Work Text:
Dean’s not too sure how it happened. One minute, they’re driving back to the bunker from a simple salt and burn. The next minute, Cas is asking him to stop and pull over.
There to the side of the road, was a field of giant sunflowers.
Cas had flown out of the car as soon as it had stopped. Sam was unfolding himself from the front seat as Dean turned off the impala and followed at a slower pace.
Sam had pulled out his phone and was texting pictures of the flowers to Eileen. Dean had no doubt that he was texting her something sappy.
Dean stared in wonder at Cas as he stared at the sunflowers in amazement. Reaching out to softly touch the petals with a small pleased smile on his face.
He turned when he heard the soft sound of the camera shutter being pointed in his direction. Dean saw the back of his brother as he lowered his phone, the evidence of a selfie capturing all three surrounded by yellow.
Dean rolled his eyes, his phone vibrating in his pocket as he turned back towards Cas. Panic gripped his chest lightly as the Angel wasn’t right there when he last saw him.
Stepping forward to where Cas last stood, Dean looked down the row to see which way he wandered off to.
Down a couple rows to the right was Cas, sitting at the base of some of the smaller stalks. A content smile graced his features as his face was turned up towards the sun. The flowers surrounding him seemed to turn towards Cas, seemingly just as in awe of Cas as he is of them.
And if Dean had pulled out his phone to take some pictures of Cas, then that was his own business.
And later, if Sam caught him scrolling through all the pictures he took with a soft smile on his face, trying to select the best one for a wallpaper for his phone…. Well. No one would believe Sam right?
