“I need some more magical squid ink, Mx (Last Name), promptly.” Snape ordered in his semi monotone voice.
You were Hogwarts Magical Ingredients Provisioner, which basically meant that you made sure the storerooms, specifically for potion classes, had enough magical ingredients, it also included going out and getting the Ingredients.
Being new to the job, you were still learning a lot, the previous Provisioner had quit for some unknown reason.
Dumbledore told you not to worry about it, and you kind of needed this job so you decided to just not question how odd the entire situation was.
Anyways, in regards to getting magical squid ink, the friendly giant squid in the Hogwarts lake usually filled some glass jars full of it whenever someone asked for some ink.
The previous Provisioner had left a note regarding how to get certain magical Ingredients, for magical squid ink they had written,
“A Guide To Getting Magical Squid Ink.
Before you go into the lake, make sure to leave a spare set of clothing on the edge of the shore, this is because you might get ink all over your clothing during the harvesting process.
The Giant Squid will drag you into the lake, don’t freak out. Squids are unable to see many colours, and are pretty curious creatures, hence the spontaneous grabbing.
IMPORTANT: Drink a water breathing potion prior to entering the lake, when you get to the edge of the lake, use Engorgio on the jars so that more squid ink can be placed into them.
While Muggle squids cannot eat toast, the giant squid absolutely loves it, make sure to bring a full loaf of toasted bread for the squid. It’s the most common thing used when trading for magical ink.

Huh, that’s pretty weird, the last bit was covered in black ink, as if someone had accidentally spilled some on it and didn’t have time to rewrite the list.
You shrugged, surely it wasn’t anything important if they didn’t fix the error? although, a part of you was a bit worried since it mentioned spring, and it was currently spring.
Letting out a loud exhale, you proceeded to grab 30 of the small jars used for the giant squid ink.
The jars themselves were currently tiny, allowing you to carry them around with ease, but you’d need to increase their size, as per the letter, once you get to the lake.
Expecting to get wet, you already had a spare set of clothing and brewed yourself a water breathing concoction, all you needed now was the loaf of toasted bread.
After a quick side quest to the Hogwarts kitchen, you had acquired the bread and were now on your way down to the lake with the freshly made toasted bread, it smelt absolutely lovely and wafted through the air, often catching the attention of passing students,
One of the students was so distracted by the smell that they had accidentally bumped into you, knocking you over.

The student who ran into you who had also fallen quickly got to their feet, “Sorry!” They apologised before helping you up, “It’s alright” you gently told them, not wanting to cause a fuss before both of you went seperate ways.
At long last you had reached the lake, the Giant Squid was in the shallows, lazily waving some of its arms around in the sunlight, hopefully it wouldn’t dry out.
Placing your spare clothing near the edge of the water you proceeded to get a tiny bit closer to the Squid, still on the shoreline.

While the Squid was happily eating, you decided that now was the time to drink the water breathing potion, it had an extremely long lifespan which was a precaution incase you got dragged under the water by another creature in the lake.
Chugging the sweet tasting potion, it sloshed around your mouth before finally being swallowed, the potion was cool against your throat and felt rather refreshing. And with that, you now had to enlarge the jars so that you could finally obtain the magical squid ink.
The Engorgio charm was simple enough, you pointed your wand at the jars which had been set on the ground before loudly saying “ENGORGIO” and with a flash of light, the jars grew smaller?
Wait, that wasn’t meant to happen! Frantically, you looked at your wand, apparently it had accidentally broke a bit after you had fallen over, which you didn’t notice till now due to it being on the opposite side of the wand which you were unable to see.
