TRUTH IN THE TOUCH
August 1997.
The Sun was bearing down mercilessly on their summer house in Palma de Mallorca, but, luckily, the shrubbery and palm trees surrounding the house provided them with enough of a shade to enjoy the afternoon outside.
It was really nice, and Harry found himself dozing off with his head resting against his beloved's shoulder as they relaxed on a matching pair of chaise lounges beside the swimming pool, his nose filled with his entrancing scent.
"What 's got you smiling like that?", Voldemort asked with a hint of amusement in his voice and Harry's smile widened.
"You.", he answered covering his hand with his own. "I get to be with you and breathe you in all day long. To me it 's more than enough of a reason to smile."
"If you say so.", Voldemort said summoning one of the bottles of Corona from the ice-filled bucket on the garden table.
"I don't even want to imagine what my life would 've been like if we hadn't gotten together.", Harry commented watching the sunlight reflecting in the water surface.
"You 're right.", Voldemort said taking a sip. "Someone else would be here in my place right now, enjoying himself in my house and sipping on my beer."
"Oh.", Harry exhaled taken aback by his beloved's statement, for he definitely hasn't been expecting to hear something like that.
But, then again, he wasn't too surprised considering it was Voldemort, and he smiled to himself because he knew he didn't really mean it; the soft brush of bony fingers against his own was a proof he was right.
