Chapter Text
It was Satoru’s idea to come here in the first place.
Despite them going to a party school, they’d never been to a thing like this. Suguru hadn’t gone because he found his schoolmates insufferable at the best of times, and Satoru because he had some terrible experience with alcohol in high school that he refused to tell Suguru about. But they were graduating that year, and Satoru, popular as he was, had been consistently invited to these things since the moment he stepped through those college gates. Satoru insisted that they needed to go to at least one, and Suguru had historically had difficultly telling Satoru no, so here they were.
There was an actual DJ at the house party, which surprised Suguru, as well as the scope. It seemed like at least two hundred people spilled throughout the dining room, living room, kitchen, and into the backyard and pool. Suguru hoped against hope that Satoru wasn’t going to jump into that pool.
Currently, Suguru was leaning against a wall and doing his best to blend into the shadows, and Satoru was front and center on the dance floor. He had tried for a bit to pull Suguru to the dance floor with him, but Suguru had adamantly refused, promising Satoru that he would watch instead. There was a lot of whining and clinging, but Suguru didn’t budge until eventually someone else dragged Satoru out onto the floor. Satoru almost dropped his drink in his attempt to give it to Suguru for safekeeping before Suguru was stolen away.
Honestly, thank God Satoru gave his drink to Suguru instead of someone else. Suguru saw the way other people were eyeing his best friend, and roofied drinks, especially at college frat parties, were extremely common. Satoru thought he was invincible, but Suguru was smart enough and sober enough to be the responsible one between the two of them.
For just a moment, hidden in the shadows against the wall like he was, Suguru allowed the normal twinge of jealousy to flare up into something bigger as he watched people flock around Satoru, obvious in their body language what they wanted from him. Satoru, of course, was soaking up the attention. Suguru gave Satoru shit for having such a big ego, but it was easy to see that his ego wasn’t unwarranted. For better or worse, people loved him.
As Satoru leaned down to allow a girl to yell something into his ear in order to be heard over the music, Suguru forced his attention to focus elsewhere. While his gaze swept the room, he accidentally made eye contact with one of his classmates. The classmate smiled and waved, and Suguru smiled and nodded his head in response. He watched as the classmate broke away from the conversation he was having, then struggled to fight his way through the dense crowd.
Although Suguru was far from social, this classmate had taken a liking to him, if the way he kept choosing to sit next to and initiate conversations with him were indicative. Surface-level though those conversations were, Suguru did find him nice company. It was flattering, for one, and he was obviously a decent person. (And although Suguru would never be crass enough to say so out loud, he was nice to look at.)
“Hey, Suguru!” the classmate said, slightly out of breath, as he settled against the wall next to Suguru. A brief feeling of guilt passes by as Suguru realizes he never bothered to remember his classmate’s name. “Wouldn’t have expected to find you here. Didn’t you say you hated parties?”
Suguru hummed in agreement and turned his body to face the classmate. His blond hair was pulled back into a half-up, half-down style, and it was a good look on him. Suguru had elected to leave his down.
“Yeah, I normally do. But my friend insisted that we go, so, I’m on drink duty.” Suguru nodded to his hands, one carrying his drink, the other carrying Satoru’s.
His classmate was always more of the talker in their relationship, and Suguru let him lead the conversation as they talked. His eyes flitted over his classmate as they talked, admiring and then complimenting how good he looked in his outfit. The classmate stuttered out a thank you, and Suguru didn’t miss the blush that crawled up his neck. Ah—so it was like that. Suguru had just shifted a bit closer to his classmate, close enough to be more intimate but far enough to not be invasive, when a sudden weight fell against his back.
“Suguruuuuuuuu, who’s your friend?”
Suguru put on an irritated face—and indeed, he wanted to be irritated, but he could never seem to find Satoru anything but irritatingly endearing these days—and turned his face towards Satoru. Their faces were very close, and his heart briefly fluttered in response before settling.
“Satoru, don’t interrupt,” Suguru scolded, trying to cover the fact that he didn’t know his classmate’s name.
Luckily, he introduced himself. “I’m Katsuki Haru, from Suguru’s music theory class.” Katsuki offered out a hand to Satoru, who accepted it only by leaning even more of his weight against Suguru’s back, chin hooked over his shoulder. Suguru was basically wearing Satoru like a cloak. The mix of his normal cologne and the alcohol he’d drank filled Suguru’s senses, making him feel more tipsy than he was.
“Gojo Satoru, from Suguru’s high school,” Satoru said, smile sharp and glasses slipping down his face. Suguru fought down the urge to reach up and fix them.
When Suguru looked back to Katsuki, there was a light of recognition in his eyes that Suguru didn’t like. Satoru had this habit of scaring people into leaving Suguru all alone. As much as Suguru liked having Satoru’s full attention, he knew that Satoru didn’t feel the same way about Suguru that he did about Satoru, so it was actually a huge interference when Satoru would scared away every person Suguru tried to flirt with. But Satoru had a strong allure to him, and even as he scared Katsuki away, Suguru could tell that Satoru was drawing Katsuki in, as well. All while draping himself over Suguru’s back.
“I want another drink,” Satoru whined, pulling Suguru toward the kitchen where the drinks were. “Come with me~”
Suguru gave Katsuki a brief and apologetic goodbye as he was yanked away, and then Suguru was half walking with, half supporting Satoru as they moved through the house.
“What the hell, Satoru? I was having a conversation.”
“Whatever, I’m your best friend, so I take precedence.” Satoru took his drink from Suguru’s hand and downed what was left. For their next drinks, Suguru got the both of them a water, lying to Satoru that it was actually vodka and trying not to laugh as Satoru drank the cup of water like a shot.
Here in the huge kitchen, there were much less people, and the loud music was more of a sensation thrumming through the floor than anything. So, although Suguru could hear Satoru perfectly fine, he still insisted on pressing up against Suguru and talking so close to his ear that it made Suguru’s toes curl.
“Lighten up, Suguru, it’s like you’re not even having any fun,” Satoru whined.
“I was before you interrupted.”
Satoru grunted in protest as Suguru readjusted Satoru to be leaning against the counter instead of dead-weighting on Suguru’s back. It was a fruitless attempt; Satoru just latched back on. “You’re such a leech,” Suguru said, trying to sound like he wasn’t happy about it.
But he must not have done too well, because Satoru grinned wide and pressed his hand against the corner of Suguru’s face, where Suguru realized he was smiling. “You love it,” Satoru said, singsong.
“Yeah, yeah.” Suguru went to grab Satoru’s hand to pull it away, but Satoru turned his hand around and threaded their fingers together instead.
Satoru was always touchy, but this was pretty extreme. Nothing less than how he expected a drunk Satoru to act, though. As always, Satoru had his glasses on, but Suguru was at an angle where he could see how hazy Satoru’s eyes looked. They were as bright as ever, but had trouble focusing on any one thing. And Suguru suspected that Satoru was leaning on Suguru as much for support as his natural clinginess.
“Ready to leave soon?” Suguru asked.
He expected some whining and a refusal, but instead Satoru pressed his face into Suguru’s shoulder and mumbled something unintelligible.
“Satoru, I can’t hear you.”
Satoru lifted his head just enough for his words to not be muffled into Suguru’s shirt. “I wanted to dance with you.”
“Satoru, you knew that I don’t like parties.”
“Just one song? C’mon, Suguruuuu~” Satoru’s free hand dragged across his midsection before hooking onto his waist and pulling the two of them impossibly closer, and Satoru had once again pressed his mouth against Suguru’s ear. A full-body shiver went through Suguru’s body, and his breath caught. Drunk Satoru was not good for his heart.
Suguru let out a long breath, pretending to be annoyed but really just trying to ground himself. “One song, and we leave after.”
Satoru had already started pulling them toward the living room before Suguru was even done talking, obviously having stopped listening after the first two words.
The dance floor was slightly less packed than before, which was both a blessing and a curse. As much as Suguru hated dense crowds, he also hated being watched.
But, he thought as he watched Satoru’s bright smile as they started to dance, Satoru always pulls all eyes to himself, anyway.
Satoru obviously had no sense of insecurity as he started dancing to the fast, energetic songs. In contrast, Suguru just did his best to move back and forth in time. The small amount of alcohol that he had had, as well as Satoru taking the lead on where and how they should dance, made it a bit easier to ignore the feeling of eyes on his back.
That song ended and another one started, and of course Satoru just pulled Suguru closer instead of letting him lead them off the floor. Suguru opened his mouth to scold his friend, but Satoru, in lieu of being able to plead his case over the loud music, tilted his head down so that he could give his puppy eyes, full-force.
Suguru scowled and pushed Satoru’s glasses farther up his nose so that Suguru couldn’t see that expression of his. Fucking puppy eyes. Suguru couldn’t resist anything Satoru asked when he flashed his eyes like that, and Satoru knew it. Suguru closed his eyes and prayed for patience before opening them again and finding Satoru making that same damn face. Even with his glasses covering them, Suguru knew exactly what his eyes looked like.
“Fine,” Suguru said, and although there was no way Satoru could hear him, Satoru lit up at reading the word on Suguru’s lips.
For the next song, Satoru pulled them close—even closer than when they were in the kitchen, so that the entire front of Suguru was pressed against the front of Satoru—and the next few minutes were a wonderful torture for Suguru. Truly, having his best friend that he as secretly in love with and painfully attracted to rocking against him like that was some sort of punishment from God.
After that song, Suguru managed to pull them both off the dance floor, despite Satoru’s heels digging into the ground. But by the time they were out of the house, he stopped complaining, instead falling into step next to Suguru, where he walked steadily enough on his own. He was obviously tired, much as he put up a fuss about leaving.
After getting into the car, Suguru began driving them toward Satoru’s apartment, until Satoru started insisting that Suguru let Satoru sleep over at his place, instead. As usual, Suguru put up a fight about it but immediately caved. Half an hour later, they were sprawled out on Suguru’s couch watching a movie. Normally Suguru would never use the television so late, but his roommate Nanami was out of town for the weekend. Suguru had allowed Satoru to adjust the two of them to his liking, ending with Satoru lying atop Suguru, technically with his body on the inside of the couch, but with his arm and leg flung across Suguru’s body and his head propped on Suguru’s chest so that he could watch the film.
About halfway through the movie, Satoru pressed his face into Suguru’s neck. Suguru shivered for a moment at the breath tickling his neck, but quickly got used to it, as Satoru tended to get into that position whenever he was done watching the movie and had begun drifting off to sleep, instead. Suguru decided to let the movie finish before waking up Satoru and insisting they go to bed.
The film Satoru had picked out was actually one of Suguru’s favorites, so he was pretty enraptured when he suddenly felt a kiss against his neck.
Suguru immediately tensed up in shock, lying stock-still as he tried to decide whether he had imagined it or not. Surely it was just Satoru further nuzzling into his neck, right? Not an actual kiss? But then he felt it again, the same sensation as before, and then something wet—
It took a few seconds for Suguru to process the fact that Satoru was licking Suguru’s neck before he reacted. “Satoru,” Suguru breathed out, sounding like he had been punched, “what are you…?”
Satoru rocked his body against the side of Suguru’s, and Suguru realized with a rapidly-increasing heartbeat that Satoru was hard. For a surreal moment, Suguru thought that he must be dreaming.
But then he remembered that Satoru had been drunk not an hour ago, and in all likelihood still was, and he quickly sat up, ignoring Satoru’s whine as he was displaced. Suguru had taken off Satoru’s glasses when it became clear that he was no longer watching the movie, so Suguru felt a physical jolt go through his heart when he looked down at Satoru’s expression.
His eyes were half lidded, cheeks flushed alluringly, and—oh, God—Satoru’s pants were tented from his erection. All of it put together was an image from Suguru’s wildest wet dreams. Once again, Suguru considered the possibility that he was dreaming.
“Suguru, come back,” Satoru panted, and hearing Satoru say his name like that was something that Suguru would think about for the rest of his life, probably.
“Satoru,” Suguru started, but then was at a loss for words as he looked down at the scene before him. Taking advantage of Suguru’s hesitation, Satoru pulled his friend down with much more strength than a drunk, half-asleep person really had any right to have and immediately crawled on top of Suguru, pinning him. Their hips pressed together at just the right angle, and Suguru bit down hard on his tongue to avoid letting out a punched-out moan. In the next moment, Satoru’s lips were pressed against his.
When Suguru made no move to reciprocate, Satoru ran his tongue over Suguru’s lip piercing and whined, and Suguru’s already-frayed willpower snapped.
He threaded his fingers through Satoru’s hair, like he had dreamed of doing so many times, and angled Satoru’s head so that they could deepen the kiss. Loose and desperate as Satoru was, Satoru did his best to give as good as he got, but he could do little more than hold himself up as Suguru pressed his tongue into Satoru’s mouth, sliding their tongues together and running his tongue piercing against Satoru’s teeth, which made Satoru let out a delicious sound.
Even under the sharp taste of alcohol, Satoru was sweet, like those stupid strawberry lollipops he’s always sucking on. The knowledge of what Satoru tasted like sent the feeling of deepest satisfaction running through Suguru’s blood like a drug.
Suguru had been with quite a few people before (probably more than Satoru, because, playboy that he may have pretended to be, he usually wasn’t interested in other people that way), but Suguru had never felt this overwhelming need for someone before. Suguru felt like all his veins were on fire, every touch amplified a hundred times, his nerves working overtime to keep up with all the raw sensation.
Satoru broke away to pant into Suguru’s ear, and Suguru used the opportunity to bite down on Satoru’s beautifully pale and woefully unblemished neck.
“Ah, hah, Suguruu,” Satoru cried, beginning to sloppily grind their bodies together, hips stuttering every time Suguru licked or bit down. For a while, Satoru did little more than pant and moan into Suguru’s ear, which was just—holy fuck, Suguru would never have a problem getting off for the rest of his life—but then he began biting and licking at Suguru’s ear, which Suguru had no idea could feel so good.
Without realizing, Suguru had also begun rocking his hips up to meet Satoru’s. Overwhelmed by the new stimulus, Satoru pressed his face against Suguru’s shoulder to muffle the rapidly-increasing volume of his voice.
Suguru had felt beyond himself, the pleasure making him delirious, but suddenly, the idea of Satoru actually coming made everything feel much too real. A feeling of self-disgust rising in the back of his throat, Suguru used his iron grip to still Satoru’s hips and then sit the both of them up, trying to disentangle himself from Satoru’s grip as gently and firmly as possible.
Satoru whined wordlessly in protest, but Suguru was the stronger of the two of them, and held Satoru back with relative ease.
“Satoru. Satoru,” Suguru said again, dipping his head so that Satoru would have to make eye contact with him. His eyes were hazy, how much with alcohol and how much with lust, it was impossible to tell. But, finally, his bright eyes focused on Suguru’s dark ones. “We need to get you to bed.”
Satoru blinked once before the words settled in. His expression dropped in a way that Suguru was not emotionally prepared for—it made him feel like the worst type of person. “What? Suguru, no, please—”
“Satoru.” Suguru chanced lifting a hand from Satoru’s hip to bring it up to Satoru’s face, where he ran a thumb under Satoru’s eye. “You’re drunk.”
His lip pushed out in a pout. “So?”
Despite the situation, Suguru couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “You know ‘so’. You’re not supposed to sleep with people when they’re drunk, unless you’ve already had a conversation about it. That’s pretty basic consent.”
To Suguru’s complete and utter shock, Satoru began tearing up. “Why don’t you like me?”
At a loss for words, Suguru’s mouth opened and closed a few times before he was able to say, “I like you.”
“Not the way I like you, though.” Satoru’s chest began hitching up and down, and a few tears dropped from his chin into Suguru’s shirt.
Suguru really couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Satoru was drunk, which meant that whatever he said couldn’t be trusted, but—he was also crying. Suguru felt a dangerous hope balloon up in his chest, but did his best to shove it down for the moment. Regardless of whether or not Satoru meant it, Suguru just needed to focus on calming him down and getting him to bed. Going from an intensely charged sexual situation to a complete standstill could be really upsetting for people—the hormones and heightened emotional state made it much easier to switch from one intense emotion to another, rather than calm down. Still, seeing Satoru get that upset was shocking. Maybe this was why he had avoided alcohol for so long.
“Satoru,” Suguru said, and he was distantly aware that his voice had never been that soft before, “I wouldn’t have kissed back if I didn’t want to.” The cat was already out of the bag, Suguru figured, and Satoru very well may not even remember everything in the morning, anyway. “But you’re drunk. We have to stop.”
Satoru let his head fall against Suguru’s shoulder, and Suguru tenses up for a second before realizing Satoru just intended to let his head rest there. For a few moments, Suguru just ran his hands through Satoru’s white hair, before Satoru said something Suguru couldn’t hear.
“Didn’t catch that.”
Satoru sat up so that he was face to face with Suguru. There was a fine line of pink under his eyes from crying. “I said, ‘m not even drunk.”
Suguru smiled. “Even you know that’s a lie.” Satoru stuck his tongue out.
“C’mon, bed time.”
Satoru let out a dramatic sigh, possibly the most dramatic he had ever given. “Okay, fine. You’re such a gentleman, blah, blah, carry me to bed.”
“I can’t get up if you’re still sitting on me.”
“Sure you can,” Satoru said, locking his arms behind Suguru’s neck. Suguru smiled, endeared despite his better judgement, and slowly scooted the two of them toward the edge of the couch before standing up with his hands supporting Satoru’s lower half.
“You just wanted to touch by butt,” Satoru said as Suguru carried him to the bedroom.
“Shut up,” Suguru said without bite, “this was your idea.”
Satoru tried to convince Suguru to help him change out of his clothes, but Suguru just threw a spare sleeping shirt and pants at Satoru’s head before going to the bathroom with his own change of clothes.
When he got back, he thought for a moment that his friend was already fast asleep under the covers, but one of his icy-blue eyes cracked open when, instead of joining Satoru in bed, Suguru simply put his dirty clothes in the hamper before turning around again to leave.
“Goodnight, Satoru,” he said, already wondering how the morning was going to go.
“What—Suguru, no, get back here,” Satoru slurred, obviously barely holding on to consciousness.
Suguru hesitated by the door. Was it a good idea? Probably not. But they’d always slept in the same bed before, and Satoru was making those damn eyes again.
Suguru sighed through his nose before admitting defeat and making his way over to the bed. Smiling wide, Satoru made room while the other climbed in, just to quickly latch on once they were both under the covers.
Suguru allowed Satoru to arrange the two of them until they were tangled together in their normal fashion. Since this was not an unusual position for the two of them to sleep in, Suguru allowed one of his arms to wrap around Satoru’s waist. Although his mind was racing and he was convinced that he wouldn’t get a wink of sleep, he managed to drop off only a few minutes after Satoru.
