into troubles a lot and their hyungs got them out of it. Then they met the younger son of Kim family and the heir of Yang family and their friend group felt complete. Hyunjin’s life was all rainbows and unicorns. He had a loving family and loyal friends. He couldn’t ask for more. He didn’t know that it was about to change.

When Hyunjin was 12 his parents adopted an orphan omega named Jisung. Hyunjin was very proud of them, that they were such good people to care about poor abandoned child. He was also excited that he would have one more person to play with.

Jisung was a really cute omega with a charming smile and adorable cheeks. Hyunjin quickly took a liking to him and wanted to introduce him to his friends. Jisung was afraid that they wouldn’t accept him as he wasn’t born rich, but Hyunjin assured him that his friends weren’t like that.

And he was right. His friends all fell in love with the new omega in the group. Jisung was really easy to love.

Hyunjin’s parents also drowned him in love. They were really keen on him as he was everything they wanted from a child. He had an analysing mind and was good at reading people. He was interested in business and economics, he was also really good at maths.

Hyunjin was completely opposite. He was a softie, a free spirit. He was talented in every kind of art. He danced, played a lot of instruments, could paint and sculpture. He was in love with art galleries where he could spend all his days. He also loved photography and always went with Seungmin to nature photoshoots. He didn’t like business meetings as they were boring and people there were fake.

It became apparent that his parents preferred Jisung when it came to parties with high society or meetings with businessmen.

Hyunjin didn’t mind as he knew Jisung liked it. He wanted his family to be happy.

He noticed that his parents' attitude towards him changed but he reminded himself that Jisung deserved to be a favourite child right now as his past was full of suffering. He knew that his father looked at Jisung with pride every time he had a good mark in school and his mother was on every maths contest Jisung took part in.

They never were on Hyunjin’s performances or on his art club exhibitions but he knew they were busy and Jisung needed their encouragement as he wasn’t born Hwang.

He was really naive.

His friends also started to invite Jisung more, while Hyunjin was omitted. Felix hailed himself as Jisung’s sunshine twin and they were inseparable. He rarely had time for Hyunjin and it became even less when he finally started to date Minho hyung.

Hyunjin’s childhood sweetheart- Chan hyung easily became Jisung's favourite hyung, while he himself always said that Jisung was his favourite baby. It hurt him. For the first time Hyunjin was hurt about the change that came with Jisung’s appearing.

The only thing that didn’t change was the relationship between Hyunjin and his grandpa. He was also the one that made him realise what really happened.

His grandfather never liked nor accepted Jisung. He always said that this child was weird. There was a reason for a lot of arguments between  grandpa and parents, who already loved Jisung like their own son. More than their own son.

It was just that Jisung fit so well to their image of a perfect child. He was everything that Hyunjin wasn’t and they wanted him to be.

Soon enough his grandfather became the only person who really knew Hyunjin. He always could count on him. He was his rock and the only person who really loved him.

While growing up Hyunjin was more and more aware of his role in his family. He knew that his parents loved Jisung the most and he became an embarrassing addiction.

His friends also abandoned him. They of course didn’t tell him to fuck off, but they did everything so he knew how little he meant to them and that he wasn’t needed with them.

There was one argument in their friend group. They all went to the lake on vacation. They were swimming, playing and having a good time. While Minho and Felix went to the shop, Jeongin and Chan were having a barbecue on the beach and Seungmin disappeared somewhere to take pictures, Hyunjin and Jisung were swimming, Out of nowhere Jisung started to pretend that he’s drowning. Hyunjin laughed and told him to stop, he tried to pull him over the surface. Then Chan hyung appeared near them, “saved” Jisung and started shouting at Hyunjin. It looked like Hyunjin wanted to drown him. Hyunjin tried to explain that it wasn’t like that, that he tried to pull him out, but Chan nor the others who already gathered didn’t listen to him and asked Jisung. Hyunjin was sure, so sure that his brother would tell them the truth. Oh, how wrong he was. Jisung started crying saying he was scared and Hyunjin forced him to go to the water and then tried to drown him. Felix was furious and cursed at Hyunjin with probably every curse he knew.

Hyunjin, devastated, came back home to his already furious parents. Hyunjin got a slap from his mom for this.

This was the last time Hyunjin went somewhere with his friends. He then went to his grandfather and the old man told him what he thought about this Jisung.

The old man never trusted him. He could see through his fake sweet face. It was obvious for him that Jisung had hidden motives and grandpa waited for him to reveal them.

Hyunjin was happy that he at least had him by his side.

After the accident Jisung apologised to him, saying that he was only joking and he didn’t think the others would take it so seriously. It was the first time Hyunjin didn’t believe in what he was saying.

The situation between Hyunjin and his friends wasn’t much better after that. Hyunjin remembered how they turned against him in one second. Like they didn’t know each other all their lives.

Hyunjin was hurting more and more as Chan hyung was cold to him. He was in love with the other as long as he knew what love is and the thought that Chan hyung didn’t trust him hurt. He also knew about hyung’s crush on Jisung. Everyone knew.

Jisung and Chan hyung had the same interests, they both were into business. Chan was about to take over his family’s company soon and Jisung helped him with everything. Chan’s parents adored Jisung, like everyone and they probably wanted Jisung to become his son’s husband and mate.

Hyunjin’s parents and Bang family wanted to merge their companies and become the most powerful and influential one. They decided to arrange a marriage between Chan and the son of the Hwang family. Of course both Chan and his parents wanted Jisung to be the one.

But something happened. Hyunjin’s grandpa, the head of Hwang family and company, died. And he left all his company shares to Hyunjin.

Chan still could marry Jisung, but the younger omega didn’t have any power in the company, unlike Hyunjin.

That’s how it went. Hyunjin out of nowhere became valuable. He had a lot of admirers and his parents took him to meetings. Hyunjin however was in mourning. Died the only person who truly loved him. The only one who cared for him. He was devastated and didn’t have the mind or heart to think about the company. Not that it ever interested him.

Their parents made them marry. Bang Christopher Chan and Hwang Hyunjin at ages 23 and 20 got married.

Despite everything Hyunjin was excited. He was in love with Chan for half his life and had a little hope that his hyung would reciprocate it.

Which was stupid of him. On their wedding night Hyunjin got to know the future nature of their marriage. When the door closed after the newlyweds Chan told him “I won’t mate with you. I won’t even touch you like that, Hyunjin. I want to mate with someone I love.” With that he left the room and Hyunjin spent his night crying on the floor.

Felix seemed furious at Hyunjin for getting married with Jisung’s love. He practically killed Hyunjin with his glare when he noticed the red eyed Jisung. They didn’t talk friendly for years.

The rest of his old friends were more civilised with him. Even Minho who now was Felix’s husband. They got married a year earlier with Jisung as Felix’s bridesmaid of course. Hyunjin was barely invited to the wedding.

After the wedding they moved into the house Bang’s gave them as a wedding gift. Hyunjin took a guest bedroom. He tried every idea that came to his mind to make Chan fall for him. He had to wear clothes which hide his neck, so no one knew that he wasn’t marked, but he didn't mind. It didn’t work. Nothing worked. Dinners, dates, gifts, nothing worked.

Chan maybe looked at him as his friend, but nothing more. Still, Hyunjin hoped.

His heats were extremely painful as his omega begged for his alpha to help him. They lasted a full week and Hyunjin thought he would die from fever and pain. Not that Chan would care.

The end of Hyunjin’s hope came from Jisung himself. Chan and Jisung still worked together as Hyunjin let Jisung make decisions in the company on his behalf. The time when Chan was in company in presence of Jisung was the only time when he was happy, when Chan was actually smiling. He never did it with Hyunjin next to him.

Time passed and Jisung moved on. He fell in love with Seo Changbin, one of the managers from their company and they got married. The night of Jisung’s and Changbin’s wedding, Chan spent drinking alcohol and crying in his bedroom. Hyunjin saw that all and lost the little hope he had. The little hope that one day he would be happy.

Hyunjin came to terms with the fact that his marriage would never be a happy one or that his family didn’t love him.

After that Chan started to drink. He got drunk almost every time when he got home. He also came back from business meetings with traces of lipsticks on his shirt.

Hyunjin tried to talk to him about it, but then Chan became aggressive and it was over for Hyunjin. He moved out of their house to the house of his late grandfather. He did it for Chan, so he wouldn't have to look at him, but also for himself. It was empty now and Hyunjin was mad at himself that he didn’t think about it earlier. He was so happy there once upon a time. The moment when he went inside the house he felt so safe as he hadn't in a long time. It was his home from then on. Chan didn’t even notice.

Not long after his moving to grandpa’s house Hyunjin started to feel bad. He put it off due to stress and didn’t care. Only went to the doctor after the incident on family dinner.

He came back to his previous house, the one he shared with Chan, for dinner. They gave the appearance of a harmonious marriage. There were still a lot of Hyunjin’s things in this house, just for their parents to think that he still lives there. Not that they would care if Hyunjin really was there or if he was happy. He wasn’t this naive to believe in it.

They sat on the table while eating, his parents and Bangs, Chan and Hyunjin. It was the first time Hyunjin saw Chan since weeks. He still pretended to be happily married. He supposed his parents knew he was lying. They always said that he couldn’t lie even to save his life. Either way they didn’t care as they knew he would play his role well. They tried a good dog after all.

He listened to them talking about some investment he didn’t care about and tried to swallow food. He felt nauseous for the whole day and now it was even worse. He stood up abruptly and ran to the bathroom. He went back 10 minutes and the whole of today's food later.

Everyone sitting on the table looked at him. Mrs Bang asked “Hyunjin-ah, do you finally have some good news for us? Are you pregnant?”

Chan choked on it and Hyunjin busted out laughing. He really wanted to tell her in the face that her son never touched him, that he was still a virgin as he saved himself for his love who in the end didn’t want him.

Still he calmed down and quickly came up with the excuse “No, mother. I ate out yesterday so it’s only food poisoning.”

The parents looked disappointed while Chan was looking at him with a weird expression. After the dinner, when parents were finally out and Hyunjin only dreamed of going home, Chan stopped him.

“You’re really not pregnant?” He asked him and Hyunjin glared at him.

“Did we sleep together?” Chan rolled his eyes at that.

“You could sleep with someone else.”

Hyunjin went to the door and before he went outside he turned around only to say “I’m not like you. I’m not a cheater.”

It was their only talk for a long time.

After this fucking dinner Hyunjin felt even worse and he finally decided to go to the doctor and find out what’s wrong.

His doctor made him all necessary tests and after confirming that Hyunjin indeed wasn’t pregnant (Hyunjin rolled his eyes of course they would think that he’s omega after all) and that he didn’t have an alpha (he wasn’t marked and he didn’t write Chan to his emergency contacts) his doctor asked him to come to his office and his voice was grave.

Hyunjin knew something was wrong just from this worried face.

“I’m sorry Mr. Hwang, it looks like…”

Hyunjin went outside the hospital and called for a taxi. He couldn’t drive in this state. He went to the only person who would hear him out.

He sat on the bench next to his grandfather’s grave. There was also his grandmother’s grave, the one Hyunjin knew only a little, a memory of delicious cookies and warm hugs.

He sat there for a while and then started to talk.

“Hello grandpa…. You know I found out today I’m terminally ill. I have a brain tumour. They don’t give me a lot of time. It’s in a bad place and it would be difficult to treat it… They want me to start therapy immediately, but you know… I've been thinking about it since I came out of the doctor's office and I still don’t know the answer to the question. What for? Why would I treat it? Why would I fight for a life when I don’t want it? I don’t even have one person who I would tell about it. You’re the only one who wants to hear me and you’re not here anymore. Maybe I should just go to you?” The tears were running down his cheeks and he felt terribly lonely. He was alone in the cold graveyard. He didn’t even have a phone with himself as he knew no one would call. And no one would answer his call. He cried for a while and then came back home.

He went to this therapy as he was his grandpa’s grandson after all. He would fight. Even if only a little.

One therapy after another. Nothing helped. He lost his hair, it grew back, then he lost it once again.

Now they were back again and he liked them. He felt more like himself when he had his black ponytail.

He thanked God that he had his hair when Jisung decided to throw a party for all of his friends and family and he unfortunately had to go there. Even if only to stand next to Chan and look pretty. Unfortunately after long months of treatments he didn’t look as pretty as he did before he started. Not that anyone noticed.

Jisung was a great host and it was evident that he and Changbin were madly in love with each other. The reason for the whole party also was great - Jisung was pregnant.

Hyunjin saw his parents bursting with pride and smiles. They were all a happy family. Hyunjin never fit with them.

It was a year since he started treatment and he still felt like shit. Maybe even more than before he started it. Doctor told him it was normal. That the tumour was getting bigger. It’s funny as Hyunjin did all of it for it to be smaller not bigger. Doctor didn’t appreciate his sense of humour and Hyunjin deeply regretted it.

He wanted to do something for himself, not the parasite he had in his brain. He wanted to dance.

The first thing he did when he was 18 was opening a dancing studio with Minho hyung. It was always their shared dream and even the problems with Jisung couldn’t stop it. Hyunjin stopped going there when he married Chan and even Minho hyung didn’t want to talk to him.

So no, going to his own studio wasn’t an option.

So he went to the other one, closer to his home. He didn’t know then that he would meet his angel there.

He went to one of the group classes. Nothing serious as he didn’t have a lot of strength because of this fucking parasite.

When he danced he felt alife. He didn’t feel like that for such a long time. He fought for his life for so long that he forgot to live.

After the classes one of the other participants came closer to him. It was a beautiful omega. He smiled at him and greeted him with “Hello there. I’m Seonghwa. I saw how you’re dancing and man you’re awesome! What are you doing in the basic group?!” And with that a cheerful omega won his heart.

It turned out he was there only to test how his new instructor was doing. Seonghwa hyung - as he was asked to call him - was a dancer and his mate Hongjoong was music producer. They were a great couple and Hyunjin quickly befriended them. Or you would rather say they adopted him.

Hyunjin felt such happiness for having a friend for himself that he nearly forgot about his illness. Nearly, because a tumour bitch didn’t give up.

Seonghwa hyung asked him if he knew the Hwang family when hearing his name, but Hyunjin quickly changed the subject and they didn’t talk about it ever since. The omegas became best friends.

Hyunjin nearly fainted next to hyung and he understood that he made a mistake. He shouldn’t be close to anyone as he wouldn’t be in this world for a long time.

He decided to distance himself a little from the mated pair. He wanted to spare them his illness, problems and then mourning. It didn’t work out as Seonghwa hyung stormed into his house after he called out the meeting for the third time.

“Hyunjinnie, I don’t know what you’re not telling me, but stop all this bullshit.” He told him while sitting before him on the chair with no intention of going out until getting to know the truth.

And Hyunjin told him. Firstly him, then, when Seonghwa hyung started to hysterically cry and he had to call Hongjoong hyung, he also told the alpha about his state.

They cried with him and then promised to never leave him. They told him that he wasn’t alone from now on. Hyunjin cried so much after hearing these words. Then he told him about his family. It wasn’t easy to admit that he had a husband that didn’t want him, a family that didn’t love him and friends that didn’t care for him. But his hyungs understood everything and hugged him even more.

He was in heaven for a while. His hyungs didn’t let him stay alone that night and he was invited to stay with them for a while. When Seonghwa hyung gave him his dinner, Hyunjin burst into tears. Both hyungs started asking what’s wrong if there is a problem with food, but he shook his head.

“It’s been years since I had dinner in such a familial atmosphere. Thank you hyungs.” After all he didn’t eat his food as Seonghwa hyung didn’t want to let him go out of his arms, while hugging him tightly and scentling like crazy.

Life was easier. He had a lot of new friends as hyungs introduced him to their group of friends. His protests that it’s pointless because he will die soon anyway were knocked out of his head with a newspaper about Seonghwa hyung’s favourite idols.

His treatment wasn’t easier and it really looked like it wouldn’t help him. He was feeling worse and worse and even his friends saw that he didn’t look ok.

Not that his family noticed. The only text he got was from Jisung that he would have a niece. Nice to know. Whatever.

His only option seemed to be operation and he didn’t want that. He was scared of hospitals to be honest and prolonging his miserable life wasn't a smart option for him.

But you shouldn’t tell that to Seonghwa hyung or Mingi hyung or San hyung or Wooyoung hyung or seriously none of them. They tried to convince him with all they had.

He already fought for his life. It was a year and a half of his fighting. He was tired.

He sat on the bench near his grandfather’s grave and thought about the operation. It was the only option. He already had all the symptoms and it was difficult to function. Vision problems, nausea, headaches, loss of consciousness, balance problems, he barely walked straight…

He returned home and called his hyung.

“I will do it.”

The answer was a fit of happiness from the other side of the call. It didn’t really matter if he wanted to live or not. He couldn’t function normally and his doctor told him that he had a 20% chance of surviving the surgery. Hyunjin never in his life had luck and he doubted he would have this time.

All these thoughts went out of his mind when he once again looked at the hospital form. He signed it.

He took care of every case he had left before his death. Just in case.

For only once he wanted to see his niece Haneul born 3 months ago, but he couldn’t go to Jisung looking like that. Previously he excused himself with work and now he looked too sick to go there. He would see her from heaven it seemed.

He prepared himself and went to the hospital. Of course all his hyungs and Jongho were there.

“I didn’t want to say it earlier as I wasn’t sure if he would do it, but I asked my childhood friend to operate on you. And hyung agreed. He’s one of the best doctors in Korea. You will make it, love.” Hongjoong hyung told him before they took him to the surgery. He thanked him with a smile.

“Thank all of you.” He looked at them all.” Thank you for having me, thank you for giving me a family for the last of my days.” It made all of them cry. Nurse asked them to go.

Hyunjin was left alone and he fought with himself. There was one more person he wanted to thank and say goodbye to. He dialled the number and waited.

Of course. Stupid Hyunjin. It was obvious Chan hyung wouldn’t answer his call.

He rolled eyes at his own stupidity and the nurse came back to take him to the operation block. It was time.

Part two - Chan

Chan woke up early. He didn’t sleep a lot, if he slept at all. He had too much work and too many thoughts that kept him awake at night. He decided that today he can go to his office a little later and have breakfast like a normal being.

He went downstairs and inside the kitchen. It was too early for Mrs. Kim to be there. He had to make something himself. He went to the coffee machine and made himself a cup of one. He used Hyunjin’s cup. He remembered it clearly. They bought two of them, his own was broken long ago.

It made him think about his husband, the house felt weird without his presence. There were still his things of course, for appearances, but Hyunjin himself wasn’t here for a long time.

Chan thought he should be happy. Hyunjin turned out to be the pure soul he always was and did what Chan wanted him to. Omega was everything someone would want from a husband, but not Chan. Chan always wanted Jisung. Very unavailable Jisung. Forbidden Jisung.

He ate and drank a second coffee when he heard the bell at his door. He went to open it and saw a courier with a letter to him.

He opened it after a while. It was from a notary with an invitation. He didn’t understand as he didn’t have anything to do with any notary but he would still go there at least to find out what was going on. Meeting was today at 2 pm.

He worked a little, but his mind drifted all the time to a mystery letter. It was finally time to go and he went there with curiosity.

Before the notary office he met all his friends, in-laws and one person he didn’t know. They all looked at each other with surprise.

“Do you know what’s going on?” Minho asked him and Chan shook his head.

They were all invited inside. The notary sat at his desk and waited for all of them to sit down. Then he started talking.

“You were all asked here to hear the last will of my client Hwang Hyunjin.”

Chan stopped breathing. What the fuck.

All of the gathered had this reaction. With one exception. Finally his mother in law screamed “How can you read his last will when my son is alive?!”

The notary looked at her confused and then at all the others. Then like he understood what’s happening.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you knew about it. Hwang Hyunjin died a week ago.”

Chan never thought he would hear this sentence. He didn’t know what to feel. All his world stopped for a moment and he only heard screams around himself. Finally somebody nudged him, it was his father in law. “How come you don’t know it? You are his mate! You should feel it!”

Chan shook his head, too ashamed to look his in-laws, who were now standing before him in the eyes. “We didn’t mate… I didn’t mark him…”

He heard surprised gasps and could feel the furious glares.

The notary saved him “I’m really sorry, but I have a client right after this reading, could we continue?” They all sat back down.

“I’m sorry you got to know about Mr. Hwang’s death this way, I was sure you knew about it. Mr. Hwang was ill and he didn’t survive the operation. For more questions about it, I have to send you to Mr. Kim.” He pointed at the stranger who didn’t even look in their way.

“Now I will read Hwang Hyunjin’s last will.”

“Hello everyone. I know that you are surprised that you are here. Sorry you had to gather here, but don’t worry it won’t take long.

I leave all my shares in the company for my little niece Seo Haneul. Until she’s 18 the one who would take care of it in her name would be her mother - Seo Jisung. You can finally run the company together, with Chan hyung like you always wanted.

For Bang Chan I left the other half of our wedding house and the house of my late grandfather in which I was living to the end of my life. You are free to do what you want with it as you are free now. I would free you earlier and divorce you, but I think widower would look better in the eyes of businessmen than divorcee.

My shares in the dance studio I opened with Minho hyung go to Lee Felix. If anyone can make hyung listen it would only be his beloved husband.

My collection of old cameras and cassettes go to Kim Seungmin. They now go for a good price on the market so you should sell them easily, Seungmin-ah.

My paintings go to Yang Jeongin, I know that they are not really valuable but after my death their prices should go higher, so you could get quite a sum from them. Also all money from my individual bank account goes to you, Jeongin-ah. It’s not very much, but I think it’s enough for you to make a living if you ever wanted to change your mind and pursue your dreams. Your voice is unique and this money could help you on the start.

The family jewellery I inherited from grandma, go to my mother, Hwang Dona. It's up to her what she would do with it. I’m sorry, mom, that I wasn’t the son you always wanted. I hope that one day, in another life, we will meet again in better circumstances.

Finally, Seonghwa hyung, please take all my own jewellery collection I gathered through the years and sell it. The money would go to Jeongin in addition to money from my bank account. As in other things you know what to do.

That's all I have to give. Goodbye everyone.

Hwang Hyunjin”

They were all in shock. The notary only said “Now, I really have to go. For more questions as I said earlier, please go to Kim Seonghwa.” he once again pointed at the stranger who didn’t look as shocked as they all were.

This Seonghwa stood up “Thank you for your work Mr. Park. I will take over now, you can go.” and with that the notary went outside and Kim Seonghwa looked at all the gathered there with cold glare.

The first person to unfreeze was Mr. Hwang. “Could you tell us what happened to our son?”

Seonghwa nodded “Hyunjinnie had a brain tumour and fought with it for almost two years. Nothing was working and his last hope was an operation. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it.” He was sad while saying it and you could see that he truly cared about Hyunjin.

“Why didn’t he say anything?!” Mr. Hwang wanted to know and it seemed to piss off the strange omega as he looked at them with hate evident in his eyes.

“Why the fuck would he tell you? You never cared about him! All of you didn’t give a fuck about him! You only cared about Jisung and for what I can see, he is standing there all ok.” he pointed in Jisung’s direction, making him flinch. “Stop pretending to care now madame, when it’s too late. Your only son is still alive!”

Seonghwa wanted to leave them there, but he once again looked at Jisung. “I hope you are happy with yourself, you fucking parasite.”

And with that he left them. Chan still couldn’t believe Hyunjin was dead. He had a missed call from him not so long ago. He pulled out his phone and checked - it was a week ago. The day when Hyunjin died. Why didn't Chan pick up? Why?!

He ran from the venue before anyone would try to talk with him and went back to the house they shared. Or rather to his house as Hyunjin left it for him. He entered the house and looked at all of Hyunjin's things. It looked like Hyunjin would be back in a minute.

Chan went to Hyunjin’s bedroom and lied on his bed. It still had a little of his scent. Roses with caramel.

How did it end like this? Hyunjin was ill for 2 years and he didn’t know about it. He looked in his mind for a memory of the last time he normally talked with his husband and he couldn’t remember.

After their wedding Chan was an ass to him. He knew that. Hyunjin was a pure soul, his kind smile always lit up all the room and Chan tried to hate it as he thought Hyunjin was the one to separate him from his beloved.

But was he really beloved? Chan breathed in Hyunjin’s scent and remembered the first time he smelled it, just after Hyunjin presented. His heart started beating furiously and his alpha whispered inside his head to claim this omega for himself. How did it happen that even when he was married to Hyunjin, he still didn’t do it? How from childhood crush he came to hate the lovely omega?

He desperately searched in his memory the moment he stopped caring about these cute dimples and crescent eyes.

When Jisung appeared, That’s the answer. Jisung came into his life and out of nowhere Chan didn’t want Hyunjin by his side, just Jisung. Why? He didn’t know.

They had a lot of fond memories from their childhood. He and Minho always had to help their troublemaker duo. Fortunately it took one pleading look from Hyunjin and all the cold hearts melted. They were inseparable, how come he didn’t even notice Hyunjin’s absence later?

How come that after getting to know Jisung, Chan didn’t need Hyunjin by his side anymore? It didn’t make any sense right now.

Chan still remembered how beautiful Hyunjin looked on the day of their wedding and he still remembered the hurt and tears in his eyes when he didn’t want to mark him. It was a great offence to the omega that their alpha didn’t want to mark them, it meant he didn’t want him at all as mating is one for whole life. He remembered the pain he saw on Hyunjin’s face when he told him he didn’t love him. He remembered how red his eyes were the next day.

But his kind omega still tried for him. He saw every effort Hyunjin would make to make him feel better. But Chan didn’t appreciate any of it.

The last straw had to be for Hyunjin the way Chan cried when Jisung got married as after that night, Hyunjin stopped trying to get his attention.

Chan immediately noticed the change in his behaviour. He himself changed then. He started to go to a lot of parties after work and came back home drunk. He saw Hyunjin’s sadness and felt his distress, but he didn’t care. Why was he so selfish?

Why was he such a bad alpha that when his husband moved out and he was left alone, he didn’t fight for him?

And it’s not like he didn’t think about it. Surprisingly he missed Hyunjin. He just didn’t know how to make it work and he still thought about his love for Jisung.

He wanted to try and fight for their marriage, but he was a coward and also he was too proud to make himself beg for omega’s forgiveness.

Now all his reasons seemed bland and stupid. He wasted the only chance for happiness he had. His mind tortured him with an image of Hyunjin’s wide smile, the one he hadn’t seen in so long.

He laid on Hyunjin’s bed and was thinking about the old days, when they were happy together. Even as friends.

He heard the front door opening and went down to see who it was. Only a few people had a key to this house.

He was met with a freezing glare of omega he met earlier today.

“Hello again. I’m here to fulfil my promise. It won’t take long.” Kim Seonghwa said. Chan didn’t even have time to answer when omega already went upstairs like Hyunjin had told him where his room was.

Chan went after him and looked at Seonghwa unfolding boxes and putting everything into it. Everything. He didn’t miss even one thing. It looked like he was about to leave this room completely empty.

“How did you meet Hyunjinnie?” Chan wanted to know.

Seonghwa grimaced at the nickname. “We met a year ago in my dance studio.”

Chan frowned “Your studio? Not Hyunjin’s?”

Seonghwa laughed at his confusion “How could he go to his studio when the Lees were there all the time?”

Chan clearly didn’t understand. “But they are his friends?”

The omega stopped his packing for a moment and looked at him with disgust “Are they? Lee Felix who is Jisung’s best friend and Lee Minho who is your best friend. Both of them blaming Jinnie for your unhappiness and badly ended love story.”

It seemed right. Unfortunately Chan didn’t notice earlier how much his crush was affecting his friends.

“They blamed him?” Chan felt stupid that he had to ask a complete stranger for an issue between his close people.

The omega rolled his eyes and continued packing. “Of course. Poor Chan who had to marry without love. Poor Jisung, who was rejected just because of money and blood. So sad. Poor Chan who hated his new husband so much that he didn’t even want to look at him.”

Chan frowned, “I never hated Hyunjinnie.”

Seonghwa once again flinched at the pet name coming from Chan.  It looked like he hated the sound of it in Chan’s mouth.

“Yeah, right. It’s not like you didn’t mark him disrespecting your union. It’s not like you worked all the time to not come back home to him. It’s not like you cried after his brother. It’s not like you were drunk all the time so you wouldn’t have to look at him. It’s not like you were happy that he moved out. It’s not like you will be happy now, that you are free from him!” He screamed the last sentence.

Chan got angry at his words but at the same time he didn’t have anything that would explain him. He really did all that. But he didn’t know that Hyunjin would think that he hated him. It’s not true. Not true!

“Oh, spare me your bitten dog face. I don’t care what you feel or think.”

There were still questions he wanted answered so he stopped himself from screaming at the omega. It’s not like he had any right to do so.

“How was he? Before operation? I knew nothing about his state.”

Seonghwa closed the third box and started packing the fourth one.

“Bad. He was like a half of himself. He couldn’t properly see or walk by himself. He didn’t have an appetite. But he fought. He fought for us.” Omega seemed to try to stop himself from breaking into tears.

“Was… Was he happy with you?”

“More then with you and this fucking parasite.”

Chan looked at him trying to figure him out “Why do you call Jisung a parasite all the time?”

Seonghwa laughed “Isn’t he?”

Chan fell silent. He wasn’t sure anymore. He went outside the house, to the garden. He thought about the things Seonghwa told him.

Did Jinnie really think that Chan hated him? He didn’t hate him.

Did he really blame him for the situation with Jisung? He did, but at the same time he knew that it wasn’t Hyunjin’s fault.

He thought about his feelings for Hyunjin, not the first time. Since Hyunjin moved out Chan thought about him a lot and discovered that he wanted them to try. Be a real marriage. That he thought about them being happily together, mated.

He was about to go and talk with Hyunjin about it. To confess his feelings. But his cowardice always won and made him wait a little longer.

Who would have thought that he wouldn’t have more time?

After a long while he came back to the house and didn’t recognise it.

There wasn't a single thing in the house that belonged to Hyunjin. Hyunjin had to tell Seonghwa about everything that was his or chosen by him. He quickly ran to Hyunjin’s bedroom and saw it was empty too. There wasn’t omega’s scent there anymore as his clothes and bed linen weren't there either. He was devastated. He didn’t have anything that would bring Hyunjinnie to him.

He sat on the floor, still couldn’t believe that Hyunjin was dead. That their time together ended before it even really started.

He remembered what Hyunjin wrote in his testament. That he would free him before. Hyunjin really had to think he hated him.

Even when he was sick, he still thought about Chan and what he would want as he gave his shares to Jisung disposal. Yes, there was a time when he dreamed about running a company with Jisung, but it was long ago. Now there wasn’t anything he would like more than having Hyunjin enter this room and hug him with a shy smile and lovely scent.

But it wasn’t possible anymore.

Part three - Hwang Dona

Dona thought that she had everything she could want in this world. She had a happy family and successful business.

She had a son or rather sons who she could pamper and a beloved husband to spoil her.

That’s when she got an invitation from the notary, she was surprised. She didn’t know what it was about.

Of course her husband decided to go with her to explain it.

She didn’t think much of seeing familiar faces there. There was even her beloved son, Jisung, but her baby didn’t know anything either.

When she saw him she quickly ran to him to hug him. She didn’t see him for a while as he was busy taking care of her lovely granddaughter so she missed him dearly.

She still stood next to him when Chan appeared and when the notary invited them inside his office.

She would never guess what she was about to hear.

Her baby. Her little son. The baby she carried for 9 months in her womb was dead.

She couldn’t believe it. It had to be a joke. Cruel joke.

But then the notary with a serious face confirmed that and her world collapsed.

She didn’t know this strange omega nor the notary. She didn’t know her baby was ill. She didn’t know anything about the operation.

She didn’t know that Chan and Hyunjin weren’t mates.

Dona sat devastated and heard the last will of her child.

Only a few words. He left her only a few words. And even in these few words, he still apologised to her. Her lovely, delicate baby. He always was like that. He had his heart on his sleeve and loved unconditionally.

She once again got aware of her surroundings and got to know that her son was fighting such a terrible illness for 2 years all alone. She knew that every word spoken by a stranger was right

She didn’t look at Chan who ran away. No, she went after Kim Seonghwa as she wanted to know one thing. She grabbed his hand making him turn around and look at her.

“Where is he?” she asked with a quiet voice “Where is my baby?”

The omega still looked at her with hatred, but answered her: “He lies next to his grandfather. Just like he wanted.”

It was enough for her. She let Seonghwa go. Jisung went to her, but she passed him and left the place. She knew her husband went after her.

They drove to the graveyard. They weren’t there in a long time. They drove in silence as they both couldn’t believe it. There wasn’t an option that their son was dead.

They parked their car and she ran to the grave of her father in law.

She stopped just before the grave and was afraid to look at it. Gathering all her courage she turned her eyes on the stone.

And there it was. Hwang Hyunjin and the picture of her boy. She dropped on her knees as it finally dawned on her.

She felt her husband behind her back and the desperation when he also read the gravered words.

Her son was really dead.

She didn’t cry. She looked at the photo of her son. She didn’t recognise this photo, she hadn't seen it before. He smiled at it. When was the last time she saw this smile? She didn’t know.

She could feel through their bond that her husband was as woeful as she. There also was guilt. As they both knew that their baby died convinced that they didn’t love him.

“We never showed him.” she said out loud.

“What?”

She stood up and looked at her mate “We never showed him our love. We never showed him our care. He never knew that he could rely on us. So he didn’t. “

Hwang Jaehyun grabbed her hand and answered, squeezing it tightly, “He really was our independent angel.”

That’s how they called him. He always was good on his own so when they adopted Jisung they focused on him. They were sure Hyunjin would handle everything.

“I really love him, you know that right?” Dona’s voice betrayed how much she wanted to cry.

“I know, love. But did he know?”

They both knew the answer. Her phone was buzzing all the time and she finally pulled it out ro check who it was.  ‘Jisungie ♥️’

She knew that Hyunjin wouldn’t call her anymore but she still looked at his contact. It looked different from Jisung’s. Just ‘Hyunjin’.

She turned her phone off.

“How could I be so blind, Jaehyun?” she cried “How could I miss our son’s state?”

He hugged her and whispered to her “I didn’t notice either. I don’t even know when was the last time I talked to him.”

They hugged for a while and went back home. Dona went inside Hyunjin’s old room. It was mostly empty. She could have sworn that she heard him calling her just like when he was 5 “Mommy!” She turned around and there wasn’t anyone.

She was alone in the room. She tried to find something Hyunjin’s and she found one stuffed animal left behind. It still had a barely noticeable scent of roses and caramel. The scent that once was her comfort. She then went to Jaehyung’s office and found him there, sitting in his armchair, drinking whisky. He looked in the space with a blank stare. She came closer to the shelf with photo albums. She took all of them and laid on the floor, sitting between them, searching.

She looked for Hyunjin’s photos. She found the ones from his birth to 13 years. After that there were only two - one from his graduation and one taken with Jisung. There were also from his wedding but she knew that all the smiles on her son’s face were fake. She could see it now.

She once again looked for photos from the period from 13 years old to now and she really didn’t find any more.

What she found was a huge amount of Jisung’s photos. She took them all from albums and took them away.

Jaehyun looked at what his wife was doing. He sat next to her on the floor.

“What are you doing?” he asked her gently.

She checked the same albums for the third time.

“There are only two. There are just two. Two.” She was checking for the fourth time.

Jaehyun took the two photos she found earlier and looked at them thoroughly.

His son’s eyes were without light. He smiled, but it wasn’t his usual sweet smile.

The last photos where he looked truly happy was before their vacation near the lake.

“Do you remember their lake vacation?” He asked her, stopping her from useless searching.

She sighed “Yes, the drowning accident. I slapped Jinnie after that.” she stopped for a minute “Even then it was weird for me. Hyunnie wasn’t like that. He always was too soft for this world. Why did I believe it then?” Dona sobbed thinking about her past mistakes.

“Look, we don’t even have his current photo. Jae, I don’t even know how he looked now. I didn’t see him for such a long time.” She cried on her husband’s arm and he hugged her.

“I didn’t tell him that I love him. My baby died thinking he was a disappointment. He always did everything we wanted from him. Did you ever tell him that you’re proud of him?” she asked Jaehyun while backing up and looking him in the face.

He shook his head “I didn’t. I was so amazed with Jisung and the way he was so similar to me, that I forgot about my own son. I didn’t give him a sense of security his alpha father should give him. I failed him and he still tried to be a good son.” This was the first time mighty Hwang Jaehyun was crying.

“You know, honey, he called me not so long ago. Asked me about something. I didn’t care enough to remember what for. I didn’t even want to speak to him. I brushed him off, told him to call me with something important.”

Dona let go of him, took all the photos of Hyunjin she found and went back to his old room. She took the plushie she found earlier and laid down with all of this stuff on his bed.

The scent of her baby was barely there. Soon it would disappear and she won't be able to smell it anymore. She wouldn’t see him. She wouldn’t talk to him.

What kind of mother was she that her son preferred to suffer alone then to tell her about his illness?

How could she call herself mother when she didn’t care about him for such a long time?

All she cared about was Jisung. She grimaced at the same thought of the other omega. It was her fault he was even in this family in the first place.

She let this parasite in and she let it take over.

She hugged Hyunjin’s plushie. Her delicate baby wouldn’t fight with anyone for attention. She knew that.

She still had these words in her head “I’m sorry I wasn’t the son you always wanted.”

“Oh, baby. You were everything I could ask for.”

Part four - Felix

Felix was in shock. Minho hyung had to help him walk out of the notary office as he wasn’t in the right state of mind.

He felt immense guilt. How was it possible that his former best friend was dead?

They used to be so close and now Felix wasn’t even sure he remembered how Hyunjin looked like nowadays. Was his hair black? Did his eyes get even bigger? Was his smile still dimpled?

He didn’t know. He got in the car and Minho hyung drove them back home.

“When was the last time you saw him?” Felix asked his husband.

Minho signed “I don’t remember. I can’t even remember when was the last time I talked with him.”

“Me neither.” was the only answer alpha got and Felix lost in thoughts.

Hyunjin was his first friend. They were so inseparable, their parents always joked they had the same brain cells. They used to spend all their time together. Hyunjin was the first person who knew about his crush on Minho hyung. Hyunjin was always his confidant, adviser and comforter.

Then Jisung came and it all ended.

Felix tried to find out why Jisung took Hyunjin’s place in his mind and heart, but he had no idea. What’s more, now that he thought about it, Jisung didn’t really do it.

Felix didn’t trust Jisung the way he once trusted Hyunjin. Yes, he thought of Jisung as a best friend, but their bond wasn’t as deep as it was with Hyunjin.

Did it even make sense? He thought of Hyunjin as his soulmate, but at the same time he pushed him away and replaced him with Jisung. With Jisung with whom his bond felt artificial.

He shook his head. It didn’t make sense.

Either way it didn’t matter anymore. Hyunjin was dead and he had no chance to fix their friendship. He thought about all the bad things he said and done to the adorable omega and his cheeks went red in shame.

He also thought about what Hyunjin felt when he found out about his disease. How lonely he must feel.

Felix saw the way Hyunjin’s parents treated him after they adopted Jisung. He talked to him about it when they still were best friends. Hyunjin smiled at him then and said “Jisung never experienced parental love. A little pampering won’t hurt him.”

This was Hyunjin. The person so kind and selfless.

And it looked like someone used it against him. Felix felt stupid. Stupid and guilty.

Now Hyunjin left him his shares in the dance studio and it was completely his and Minho’s. He didn’t deserve it. He wasn’t even mean to him in his last words and Felix didn’t find it surprising. Hyunjin wasn’t this type of person.

Felix failed him so much.

When they got home Felix could finally cry. And he cried about his childhood best friend, about his first friend here, about the huge amount of memories they had, about the memories they could have, but didn’t because of Felix stupid decisions.

He got a call from Jisung. He didn’t pick it up.

Part five - Jisung

Jisung was pissed off. Everybody was acting like some tragedy happened. People die every day, it’s nothing new. He will die one day too.

He was grateful he left his baby with a babysitter, so he could go to the company right away and take his rightful place. He worked hard for it.

When he got a chance to be adopted by a rich family he did everything he could to be chosen by them. It was easy as he was a poor, lonely, cute little omega. His charm was working on everyone.

After that he had to explore and find out what kind of people he was dealing with. It turned out he was really blessed.

Hwangs were stupid as hell, it was enough to pretend to be interested in their talks and show them a little of the talents he had.

At first he was afraid of Hyunjin. He was also an omega, a beautiful and talented one. He was afraid that Hyunjin would be jealous of him, that he would thwart his plans.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Hyunjin had every right to be a spoiled, selfish brat and made Jisung’s life a living hell. He turned out to be a gentle person with a huge heart, a naive omega looking for good in everyone. He welcomed Jisung with open arms and heart.

Instead of harming him, he made Jisung’s plans easier.

Jisung didn’t want to hurt Hyunjin in return, but sometimes we must destroy someone in a way to reach our goal.

And Jisung really deserved all the good treatment he got from everyone. He was a chosen one and he did everything to make his life what it was right now.

He tried to reach his mother, but she didn’t pick up her fucking phone. Stupid bitch probably felt guilty right now. Wasn’t it too late?

Then he tried to call his best friend and of course Felix wouldn’t answer either.

Why were they acting like that? Like they cared about Hyunjin at all? Did it really matter to them if he was dead or alive?

Jisung couldn’t understand them. It’s not like it would change anything. Hyunjin was gone, end of story.

At least he did one good thing before he died and it was giving his shares to Haneul. Jisung was in heaven as he could finally run the company together with Chan hyung. Like it always should be.

Let’s be honest, Hyunjin never deserved this shares nor Chan as his husband. They were too different to be a good marriage. Jisung suited Chan much more…

But now he had Changbin and he was happy with this outcome. After all Changbin wasn’t so hotheaded as Chan was.

He tried to call mother once more and she had to turn out her phone. He rolled his eyes at that. What’s the point in pretending now? It’s not like you loved Hyunjin in the first place.

Jisung entered his office, he would soon change it for a bigger one, and he thought about Hyunjin as he sat on his chair.

He remembered one memory - Jisung was truly afraid before going to school for the first time. After all, no matter what, he wasn’t a real Hwang. He didn’t want rich asses to bully him for that. Hyunjin hugged him tightly and calmed him down, promising to beat up everyone who would look in his direction in a bad way. This was the moment Jisung realised that he didn’t deserve Hyunjin as his brother.

But it was a long time ago and there was no point in remembering the past. Important was the present time and future.

He smiled at the thought of finally being a boss here.

Part six - Seungmin

Seungmin couldn’t really believe Hyunjin was gone. He believed it only when he got a package with a Hyunjin’s collection of cameras and cassettes.

They both loved photography and they used to go making photoshoots together. They also searched the whole internet looking for old cameras and then got all excited to take some photos with it.

The photos taken by it were totally different from the newest one. The old one had a soul in it. They were both fascinated by the way they could reflect reality.

He still had somewhere the pictures they took together.

Seungmin looked at Hyunjin’s treasures. How could Hyunnie think that Seungmin would sell them? These were priceless memories. He wouldn’t do that. Never.

Did Hyunjin really think that they didn’t mean anything to him?

After all, could he blame him? No. Seungmin didn’t give Hyunjin any sign that he treasured him or their memories. He pushed him away just like everyone else. He showed him that he wasn’t a trustworthy friend and he would forever feel guilty because of it.

The worse thing was that Seungmin didn’t have any explanation for his behaviour. He just didn’t like to get involved in drama. He wanted a peaceful life.

Hyunjin knew that and probably wouldn’t tell him about his disease even if they still would be as close as they once were.

Seungmin suddenly remembered something. He went to find it and it took him a lot of time to do it, but in the end he had it in his hand.

One of the last photoshoots he did with Jinnie. Even if Seungmin was now a professional photographer, these still were the best pictures he ever took.

He found the one he looked for and got into his car. He drove to the graveyard. He heard earlier that Hyunjin was there. He found Hyunnie’s grave. There was a photo he didn’t know. Still it was nice. He took out his gift. He placed it under the words Hwang Hyunjin. It was a photo of Hyunjin. His favourite one. From the moments when they were friends, Seungmin could tell that he had friends. Before he pushed away everyone, travelling to make photoshoots around the world.

He looked at the grave and for the first time sobbed over the fate of his friend.

Part seven - Jeongin

Life wasn’t easy for Yang Jeongin. He had strict parents who wanted him to be the heir of their company, when all he wanted to do was to sing.

He always loved music and often played with Hyunjin hyung. They both had artistic souls, so it was easy for them to talk about it. Hyunjin hyung was very supportive of his talent and encouraged him to do something about it.

The problem was that Jeongin’s parents didn’t agree. They cut off any talk about his interests and when he told them that he wanted to become a singer, there was such a huge fight that Jeongin couldn’t go out of his room for a week.

They forbade him any contact with music and forced him to take more finance lessons. He hated every minute of it.

He still sang in Hyunjin hyung room with him playing on piano for him. Hyunjin hyung always adored his voice and made sure to tell that to him every minute. He never before or after that was given so much support.

Finally his parents found out everything and gave him an ultimatum. He would be the real Yang and work in the company in the future or he would be disinherited.

He couldn’t see himself without his family’s financial support, he knew he was spoiled, so he stopped dreaming about a music career.

He also pushed away Hyunjin hyung as he was ashamed of himself and his decision. His hyung really believed in him and for Jeongin money was more important than dreams.

Now he would like to turn back time and be there with his favourite hyung. He would like to give him the same support his hyung used to give him. How terrible it must have been to struggle with the disease alone.

Jeongin cried when he heard the news about his hyung’s death. He cried even harder when he heard the last will and the way his hyung still cared about him, even in his worst moments.

A couple of days later he was given access to Hyunjin’s hyung bank account. There was a lot of money. Like his hyung was saving money.

He also got rights to Hwang Hyunjin’s every painting and art piece. He went to his hyung studio and cried there for a while looking at his beautiful visions.

He wouldn’t do what his hyung suggested. He wouldn’t sell them. Hyung wrote it like his paintings wouldn’t have any value to Jeongin and it wasn’t true. These were memories, the only things he had after his precious hyung.

Hyunjin hyung was right. Jeongin now had enough money to start his own music career.

He would do it. For his hyung and their shared dream.

Part eight - Chan

Chan was drunk. He could barely stand on his own. By some miracle he managed to lay down on Hyunjin’s old bed. It was his favourite place now.

He pulled out his phone to look at the pictures of his dead husband. He saw a lot of missed calls. From Minho - these he should have answered and told him he’s still alive. And from Jisung - these he didn’t answer even when he was sober.

He talked only with Minho these days. His in-laws were furious at him and he didn’t want to talk with his own parents as they were happy that he was free from unhappy marriage. He wanted to tear down the whole house when he heard his mother. She wanted to get him a new omega so she could finally have a grandchild. It didn’t matter to her that her son was mourning.

Chan couldn’t accept Hyunjin’s death. He couldn’t look in the mirror either. He hated himself and his alpha was also against him. His doctor said that his wolf was mourning his omega, that even if they weren’t mates, his alpha still recognised Hyunjin’s omega as his own.

Only alcohol could shut his howling wolf up.

Chan still went to work and he hated it as he had to work with Jisung. His hatred to himself expanded also on hating Jisung.

This Kim omega was right - Jisung was a fucking parasite.

He heard that Hwangs didn’t want to talk with Jisung anymore. Maybe Mr. Hwang a little, but Mrs. Hwang broke down completely after Hyunjin’s death. She didn’t want to talk, walk, eat or even live. She was lost in thoughts all the time. The only time she perked up for a moment was when she saw Jisung. She cursed him and threw him out of the room, screaming horrible things. Chan wasn’t sure what, but he didn’t care.

Minho said that Felix didn’t talk with Jisung either. It surprised him more than Mrs.Hwang's reaction. Minho said that Felix was sad that he left Hyunjin alone.

Chan supposed that their guilt didn’t make sense now, but still who was he to judge as he also was drowning in remorse.

He didn’t know what to do with his life now.

Epilogue - Seonghwa

It was a week after the reading of Hyunjin’s last will and Seonghwa was finally done with everything he was asked to do. He was free to go home.

He pulled out his phone and called his friend. After a few rings, on the screen appeared two familiar faces. He smiled at them widely. One of them still had a bandage around his head reminding of a recent surgery.

“Hyungie! How was my funeral?” Sweet, excited voice asked him. He bursted out laughing.
