You're the elder brother of Jake Portman, the first son, you, like Jake, are also peculiar. Although in many different ways than your brother. You moved with the children and Miss Peregrine as when you were 16 there were complications with your family and school, it also didn't help as your parents made it seem you weren't mentally okay because of these problems. Your body had begun to react to your peculiarity not being used your skin began to shed and go scaly and dry. This had your parents stressed and found you abnormal, so you were sent to numerous doctors and they couldn't give you an answer, so when you were 17 you were sent somewhere you didn’t know, yet your grandpa did.

July 17th 2011
”I’m going to miss you..” a 12-year-old Jake said, “I’m going to miss you too Jake, I promise I’ll call, I’ll send letters as much as I can” I said. I was going to so ‘Children’s home’ Grandpa would tell us about ”Come on M/n, let’s go, we need to get to the ferry on time” Grandpa said, he hugged Jake and I did as well and we left the house, we walked to the car and then began to drive towards the dock. “I’m sorry” Grandpa said, “This isn’t the way I want you to meet them” he said keeping his eyes on the road, “It’s fine… I guess?” I said, gently biting my lip, “I just never thought my parents would give me up so easily” I said, Grandpa sighed. “Franklin would never give up on you so easily, it’s just complicated,” Grandpa said, it took us a good while to get onto the ferry and then set sail for Wales.
“I just want to say this one thing,” Grandpa said 10 minutes before we left the ferry, “When I leave, never. And I mean never, go out of the loop unless either something bad has happened or Miss Peregrine has told you to” Grandpa said then faced me. "Got it?” He said I nodded, “Good, it can be dangerous around here, very, if you're not careful,” he said, “I also want to give you this” he said, he grabbed a small box and then a larger one, he handed me the smaller one, “Open it,” he said, I opened it, it was a box with a locket inside, I smiled, I looked at the larger one. "What’s this for?” I asked, “you’ll see, you’ll see soon..” he said then handed me the bigger box, “I wanted to give this to you on your birthday, but I cannot give it to you on that day, so I will give it to you today,” he said, “But please, don’t open it until your 21st in the loop” he said.
I smiled, I then hugged him, and he hugged me back, “Thank you, Grandpa,” I said, he looked up, he pointed to a Peregrine Falcon, “look”, he said, I looked and smiled, “That could be Miss Peregrine,” he said. I nodded, and the ferry then slowly came to a halt, we then stood up and began to walk off carrying my bags. "Follow me, make sure. No one and I mean no one is with us” Grandpa said, I nodded, and we then began to walk to a rocky part of the beach, he led me through a cave and stopped, “They know that you are coming, but I may not come with you after that point,” he said.
He took hold of my hand and walked with me through this thing, “Now, go up there through the cave and go past the forest and you will get to the home” he said, I turned to look at him, “But Grandpa…” I said, “It’s ok, just go, I’ll send letters,” he said, I began to slowly walk to the exit of the cave, “Goodbye Y/n,” he said, “Goodbye..” I said and then he left. He left… he left me here… I then began to walk out of the cave.
——————September 3rd 1943——————
It led me to a trail, I then saw three people walking in the distance, I stared at them, and they carried on walking until they got to me, “Hello, you must be Y/n?” A girl said she had blonde hair a light blue dress and lead big shoes. "Yes… I’m Y/n Portman..” I said, “Well it’s lovely to meet you, I’m Emma” she said putting her hand out, I shook it, “That’s Millard and there is Olive” She then said, Millard, he had nobody yet could still wear clothes, odd, although I knew all this stuff before from Grandpa’s stories. There was Olive who waved, she had red fire-like hair and she wore a rosy pink dress with black flowers on, she also had black gloves on, Millard who had nodded had an old hat on, he wore a reddish jumper and creamy trousers.
I smiled softly, “It’s nice to meet you all as well,” I said, “Well,” Emma said pulling out a pocket watch, “It’s almost 1, Miss Peregrine wants us to be back before 1:30” She then said Millard and Olive then turned around, “Okay,” I said as I then readjusted my bag, I had two bags, “Let me take that for you M/n” Millard said taking my bag on my left shoulder. “Ah thank you, Millard,” I said, we then began to walk in silence, “What’s it like in the future?” Olive asked, “Do you have floating things, Floating cars?!” She asked intrigued, I chuckled, and the two then looked at me intrigued as well, “Well… no… not really, but we have new telephones,” I said then taking out mine, the three gasped, “Woah… Miss Peregrine lets us watch her use the phone, we’ve never seen one like this” Olive said.
I chuckled, “That’s it..” Emma said, she indicated to the building in front of us, I put my phone away, “Welcome home Y/n” Olive then said, and we began to walk up to the house. "Miss Peregrine will be happy to have you here” Emma said, we then walked up to the house, and Miss Peregrine opened the door, “Right on time. It’s wonderful to finally meet you Y/n!” She said smiling, “My grandpa has told me a lot about you all, it’s also very nice to meet you all finally,” I said. She let us in, I saw at least a few people in the hall, they were all between the ages 5-10 though, maybe a little bit older. “Now, I bet you already know the majority of us by now, but let me introduce you to them all” she said, “This is Fiona” Miss Peregrine said and Fiona came up to her and nodded, “Lovely to meet you Y/n!” She said then ran off, the twins came next, “These are the twins” they just squealed and ran off.
“The others are outside,” Miss Peregrine said, she then began to lead me outside, there were more children, I saw Emma and a boy, Millard and another boy, honestly I knew who they were.
”There, is Emma who you've met, that’s Enoch next to her, then Bronwyn. Then with Millard there is Hugh, there is Victor and Horace, with The Twins, there is Claire, that’s everyone” She said, “Supper is at 5, I’ll introduce you to everyone then” she said. I smiled and nodded, “I’ll get Enoch to show you around the house once he’s done with Emma” she said, I nodded, “So, do you know your peculiarity?” She asked, I shook my head, "I know I have it but I don't know what it is just yet." I said, "Ah... well, over time we shall find out what it is then my dear." She said smiling softly. I noticed the others looking at me, and I then nodded. “Wait you don’t know?” Olive said, “Yeah,” I said, Enoch then walked over, “Ah Enoch, could you take M/n and show him around and take him to Abe’s room?” Miss Peregrine asked, “Ok,” Enoch said.
Enoch is wearing a waist-high dark green khaki, his shirt is a grey-and-black long-sleeved, button-up shirt, and he has dark brown hair.
I picked up my bags and then began to walk with him, “So… what’s your peculiarity?” I asked, “Dead riser, I can raise the dead basically, I can use human hearts or humane hearts to raise things or unalive humans.” He said I smiled, "What's yours?" he began before pausing, “You’ll probably fall in love with… Olive or Emma and then just leave us like your grandfather did, so there is no use in becoming my friend.” he said, I paused, “I…” I said before laughing, he looked at me confused, “You got that really wrong Enoch” I said smiling. "I… like boys.?” I said hesitantly. I am shaken with how the words are just flying out of my mouth right now! I just carried on. His face paused, “I see” he said, it was silent for a while before he spoke up. "I don't have a problem with you liking boys... as a boy yourself, for all I know neither do the others, we're not that old-fashioned. " He said nonchalantly before continuing on our walk.
“Well this is the entrance to the garden” Enoch then said leading me through the door. "As you can see, here is the hallway leading to the kitchen, the parlour and the living room” he said, “Now, if you follow me we will get to the bedrooms, we all have our own bathrooms beside the twins, they share one, Horace.” He said, I looked around, “At the end, we have Victor's room, he is more of the troublemaker around here so he is normally sent to his room,” he said, I nodded not leaving eye contact with the door. “You coming or you just going stare at the door or what?” Enoch said, I then jogged back up to him.
”So, what’s the like… scheduled here?” I asked, “Well, it’s a bit complicated, we start off by waking up around 6-9 am and having breakfast at 10, we then have lunch at 12 as I guess you do, we then have supper at 5, latest at 5:30,” he said, he then lead me to the attic. “Now, we have your room, it used to be Abe’s room, I don’t quite expect you to stay too long, a decade or so… any longer… I might come around” Enoch said, “Well, can’t tell if you're just being rude or you want me to stay” I said. I sat on the bed as he huffed, “As if.. but, stay as long as you wish, if you're anything like me, I’m sure we will get along smoothly” he said.
I smiled, and he then nodded, “Supper is in an hour so don’t be late” he said, I nodded back to him, and he left the room. I then began to get dressed for supper, I wore a long-sleeved white shirt with a black vest on top and black trousers. I then began to go downstairs, The twins were running around and Claire was running after them, I smiled, Horace then popped out from behind me, “I see you have nice fashion taste” he said I chuckled, “I guess I do, I think I might enjoy it here” I said smiling, “I’m glad, we all will most likely enjoy your company” Horace said.
I smiled, and we then walked to the dining room, I stood by the doorway and let everyone sit down, “M/n why don’t you sit here?” Olive said, I then sat in between Olive and Enoch.
”Now, we have someone new so I’ll introduce you to him,” Miss Peregrine said, “This is M/n Portman, the eldest grandson of Abe,” She said, they just looked at me. We then began to eat! We had… I had no clue what we were eating, but it was nice! during the meal Miss Peregrine asked, "Claire why aren't you eating?" Hugh sighed softly as Claire was staring at her plate. "She doesn't want to freak out Y/n" Hugh said, my face softened at this. "Oh.. no please, please eat I don't get scared very easily," I said. the phone then rang, “Oh… well… Children! Please go into the parlour!” Miss Peregrine said, “But you always let us stay for it!” Claire said, Miss Peregrine gave Claire a look and she went silent and sighed softly, The twins grabbed their cups and began to eat their food through a straw.
We then sat in the parlour and watched Horace’s dreams after the phone call, “What are we doing exactly?” I asked whispering to Enoch, “Well basically we are watching Horace’s dreams, easy enough for an explanation” He quietly said, I hummed and nodded. It was nice, I then showed up smiling, it showed how I had gotten along with the children, then how Claire was on my back while the twins held onto my arms as I spun around in a circle, It then changed so me and Enoch were sat at his desk. He had little army men figurines and he was speaking to them, they stayed still. "Ughhhhh, just move you nancies!" Enoch exclaimed making me gasp before saying "Enoch!" before sending me onto the floor laughing out of shock which made him smile softly making the others gasp and smiling. It changed so I was then hugging Jake, and Enoch was there with his ordinary bland face watching us, I then scurried off with him, and there was a crash in his dream.
There was a shadow in front of me and Enoch, I was staring up at it my jaw dropped while Enoch stared at the shadow. "Wait can Y/n see the hollowgasts?..." Hugh murmured, there were multiple gasps, “Who’s that?” A few whispered when they saw Jake, then they got confused and all their faces dropped during the crash, so did mine and I paused seeing the Hollowgast, it was clear that I was shaken by this, “Can you see Hollowgasts??” Claire asked me quietly, “Don’t know… never seen one?” I said “Ok I think that’s enough now Horace” Miss Peregrine said quickly, Horace then took his eyepiece off, “I think we better start getting ready for bed,” Miss Peregrine said.
Everyone then stood up as I still sat down, "Oh Miss! Can we pleeeeaase show Y/n the restart?" Claire asked. Bronwyn and Olive gasped before saying "Oh Miss!" making Miss Peregrine sigh, “What... restart?” I asked, “Oh yes, you don’t know do you” Miss Peregrine said, “No.. no I do not…” I said, “Well, you know how we have loops, we have to reset it every 24 hours, so you have the day to yourself again!” Miss Peregrine said as she began to lead us outside. I stood next to Enoch who handed me a mask, “Thanks” I said and then put it on like the others, Miss Peregrine had begun to play some music, it was quite creepy too, We looked up to see planes coming past, I clenched my fist, I was obviously scared, Enoch chuckled.
