Work Text:

"I'm sorry Igor..."

The view past the window is what some would call a picture perfect scenery. The view of the planet below and the millions of stars surrounding them, some would even find peace while just staring at the view. But then why is it that Jing Yuan's chest feels like it's being compressed into the smallest shape, it feels tight and painful. His voice waivered as he hangs his head in shame from the disappointing news he has brought.

He feels a warm hand settle on his head, and it gently caresses through his hair. "Why are you apologizing eh? You didn't do anything wrong" a deep and warm voice answers, the soft and fond tone of it bring tears to Jing Yuan's eyes. He sniffs and tries to rub his tears off his face, but a cold metal hand halts his movements by gently holding his cheek. Their eyes met, the sorrow and heartache mirroring each other, one pair a golden yellow as bright as the sun, the other a soft amber. A tear escapes the eyes of the sun but was caught and wiped away by metal fingers.

Igor sadly smiles at Jing Yuan "It's alright little sun, there's nothing I can do about it anymore. I now realize that in every corner of the universe, we all have our own battles to fight. Jarilo-VI's tragedy is insignificant, and people have grown accustomed to the disappearance of insignificant stars in the sky." Igor admits that he was a little foolish, thinking that he could ask for help from others in the vast cosmos. But he does not regret it, because he knew that even though the results wasn't what he had hopped for, he knew that he at least did his best in trying.

And besides, how could he regret coming here when he got to meet his little sun?

Jing Yuan nuzzles the metal hand on his face and silently shakes his head "You're not insignificant." He pouts, to which Igor chuckles at his cuteness. "Where will you go now?" Jing Yuan asks. "I'm heading back. My home needs me... I've done all I can in pleading for help, but I have to return now." Igor answers, a few tears escaping his eyes.

Jing Yuan leans his head forward and rests his forehead on Igor's "Then I wish you victory, Igor" his voice soft as he places a pendant on Igor's hand. "This is a jade abacus, if you ever need any help, activate it and I'll arrive as fast as I can." Igor stares at Jing Yuan in bafflement and kisses him on his lips. This kiss was soft and slightly wet from their tears, a contrast to the hot and fiery kiss they shared the night before, they conveyed all what they couldn't say in this kiss. "I'm sorry." "Stay safe." "Take care." "Don't die."

“I love you, no matter how short our time was.”

As Jing Yuan watches the small ship leave, with his fleeting love on it, he places a kiss on the red cloth wrapped around his wrist.

Our meeting was a one in a million chance, you could have went to a different ship on the Xianzhou or you could have went to a different planet for help. But fate has brought us together; even if our time together was short, even if we are duty bound to our people, we were each other's for at least a moment.

Farewell, to you my fleeting love, may your victory be within your reach

...

"Let's send an invitation to that world called Jarilo-VI for the Wardance this year. Hopefully, his descendants will respond."

"General, the astral charts of the Sky-Faring Commission indicate that... this world has been destroyed."

"..."

"General?"

"Send an invitation... Even if it is just a wish that won't come true."
