Work Text:

Nick’s heart raced as he knocked on Charlie’s door, each thud echoing his anxious heartbeat. For the past eight months, since the day he met Charlie, Nick had been trying to decipher the magnetic pull he felt toward him. It was an emotion so intense, it often left him breathless and confused. He had spent countless sleepless nights pondering, until he finally recognized it for what it was: affection, deep and profound. After careful introspection and research, Nick had come to a life-changing conclusion about his identity. He was bisexual.

Just a few days ago, with his heart in his throat, Nick had confided in his mother. To his immense relief, she had enveloped him in a warm hug, her eyes brimming with pride and acceptance. That moment of unconditional love had given Nick the courage to take the next step. He knew he had to tell Charlie.

As he stood on Charlie’s porch, he wiped his sweating palms on his jeans, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He could hear footsteps approaching from the other side of the door. The creak of the door opening made his breath hitch. There stood Charlie, his expression a mix of puzzlement and hope.

"Nick? Is everything okay?” Charlie's voice was a comforting anchor in the storm of Nick's emotions.

Nick took a deep breath, searching for the right words. “Yeah, I just... I needed to see you.”

Charlie stepped aside, gesturing for Nick to come in. “Come in. What’s going on?”

Nick entered, his eyes scanning the familiar, cozy room. Each item seemed to hold a memory of their friendship, making his heart ache with a mixture of fear and hope. “I’ve been thinking a lot lately,” Nick began, his voice trembling. “About us. About everything we’ve been through.”

Charlie’s eyes softened as he moved closer, his presence steady and reassuring. “Go on.”

Nick swallowed hard, locking eyes with Charlie. “I realized something important. I realized that I don’t want to go another day without telling you how I feel.” He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. “Charlie, I like you, romantically.”

A stunned silence filled the room. Charlie’s eyes widened, his mouth opening slightly in disbelief. Nick held his breath, anxiously awaiting Charlie's reaction. After what felt like an eternity, a smile slowly spread across Charlie’s face. He reached out, gently taking Nick’s hands in his. “Let’s go to my room, it’ll be more private there.”

Nick nodded, following Charlie down the familiar hallway. Each step seemed to echo with the intensity of his feelings. They reached Charlie’s room, the place that held so many shared memories. Nick inhaled deeply, the scent of Charlie’s cologne mixed with the freshness of clean sheets wrapping around him like a comforting blanket. The room was a testament to their bond, filled with mementos of their time together. Nick could feel his heart pounding in his chest as Charlie closed the door behind them.

Charlie turned to Nick, his eyes full of genuine affection. "I’ve waited so long to hear you say that," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.

"I can't believe this is real," Nick murmured, almost to himself.

Charlie took a step closer, his hand gently stroking Nick's cheek. "We’re real, Nick," he affirmed, his voice a soothing balm to Nick’s nerves. He squeezed Nick’s hands, grounding him in the reality of the moment. Nick's eyes locked onto Charlie's, the intensity between them palpable. Their breaths mingled in the small space between them. Nick swallowed hard, lost in the warmth of Charlie’s gaze.

Nick sighed happily, before asking quietly, “Can I kiss you?”

Charlie didn’t respond with words. Instead, he closed the remaining distance between them, their lips meeting in a soft, gentle kiss. The world seemed to fade away as their kiss deepened, leaving only the two of them in that moment, surrounded by pure emotion. Time stood still as Nick and Charlie lost themselves in the kiss, their hearts beating in sync. When they finally broke apart, they stayed close, foreheads still touching.

"I’ve been wanting to do that for so long," Nick admitted, his voice trembling with emotion.

Charlie chuckled softly, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. “Me too,” he whispered, his voice filled with warmth and sincerity. “This feels like a dream.”

Nick nodded, a smile spreading across his face. “If it is, I never want to wake up.”

Charlie cupped Nick's face gently, his eyes shimmering with unspoken love. "I like you romantically, Nicholas," Charlie finally confessed, his thumb tracing over Nick's cheekbone. Nick's heart soared at the words, his cheeks flushing a soft pink. He smiled back at Charlie, feeling a joy so profound it was almost overwhelming.

“You have no idea how happy that makes me," Nick confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. Charlie’s smile widened, his happiness mirroring Nick's.

They stayed there, holding each other, entwined in their own little bubble of happiness. Their fingers intertwined as if they were each other's lifelines, grounding one another in their shared reality.

The world outside seemed miles away, unimportant and distant compared to the closeness they now felt. They knew that this was just the beginning of their journey together, but in that moment, they were content to simply be, wrapped in the warmth of their newfound love.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Charlie spoke, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and hope. “I can’t wait to see where this takes us.”

Nick’s smile widened, his heart swelling with love and anticipation. “Me neither,” he replied softly, his voice full of promise. “Me neither.”

They sat down on Charlie’s bed, talking about how Nick realized his feelings for Charlie. They started planning a future where they could be together openly and happily. With each word, they grew closer, their connection deepening, the foundation of their relationship strengthening. The journey ahead was unknown, but together, they knew they could face anything. They laughed, reminisced, and shared their deepest fears and aspirations, feeling more connected than ever. The night stretched on, but neither of them wanted it to end.
