Work Text:

Astoria kisses her for the first time the day after Daphne turns nine and is told in ten years, she’ll be married. “Don’t worry, Daphne.” Her voice, like her kiss, is soft and full of childlike love. “We’ll run away together. Then no one has to marry a stinky boy.”

Their second kiss is the morning of Astoria’s sixteenth birthday. Her sister is red-faced and crying, Daphne’s name uncovered on her wrist. Astoria’s name on Daphne’s hidden beneath spell and bracelet. “You didn’t tell me.” Desperate anger and anguish in Astoria’s voice, cracking around her tears between frantic kisses. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

They survive the following year, the War, the destruction of Hogwarts. Daphne’s fiancé calls off the wedding; his family doesn’t need the publicity hers will bring.

The Greengrass name will only help the Malfoys.

Daphne and Astoria kiss as Greengrasses for the last time the day Astoria is supposed to wed Draco Malfoy. Carefully planned and secretly packed, things they had whispered during the War, the sisters leave England and the Greengrass name behind.

Astoria Blake and Daphne Frost spend their lives as soulmates, happy and relaxed, far from the reaches of the British Wizarding World.
