A Review of the latest Grotethe Album!
1. Blrrble Grbble: A cheerful song that welcomes the audience to the show and showcases the Band's love of music.
2. Astralia Dreams ft. Jaques: A mournful song highlighting the ordeals of protecting a friend whilst the protagonist is trying to rebuild his own life.
3. Carol's Lament: The protagonist airs his feelings following the death of his wife and the discovery that she was not the woman he thought she was.
4. Rogue 6, Standing By: A song with an upbeat tune with plenty of references to pop culture and an underlying message about the fear of forever waiting in the wings alone.
5. Ulterior Motives ft the Infinights: A song about how people are not what they always appear to be, and referencing the trauma of both band's earlier careers, including Grotethe being arrested for murder and kidnapping of Elga by Hugh Männer (Later Hugo Von Brath), the Infinght's ex PR manager.
6. Twilight Eclipse: A quiet, nostalgic song about the beauty of the early evening and the wonders of the natural world.
7. Betrayal of a Betrayer ft. Dracula: An almost comedic song about a double-crossing maniac (Hugo Von Brath, anyone?)
8. Calliope: A sweet and sad song about the protagonist's journey to find his missing daughter, only to discover she was right beside him all along.
9. Epiphany: Taken literally, this song is about the Band's realisation that Matthide used to work for S.H.E.A.T.H. If you listen closer, however, the subtext is much more serious. Dare I say, Grave?
10. Prison Escape ft. The Alchemist: This daring song, although hopefully not a truthful one, details the protagonist's escape from jail after their wrongful imprisonment for a crime they didn't commit. I have a horrible feeling that it literally describes how the band escaped from jail following their arrest and the ensuing manhunt.
11. Memory Failure: This humorous song repeatedly uses the subject's failing memory to shift into the chorus. As Barney famously struggles with memory loss, it can be surmised that this song was written about him.
12. S.H.E.A.T.H: A rap by Barney Farney about his and his compatriot's experience with the titular organisation. Who knew there were so many words beginning with those five letters that fit into such a song?
13. A Baker's Life: This instrumental truly tugs at the heartstrings and makes you feel life's swooping highs and devastating lows. The somber notes of the ending, blending with the upbeat melody repeating one final time, really capture the bittersweet essence of life and death.
14. The Wolfman (Memorial song): This fan favourite recognises the achievements of Lucretia Wolfman's life, both personal and professional. It evokes memories of long-lost loved ones and the desire to remember them.
15. Never Grown Up: A song sung, rather unusually, by Elga. This song tells of the highs and lows of never being able to achieve adulthood and yet somehow still manages to break all the stereotypes surrounding Vampire culture.
Bonus Tracks
1. Startin' Over and Over and Over Again: A cover of the song by little-known artist Micah Risinger, telling a mythical tale of souls reborn at different times of history that somehow still find their way back to each other against all odds.
2. Covert Assassinations: This is another song that we hope is not based on reality (but fear is). It tells of the Protagonist's life as an Assassin and how one chance meeting can change the path of an entire life. Incorporating both Rap and sung melodies, this one is always a crowd-pleaser, although probably not for any law enforcement professionals.
3. Bat, Bat, BAT!: Just about the craziest song to ever exist. It is clear the writers, credited as Chip, Barney and Elga, were off their rockers when they wrote the song about Elga's favourite catchphrase and animal.
