Chapter Text
Rangi slowly slid down into the hot spring and sighed with contentment. Her aches and pains lessened as her muscles relaxed, and she leaned her head back against the side of the spring pool. She had wanted this for a while and they finally had the opportunity to sneak away for a moment.
She looked over at Kyoshi, who was still glancing around, unsure of getting undressed in the middle of the forest. “This hot spring is on the same land property that the house sits on. No one is going to wander this way.”
“Are you sure?” Kyoshi asked.
“You have undressed to take baths in rivers before while on trips,” Rangi said while swimming over to the edge of the pool closest to Kyoshi. She kept herself submerged from the neck down. “This hot spring is on private land that belongs directly to, well… me. I promise it’s safe.”
With a bit of newfound confidence, Kyoshi nodded and pulled her robe off. She folded it up neatly and gently placed it on a large rock next to Rangi’s robe. Rangi moved back and watched as Kyoshi gently stepped into the hot spring and carefully sank down, submerging herself up to neck height as well. Smiling fondly, Rangi reached out and grabbed Kyoshi’s hand, pulling her toward the rock shelf she was currently sitting on.
Kyoshi finally relaxed as she settled in next to Rangi. A soft sigh fell from her.
“Told you,” muttered Rangi. “It’s nice, isn’t it?”
“Very.”
She looked over to see Kyoshi’s eyes closed and a soft smile across her lips as she relaxed into the warmth. It had been some time since they last took a moment to relax and heal. While they had a break at the home island of the Sei’naka family, Rangi decided to introduce Kyoshi to one of the various hot spring pools sprinkled across the island.
“Can we get one of these at the estate back in Yokoya?” Kyoshi asked.
Rangi chuckled. “That might be one of your best ideas yet.” She glanced over again to see Kyoshi leaning her head back against the side of the pool. It left her neck open. Rangi’s eyes traced along the freckles and long scar. If given the chance, she would count Kyoshi’s freckles one by one, giving each dot a kiss to express the love she had for the little constellations across Kyoshi’s skin.
In her eyes, Kyoshi deserved the world. Kyoshi deserved an overwhelming amount of love, and Rangi wanted to make sure she knew that.
