Chapter Text
The sounds of his own screams of pure agony as his bones shattered and changed- as his whole body took new shape and regrew. It still haunted him, years later. He’d often wake up screaming and hyperventilating before coming to his senses and realizing he was still in the desolate room he cramped himself in. Because of this, he rarely got sleep, that was okay though considering he needed to be aware of the surviving expendables venturing through the Hadal Division.
The only thing really keeping his sanity somewhat in check was the humans that would come and go, buying his wares in exchange for documents and assets. He refused to admit it, but he genuinely enjoyed their company whenever one of them made it to his makeshift shop. The humans were the only living things in this underwater building other than the different monsters lurking around every corner- and he didn’t fancy talking to a screeching anglerfish.
He softly tapped his tail against the wall and closed his eyes, listening to the trash noises of the radio he had acquired. His makeshift jamming out session was interrupted by the distant noise of a heavy door opening, causing his head fin to flick and tail to go stiff. He slowly maneuvered his way to peek through the vent just in time to hear the door to the room opening and the heavy clanking of diving gear. Using his third arm, he punched the vent grate and whispered slightly to get their attention.
He moved back to his original position as he heard the human crawling through the small vent, as they emerged into his room, his bioluminescent bulb flickered on and he grinned. “Hello there, my name is Sebastian. Your only friend.”
