In Love With a Criminal

Summary:

“God, why did you have to see that? Ten minutes longer, that’s all I needed and none of this would’ve had to happen.” the man groaned into his hands and Peter couldn’t help his confusion as the man paced back and forth, seemingly arguing with himself before he was suddenly dropping his hands from his face and turning to face Peter, lowering into a crouch in front of him.

“Okay, here’s how this is gonna go baby boy,” the man started, “You were not supposed to see that –”

“- No shit!!” Peter interrupted and the man huffed.

But, there's nothing we can do to change that now. Damage was done, you’re a witness now, a cute little one at that– that I can’t really let go because you’ve seen my face and I’m not about to chase your fine ass back to a police station.” the man told him.

-

After Peter witnesses a murder in the alleyway beside the coffee shop he works at one night, he gets dragged into Wade's criminal activities as a hostage that soon turns into more than attempting to escape at any given moment Peter gets, and some tricky feelings are developed on the way, creating more conflicts between the unlikely pair.

Notes:

I read a fanfic similar to this plot a couple of years ago and I just fell in love with the idea of criminal Wade and civilian Peter, it's such a perfect opportunity for a good dark romance enemies to lovers hehehe

I do want to warn beforehand!!! This story is very focused on the topic of sexual assault and abuse so do tread carefully if this is a sensitive topic to some!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Goodnight Peter! I’ll see you on Monday.” Holly called as she grabbed her purse from the back, slinging it over her shoulder and waving goodbye to Peter as she passed him on her way out.

“Night, I’ll see you later.” Peter returned politely, rubbing his eyes tiredly as he finished up refilling sweeteners, closing the box back up and sliding it under the register. The bell dinged as Holly slipped through it.

The shop was nearly empty except for a few tired college students like Peter, tucked away in the corners with their headphones in and laptops open in front of them, eyes scanning the screen as they sipped their coffee. They closed in less than an hour and Peter knew it would begin to clear out pretty quickly so he had already started his closing duties, restocking everything for tomorrow's opener.

As Peter moved around behind the counter, checking that everything was filled and stocked, he heard the bell ding again and didn’t bother glancing up, assuming it was just a customer leaving. But as he closed another box and turned around, he was met with a man standing patiently at the counter, brown eyes scanning the menu above his head.

Peter took in the black hoodie and hood covering up short cut dirty blonde hair, stubble covered the man's jaw and chin, he looked to be in his 30s ish. Something about the man didn’t look right in a shop like this one. He had an energy around him, one that dared people to try to mess with him. Peter wasn’t about to be one of those people.

“How can I help you?” Peter willed his voice to be steady as he stood behind the register, hands resting on the countertop. The man’s eyes flicked down to him and there was a brief second where his eyes wandered over Peter before snapping back up to his eyes.

“Hey cutie, I’ll just take a black coffee, somethin’ strong to keep me fueled for the night.” he ordered, a slight smirk pulling at his lips as Peter avoided his eyes to punch in the order.

“Night shift?” Peter couldn’t help his nosey curiosity, he honestly wondered what the man would be up to so late, nearing midnight. The man grinned, dark eyes gleaming in a way that had Peter’s stomach doing flips in all the best and worst ways.

“Something like that,” he said vaguely which was a tad unsettling but Peter simply shrugged and took the money from his hand, popping open the register to grab his change. As he went to hand it back to the man the man shook his head. Peter mumbled a quiet thank you and dropped the change into the tip jar before moving to begin making his coffee.

The whole time he worked he could feel the man's eyes on him, watching, observing. Peter felt bare and moved faster so he could get rid of the man's heavy gaze. Once he pushed the lid on he spun on his heel and made his way back to the counter, holding the coffee out to him.

Calloused fingers brushed his as he took the cup from him.

“Thanks, Pete.” he smiled and Peter almost forgot that he was wearing his name on a pin, throwing him for a loop when the man so casually dropped his name. He didn’t say anything as he watched him retreat to a window seat, adjusting his hood so it covered his face more, eyes checking the watch on his wrist.

Peter couldn’t help but feel like he was about to have a bunch of men pull up to rob the place. With the way the man was seemingly watching for someone, continuously checking his watch and sipping at his coffee.

He hadn’t even realized he’d zoned out watching the man, every worse possible scenario playing out in his head as he did until he blinked and glanced at the time on the register. It was five minutes past close and Peter hadn’t even finished his closing tasks yet. He should technically be asking the man to leave, but he really didn’t want to make the wrong move and irritate him so he finished up his closing tasks.

As he was finishing closing the register, his eyes caught something walking past the window and he quickly looked up to see that the hooded man had seen the same thing, quickly standing and leaving his coffee behind as he slipped out of the shop, bell dinging as the door banged shut.

Peter couldn’t help the breath of relief at the empty shop and he quickly made his way over to the door, turning the lock and pulling the blinds shut. He finished closing the register and tossed the half-empty coffee cup in the garbage.

He shut the lights off before grabbing his phone and backpack, slipping into the bathroom to change into a hoodie and jeans. After grabbing everything he needed, he slipped out the back door and turned to lock it behind him.

As he finished locking it up, he heard a distant thud sound down the alleyway he was standing in. He tensed and turned his head in the direction of the sound. There was a shout suddenly and the wet squelch of a blade piercing skin, gurgled shouts following.

Peter found himself standing like a deer in headlights, his eyes wide as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. The man from before was straddling another man on the ground in the middle of the alleyway, a bloodied switchblade clutched in his hand as he dragged it across the man's throat in one final swipe, effectively silencing the gurgling noise.

Peter’s chest was rising and falling at a rapid pace now, his heart thudding in his throat, ears ringing as the man leaned back on his heels and huffed a heavy breath, taking in his handy work below him when suddenly he heard the hitch in Peter’s breath, head turning in his direction.

Peter’s breaths stuttered to a stop then, the terrifying image the man painted before him, bloodied and straddling a now corpse, eyes on him– paralyzing him.

Before he even knew it, his body was acting on its own accord and turning on its heel, taking off down the alleyway. He didn’t know where he planned on going, but all he knew was that he had to be in a semi-crowded area, where there would be witnesses should the man try something.

He could hear shouts behind him before a muttered curse and footsteps pounding against the concrete behind him.

Peter’s heart was in his throat, legs burning as he pushed himself to keep running. He could hear the larger, much faster man gaining on him quickly. His lungs burned, he could taste blood until suddenly an arm was wrapping around his middle and taking him to the ground.

Peter yelped and twisted beneath the man, kicking out his legs and attempting to pry the arms off of him, mouth opening to scream bloody murder when suddenly a gloved hand was clasping over his mouth tightly, flooding his senses with the metallic tang of blood. Peter’s scream died behind the glove, muffled and useless.

He suddenly bit down and earned a grunted curse before his wrists were being wrestled above his head, pinned as the man shifted until he was straddling Peter’s hips, avoiding his kicking and flailing legs.

Peter suddenly felt all too much like the man he’d just watched get murdered in front of him, now all he waited for was the piercing feeling of a blade being driven in and out of his back, gutting him like the last guy.

But that didn’t come, instead, he was suddenly being picked up and thrown over a firm shoulder. Peter squirmed and pounded his fists on the man's back, wriggling to try to dislodge himself. But he held steady, not budging under Peter’s struggles as he walked further into the alleyway, stopping in front of a car parked to the side.

The man used his free hand to pop the trunk and Peter’s struggles returned ten times stronger as he fought tooth and nail to avoid being put in the damn trunk. He was suddenly unceremoniously dropped into the trunk and he was instantly swinging, only to have hands wrestling his own until the lid of the trunk was slamming, enclosing him in the tight dark space.

Peter resorted to the only thing he could think of. Screaming.

He shouted and banged on the trunk, kicking the sides and attempting to push it back open as he felt the engine start up. Music was suddenly blasting from the car, effectively muffling Peter’s cries for help and the boy knew that his chances of being heard now were slim to none.

Taking a breath, Peter tried to pull his shit together to come up with something. He tried not to think about the fact that he’d just witnessed a murder and been kidnapped all in the span of ten minutes.

He closed his eyes and felt around the small space, attempting to find the lever that would push down the center seat for him to crawl through. But as his hands continued to wander he couldn’t find the lever anywhere. It was when his fingers brushed over jagged metal that he realized the man must’ve removed the lever, prepared for something like this.

Peter bit back a whine and quickly calmed his increasing heart rate, he continued to feel around until he could feel where the tail lights were. He shifted his body so he was kind of curled up, his back against the back of the seats and his shoe pressed against the tail light.

He could feel the harsh jerks of the vehicle, the maniac in the driver's seat taking sharp turns and braking harshly. Peter began kicking at the light, attempting to pop it out so he could try signalling with his hand to people driving past or walking past.

But Peter toppled over when the car jerked to the side and suddenly slammed on the brakes. The music was turned off and Peter could both hear and feel the vibrations of the door slamming shut.

Peter tensed when the trunk was suddenly opened and Peter was staring up at the cold expression of the man he’d served coffee less than an hour ago, now stuffed in his trunk.

Hands were grabbing him and pulling him out, firmly pushing him onto the ground. Peter caught himself with his hands and took that time to look around, taking in the tall brooding trees surrounding him. He’d been brought to the middle of a forest. How the man managed to get to one so quickly without being pulled over at any point blew his mind.

Peter watched as the man paced in front of him, gloved hands buried in his hair and tugging frustratedly, muttering words under his breath.

“But, there's nothing we can do to change that now. Damage was done, you’re a witness now, a cute little one at that– that I can’t really let go because you’ve seen my face and I’m not about to chase your fine ass back to a police station.” the man told him.

“So you’re gonna kill me too?” Peter asked, way bolder than he felt. His voice wavered and his heart skipped a beat at the thought. But when he was met with a scoff mixed with a laugh he found himself tensing.

“Oh no no, sweetie. I don’t kill innocent bystanders, you’ve done nothing that warrants that, but that said I still can’t let you go. So you’re going to accompany me until I’m done all my jobs and I fuck outta here and we can pretend this never happened.”

“You just kidnapped me and shoved me in a trunk! No way in hell I’m staying with you!” Peter shrieked and watched as the man winced and tensed, body poised to slam a hand back over Peter’s mouth and shut him up.

“Hate to say it baby boy, but you don’t really have a say in the matter.” Was all he said before he was standing back to his full height again and taking a step toward Peter. Peter scrambled back before quickly turning onto his knees and pushing himself up to run again, only for an arm to catch his waist, pulling him back against a firm body.

“I’m not about to do this again, baby. Get in the car.” He instructed, his voice warning and rough. Peter knew that the arm wasn’t going to budge so he slumped in the man's hold, allowing him to drag him back to the car.

He was pushed to sit in the passenger seat before the man was pulling fucking handcuffs from his hoodie pocket. Peter gawked at the metal cuffs and pulled his wrists away only for the man to roll his eyes and reach out to grab them.

Cold metal was secured around his wrists and looped around the passenger handle above his head, leaving Peter’s arms dangling like that. Once he was secured, the door was slamming shut and the man was making his way around the car, opening the driver's side door and slipping in.

He started the car back up and music began playing, a lot quieter now that it wasn’t being used to drown out Peter’s calls for help.

Peter curled into himself and leaned against the door, glaring out of the window and watching as the trees thinned once they made their way back into the city. The man was quiet beside him, drumming his fingers on the wheel as he steered, eyes glancing over at Peter ever so often.

After about twenty minutes of silence, the man was sighing and turning down the music.

“You know, not too long ago I was doing anything to try to keep you quiet but now you’re too quiet, Pete.” he hummed. Peter bit back a scoff, eyes never leaving the buildings passing by.

“What do you want me to say? You kidnapped me. I’m not about to make small talk with my abductor.” Peter muttered.

“Aww don't think of it like that, Petey. Think of it as a free ticket to one helluva night. Bet you haven’t had any action in a while huh? Working at a little coffee shop’s gotta get a little boring.” He teased, nudging Peter with his elbow to which the boy shied away from the touch.

“If the options were boring coffee shop or getting kidnapped by a maniac murderer, I’d choose boring.” He grumbled.

“Well let’s start with this,” the man cleared his throat, “I’m Wade. Sorry we had to meet like this, I have a feeling we would’ve really hit it off any other day. I’m guessing gruesome cold-blooded murder probably turns off any chances of getting a shot at ya.” The man– Wade assumed and Peter couldn’t help the dry laugh that escaped him.

“What do you think?”

“Yeahhh, shame isn't it? You were practically eyeing me up like I was some beefcake in that coffee shop, I had a feeling it was mutual.” He smirked, his sharp canines peeking from his lips as he did and Peter’s head whipped around.

“I was not!” he defended and Wade snickered.

“Alright, baby boy. Whatever you say.”

“Stop calling me that.” Peter muttered, pulling at his wrists slightly as he shifted in his seat, leaning further in his seat. Wade huffed a laugh and reached back out to the radio, turning the music back up to fill the silence between them.

They continued driving for a while, Peter zoning in and out of the present moment, thinking about whether or not he’d even make it out of this alive. Wade said he didn’t kill innocents but he wasn’t sure if he’d stick to that for long if Peter continued to test his patience.

He thought about May, about his job– God, of course he’s kidnapped and stressing about his job. But he thought of May most of all, he knew she’d be checking up on him sooner or later, especially since he was supposed to be visiting her tomorrow. Now he wouldn’t be able to, but he also knew that if he didn’t respond she’d get worried.

The car slowing to a stop pulled Peter from his spiral of thoughts and he looked out the window, noticing the bank they were now parked outside of. Peter’s jaw dropped as he realized that the man was probably about to rob a damn bank and here Peter was, in his getaway car when he does. As if reading Peter’s thoughts, Wade snorted.

“Relax, I’m just getting some cash from my account, gonna have to stop somewhere at some point and I’m not trying to leave a path for the pigs.” he said, pushing open the door and slamming it shut behind him, the locks disappearing into the doors as he locked it. Peter felt useless as he watched Wade take money from an ATM.

It was midnight by now, the time on the dash reading 12:47 am. The streets were barren, no signs of life other than the distant sounds of horns further into the city where it never quieted. Wade was climbing back into the car a moment later, startling Peter from his thoughts.

“If you’re so worried about me being a witness, then why’d you give me your name.” Peter questioned and Wade stuffed his wallet into his jeans, shrugging.

“I’m a Mercenary, I’m good at what I do and what I do is not get caught. Police know who I am, doesn’t mean they can catch me, even if you told them my identity and what I did.” He explained casually. Peter’s eyes narrowed.

“Then why not let me go? If you’re so good why not let me run off?” he raised a brow and that smirk was back.

“I at least need a head start, baby boy. Hard to shake em’ when they’re hot on your heels. Which is why I’ll be finishing this up then letting your pretty ass go and getting my own ass out of here right after.” he told him, starting the car back up and peeling back out onto the road.

“They’ll catch you eventually, guys like you never win.” Peter mumbled, knowingly testing the man's patience but somehow not caring.

“Is that so?” was the only amused response he got back, only succeeding in irritating Peter more.

Silence fell over them once again as Wade drove, eyes focused on the road ahead of him and constantly scanning the area for cops whenever he turned onto a new street.

Peter could tell he’d been doing this for a long time, every move he made was calculated, watchful and careful. Peter wondered how many other people he’d murdered before tonight, it all seemed too natural to him.

Suddenly, they were pulling into a rundown neighbourhood, apartment buildings lining the streets and dogs barking from the apartments within, voices shouting and the faint sound of gunshots heard in the distance.

He watched as Wade slowed to a stop in front of an apartment, pulling to the side a bit so the vehicle would be hidden in the shadows away from the street lights.

The car jerked as Wade threw it into park and leaned into the back, collecting some things from the back seat.

Peter noticed the duct tape, bottle, and cloth that he’d grabbed and he found himself growing pale.

“What’s that for?” He questioned uneasily.

“Not you, baby. The shitbag that lives in this dumpster fire.” He said, nodding toward the apartment building. It felt too casual, and Peter thought he should be more freaked out, but there wasn’t much he could do cuffed to his seat.

“Be right back!” The man chirped as he pushed open the door and hopped out, locking it behind him once again as he made his way over to the fire escape.

Peter watched until he disappeared out of sight before looking around the car for anything that could get him out of his cuffs.

The car was pretty clean, no garbage to be seen except for some tools and gadgets in the center console, sitting in the cup holders.

As his eyes scanned the tools, he noticed the small silver key that matched his cuffs and his heart jumped.

Just as he was about to try to get ahold of it, the car was shaking as something slammed against it. Peter jumped and bit back a yelp as he noticed the unmoving body now sprawled across the hood of the car, Wade standing next to it huffing and wiping his forehead.

He watched as Wade gathered the man back up into his arms, moving around the car until he was popping open the trunk and jostling the car with how harshly he dropped the body inside.

Peter could feel that panic building in his throat once again, heart thrumming with unwanted adrenaline as he twisted in his seat to try to watch the man.

The trunk slammed shut and Wade was settling back into the driver seat.

“Is he dead?!” Peter gawked, eyes wide.

“Not yet, no. Just taking a cat nap on some chloroform.” He told him, starting the car back up and driving.

“I can’t believe you’re dragging me into all of this.” Peter huffed, arms aching from their strung-up position.

“It’s a nice change for me, kinda nice having company for once.”

“If that’s what you call having a hostage…”

“Yep!”

“You seem to know what you’re doing pretty damn well. Been at this for a while?” He questioned, his curiosity getting the better of him. Wade glanced at him sideways, a smile pulling at his lips.

“Mmm, yeah you could say that. Was in special forces for ten years too so that contributes.” He shrugged.

“Got a taste for blood after that?” Peter pushed.

“Not exactly.” Wade said, “Sure as hell desensitized the killing bit a whole lot though. It was easy falling into the Merc life after that.”

“Which you’ve been doing for…”

“About five years.”

“Hm.”

“Keeping little notes to relay to the coppers later?” Wade grinned, glancing over at the boy.

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Peter huffed, tugging at his wrists again before frowning as the metal rubbed the skin raw.

“My arms hurt.” He complained, jangling the cuffs again. “And I have to pee.” He added. Wade shifted in his seat, making himself comfortable.

“You really think I’m gonna fall for that?” He mused.

“Trust issues much? Peeing is a normal human necessity, doesn’t always mean anything else.” He rolled his eyes.

“Are you gaslighting me right now?” The man snorted and Peter growled frustratedly, squirming in his seat. It was true, he had to piss, but both he and Wade were aware that he’d contemplate running right after.

“You can piss when we get there.” Wade finally said.

“Where?”

His question was met with silence.

The place in question ended up being a cemetery on the outskirts of Manhattan. Tucked in the back of a shitty little neighbourhood.

Wade pulled pliers from his back seat and cut the chains holding the gates shut before pushing them apart enough to fit his car through.

He drove to the far back where there was more space for headstones, an empty patch of grass expanding further back.

He parked the car and turned it off, keeping the headlights pointed toward the patch of grass, leading to Peter to assume what he planned on doing with the man in the trunk. He couldn’t help but feel like he should be trying harder to contact police or something to stop him from hurting more people, but there was only so much he could do handcuffed.

The passenger door was opened and the key was being inserted into the cuffs, clicking them open and releasing his wrists.

Wade caught them before he could pull them away, thumb swiping over the raw ring of skin around his wrist.

“You need to stop pulling so hard, you’re hurting yourself.”

“And what do you think I’m gonna say to that?” Peter sassed, brow raised as he stood from his seat, all he got in turn was an eye roll and a “yeah yeah” before he was being guided towards the trees surrounding the cemetery.

Wade stopped a few feet into the trees and let go of Peter’s arm, watching him expectantly.

“You’re gonna watch?” Peter asked awkwardly, shifting in place. It wasn't like he was closeted, his co-workers knew he was trans and so did May and his friends of course, but he didn’t exactly want the man who kidnapped him to know that when he sees him squat to pee instead of stand.

Wade only raised a brow in response, one that said “really?”  Wade knew how this worked, he wasn’t going to risk taking his eyes off of him in the chance that he took off as soon as he did.

“I’m not going to run, I just… I need some privacy.” Peter couldn’t help but feel small as he said this, he felt too naked and awkward asking for privacy like a child.

But the pleading look on his face must’ve been the final nail because Wade huffed out a breath and moved so he was standing behind a tree, Peter only visible in his peripherals but other than that, mostly covered.

Peter let his shoulders drop a bit and he unbuttoned his jeans to pull them down enough over his hips.

Once he was done, he secured his jeans again before wandering back to Wade who didn’t make a comment about what he’d most likely seen.

Peter was placed back inside the car, this time without the cuffs. The car was locked and he watched as Wade began digging a hole into the ground with his endless collection of tools from the back seat.

As Wade dug, Peter was reminded of his phone in his hoodie pocket, silent, keeping itself secret from Wade luckily due to Peter never getting any notifications.

Wade had pulled the man from the trunk and dumped him in the hole by the time Peter remembered his phone. Wade was already filling the makeshift grave back up with dirt, sweat dripping from his forehead as he paused ever so often to wipe it with the back of his arm.

He slowly slipped his hands into his pocket and pulled the phone out, quickly turning the brightness all the way down so as to not give himself away should Wade look at him and see a bright light gleaming up at him.

Peter’s fingers fumbled as he typed in his passcode, adrenaline buzzing with the fear of getting caught and risking his life.

He quickly opened his phone and began dialling 911, pressing the bright green button and pausing as it began to ring.

He couldn’t put it on speaker so he moved in a way that it looked like he was resting his head on the car door, only issue was that he couldn’t see Wade anymore.

But this way he could put the phone to his ear and hear the 911 operator open with.

“911 what is your emergency?”

Peter’s breath hitched and he scrambled to speak.

“Hi, yes. My name's Peter Parker, I’ve been kidnapped by a man named Wade? He says you’d know who he is.” He explained quickly. The operator was quiet for a moment, before hesitantly saying.

“Wilson?”

“I-I don’t know, could be? He never said his last name. Says he’s a Mercenary.” He stuttered, eyes peeking up to see that Wade was still focused on burying the man.

“Alright honey, do you know where you are?” The operator asked calmly.

“I’m at a cemetery. He’s burying a man outside the car right now, it’s the second person he’s killed that I’ve seen.” He whispered, heart hammering away in his chest.

“What kind of car are you in?” The lady questioned, the sound of keys clicking away on the other side.

“I don’t… it was uh, black?” He wracked his memory, trying to recall the model. He suddenly heard the sound of the shovel hitting the ground, the noise causing his spine to stiffen as he peeked up.

Wade was making his way towards him, a murderous look on his face as he approached.

“Shit! He saw me!” Peter yelped.

He didn’t get a chance to hear what the operator was telling him before the door was being yanked open and Peter out with it. He hit the ground hard, the impact knocking the air from his lungs.

Wade was suddenly on him, and Peter was coughing out a cry as the phone was ripped from his hand, the call ending and cutting off all hopes of Peter being found.

Wade threw the phone aside and the next thing Peter knew was a hand wrapping around his throat, not choking quite yet but applying steady pressure, pressing him into the grass.

“I thought I could try and trust that you wouldn’t try any shit but of course you just had to prove me wrong.” Wade growled, pressing Peter further into the grass with his own body.

“I’m sorry!” Peter coughed, “I mean, you can’t really blame me right?!” He tried to reason but it only succeeded in pissing the man off more.

“I don’t want to hurt you, Peter. But you’re making it real hard not to.” He warned and Peter squirmed under him.

Wade decided to take pity on him then and his grip relented, removing itself from his throat. He looked down at Peter and the anger left his face as he huffed a defeated sound.

“You weren’t supposed to be involved in this baby boy…” he said.

“Then let me go.” Peter pleaded but by the look on Wade’s face, he knew that wasn’t gonna happen.

Peter didn’t fight as Wade pulled him back up and brought him back to the car, grabbing the cuffs and securing them around the handle of the door, leaving him so he could sit on the grass with his arms secured above him again.

Peter watched as he finished burying the man, patting the dirt down to flatten it, his phone now secured in Wade’s back pocket, turned off completely to avoid being tracked.

Wade dug through his back seat again before pulling out a small wooden sign and a black sharpie. He scribbled some words onto it before digging it into the ground at the head of the makeshift grave.

‘Here Lies Shitstain David Owens Should He Forever Rest In Hell

Peter stored the name away in the back of his mind, something to do some searching about if he survived this. The man must’ve done something pretty horrible for such a harsh headstone.

Once everything was packed away again, Peter was rearranged in the car, his arms above his head yet again.

Wade began driving again, but this time he didn’t try to strike up any conversation in the meantime. Neither did Peter.

“One more stop.” Wade mumbled into the silence almost thirty minutes later. Peter didn’t respond, simply rested his head against the window.

A few minutes later they were pulling up to another apartment. Instead of pulling into the shadows this time, he pulled into a parking spot instead.

Peter watched as Wade got out, locking the doors, and grabbing Peter’s phone from his back pocket, waltzing straight through the front doors and being buzzed in.

He assumed this one wasn’t another target of tonight’s murder list.

He sat there for a moment, before looking around the car again. He knew he was being stupid, always attempting another escape, but he really couldn’t do this much longer, the more he saw the more guilty he felt not doing anything about it.

He spotted the key to his cuffs in the center console again and that’s what his brain locked in on.

Leaning and contorting his body in a way so that he could lean down as much as possible, he managed after a moment of struggling to grab the key between his teeth.

He almost gasped in surprise at being able to get it so easily. It almost felt like a trap, with it being so easy but Peter didn’t care, he was going to take the chance.

He lifted himself so that he could grab the key from his mouth with his fingers, arranging it so he could insert it into the small keyhole.

After a bit of jimmying with his mouth, the cuffs unlocked, releasing his wrists.

Peter’s adrenaline was back and stronger than ever at him having a real chance to get away. He leaned over the center console and pressed the unlock button before quickly pushing open his door.

He took off as soon as his feet hit the ground. He took off into the nearest alleyway, cutting through it and across the street into the next.

He quickly skidded to a stop when he spotted four men lounging in the alleyway a bit further down, leaning against the brick walls smoking and chatting. Peter was about to turn and leave when he heard a whistle.

“Look what we’ve got here boys!” He heard the man whistle, his attention on Peter now.

Peter froze, he contemplated running but he worried that Wade would’ve noticed him missing by now and gone looking, he didn’t want to risk running back into him.

“What’re you doing out so late, kid? It can get dangerous on these streets.” The man said and his buddies laughed.

Peter turned to face them, deciding this was his best bet.

“I’m sorry, but do you have a phone I could borrow? I need to make a call.” He asked, watching as the men approached him. The leader of the group– Peter could tell– was a tall man, muscular, bald, tattooed every inch. He shrugged and pulled his phone from his pocket, holding it out to Peter.

Peter moved to grab the phone when the man suddenly pulled it back out of reach. Peter looked up at the man questioningly, faltering when he saw the grin spreading across his face.

“For a price, of course.” he said, and that was all Peter needed to realize he made a big mistake.

“I’m actually okay– I should be going…” Peter said as he moved to leave, only to be stopped by a hand grabbing his arm.

“Not so fast, baby. We’re just playing around a bit. You look like you need to let loose a little.” the man said, emphasizing his words by groping his crotch and Peter wanted to cringe in disgust at the action. He shook his head, pulling his arm.

“I’m good, thanks.” he said, a little less kindly.

“Well, you see. I don’t really take rejection all that well, you came to me asking for my help. Least you could do is repay me for it.” He said as he began to crowd Peter up against the wall, the other men surrounding him. Peter felt himself beginning to tense, eyes wild as he looked around.

Hands were suddenly on him, pulling his hoodie up and his jeans down. Panicked, Peter shoved at the man and attempted to slip past the other men blocking him in, only for arms to catch him and pull him back in, suddenly throwing him to the ground.

“Stop! Let me go!” Peter struggled as he was wrestled onto his back, hands pulling at his clothes and hands groping places he didn’t want touched. Peter felt hopeless, everything was out to get him tonight it seemed, all starting from one shitty night shift.

Just as his jeans were unzipped the weight on top of him was suddenly thrown off. Peter scrambled back against the wall as he watched the chaos unfold in front of him. Wade had shown up, his hood drawn over his head, gun clutched in one hand, switchblade in the other as he slashed and shot at the men.

He quickly offed two of the men with quick shots between the eyes, the silencer on his gun preventing anyone from being alerted to the bloodbath playing out. He dropped low and sliced the achilles tendon of one of the men before whacking him upside the head with his gun and dragging the blade across his throat, quickly advancing toward the leader, the only one left.

Peter flinched away as he watched Wade straddle the man and drive the blade into his crotch, wrenching a scream from the predator before the blade was being shoved down his throat.

Wade heaved as he sat atop the man, his shoulders slumping as he leaned back before pushing himself up and off of the man.

Peter was frozen from his spot against the wall, he realized distantly that he probably should’ve used that time to run while Wade was busy, but his mind was still reeling from what had very nearly played out, still recovering from the shock of it all, plus the gruesome scene he’d just watched unfold.

Suddenly Wade was crouched in front of him, hand reaching out and quickly doing up his jeans before grabbing him and scooping him into his arms. Peter didn’t fight it, still fighting to calm his frantic breaths and blink the dryness from his eyes, resulting in not blinking during the whole ordeal.

Peter blinked and he was back in the car, Wade was driving, hands gripping the steering wheel so tight that Peter noticed his knuckles turning white. His hood had fallen down and Peter could see the tensed muscle in his jaw, eyes never leaving the road once.

Some time later Wade had them checked into a motel, Peter followed Wade inside almost numbly but as soon as the door was shut behind them, Wade was losing his shit.

“What the absolute fuck were you thinking Peter?! Running off down the streets of New York like that? You know how bad that could’ve been!” He berated and it was enough to snap Peter from the trance he’d been in. His jaw dropped open as he huffed a bemused laugh.

“You think I don’t know that?! It’s not my fault that I thought running through the streets of New York would be safer than following a murderer on his little killing spree!” Peter shouted back, “But no apparently everything is out to get me tonight!”

“Killing spree? That’s what you think this is?” Wade laughed. Peter huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“What else would you call it? You’ve killed six fucking people tonight!” Peter argued. Wade stared at Peter for a long moment before suddenly moving, grabbing him by his arm and pulling him over to the only bed in the room, pushing him to sit on it before walking over to his duffle bag, roughly unzipping it before pulling out a file.

“When I said I was in Special Forces you assumed that I got a taste for blood, but that's not it at all. I was dishonourably discharged after refusing orders to kill an innocent mother and her child after she refused to sleep with my chief. I slipped rat poison in his food the day I was discharged, ran away and fell into the Merc life, I’ve been on the run since.” Wade explained, words sharp and pointed. “I didn’t get a taste for blood, I got a taste for justice. Because unfortunately there's a lot of shitstains on this earth that people are too pussy to take care of properly, so I’ll do it for them.” Suddenly he was stepping back and opening the file in his hand, pulling out paper after paper.

“Richard Adams, raped and impregnated his fourteen-year-old daughter before forcing her to abort it so he could continue his abuse.” he tossed the paper.

“Drew Smith, threw his girlfriend down the stairs, killing their unborn child in a drunken rage.” he tossed the paper.

“David Owens, fostered and sexually abused several children.” he tossed the paper.

“Michael Davis, an elementary school teacher that molested my daughter. ” he finished with, tossing the last paper. Peter’s heart sank into his stomach, his words dying in his throat as he watched the paper float to the ground.

“I know you might not agree with my ways, but these fuckers deserve everything they got coming for them.” Wade said. “I had a friend do some digging on you, and you can’t tell me you wouldn’t feel better knowing your abuser had no way of ever hurting you again. Prison only does so much when the system is fucked, and I think you know that, Pete.” he finished with. Peter didn’t move, didn’t speak. He wouldn’t even know what to say, and Wade knew that too because he only dropped the file and grabbed his duffle bag.

“I’m taking a shower, I’ll hear you if you try to leave.” he said, not even bothering to cuff Peter back up before disappearing into the bathroom, leaving the door wide open so he would be able to hear if he tried anything.

Peter didn’t bother thinking up another escape attempt. He finally moved from his spot on the bed to reach down and pick up the paper that read Michael Davis in bolded letters. He looked over the paper, taking in the dirty blonde hair and cold grey eyes of the man, before his eyes were wandering down and locking onto the picture of the young girl, Eleanor Wilson.

The girl looked a lot like Wade, but he could also see where she probably looked like her mother. She had Wade’s brown eyes and expression, she looked no older than ten years old, her brown curls falling over her dark skin.

Looking at this picture of the girl felt like he was looking into another part of who Wade Wilson was, something intimate, personal. And suddenly, just like that he didn’t feel the heavy guilt he’d been carrying since he witnessed that first murder.

He didn’t fully agree with the execution, but… he understood it.

Peter picked up the papers, tucking them back into the file as he listened to the water run in the bathroom. He found the remote to the small tv and turned it on, letting a random channel play on a lower volume.

The water stopped and Peter could hear Wade getting out, water dripping to a stop. Steam clouded from the bathroom and Wade was walking out, wearing only a pair of sweatpants and nothing else, showing the most skin Peter had seen yet.

He had tattoos, which shouldn’t have surprised him, but what did surprise him was the response his body gave as his eyes skimmed down, over the expanse of his abs, still wet from the shower.

“Back to square one huh, baby boy? Eyeing me like you’re starving.” Wade teased, as if none of the earlier conversation had happened. Peter’s cheeks reddened and he quickly averted his eyes back to the tv, bringing his knees to his chest and curling into them.

“God, you’re like a blushing virgin.” Wade snorted and by some unlucky chance, caught the wince Peter gave at that.

“Hang on…” Wade perked up suddenly, approaching the bed. Peter looked up at him and shrunk back a bit. “You’re telling me you haven’t…” he didn’t finish that thought, the reddening of Peter’s face was enough of an answer.

“Ever?!” He gasped and Peter melted in embarrassment.

“College gets busy!” Peter argued, cheeks flushed. Wade had a wicked grin on his face, something that couldn’t mean good.

“Baby boy, you drive me nuts.”

“Relax, it’s normal at my age. You’re just old.” Peter snarked and Wade’s grin widened.

“Hang on, how old are you? ” Wade questioned, now thinking of it.

“Twenty…” at that Wade whistled.

“God that makes me seem like a filthy perv.” He groaned.

“How old are you?” Peter followed with his own question.

“Thirty-five baby, looking twenty-five though!”

“Pffft, you wish.” Peter laughed and that earned an affronted gasp in return as Wade’s jaw dropped.

“You brat.”

Wade leaned over to check the time, reading that it was already nearing sunrise which was perfect. He only ever worked during the night anyways so they’d have to get as much daylight sleep as possible.

“Lights off, got a long night tomorrow. I’ll get us some food later.” He said, pushing himself back up to round the bed.

An hour earlier Peter would’ve fought against the idea of sharing a bed with the man but something had changed, something he wasn’t going to think about right now. What he desperately needed was sleep and rest to recover from the fever dream of a night he’s had.

He slipped underneath the blankets the same time Wade did, curled up on his side with his back to the man, sleeping chasing him down quickly.

So quick he barely noticed as the tv was turned off and the room was bathed in darkness.

Wade woke up peacefully for the first time in years. Usually he woke up quick, alert, either from a nightmare or just pure instinct.

But as he gained consciousness he was aware of a warmth against his chest and the blood rushing south.

As he blinked the sleep from his eyes, the first thing he saw were brown curls, mused from sleep. The next thing he noticed was that he had his arms wrapped around Peter’s middle, holding him to his chest with a hard-on pressed right against his ass.

He winced and resisted the urge to grind his hips forward, moving back instead until he slipped out of the bed.

He quickly jumped in the shower to spray himself with punishingly cold water before dressing in camo pants and another black hoodie.

When he glanced at Peter, he saw that the boy was passed out cold, body relaxed, face smoothed out, blissful.

It was already nearing dinner time by the time Wade woke up, he’d ordered some tacos and chimichangas to be delivered which should be arriving shortly and that’s when he’d wake up Peter.

But as Peter slept, he made a point to tip-toe around the room, trying to keep as quiet as possible. The poor kid looked tired enough the moment he saw him in the coffee shop, it didn’t help that he’d dragged him around the whole night and he’d witnessed multiple traumatizing things in the span of six hours.

He crashed, and Wade really didn’t expect him to wake up any time soon, which made him feel bad about waking him up when the food finally did arrive, but he also knew he needed food just as much as he needed sleep.

He reached out a hand and pressed it into Peter’s lower back, shaking gently. Peter’s eyes fluttered, opening blearily and meeting Wade’s face before he was moaning and shoving his face back into the pillow.

“Sorry, baby boy. But ya gotta eat, stay fueled up.” Wade told him, watching as Peter stretched his legs out beneath the blankets.

With a smirk, Wade set the bag right in front of Peter’s face, watching as he sniffed and suddenly he was wide awake, moving to sit up and grab the bag, Wade laughing.

He heard the crinkling of the bag as Peter began digging through it and he grabbed the remote, turning the tv on. It was a few hours before sundown, once the sun was down, they’d be able to go back out and Wade could finish his jobs.

He and Peter sat on the bed, stuffing their faces with tacos and chimichangas. For some reason, Wade took great pleasure in watching Peter eat so much, probably because he knew he needed it, and when Peter caught him staring he paused his chewing and narrowed his eyes down at the taco in his hand before glaring up at Wade.

“Did you poison me or something?” He questioned skeptically. Wade huffed a laugh and shook his head.

“No, I’m not ready to get rid of you that quickly.” Wade teased and Peter was oddly quiet at that but he continued eating nonetheless.

“I actually had a question…” Peter spoke up after they’d fallen silent again. He looked nervous, hands wringing together in his lap.

“What’s up?” Wade hummed.

“Well— I was just wondering. Y’know… you have my phone and uh, I have an aunt who's gonna start getting worried, especially since I was supposed to visit her earlier today…”

“Peter…” Wade’s tone was warning, shoulders drawn tight once again.

“I know, it’s just– if I could just call her so she could hear my voice she won’t worry. I’ll make up an excuse for missing our visit today, I just don’t want to worry her.” Peter tried, pleaded, eyes big and hopeful and damn if Wade didn’t feel himself getting sucked in.

“You called the police only hours ago, how am I gonna trust that you won’t try that shit again?” Wade pointed out, eyeing the boy. Peter’s face fell guiltily at that.

“You can watch me the whole time. I don’t know how to prove it yet but some things have changed for me.” Peter shrugged, playing with his fingers in his lap.

Wade stared at him for a long moment, eyes narrowed, contemplating— when suddenly he was grabbing the phone from his back pocket and turning it on, handing it to Peter who stared at Wade as if he was insane, actually trusting and giving him his phone.

He took his phone with a mumbled thanks and opened it, Wade’s eyes on him the whole time he opened his contacts and tapped on May’s.

He flashed Wade the screen to prove it was May he was calling before pressing the call button and bringing it to his ear, listening to it dial. Suddenly, Wade was grabbing the phone and pressing the speaker button before handing it back to Peter pointedly.

Wade settled himself right beside him, leaning back against the pillows nonchalantly but keeping his eyes on Peter.

Peter only waited five seconds before the other end was picking up, cutting off mid-ring.

“Peter?”

Hearing May’s voice almost broke down the emotional barriers he’d been keeping up in front of Wade. He had to take a breath to prevent his voice from wobbling.

“Hey May, first thing— I’m so sorry for missing our visit today,” he cleared his throat, shifting under Wade’s intense gaze. “I worked a late shift and conked the moment I got home, just woke up not too long ago, must’ve needed it.” He forced a laugh but it mostly sounded tired, both physically and emotionally.

“Oh, Pete. You should really pay more attention to your wellbeing. I already told you before that you’re gonna run yourself into the ground if you keep going like this.” May tsked but Peter could hear the worry in her voice. He flushed and glanced at Wade who hadn’t taken his eyes off of him.

“I know May, you were right. Listen, do we wanna reschedule for next week?” he diverted with a question. Hoping this would keep her worries at bay for a while at least.

“I was actually hoping I could catch you tomorrow around noon? I made food waiting for you but I stored them as leftovers, they’ll only be good for so long.” She suggested and Peter knew the guilt tactic when he saw it, May had her sly ways.

Peter paused, stumped for a good minute because honestly– he didn’t know when Wade planned on letting go of him. He didn’t know if he’d even make it to tomorrow. Wade could end up changing his mind about him, he’s shared a lot more information than he probably meant to.

Peter looked at Wade, eyes panicked. Wade’s eyes narrowed in thought for a moment before he was nodding. Peter hesitated before lifting the phone closer again.

“Y-Yeah, that should be okay. I’ll make sure to get lots of rest tonight so I don’t miss it again.” he said despite knowing that he’d be getting anything but rest tonight.

“Perfect, I’ll see you tomorrow Peter. Get some rest.” she said, a soft smile in her voice. Peter nodded, mostly to himself.

“Okay, goodnight May.” With that he hung up and turned off his phone, holding onto it for a moment longer before holding it back out to Wade who took it and repocketed it.

“Are you actually gonna let me see her?” Peter questioned hesitantly. Wade looked at him for a long moment.

“I’m not gonna kill you, Pete.” he said before pushing himself back up to his feet. “You should shower and get ready, we’ll be leaving in an hour.” Wade told him. Peter nodded and scrunched up the taco wrapper, tossing it back into the bag before pushing himself to his feet.

He disappeared into the bathroom and got to work stripping out of his clothes.

By the time he was done, he stepped out of the shower to see clothes folded on the sink for him.

Peter was sitting in the passenger seat without the handcuffs keeping him in place for the first time. Wade was tense next to him, still unsure whether or not Peter planned on making another run for it, or if he truly was done like he said he was.

Peter curled further into the big hoodie that Wade had given him. It smelled so strongly of the man that Peter almost felt suffocated, but not in the bad way that you’d expect.

When he’d stepped out of the bathroom wearing the clothes Wade had given him, he’d been met with a stare from Wade before the man was clearing his throat and adjusting his clothes, quickly moving to finish packing his duffle bag.

Peter thought nothing of it, but with the way Wade kept glancing at him, either out of nerves or just because- he was beginning to think the man had a thing for seeing Peter in his clothes.

The sun had set, the sky a darkening blue that casts the streets of New York and Wade’s criminal activities in a shadow. Peter sat through the whole hour car ride, wondering what Wade’s next “mission” was and who the next target would be. He wondered if it was only the names he listed off from the file or if there were even more, he hadn’t checked.

Wade was driving through another rundown neighbourhood, it was good to see that the scumbags who Wade killed lived in the shitholes they deserved.

The car crept along the curb, slowly pulling up to an apartment building. The street was dimly lit by street lights but the building gave off an eerie vibe.

Wade began to unbuckle, moving to get out. Peter, for some odd impulsive decision, began to unbuckle too. Wade had already gotten out of the car and when Peter did too he paused and stared at him.

“What’re you doing Pete? Get back in the car.” He told him, moving around the car and making his way to the building.

Peter quickly followed behind, hot on his heels and Wade glanced over his shoulder, rolling his eyes when he saw Peter.

“Seriously, you’re already too involved as it is. Get in the car.” He said, turning around to look down at the younger man.

“What if you need backup?” Peter excused pathetically, shrugging weakly. Wade almost didn’t even know how to respond to that before he was huffing.

“Baby boy I’ve been solo for five years, when have I ever needed backup?” He said.

“You never know!” Peter shot back.

“Peter for the last time—“

A whistle interrupted Wade’s threat and they both turned around to see the one responsible. A man strolled up, chubby, short, probably late thirties.

“Can I help you?” Peter asked uncomfortably. Wade was silent beside him.

“This cutie giving you a hard time?” The man jeered, a dirty grin on his face. Wade didn’t answer, and when Peter looked at him, his eyes had noticeably darkened.

“Excuse me?” Peter raised a brow.

“Sweet young thing like you on the streets at this time, you’re just begging to be picked up.” The man snorts, adjusting his pants. “No need to play hard to get, baby.”

Peter was at a loss for words, disgusted by the man’s implications. When he looked down at Wade’s hands, he saw they were bunched into fists, knuckles whitening.

“Tony Perez?” Wade suddenly asked. The man was a little caught off guard at Wade knowing his name before nodding.

“Uh yeah.” He said. Wade hummed.

“Good.” And that was the last thing he said before suddenly decking the man right in the nose. Peter jumped and fell back a step as Wade suddenly straddled the man, hands wrapped around his neck and squeezing enough for his veins to bulge.

The man choked and spluttered, reaching with his short arms to grasp something. Peter watched as the man fell still and Wade removed his hands, flexing his fingers.

He didn’t look at Peter as he stood up, grabbed the man by the ankles, and began dragging him back to the car.

Peter followed blindly. Wade warned him, but Peter insisted he’d come.

Once the body was thrown in the trunk, Peter stood outside the car with a sort of detached feeling. Wade was suddenly in front of him, holding the door open.

“Get in, Pete.” He said, and Peter did.

Wade was driving again, Peter didn’t know where, he never knew where. And he stopped questioning it. There was silence between them, thick, until Wade popped a question that gave Peter whiplash out of his trance.

“So if you’re a virgin does that mean you’ve never had a boyfriend or girlfriend?” Wade asked into the silence. Peter’s head snapped to look at him, eyes wide.

“Are we really gonna talk about this with a dead guy casually in the trunk?” Peter hissed.

“Not like he can hear us.” Wade shrugged. Peters' jaw dropped before he let out a breath and leaned back in his seat.

“I had a girlfriend once, Mj, well— Michelle. In highschool.” Peter said, “but we never, uh.” He trailed off.

“Bumped uglies? Boned? Did the dirty? Had sex? Come on, Petey, you’re killing me with this whole innocent schtick.” He moaned, throwing his head back like it pained him. Peter squirmed in his seat, glaring at the other man.

“Yes! Okay? We never had sex. Happy?” He exclaimed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Oh, you have no idea, baby.” Wade said lowly, a laugh on his lips.

“What does that mean?” Peter narrowed his eyes.

“Oh baby boy, to know that I’m the first man to make you squirm and blush in your seat like that is enough to get a guy going.” Wade went on and Peter’s face deepened a shade of red despite himself.

“Makes a guy wonder what your “O” face looks like.” Wade chuckled and Peter raised a brow.

“My what face?”

“Don’t worry about it baby boy,” Wade smirked before he was suddenly pulling the car over on a little bridge surrounded by trees. A quiet road where barely any cars came down.

Peter watched strictly from his seat this time as Wade got out of the car and rounded it to the trunk, popping it open and rifling around for a bit before finally, minutes later he was carrying a now tied up and weighed by bricks body of the man.

The bricks sat on the man’s chest as Wade bridal carried him, Peter could see the muscles of his arms bulging slightly through the hoodie and quickly crossed his legs and averted his eyes.

He could hear the sound of the body splashing into the water below the bridge and soon after Wade was getting back into the car.

“Now what?” Peter asked, Wade seemed to think for a moment before exhaling.

“Now we need a drink.” He said. “Next guy should be at a bar we’re gonna go to. Usually goes every Saturday night.” Wade explained. Peter honestly wouldn’t mind a drink, something to calm his nerves, make tonight easier.

When they got to the bar, Peter failed to think about the fact that he’d need his ID to get in, not to mention he wasn’t even twenty-one yet so he wouldn’t be allowed in.

But as Peter fumbled for an excuse, Wade reached out and slipped the bouncer some folded cash. That was enough for the man to nod his head and step aside for them to walk in.

Strobe lights were flashing around the bar, music thumping through the floor rhythmically, voices talking amongst each other.

Wade led Peter toward the bar with a hand on his waist, the touch enough to send shivers down his spine.

After a minute of standing, a bartender slid over and Wade rattled off their drinks before slipping her a twenty, denying the change she tried to return. Soon enough, two shots were being placed in front of them and Wade was grabbing them, handing one to Peter.

Now Peter had never been to a bar or a club, only house parties. He’s never taken a shot but he’s seen people do it, he's only ever had the special punch house parties always have.

But Wade didn’t even give him time to prepare before he was tapping his glass on the bar and throwing the liquor back. Peter followed shortly but was quickly followed by a cringe and a disgusted cough.

Wade cackled at that, seemingly aware that had been Peter’s first shot, given by the rookie reaction.

A few minutes later, Peter had a half finished drink in his hand, and another empty shot glass in front of him. He by no means thought he was a lightweight at any point. He could drink a few cups of the punch and cruise through the night with a steady buzz.

The only mistake he made was remembering that straight liquor was ten times stronger than any homemade punch. That much was obvious by the pleasant way Peter’s body was thrumming and his mind was drifting.

Wade was a solid warm presence beside him, his arm touching Peter’s, anybody who had tried talking to Peter was quickly waved off by Wade. Peter had his head resting on his hand, elbow propped up on the bar.

Wade could see the way his cheeks were flushed from the alcohol, his eyes glazed, a small smile permanent on his lips as he just felt the buzz of the poison they willingly drink.

Wade hoped Peter wouldn’t discover he was an emotional drunk tonight, Wade wasn’t sure if he’d be able to handle that.

His eyes scanned the room, constantly in search of his target all while keeping his attention on Peter. Wade almost couldn’t handle the dazed blissed-out look on Peter’s face, it was doing things to his imagination that wouldn’t be socially acceptable.

“This is like… sooo wrong.” Peter giggled and Wade’s lips quirked up at that, turning his eyes back onto the boy.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, why?” Peter deadpanned before cracking up at his own stupid joke. “No it’s just— I’m not allowed to be in here. It's, like, so illegal.” Peter was positively slurring his words, no way in hell he’d be passing any sobriety tests.

Wade smirked, “Out of everything illegal that’s happened in the past day, I think this should be the least of your worries baby.” He laughed, tipping his head to look down at Peter, only to be met with big glazed doe eyes looking back.

Peter’s eyes were wandering then, over his face, then down to his shoulders and chest.

“You’re kinda super big.” Peter mumbled distractedly. That took Wade by surprised and he huffed out a laugh.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah…” Peter hummed, “S’nice.”

“Glad you think so, baby. I think you should drink some water.” His tone was thick with amusement as he signalled for water to the bartender. Peter was already complaining before the water was even placed in front of him.

“I don’t need water. I feel great, all fuzzy and warm.” He slurred before tipping his head to the side, “Kinda like I wanna have sex? I don’t know.” He said right as Wade was taking a sip of his beer, causing him to choke it down, heat and blood rushing south.

“Alright Petey, you’re cut off.” He laughed, throat dry. Peter’s whine didn’t help.

As Wade was doing another sweep of the room, only taking his eyes off of Peter once he’d watched him take a sip of the water, he caught a glimpse of someone who looked suspiciously like his target.

The man was making his way out back for a smoke break, asking his buddy for a lighter. Wade straightened up and hesitated for a moment. He couldn’t leave Peter here, he knew there were a bunch of lustful pigs who’d go after him as soon as Wade was gone. But he couldn’t exactly bring him.

“Peter sweetie, can you do me a favour and wait outside for me? Don’t leave the front door, just wait until I get there.” He said, leaning close so he could be heard over the music. By some miracle Peter understood and nodded, slipping off of the bar stool and tipping before catching himself, much to Wade’s amusement and concern.

Wade watched him disappear outside before he was quickly turning on his heel and chasing his target out back.

Peter stumbled through the door and the breeze that washed over him as soon as he stepped outside was welcoming for the first five minutes he stood out there before it began to get too cold.

Peter stood next to the door, posted like Wade wanted him to be. A few people were scattered about, smoking and talking to each other.

But it was when Peter made eye contact with two police officers approaching him that his heart plummeted into his stomach and twisted anxiously.

Peter shuffled in place, attempting to look anywhere else but at the cops quickly approaching him. He couldn’t avoid it once they were standing right in front of him, postures relaxed, hands holding their vests.

“Hey kid, how’s your night going?” The male officer questioned. Peter winced and braced himself for a tense conversation.

“Oh hi, it’s good. You?” He returned politely, only slightly stammering over his words, it didn’t help that he was pretty fucked.

“Good, good. Listen we were just looking for someone, could we get your name real quick, or some ID?” The officer asked, cutting straight to the chase. Peter paled.

“I uh, don’t have my ID on me. But my name is Ben.” He lied fairly naturally, Ben’s name slipping off his tongue easily.

“Ben, huh?” The officer hummed, glancing at his partner.

“It’s just funny, we’re looking for a kid named Peter Parker, looks a lot like you and we heard he could be in some trouble. You have any idea about that?” The cop pushed and Peter felt himself sobering up by the second.

“No sorry.”

“If you don’t have your ID then how’d you get in the bar? You look awfully young.”

“I haven’t been in the bar. I’m waiting to meet up with my-my boyfriend.” Peter quickly lied, almost tripping up on his words.

“Come on, you think we really believe that?” The cop raised a brow, looking Peter over. Peter’s eyes trailed away from the officers when he got the sense he was being watched.

As he looked over the cop's shoulder, he could see Wade standing back, sticking to the shadows with a look of panic in his eyes as he met Peter’s, a brief flicker of anger even, betrayal.

“Listen kid,” suddenly the female officer was speaking, turning Peter’s attention back to her. “We’re here to help, you can tell us.” She said kindly, a gentle smile gracing her features.

“I’m sorry but I don’t know what you’re talking about. My name is Ben, I’m waiting for my boyfriend to walk me home.” Peter repeated. The male officer stepped forward.

“Right, and what’s your boyfriend's name?” He asked. Peter was stumped, his brain stuttered and suddenly the hesitation was too long.

Peter did the first thing he could think of. He turned heel and ran.

He could hear the officers shout after him as he pushed himself through the crowds walking the streets, moving between bars and clubs. He knew the cops were chasing after him, but he didn’t trust himself to look back and check. Drunken crowds hooted and cheered him on as he shoved past them, he was lucky enough that no one was trying to be heroes by tripping him.

He didn’t know how he managed to keep the pace he had without eating concrete and spitting teeth, but he wasn’t going to complain.

He pushed himself until both his legs and lungs were burning. He was pretty sure he managed to lose the officers so he began to inadvertently retrace his steps, going around in a path that wouldn’t risk him running right back into the police.

Peter was pretty sure he was getting close to where Wade parked his car as he ran through an alleyway.

Suddenly, as he turned a corner, he was clashing hard into a solid chest, arms immediately coming up to grab him which did for a brief moment scare him, making him think that an officer had gotten ahold of him.

“Peter.” At the sound of Wade’s voice, the worries washed away and he sank into his arms.

“I didn’t tell, I swear. They came to me.” He repeated over and over like a mantra and Wade only held him tighter.

“Okay… okay. Come on, baby boy.” Wade urged gently as he guided him back to the car. The moment Peter fell into the passenger seat, he was fighting sleep attempting to drag him down. Wade buckled him in, leaned his seat back, and proceeded to grab a blanket from his back seat to throw over him.

Peter could remember letting his eyes fall shut as he felt the rumble of the engine starting back up, peeling away from the bar and taking off, undetected by police officers.

When Peter woke up, it was to a headache splitting him apart and making him nauseous. Peter could feel himself moving, a rumbling below him, and he moaned as he stretched and pushed his face into the leather seat he was laying on.

“Welcome back sleepy,” he heard Wade greet beside him and squinted open an eye. The sun had come up, sitting low, just the very start of the day.

“What the…” Peter groaned, disoriented.

“Yeah I’d be surprised if you remember anything that happened last night, but one thing is for sure— you sure do become a little horn dog when you drink.” Wade teased, glancing over at the boy who’s memories of that particular part came rushing back in, causing him to whine and cover his face in embarrassment.

“No need to be embarrassed, I’m flattered really. Hearing you gush about how big I am.” There was a shit-eating grin on Wade’s face as he said that, making it very obvious that seeing Peter squirm in embarrassment was funny.

“Okay, stop—“ Peter huffed in embarrassment, covering his face and rubbing his eyes before glancing up and out the window.

“Where are we going now?” He questioned, glancing at the clock and reading 7:30 am. Wade shrugged, still vague as ever.

“Gotta pick someone up.” He said. Peter sat in silence as he watched the signs passing by, the sun bothering his overly sensitive eyes and his head aching still.

Wade was suddenly leaning into Peter’s space, reaching out and popping open the glovebox, grabbing a bottled water from inside and placing it in Peter’s lap.

“Drink up, it’ll help with the headache.” He instructed and Peter nodded, cracking open the lid and taking small sips, worried that if he drank too much it would all come back up.

As he continued to nurse and sip from his water, Wade was suddenly pulling up to a cute little house, with a white picket fence surrounding the front lawn and a cute light blue door.

Wade parked the car and seemed like he was waiting for something. Just as Peter opened his mouth to ask, the blue door was opening and a little girl with dark brown curls came running out. It only took Peter a second to realize it was the little girl from the file, Wade’s little girl.

Wade smiled and he moved to get out of the car, moving around it and opening his arms for the little girl to come running into. There was a big grin split across her face, missing teeth on display, as she ran smack dab into Wade.

Peter watched the cute exchange before the girl was bouncing over to the backseat door. Peter panicked for a moment and glanced over his shoulder, only to see that Wade must’ve moved the weapons and other incriminating shit into his trunk.

He watched as Wade waved goodbye to a woman and a man standing at the door, a gentle smile on their faces. Peter stored that piece of information to ask about later.

The door was opening and the little girl was jumping into the backseat, placing her backpack next to her before suddenly a head was popping into the front seat, looking at Peter with bright eyes.

“Are you daddy’s boyfriend?” She questioned so innocently that it gave Peter whiplash. “I’m Ellie!” She cut him off before he could splutter out a response with a hand outstretched.

Wade got back into the car just as Peter was shaking Ellie’s hand.

“Hi Ellie, I’m Peter.” He smiled gently in return. The little girl beamed and she settled back into her seat just as Wade started the car back up.

“So how’d ya meet?” Ellie questioned nosely, eyes wide and eager. Peter’s mouth fell open, before closing and opening again, searching for words.

“At a coffee shop, baby girl. He was just soooo cute I couldn’t resist,” Wade suddenly answered, shooting Peter a wink that made his face heat up before smiling back at Ellie.

“He is cute! But what did you say to him?” Ellie gushed.

“I didn’t even need to say anything to him, he was all over me the second I walked in.” Wade grinned devilishly and Peter glared.

“Not true at all, I made him work for it, Ellie. He literally had to chase me down.” He returned the smug grin, considering the fact Wade had to quite literally chase and tackle him down to keep him from getting away.

“As far as I remember, you were the one who was drooling all over me.” Wade narrowed his eyes challengingly. Peter hummed as if he were thinking, Ellie giggling as she watched their antics.

“Oh? Is that what made you spill your coffee all over yourself?” Peter smirked, everything they said was a lie just to rile the other up. Wade glared at him, an amused grin pulling at his lips.

“Did not!” He gasped and Peter snorted, leaning back and looking at Ellie.

“He did” Peter mouthed, dramatically gesturing at Wade. Ellie giggled.

“You’re funny Pete!” She smiled before holding up a hand. “You get the Ellie approval.” She said, keeping her hand up for Peter to high-five.

“It’s this thing she does, interviews any new friends of mine before deciding whether or not they get her high five of approval. You’re lucky, it’s bad news if you don’t get a high five from this little gremlin.” He explained and Ellie stuck her tongue out at him.

Suddenly, they were pulling up to a school where a bunch of kids ran about. Wade pulled up next to the drop-off zone and parked the car, unlocking the doors.

“Bye daddy! Bye Peter! I’ll see ya later!” She waved before throwing the door shut and running off to join the other kids.

Wade watched her go and Peter could see the blatant admiration and care he had for her, just another thing that made him so ordinarily human.

“Well she’s a sweetheart.” Peter said into the silence as they began driving away, Wade had a little proud smile on his lips before he turned and looked at Peter.

“Chasing you? Spilling my coffee? Really?” He laughed ridiculously. Peter shrugged.

“I was fighting fire with fire, not to mention you did technically chase me.” Peter shot back cheekily and Wade gave him a look before rolling his eyes and reaching into his pocket.

Peter watched as Wade pulled his phone free from his back pocket and held it out to Peter. Peter stared at the phone, unsure, hesitant.

“Pete, you outran the cops so that you wouldn’t get me caught. You deserve your phone back.” Wade said once he noticed the hesitation. Peter took the phone from him and turned it on, reading 9 am on the time.

“You trust me now?” He said with a light laugh. Wade shrugged.

“I’ll try.” He met Peter’s eyes with his own and Peter nodded.

“Thank you,” he mumbled and Wade didn’t say anything in turn. As Peter scrolled through his notifications he read multiple missed messages from Aunt May from yesterday, a few texts from his friends, and a missed call from his work.

Cursing internally, Peter swiped the missed call notification out of sight, that was a problem he could deal with later.

Suddenly his phone was pinging with a message from May.

I know it’s early but if you’re up you can come over anytime, hun!

Peter stared at the message, his fingers hovering over the keyboard as he contemplated responding, he doubted Wade was done with him yet, which meant he couldn’t go over any time soon.

“What’s up?” Wade noticed the way he seemed to zone out, staring at the phone screen.

“May’s trying to get me to come over now,” he told him. Wade seemed to think for a moment before shrugging.

“Why not? What’s the address?” He questioned and Peter’s head snapped back toward him, eyes wide before his brows furrowed.

“You’re gonna introduce yourself to my aunt?” He asked incredulously, “What’re we gonna tell her?”

“That we’re dating, I met you a couple of weeks ago and we decided to take a shot at it.” Wade shrugged, thinking of easily. Peter narrowed his eyes.

“She’ll wonder why I didn’t mention you sooner.”

“Say you wanted to wait until you knew it was serious.”

“She’ll be crushed for me when you and I ‘break up’ eventually.” Peter said, brow raised and Wade met him with a smirk.

“Who said we ever had to break up?”

“Oh, so now you wanna keep me? Thought this whole kidnapping thing was until you were done with your jobs?” He countered, lips curled in amusement.

“I dunno, I’m starting to like seeing your ass in that seat.” Wade grinned, his sharp canines making a reappearance as he did and Peter felt his stomach do a flip.

“Hm, don’t get too used to it.” Peter hummed and they fell back into a comfortable silence after giving him the address to his aunt's apartment.

Less than a day ago Peter wouldn’t have ever even considered allowing Wade so close to someone he cared about, he’d worry that Wade would kill May, or drag her along with him too, or use her as hostage material, now those thoughts didn’t even cross his mind as he watched Wade navigate the streets.

He doesn’t know where this newfound trust in the man had come from, but Peter no longer felt tense next to him, or like the voices in his head were going wild with their panic.

He honestly thinks that Ellie was what changed that bit for him.

Peter blinked and they were pulling up to May’s apartment almost an hour later. Once Wade had parked the car next to the curb, Peter felt an odd sort of wave of comfort as he looked up at the familiar building, where he’d spent most of his childhood.

He had seen May last week, but after the last couple of days, it was nice to see something familiar again. He thinks he’s seen more of New York in the past two days than in his entire life.

Peter eventually got out of the car and began walking towards the front doors. Suddenly Wade was falling into step next to him and scooping up his smaller hand in his own.

Peter looked up at Wade as the man interlaced their fingers and gave a gentle squeeze, calloused hands scraping over his softer ones.

Wade was really falling into the roll of the perfect boyfriend already, he only hoped he would keep his crude comments about Peter to himself and not say them to his poor aunt.

Peter buzzed up to May’s apartment and a second later the door was opening.

Peter guided Wade up the stairs until they were stopping in front of a lightly decorated door, a small effort May made to keep her home welcoming.

He didn’t bother knocking, knowing that it would be unlocked like always, despite him trying to convince May to keep it locked even if she was expecting someone.

He walked in and was instantly hit with the smell of pizza. He continued forward, pulling Wade with him until they were standing in the living room.

“May?” Peter called out. There was a scuffling sound in another room before May was calling back.

“Be right there!” And suddenly she was wandering into the room, a smile on her face as soon as she saw Peter that fell slightly at the sight of Wade next to him.

“Hope you don’t mind that I brought someone,” Peter shrugged, ears growing hot as he felt all too much like he was bringing home his first boyfriend, which he sorta was? He’d never introduced May to anyone other than MJ.

“Nice to meet you, Mrs Parker. I’m Wade, Pete’s boyfriend.” Wade stepped in, squeezing Peter’s hand before letting go to hold it out to May. May looked Wade over before a small smile was pulling at her lips.

“Well well. So this is what’s had you so distracted huh? I can see why.” May winked at Peter as she clasped Wade’s hand in hers. Peter whined and covered his face.

“May— please!” He groaned into his hands. Wade’s chuckle didn’t help.

“I’m flattered, but honestly I’m just happy to meet the fine woman who raised him. He’s somethin’.” Wade smirked down at Peter who pressed his face into Wade’s arm, hiding the burning red that spread across his cheeks.

“Alright alright, let’s give him a break before he implodes.” May laughed lightly, reaching out and giving Peter’s arm a squeeze.

“Come in! I got some pizza waiting in the kitchen!” She smiled, leading them over to the kitchen. Peter narrowed his eyes at the empty sink he expected to be full of dirtied dishes.

“You never made dinner last night waiting for me, did you? That was just to get me to feel bad?” Peter raised a skeptical brow and May’s poker face was horrible.

“An aunt's gotta do what she’s gotta do to see her Nephew nowadays.” She shrugged slyly and Peter huffed a laugh.

Peter and Wade parted as they moved to the boxes to grab slices. As Peter was grabbing his own slice of pepperoni, May wriggled in beside him and nudged with her elbow.

“So… how old is he exactly?” She questioned lowly, glancing at Wade over Peter’s shoulder as the other man focused on getting his slice of pineapple, something May also likes but Peter absolutely does not.

“Uh… twenty-eight.” Peter shrugged dismissively even though he was freaking out deep down about May freaking out, especially since that wasn’t Wade’s real age.

May was silent for a moment, looking over Peter’s shoulder thoughtfully, eyes squinted before looking back at Peter.

“He got a job?”

“Uh, yes?”

“Does he make you happy.”

“I.. yeah..”

“Does he want kids.” May suddenly asked and Peter’s eye bulged, choking on his own spit.

“I never asked him that, May!” He hissed and of course Wade overheard, wandering over with his pizza on a paper towel.

“Asked who what?” He butted in and Peter glared at May, only receiving a cheeky grin in response before walking away, retreating to the living room. Peter glared after her before grabbing Wade’s arm and guiding him out.

“Nothing— by the way you’re twenty-eight.” Peter murmured, leaning close so Wade could hear. He could see the nod of acknowledgment in his peripherals as they walked into the living space.

As they ate, May made sure to ask Wade every question in the book, almost as if she were investigating him. Peter didn’t know whether to be impressed or put off by the way Wade lied so easily, even coming up with a story for how they met, a lot less messy than the last one they gave to Ellie.

Peter could tell that May liked him and an uncomfortable heavy feeling sat in his gut knowing that he’d have to tell her eventually that it “didn’t work out” once he and Wade part ways.

But as Peter looked at Wade, sitting comfortably next to him, his arm around Peter's shoulders, fingers lightly gliding across his shoulder repetitively, causing goosebumps to rise across his skin, he hated how much he wished he could get used to it.

“Why don’t you show Wade your childhood room?” May teased and Peter gave her a look.

“Why would he want to see that,” he said, knowing full well why May was trying to get him to show him, the room looked the same as when Peter left, like a teenage boy's room. With legos and comics, pictures of him and his friends on the walls, and Star Wars bed sheets. It was embarrassing.

“Come on, Pete. You can’t hide your nerd forever and I know for a fact that you’ve been trying to.” May grinned and Peter groaned, Wade was smiling next to him, interest piqued.

“Oh? Nerd?”

“Seriously May, he doesn’t need to see my–”

“Should I pull out the baby album?” she cut him off and Peter’s mouth clicked shut, eyes narrowing before he was sighing and standing up. He reached down and grabbed Wade’s hand, pulling him up from the couch as the man chuckled and set down his pizza.

Peter stomped down the hallway, pulling Wade behind him and practically feeling the shit-eating grin the other man wore. He pulled him over to the only door in the apartment decorated by posters and pushed the creaky door open, revealing the clustered small room, action figures scattered across every surface, less than he had before since he took some with him but still a lot, comics in their protective bags covering the whole back wall.

Wade’s eyes lit up like a kid in a candy shop as he chuckled, “Holy shit you were a nerd.” He snickered and Peter slumped on his bed, his arms crossed as he watched Wade look around the room.

He watched as Wade picked up things here and there, turning them over in his hand to look at them.

“If you don’t mind me asking, why doesn’t Ellie live with you?” Peter questioned, unsure if Wade was comfortable with sharing that bit of information but as he watched the man shrug casually, he figured it was okay to ask.

“A girl I hooked up with in my mid-twenties had Ellie as a result of our hookup, she didn’t try reaching out to me until I heard that she’d died in a car accident when Ellie was only two years old. I couldn’t raise a kid with my job so I made sure she was sent to live with good people who would raise her. I’m glad she has them, they let me see her whenever I’m in town. It works out.” Wade smiled and picked up another action figure.

“That’s nice. I assume she’s pretty understanding of it too.” Peter smiled.

“Yeah that kid's got a good heart, even after what that shitfuck did to her, she never lost her spark. It dimmed sometimes but never fully went out, she didn’t let him destroy her.” Wade said and Peter found himself smiling at the pure pride Wade said it with.

Peter watched as Wade reached out and grabbed a journal sitting on the small desk he had in the corner of his room. He suddenly jumped up and dove for the journal, snagging it from Wade’s hands, suddenly Wade was chasing after it and wrestling Peter onto the bed.

“No! You don’t get to see that part of me!” Peter protested, keeping the journal safely clutched in his arms, curled under Wade as he attempted to pry it from his hands.

“Now you got me curious!” Wade grinned and poked Peter’s side.

“Stay curious!” Peter bit back.

Not long later after Peter had managed to get Wade to forget about the journal, they went back out into the living room and talked with May for an hour longer.

After saying their goodbyes, May even going in for a hug with Wade after hugging Peter goodbye, they walked out to see that it was already getting dark.

Peter’s hand was still in Wade’s even after they fell out of sight and made their way to the car. The only reason they pulled apart was so they could get in.

Wade slumped into the seat and Peter followed shortly.

“Bet you didn’t expect to be meeting your fake boyfriend's family today.” Peter teased and Wade grinned, shrugging.

“Normalcy is nice every once in a while.” He said as he turned the car on. Peter settled into his seat comfortably as Wade began driving again, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the center console and fingers tracing Peter’s knee idly.

“Who’s next?” Peter asked after a moment. Wade was silent for a long pause, jaw clenching, eyes hardening as he looked out at the road ahead.

“Davis.” He said. Peter could recall the name, the elementary school teacher who hurt Ellie and for once, he didn’t feel nervous or bad for the next poor sod who landed themselves on Wade’s hit list.

As they drove, Peter allowed the lull of the car pull him in, his eyelids falling heavy until finally he allowed sleep to drag him under, and if he could feel Wade’s eyes on him as he did, he didn’t show it.

Wade’s fingers continued tracing their pattern on Peter’s knee, glancing over to see his eyes getting heavier and heavier until he gave in.

There was a storm brewing inside Wade’s head, conflicting thoughts fighting for leverage over the other. He felt guilt for one, for dragging Peter into his mess, and that only worsened when he got a peek into his private life. May was incredibly sweet and it was clear that she always worried about Peter.

He let his thoughts run wild as he continued to drive, his fingers never stopping their tracing until only an hour later they were pulling into a parking lot.

The car slowing to a stop as Wade pulled into a parking space was what managed to pull him from his little catnap and he rubbed his eyes blearily as he sat up in his seat, taking a minute to take in his surroundings.

“Where are we?” He rasped, his voice thick with sleep and Wade wished he could hear it every morning.

“Strip club, pig goes here every weekend now that he lost his job, guess that means he has even more spare time to be a pervert.” Wade told him, eyes dark with the hatred he had for the man. Peter had a feeling this one was going to be particularly brutal.

“You’re gonna kill him here?” Peter questioned, brows pinched together.

“No, I’m going to watch him, follow him home, and kill him there.” Wade corrected before unbuckling and moving to get out, Peter following behind quickly after.

Peter fell into step beside Wade, watching his hand dangle at his side before— in a moment of boldness— Peter reached down and grabbed it in his own.

Wade looked down at their hands before looking at Peter, a smile pulling at his lips before he was tightening their grip and turning his attention onto the bouncer as he paid for Peter’s illegal entry.

Peter’s never been in a strip club, what with him not legally being able to, so he was a little taken aback when the first thing his eyes landed on as they walked through the door was a girl wearing platform heels, wearing nothing but skimpy lingerie that showed off her ‘assets’.

When Peter looked up at Wade, he noticed that the man didn’t even bother eyeing up the strippers, eyes sharp and searching for someone else.

He must’ve spotted Davis if the sudden pace he picked up told Peter anything. The hand held his firm as he pulled him through the club, slowing to a stop next to the bar.

“Want anything, baby boy?” Wade questioned and Peter cringed at the thought.

“Nope, I’m good.” He said and Wade cackled.

“Smart boy.” He nodded in approval before asking the bartender for two waters. Peter tipped his head questioning.

“You’re not drinking?”

“Oh I wanna be fully sober for this, baby.” The look on his face was dark, plotting as he said this, eyes never leaving a man who sat across the room in his own chair.

The man was blonde, just like the picture, and when Peter caught a glimpse of his face he was able to match it together with the man he saw in the file.

The man’s eyes never left the strippers, taking particular interest in the short girl who wore pigtails and Peter could only cringe in disgust at the blatant display of pedophilia. He obviously had a type.

They continued like that for an hour and a bit, talking amongst each other ever so often but mostly watching Davis, the both of them, Peter even— until the man was getting up and looked about ready to leave.

Wade stood from his stool as well before grabbing Peter’s hand again and following behind the man at a slow pace to stay undetected.

They got outside just a they saw Davis get in his car. Wade was calmly making his way toward their car just as Davis peeled out of the parking lot.

“You’re gonna lose him!” Peter worried, pausing to stare at the car driving away.

“I came prepared babe, I know where he lives. I’ll give the fucker a false sense of security in his own home just like he did Ellie in her own school.” He grumbled and Peter allowed himself to be pulled to the car.

As they drove, Wade was silent and Peter knew it would be better to let the silence sit instead of disrupting it, he could tell Wade was in a mode.

It wasn’t long after that they pulled up to a nice little house in the suburbs, the lawn was maintained and Davis’s car sat in the driveway.

Wade pulled up along the curb and began moving to get out, pausing when he noticed Peter doing the same.

“You’re sitting this one out, Pete. It’s not gonna be pretty.” He told him, reaching over and grabbing the seatbelt from Peter’s hands, clasping it back into place with a firm look.

“But—“

“Peter, you’re barely legal and he has a type. I’m not letting him near you, even while he’s choking on his own blood.” Wade told him, voice hard and eyes harder. Peter opened his mouth to argue but Wade was already getting out, closing the door before grabbing what he needed from the back seat and closing that door too.

Peter watched from his seat as Wade marched right up to the front door and bent down, sticking a lock pick through the keyhole and jimmying.

A second later the door was popping open and Wade was glancing around before disappearing inside.

And listen. Peter tried to listen to Wade, but he only managed to sit in the seat for five minutes before he was mumbling a ‘fuck it’ and unbuckling, jumping out of the car.

Wade crept inside the house, following the sound of a television playing some kind of show upstairs. He gripped the gun tighter as he hugged the walls, steps slow and light.

He rounded a corner and found the stairs there, glancing around once more before going up.

The tv was getting louder the closer he got, most of the lights were off, casting the house in shadows and making it easier for Wade to sneak around.

Or so he thought before he was being tackled from behind.

He landed with a grunt and flipped around to see Davis himself on top of him before a fist was meeting his face.

“You think I didn’t notice you watching me like prey the whole time there?” Davis spat before landing another blow.

“Yeah, like you watch children?”

Wade managed to semi-block the next blow before he was quickly swinging the gun, knocking the man upside the head with the weapon. Davis blinked dazedly for a moment, barely having a chance to recover before Wade was flipping them.

He drove his fist into the man’s face like he was pulverizing meat. His knuckles burned and they were stained with blood. He had the gun in his hand still but he only planned on using it once he was done giving the man what he deserved.

The sound of something falling downstairs had Wade’s attention pulled from the man below him, brows pinched in confusion before he felt himself being thrown off and pinned again.

Wade fought as Davis fought the gun free from his hands, tossing it aside before wrapping his hands around Wade’s throat, grip immediately constricting his breathing.

He gagged as the grip pressed down firmer on his windpipe, crushing it. He had to give it to Davis, the man could fight, but Wade was batshit crazy, it never ended well in the end.

As black spots were beginning to creep along the edges of his vision, Wade was reaching for his gun blindly, attempting to get ahold of it before the man managed to actually kill him.

When suddenly a dull 'thwap!'  could be heard, Davis’s groaning and falling to the side right after.

Peter stood above Wade now, eyes panicked and gun looking unnatural gripped in his hands, pointed shakily at Davis.

With Davis groaning in pain next to him, cupping his bleeding head, Wade looked back at Peter.

“Holy shit, baby boy.” He breathed, looking up at Peter and honest to god fighting to not pop a boner right then and there. Wade pushed himself up and to his feet. He stood next to Peter, looking down at the shitbag whining on the ground.

“Gimme the gun, Pete.” He said, holding out his hand without taking his eyes off the man. Peter shakily handed the gun over to him, words nonexistent to him right now.

“Wait downstairs.” Wade told him and Peter nodded, quickly turning on his heel and running back downstairs.

Peter pressed his back to the front door, sliding down until he had his knees to his chest and held out his shaking hands in front of himself.

Suddenly, Davis was screaming blood murder upstairs before the screams were muffled and there was the faint sound of a bone breaking.

Whatever Wade was doing to the man, it lasted the better part of thirty minutes before the screams fell silent after one loud gunshot and a thud. Peter looked up when Wade came back down the stairs, hoodie and pants now covered in blood, smeared and splattered.

Peter pushed himself to stand up, stepping toward Wade as the man crowded him against the wall.

“Told you you’d need backup.” Peter laughed shakily, although there wasn’t much humour in it. Wade had a look in his eyes, one that had Peter’s stomach flipping and doing all kinds of shit.

He didn’t say anything and that almost made Peter more nervous. Instead, he continued to crowd Peter up against the wall before he was suddenly reaching up and cupping his cheek, leaning down and in and clashing their mouths together.

Peter moaned into the kiss, melting against the other man. Wade kissed him like he was starving, other hand roaming over his side before reaching down and grabbing his ass, squeezing and forcing another moan from Peter’s lips.

His face flushed when he felt Wade’s hard-on pressing into his hip and he had to push his thighs together.

“W-Wade— the body, we should get out of here.” Peter gasped as he pulled back, Wade attempting to follow but Peter clasped a hand over his mouth preventing him which only earned a groan as Wade dropped his head onto his shoulder.

“Okay, yeah. Fuck, fine.” He grumbled before forcing himself to pull away.

An hour later Wade had finished digging Davis' grave in his own backyard. Wade was aware that police usually found the bodies he left in his wake, but by the time they found them Wade was always long gone, trail cold.

They were in the car finally, driving away carefully since Wade was covered in blood and it would cause some problems if they got pulled over, not that Wade would actually pull over anyway.

His hand was big and warm on Peter’s thigh, squeezing periodically and causing Peter to push his thighs together with flushed cheeks, Wade’s knowing smirk didn’t help.

Eventually, they were pulling up to another apartment and Peter was tensing, he was still reeling from everything that had happened. He was technically involved in assisting with a murder.

“It’s my place, Pete. We’re done for tonight.” He assured him with a squeeze and Peter’s shoulders dropped, tension leaving.

Once Wade was parked they got out and began walking toward the apartment, Peter’s hand gripped in Wade’s, the buzz of adrenaline never leaving Peter since he whacked Davis upside the head with the gun, throwing him off of Wade.

When Peter looked up at Wade, eyes finding his neck, he could see the light ring of bruises and it terrified him to think that Davis could’ve won and killed him if Peter hadn’t ignored Wade’s orders to stay in the car.

Only a minute later Wade was unlocking a door and pushing it open, letting Peter go in first.

The apartment was surprisingly cozy, the kitchen and living room connected together and a door in the back corner which probably led to Wade’s room and another that he could guess was the bathroom.

“Make yourself comfortable, baby boy. I need to shower real quick then I’ll make us something to eat.” He told Peter as he pulled off his blood-stained hoodie.

Peter had settled on the couch but he couldn’t avoid glancing at Wade as he shucked off the hoodie, wearing nothing but a six-pack of abs underneath that had Peter’s eyes widening and cheeks growing hot.

He was well aware of how big Wade was, it was no question whether or not he was ripped, but Peter had no way of seeing exactly how ripped when Wade’s hidden it beneath a hoodie the whole time he’s known him.

As if sensing Peter’s eyes on him, Wade turned to look at him just as Peter snapped his head in another direction, but if the amused cackle from Wade had anything to say, it meant Wade had caught him anyway.

A second later the bathroom door was clicking shut behind the man and Peter could finally fall limp on the couch, hands covering his face as he calmed his racing heart.

Wade had kissed him— no— devoured him less than two hours ago. Peter hadn’t been expecting it, but he’d been pleased nonetheless.

Feeling Wade’s large hands glide across his body, groping and groaning into his mouth had done things to Peter and even thinking about it had him growing wet again.

He never would’ve thought he’d let things get this far, Wade was a killer but he was also killing literal monsters that were still allowed to walk around New York as if they hadn’t destroyed those lives of others out of selfishness lust.

Peter couldn’t deny his attraction toward him, if Wade had truly just been a regular guy coming in to get coffee that night, Peter never would’ve stopped thinking about him. But now that Peter was past the whole murder thing, he felt as if there was nothing holding him back anymore.

Suddenly, the door was clicking open again and Peter didn’t even realize he’d zoned out for that long before Wade was stepping out in a pair of sweatpants and nothing else, his damp hair drying already.

Wade paused when he met Peter’s eyes and he must’ve seen something in them; because the moment Peter reached out and said a whiny “Wade…” Wade was across the room in three quick strides.

Peter barely had time to sit up before Wade was falling down next to him and grabbing his chin, guiding him into another heated kiss, pushing him back down as he kept himself propped up with his elbow and pushed his knee between Peter’s legs.

Peter moaned as Wade applied a light pressure against the area he needed touched the most and he pushed into it.

Suddenly Wade was pulling away, placing kisses and nips to his neck now, causing Peter’s eyes to fall shut as his head tilted back, allowing him more access.

The kisses travelled lower until Wade was pushing his hoodie up to his chest, taking a nipple into his mouth and sucking, causing more heat to grow in his tummy, his mouth falling open as a breathy moan left him.

“Fuck, those noises.” Wade moaned against him and Peter’s cheeks flushed as he lifted a hand to cover his mouth.

Wade quickly reached up to grab his wrist, pulling it away from his mouth.

“Not how this is happening baby boy, I want to hear you.” He grinned before travelling lower. His fingers hooked under the waistband of Peter’s pants and he paused, eyes searching for permission before Peter was nodding.

Suddenly, his pants and underwear were being slid down his legs and his knees were being pushed apart, exposing him completely and not helping the way Peter’s face already burned. He’s never done something like this and honestly, the buzz of adrenaline was almost addicting.

Wade was suddenly dipping his head down then, kissing the insides of his thighs tauntingly, making Peter squirm as he ghosted around the area where Peter needed him.

“Wade,” Peter whined.

“That’s what I was waiting for.” Wade smirked before he was finally leaning down further and licking a firm hot stripe from his hole to his clit, causing Peter to nearly squeal as a flood of heat washed over him.

Wade’s tongue was slow and torturous as he flicked his tongue back and forth over his clit, hands holding his twitching legs in place to keep him from squeezing them shut.

Suddenly, he was lapping at the wetness dripping from his hole, his tongue slipping inside before making its way back up to his clit and sucking, causing Peter to cry out and arch his back.

He could feel the knot in his stomach growing tighter and tighter as Wade ate him out and his hands found Wade’s hair, gripping and tugging as a tremor washed through him and the groan it pulled from the older man

“Wait— Wade…” Peter panted, legs straining against Wade’s hands as he got closer to orgasm, encouraging Wade to go faster. Wade groaned as Peter began to grind against his mouth, hips rolling and twitching, watching the muscles in Wade’s back and shoulders flex as he made an effort to keep Peter in place.

The pleasure was almost overwhelming as Peter’s eyelids began to flutter, back arching and fingers tugging the hair in his hands until suddenly the dam was breaking and Peter was shuddering apart.

His orgasm hit him like a tidal wave, a choked-off moan falling from his lips once he caught his breath. Wade continued to lap at him until Peter was whining, overstimulated and attempting to squirm away.

Wade finally pulled away, licking his lips and wiping the wetness off of his chin.

“Sorry baby boy, you were just so twitchy I couldn’t help it.” He teased, a grin on his lips as he climbed back up his body to kiss him.

Peter fell lax into the kiss before that heat was stirring in his stomach again, clit throbbing.

“Mm— need you,” Peter murmured as they pulled apart.

“I’m right here baby,”

“No, I need you in me.” Peter shook his head, flexing his hips and grinding down against the hard-on tenting in Wade’s sweatpants.

Wade’s jaw clenched as he bit back a groan, hips automatically grinding forward.

“You sure, Pete? You’ve never—“

“I don’t care, Wade. I need you.” Peter cut him off, impatiently wriggling his hips. The look in Wade’s eyes was dark and heated, he looked like he wanted to devour him right then and there.

In the blink of an eye, Peter was being picked up in a way that his legs automatically wrapped around Wade’s waist and his arms around his neck.

Peter yelped and clung to Wade, the world spinning at the sudden change.

Suddenly Peter was being dropped onto a bed, bouncing lightly before Wade was kneeling over him, his head level with his chest as he reached a hand down and dragged two fingers between his slit, finger brushing against his clit and sending a shudder through Peter as he did.

He watched as Wade repeated the motion a few times before curling one finger back to his palm and slowly pushing the other inside, causing Peter’s head to fall back with a moan.

Wade felt himself straining against his boxers painfully as the warmth enveloped his finger, pushing in easily.

He could feel Peter clench around him instinctively, looking up to see Peter laying flat on his back, chest and face flushed as he panted.

He pumped the finger into him slowly before eventually adding another, and another until he was three fingers in and fucking Peter at a fast steady pace.

Peter writhed and fought to pull his hoodie off, fully exposed to the cool air fighting to keep his rising temperature down.

Wade began curling his fingers, searching and prodding. Peter could feel the motion and while it wasn’t unpleasant he couldn’t figure out what Wade was trying to do.

“What’re you—“ suddenly stars were bursting across his vision as Wade’s fingers hit a bundle of nerves, pleasure shooting straight through his stomach and up his spine.

“Found it.” Wade grinned, watching Peter gasp out a wrecked moan, his back arching and pushing down into Wade’s fingers.

Wade continued to nail his g spot, fingers pumping in and out, curling as they dragged out, cock throbbing at the reactions it was pulling from the boy.

Peter could feel that familiar knot building again and he knew it would be over shortly if Wade continued like this.

“Wade, Wade if you don’t stop I’m gonna come again.” He warned breathlessly.

“Isn’t that what we want?” Wade taunted and Peter wanted to growl in frustration but it died in his throat at a particularly hard thrust.

“Not without you inside me.”

“Pushy pushy.” Wade grinned before he was finally pulling his fingers out, bringing them up to his mouth and sucking them into his mouth in a way that had Peter’s face flushing.

He watched as Wade grabbed the waistband of his sweatpants and boxers, pulling them down and stepping out of them, revealing what would have Peter’s jaw dropping and nerves growing.

“You sure you still wanna do this?” Wade asked as he crawled back up Peter’s body. Peter nodded quickly but Wade could obviously see the nerves.

“I’ll take it nice and slow, baby. You call the shots.” He reassured him and Peter could only nod again, watching as Wade leaned up and back so he could grab himself. He paused to look up at Peter.

“Condom? You on the pill?”

“I’m on the pill, it’s okay.” Peter confirmed and Wade was nodding before lining himself up, slowly pushing the first inch in, stopping once he passed the tip.

Peter winced at the first initial stretch before it was morphing into pleasure. He gave Wade the go to keep going and suddenly the stretch was returning as Wade continued to push in, inch by inch until he was fully seated.

Peter felt full, Wade’s cock pressed right against that little bundle of nerves he’d been abusing moments before, making his legs tingle.

Once Wade was fully in, he dropped his head and took a moment to reel himself in, eyes squeezed shut as he felt Peter clench around him, adjusting to the size. Peter was giving him the go a few seconds after and Wade was slowly pulling out, feeling the tortuous drag of Peter’s walls as he did. He pushed back in slowly but firmly and the whimper it pulled from the boy only spurred him on further as he repeated the motion again, and again, until he was setting a steady pace.

Sitting back on his heels, Wade grabbed Peter’s legs and suddenly pulled him close, pushing him further on his cock and knocking a surprised moan out of him. He changed the angle by lifting one of Peter’s legs and resting it on his shoulder, propping himself up over him as he rolled his hips faster.

He captured Peter’s lips with his own, tongue slipping past his lips. Peter sighed into the kiss, little moans punching out of him with each firm roll of Wade’s hips, Wade’s own grunts mingling with Peter’s.

“Feel so fucking good, baby. And seeing that gun in your hands earlier, fuck.” Wade growled against his lips and pulled back to look at his face, blissed out and eyes clouded with pleasure.

“Told you something could happen—“ Peter bit out, words breathless and met with a hard thrust that he swore he could feel hit his cervix.

“Still told you to stay in the car, brat.” He punctuated with another thrust that had Peter crying out. Suddenly he was sitting back and grabbing Peter’s legs, rearranging them so they both sat on his shoulders, hips pulled into Wade’s lap before he leaned back over him and began pounding into him.

Peter’s moans raised in pitch and volume as the angle made it so Wade directly hit that bundle of nerves inside him, each thrust merciless and travelling straight up his spine.

That knot was building, he was clenching around Wade’s cock with each drag out, sending their own ripples of pleasure straight through the other man, having him chase the orgasm he too could feel quickly approaching. Wade leaned down then and took a nipple into his mouth, tweaking the bud between his teeth causing Peter’s back to arch. His other hand travelled down Peter’s stomach until it was brushing his fingers across his clit, firmly but gently pressing down and rubbing in quick circles.

“Wade!” That was the final blow as Peter felt the knot snap, his orgasm washing over him as his back arched and he cried out, one hand gripping Wade’s hair while the other gripped the pillow above his head.

As Peter shook apart under him, Wade managed to thrust three more times before he was chasing his own release, burying himself deep with one last thrust.

His arms only held him up for so long as they caught their breath before he was falling beside Peter, pulling him with him so Peter’s leg stayed wrapped over his hip.

A comfortable silence rested between them as they recovered in the afterglow, Wade’s arms wrapped around the boy tight until eventually he was pulling back enough to slip out of him, stirring a whine of complaint as he did.

“Come on, Petey. Gotta clean up.” He urged gently, pulling him close.

“But I’m so tired.” He huffed and Wade smiled into his hair.

“Too bad, I’m not letting ya sleep like this, you’ll thank me tomorrow.”

Wade managed to get them both into the bathroom, Peter never letting up his hold on Wade the whole way, his arms and legs wrapped around him until he was sitting him on the toilet lid and moving to fill the decent-sized jacuzzi.

He must’ve dozed off because the next time he opened his eyes it was because he felt himself being picked up.

Suddenly he was being lowered into hot water that instantly soothed the ache he felt throughout his whole body, causing goosebumps to rise across his skin. Wade sat behind him and arranged him so he could lay against his chest and wrap his arms around his waist.

Peter pressed his face into the skin of Wade’s chest, his eyes comfortably shut and mind drifting.

Wade looked down at the boy against him, his curls damp from sweat and moisture, his lashes ghosting his cheeks and his cheeks squished adorably with the way he was laying.

As Wade took in every detail of Peter, he realized just how deep he’d gotten himself. It didn’t take him long to realize he’d do anything for the boy, even if that meant killing for him.

He thinks back to when he went to Weasel's house and had him plug into Peter’s phone to disable any trackers the police could get ahold of and do a little digging.

He found out that Peter Parker was assigned female at birth before transitioning around the age of twelve. He found out that Peter grew up in Queens with his aunt and uncle after his parents died, his uncle following afterward leaving his aunt the only family he had left.

He also came to learn that there was a hidden police report deep in, mentioning that Peter had a babysitter by the name of Steven Westcott who police were informed later had been sexually abusing the boy for months.

Wade had barely even known the kid but there was an instinctual protectiveness that he could feel as soon as he looked at the picture of a ten-year-old Peter Parker, eyes dull and missing the spark Wade saw in them now.

He’d stored the bit of information away then, unsure of what he wanted to do with it yet.

But as Wade recalled it now, he knew what his final job had to be. Then he’d let Peter go and they would part their ways, despite everything in Wade wishing it didn’t have to happen like that.

Once the water ran cold and Peter was out like a light on his chest, Wade moved them to the bed and wrapped Peter in a towel before pulling the sheets over them.

Peter sank into the embrace as Wade wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him in.

Peter woke up feeling beyond refreshed like he’d slept a million years. As he stretched beneath the covers he could feel the dull ache through his body, specifically down there.

It took him a moment to regain his surroundings and when he pushed the covers down enough to take in the room, he was jumping when he heard a voice from the door.

“Man, that is a sight isn’t it?” Wade hummed from his position leaned against the doorframe. Peter smiled groggily before pushing himself to sit up.

“I got breakfast aka dinner waiting in the kitchen. I let you sleep as long as you needed but figured you’d wake up soon and be pretty hungry.” Wade explained and if Peter were anyone else, he wouldn’t have noticed the nervous edge to his words.

“Do you have something I can wear?” Peter questioned instead of questioning the obvious. Wade nodded and quickly walked over the to drawer, pulling out a folded-up hoodie.

Once Peter had pulled on the oversized hoodie and his boxers, he met Wade in the kitchen to see an array of foods ranging from chicken quesadillas to tacos and chimichangas.

His stomach growled at the sight and he quickly made his way to the counter where Wade was standing in front of the stove, wearing nothing but an apron that read 'kiss the cook'  and sweatpants. Peter didn’t mean to stare, but his eyes caught the flexing muscles in Wade’s back as he reached around and plated more quesadillas and he couldn’t tear his eyes away, flashbacks of mere hours ago stepping front as he did.

Only twenty minutes later they were sat on the couch, stuffing their faces very unattractively, legs tangled together and a movie playing mindlessly in the background.

“I have to ask, but do you have another job? Or was that everyone?” He asked, voice hopeful, not that he didn’t have any more jobs, but Peter hoped in a twisted way he did if it meant they didn’t have to part yet, Peter didn’t even know how to move past this.

“Mm, no. There’s one more.” Wade mumbled through a mouthful of quesadillas, eyes pointedly avoiding Peter’s and that nervous twitch was back, his foot bouncing.

Peter eyed his foot skeptically, the question on the tip of his tongue before Wade was speaking again, shifting in his seat.

“But uh— I think it’s best I go solo for this one. It’s… personal.” He cleared his throat. Peter raised a brow.

“More personal than Davis?” He urged, perhaps too much. Wade shrugged.

“In a way.” Was all he said and that did nothing to help answer the questions running through his head.

It was obvious that Wade really didn't want to talk about it so despite Peter’s nosey curiosity, he backed off and simply cuddled closer to the man, shifting in his lap to get more comfortable.

The two stayed like that for the rest of the movie, food long done and empty plates piled on the coffee table.

Wade was quiet, quieter than usual, and clingy. He refused to let go of Peter, even when Peter squirmed and told him he had to go pee, he simply wrapped his arms around him tighter, refusing to let up until Peter told him that he’d piss on him if he didn’t let go which earned a groan and arms falling from around his middle.

And once he was back on the couch, the arms were around him tighter than before. The movie had long since finished and Wade had put another one on, almost like he was trying to stall for time. It all made Peter’s stomach twist in knots.

Almost three hours later, it was getting dark again, Peter was certain he had to have lost his job by now with the shifts he’s missed but he didn’t even care anymore, he’d never been more content just like this, on a lumpy couch wrapped in warm firm arms.

But Wade could only stall for so long before he finally got up and began getting his stuff together, packing his duffle bag back up again.

Peter had thrown his pants back on but kept the hoodie. When Wade walked back into the living room with his bag Peter was watching from the couch. He watched as Wade came to a stop in front of him. There was silence, then “Can I come with you?” From Peter. Hopeful, almost pleading for it to not be over yet. That was all it took for Wade to give in.

Peter once told Wade not to get used to seeing him in his passenger seat, but now as he sat there once again, he realized he should’ve told that to himself.

Wade’s hand was on his thigh, never leaving, squeezing and stroking his thumb back and forth absentmindedly. The feeling Wade’s touch gave him never diminished, never lessened or lost its spark, and Peter had a feeling Wade never got tired of touching him.

It was dark, late in the evening as Wade drove through a dimly lit neighbourhood. Sitting comfortably at the speed limit posted, no sharp turns or insane drifts that Peter had gotten used to. He was taking his time, and Peter wasn’t gonna rush that.

Not long later they were pulling into a dark parking lot, parking his car at the far end behind the building the lot belonged to.

“When we go in there you’re to stick by my side the whole time, okay? I know these people but they don’t know you, and they love to see some fresh meat walking through those doors.” Wade explained once he’d parked the car.

Peter nodded and followed Wade out of the car and to the back doors of the building, a sign above reading ‘Sister Margaret’s’.

As soon as Wade pulled open the door for Peter to go ahead of him he was hit with the strong odor of cigar smoke and alcohol, the sound of pool balls clicking together meeting his ears.

As they rounded a corner Peter was introduced to the rest of the bar, a smaller place but plenty of people to fill it. Wade kept Peter’s hand gripped in his and walked ahead of him, guiding him past a fight that had broken out on a nearby pool table.

Peter wasn’t gonna lie and say he didn’t feel incredibly out of place in a bar full of violent people, and as he looked up at the chalkboard to read the words ‘dead pool’ he realized that they were quite literally betting on each other to die.

People brushed past him, some lingering as they did, double-taking. Wade’s guiding grip kept him moving until they were stopping in front of a bar. He pulled peter to sit in the seat in front of him, his front pressed up against Peter’s back as he sat down. He was tapping the bar, whistling and waving a blonde bartender over. His hair was greasy and long and black-framed glasses sat on his nose crookedly.

“The fuck you want, Wilson.” the man greeted kindly, his voice nasally and annoyed. Wade grinned sweetly above him.

“Missed you too Weasel. We gotta talk. I have a few questions about a job.” he said, tone absent of any humour. Weasel huffed and looked around the bar full of people before glancing down at Peter, raising a brow.

“Here?”

“No, in the back.” he said and Weasel rolled his eyes.

“Way to make it sound like a suspicious quickie fuck sesh.” he mumbled before walking down the bar to slip through the back door. Wade’s hand held the back of Peter’s neck as he leaned close and said.

“Keep your ass posted right here, anyone tries talking to you, aim for the nuts.” he said, voice hard before giving him a squeeze and moving away to follow the other man into the back. Peter huffed at being left in the dark again but he simply crossed his arms and lazily waved down the other bartender.

Wade slipped through the office door and found Weasel waiting inside, already sitting at the computers atop his desk.

“Whaddya wanna know?” Weasel questioned, fingers resting on the keyboard.

“I need more information on Steven Westcott, his address, where he visits, people he knows. I’m finding this guy tonight then I’m leaving Pete out of this.”

“So that’s the kid, huh? Cute one,”

“Watch it, Weas.”

“I’m just saying, it’s been a long time since you’ve gotten laid. Sure you wanna let him go so soon?” he was typing away at the computer as he said this, clicking multiple files faster than Wade could keep up.

“He’s more than just a lay, dick for brains. Which is exactly why I need to get him away from me. He’s already had a run-in with the cops questioning him, kid ran from them when they cornered him. They’re already gonna suspect something and that’s because he was protecting my ass.”

“Just tell him to tell them you had him at gunpoint and threatened him if he told.” Weasel shrugged, eyes never leaving the screen.

“I already told him to say that, but if he gets seen with me he’ll still get in trouble.”

“Get plastic surgery?”

“Very funny asshole.”

“You’re worrying about nothing, besides, when are you gonna find someone as understanding as he’s been? He’s not trying to run anymore, and running from the cops? Sounds pretty loyal to me.”

“He doesn’t deserve this lifestyle, Weasel.” Wade argued and Weasel paused, glancing at Wade thoughtfully for a moment before shrugging again.

“You could always retire?” He offered and Wade raised a brow.

“Retire? From being a criminal? I don’t think police care if you suddenly have a change of heart.” Wade huffed a laugh, rolling his eyes.

“Move out of Manhattan, go somewhere where you’re less infamous, start over. It’ll give me a break from your ass.” Weasel huffed before clicking one final time and opening a file. “Steven Westcott, 76 Chapel Street Queens, apartment number 27. He goes to a bakery every night after his run in about… three hours according to his debit car payments.” Weasel told him, reading off of the screen.

Wade clung to the information, storing it away easily and nodding.

“Piece of advice, if you’re gonna do this job. Don’t bring the kid near the guy. If you’re gonna cut ties, do it now so that he doesn’t risk revisiting that particular… trauma.” Weasel told him and Wade nodded, that anger rising again as he remembered just who he was after.

“Thanks Weas.” he said before slipping back out of the office.

When Wade rounded the corner and went back into the bar, his eyes were instantly seeking out that head of wild brown curls, body tense until finally he caught sight of him, leaned against the bar comfortably with a drink in his hand and a man talking to him. Wade’s gaze darkened as he picked up his pace.

“Thought you realized you couldn’t hold your alcohol that well, sweetheart.” Wade mumbled as he slipped in beside Peter, shouldering the man away. The perv opened his mouth to argue but quickly fell silent at the sharp look Wade shot him before shuffling away. Wade turned back to the boy, grabbing the drink out of his hand. “Let’s go, Pete.”

“Was just one drink,” Peter mumbled in complaint but hopped off of the bar stool nonetheless, slipping his hand into Wade’s almost automatically, pressing close to his side. Wade raised a brow at the clinginess but didn’t try to fight it, simply squeezing Peter’s hand as he guided him out of the bar.

They slipped into the car and Wade took off out of the parking lot, his hand finding Peter’s thigh. Peter cozied into the seat and looked over at Wade.

“We’re we heading? Or are you gonna be all secretive and mysterious?” Peter teased lightly. Wade swallowed before clearing his throat.

“Uh, I’m driving you home, baby boy.” He told him, glancing over just as Peter’s face fell.

“You’re driving me home?” He repeated and at Wade’s nod, he slumped in his seat. “I thought you had one more job?” he tried weakly.

“I do, I don’t want you involved in this one, Pete.” Wade told him and there was something about how he said it this time that told Peter he was serious and that there wouldn’t be any persuading his mind. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t really know what to say so instead his hand found the top of Wade’s and sat there for the whole car ride.

Wade really didn’t expect to get attached, but life had a funny way of taunting him with something he knew he could have if he was anyone else other than a Mercenary for hire who kills people for money or as his own sadistic form of justice.

Wade knew Peter was getting attached, he couldn’t let him get too tied up, it was already dangerous enough that Wade allowed his feelings to get the better of him and make things personal, but god– he did not regret getting to see and feel Peter writh under him.

The drive to Queens wasn’t long which made it worse, Wade practically drove below the limit until he was pulling up to an apartment building. He pulled over to the curb and parked the car, moving his hand so he could get out of the car. Peter sighed and moved to follow, for once not wanting to.

Wade walked him to his apartment, carrying his bag that he’d had with him from work. Peter found his keys and unlocked the door. For once his home oddly didn’t feel like home, it felt cold and empty as he stepped inside, Wade following behind him.

Peter turned to look at Wade, watching as he set his bag down on the ground next to the shoe rack. He looked up at Peter and it seemed for once he was at a loss for words.

“You could always stay for a bit longer?” Peter offered hopefully. Wade caved and as soon as the door was shut behind him, Peter was on him, sighing into the kiss as Wade’s back pressed against the door, stomach flexing as Peter’s hands ghosted over his abs.

Wade cupped his jaw and neck, tilting his head as he deepened the kiss, pushing back until Peter was suddenly pulling away, pressing kisses and nipping at his jaw as he made his way down. Peter after a glass of liquid courage was something, and Wade couldn’t get enough.

Suddenly, Peter was on his knees and fumbling with Wade’s belt. Wade bit back a groan as Peter managed to undo the clasp and pull it open, his fingers flicking the button of his jeans open.

“Pete, you don’t have to–”

“Shut up, Wade.” Peter murmured as he pulled down Wade’s boxers and jeans enough for him to spring free. Peter’s hands were immediately wrapping around him and a tongue was licking a long stripe from bottom to top, causing Wade’s head to thunk back against the door as his mouth fell open and eyes fluttered.

Peter pressed teasing kisses and sucks over the head, flicking his tongue out and swirling it in a dangerous way that had Wade seeing stars. Suddenly Peter was dropping his other hand so only one was wrapping around him as he took him into his mouth, dragging a groan out of Wade as his hand found Peter’s head, not pushing, just brushing back his curls.

The lewd sounds that escaped Peter’s mouth as he bobbed his head and hollowed his cheeks added to the pleasure Wade already felt numbing his legs. He could feel himself teetering toward the edge but he wasn’t nearly ready enough to be done with Peter.

Suddenly, Wade was pulling out of Peter’s mouth and scooping him under his arms, making him yelp as he automatically wrapped his legs around his waist to cling onto him. Wade walked further into the apartment until he was dropping down onto the couch, Peter sat firmly on his lap and immediately rolling and grinding his hips down against him.

Wade devoured his mouth as he fought to kick off his pants and boxers, pushing Wade so he was laying on the couch, back cushioned by the pillows as Peter settled overtop him again, bare cunt sat atop Wade’s cock, practically sandwiched. Peter rolled his hips, sliding across his dick before sliding back down, torturing the older man.

Suddenly Peter was reaching down and grabbing Wade, guiding him to his entrance before slowly sinking down, moaning the same time as Wade’s head fell back and his eyes fell shut, a moan falling from his lips as Peter sank all the way down.

Once fully seated, Peter wiggled and squirmed, heat flooding his abdomen at feeling so full, able to feel exactly where Wade’s cock twitched inside him and he clenched with a shudder. Placing his hands on Wade’s chest, Peter experimentally lifted his hips by arching his back before dropping back down.

He repeated the action until he was pulling back enough so only the tip stayed inside before slamming back down, knocking the wind from himself with each thrust. Wade’s hands gripped Peter’s hips, chest rising and falling with his breathless pants as he watched Peter ride him, the sound of skin on skin slapping and moans filling the otherwise silent room.

Wade suddenly reached up and wrapped an arm around his middle, yanking him down so Peter’s chest was pressed against his, still bouncing on his cock as Wade smashed their mouths together, tongue slipping into Peter’s mouth as he suddenly gripped his hips and began thrusting up into him in time with his bounces.

Peter squealed into his mouth before he was pulling back to drop his head against Wade’s chest, mouth open as he cried out and took Wade’s hard thrusts.

His cock nailed Peter’s sweet spot with each thrust, quickly sending Peter toppling toward the edge. He didn’t move from his position against Wade’s chest and Wade’s pace didn’t falter, if anything it got faster, hips rolling and burying himself deep until Peter’s moans were breaking and his back was arching.

With one final thrust, Wade was chasing his orgasm and burying himself deep into Peter, feeling a gush of fluid soak his cock, creating a nicer slide as he slammed in one, two, three more times as Peter’s orgasm shook through his body, milking his own.

Once he finally came down from the high, he realized that Peter had just squirted and honestly, if he tried saying that wasn’t the hottest thing he’s ever seen, he’d be lying to himself. Peter was spent, panting against his chest and weakly lifting his hips to let Wade slip out of him, moaning as he felt everything spilling out.

They laid like that for a long time, Wade’s arms wrapped around Peter, holding him to his chest and a comfortable post blissful silence between them.

Wade found his eyes wandering tiredly until they landed on the clock on the stove, reading 10 pm. Westcott would be getting back from his run in an hour. Wade felt almost sort of cold as he looked down at Peter, dozing contently in his arms.

Wade realized this was it, this was when he had to do it. It was now or never or he’d let himself be dragged in and poison Peter with his own lifestyle out of selfish greed.

After a few minutes more of just simply laying together, Wade eventually shifted and stood up with Peter held tight in his arms. He carried him through the apartment until he found his room and gently laid him down, heart clenching painfully as Peter sighed sleepily, cuddling into his pillow.

Wade wandered into the bathroom and came back with a wet cloth, gently and carefully wiping him down before pulling the covers over his body.

He lingered in the doorway longer than he intended to, just watching the rise and fall of Peter’s shoulders as he breathed. But as he glanced at the glaring green numbers on the stove, he forced himself to walk away and go to the kitchen, finding a pen and napkin to write a quick goodbye note.

After leaving it on the coffee table, Wade walked over to the livingroom window, grabbing the handle and lifting it up so he could crawl out onto the fire escape. After securing his window shut again he climbed down the fire escape and got back into his car.

He sat there for another minute, simply staring up at Peter’s window as if expecting him to climb out after him and demand he take him just like he had been for the past day or so. But the window remained shut and Wade was starting the car up.

Westcott still lived in Queens, less than twenty minutes away and it genuinely grated on Wade’s nerves that the man could still live so close to the same kid he’d been molesting for a year. He hadn’t gotten prison time because Peter hadn’t wanted to press charges so basically Skip got a slap on the wrist and that was it.

But the man was about to get a rude awakening and experience first-handedly what karma has to offer for people like him.

He got to the bakery quickly, the store was empty minus the few workers shuffling around in the back, boxing up the leftover baked goods for the night as they prepared to close. But the man came in just like a typical grade-A asshole customer would ten minutes before close. Wade sat at a little table off to the side, hidden mostly behind a vending machine as he sipped at the cold coffee he’d bought almost thirty minutes ago.

The bell rang as Skip marched in through the door, shirt damp with sweat from running, his platinum blonde hair damp and mused. Just looking at him had Wade itching to get his hands around his neck.

He watched as the man ordered a takeout of donuts and Wade wanted to snort in amusement that the man would go on a run just to buy donuts right after, practically cancelling the other out. He got up as soon as the man left the store. He’d already parked his car outside of Westcotts' apartment building, the bakery was only a two-minute walk down the street and Wade knew he’d need his car close to the scene.

He followed behind the man from a large distance, hands in his pocket, fiddling with the fully loaded gun he held in there, and his hood drawn up to shadow his face. Westcott walked obliviously, stuffing his face with a donut as he did until he was pulling open the door to an apartment building and disappearing inside.

Wade had done some snooping already and he’d figured out which fire escape led to Westcott’s apartment so he quickly grabbed the ladder to the orange fire escape and pulled himself up, climbing the steps until he was outside the man's window.

Pushing it open quickly, Wade slipped inside and jumped down, pulling it shut behind him just as he could hear the sound of keys jangling and the lock being fiddled with. Skirting around the couch and crouching down behind it.

The door was opening then and Westcott was walking inside tossing his keys into the bowl on the table before he was wandering over to the couch, grabbing the remote and turning on the tv. Wade stood up slowly, unbeknownst to the man in front of him, he pulled his gun from his pocket and reeled it back before thwacking it upside the man's head.

Westcott groaned as he toppled forward into the glass coffee table, shattering it and cutting himself up as he did. He groaned and rolled in the glass as he held his bleeding head, squinting up at Wade as the man rounded the couch slowly.

“Who the fuck are you?” Westcott spat shakily, pushing himself back and away as Wade advanced on him. Suddenly Wade was reaching down and grabbing him by the front of his shirt and throwing him into the TV.

He didn’t give Westcott a chance to get back up this time as he got on top of him, putting his gun into his back pocket and reeling a fist back, landing it against the man's jaw before repeating the action and cracking his nose. He grabbed his hand with one hand, reaching into his pocket with the other before flicking a blade out and stabbing it through the predator's hand and pinning it into the carpet above his head.

Westcott’s scream was muffled as Wade pressed a hand against his mouth roughly, thunking his head against the ground with a crack.

“Police might not have had the balls to do anything to you after you hurt that kid, but me? You’re fucked.” Wade cackled almost maniacally before grabbing Westcott's other arm and twisting it with a harsh yank, snapping it.

Wade was suddenly pulling the knife from his hand and dragging him by his broken arm to the window. Pushing it back up with one hand he manhandled the man through the window before propping him up against the railing of the fire escape.

“Aim for the dumpster.” was the only warning he gave before he was stepping back and landing a solid kick to his chest sending him tipping over the railing and screaming as he fell, the impact of his legs hitting the concrete and snapping coming a second later followed by a guttural cry.

Wade made his way down the fire escape and seconds later he was walking up to Westcott’s writhing form. He stared down at the pathetic sack of shit at his feet before he was pulling his keys from his pocket and pressing a button, popping the trunk.

He bent down and grabbed the man's mangled legs, dragging him across the filthy alleyway until they reached his car. He bent down to scoop the man's dead weight into his arms and unceremoniously dumped him into the trunk, muffling his groans and screams as he slammed the trunk shut.

He drowned out the mans screams as he turned the music up in the car, much like he’d done to Peter days ago. Thinking back to having Peter in his trunk where he’d kept most of his targets made his stomach twist uncomfortably now and he suddenly regrets being so rough with the boy that first night.

Wade drove into the outskirts of Queens until he was driving a lonesome road, only a few cars here and there passing by this late at night. He came up to a bridge that had about a thirty-foot drop below where water sat at the bottom.

Pulling over, Wade parked the car and rounded it until he was popping open the trunk and Westcott's screams were returning louder than before without the music drowning them out. Wade glared and reached down, grabbing a cloth he’d used for chloroform previously and stuffing it into the man's mouth.

Westcotts eyes were panicked as Wade pulled him from the trunk and over to the concrete railing of the bridge. He sat the man on the ledge like one would a child and stepped back, hands reaching into his pocket for his gun. Westcott stared at him like a deer in headlights as Wade cocked the gun and raised it.

Five shots rang out, echoing in the distance as they buried themselves in the other man's chest and sent him toppling backward, flipping until he was smacking the water like concrete. Wade stared down over the ledge, watching as the bubbles slowly diminished, leaving rippling water behind.

Wade walked away after that and felt as if he’d cut the final string.

When Peter woke up it was almost sun set the next day. He groaned as he stretched in his bed before pausing once he realized he was in his own bed. He sat up and winced at the ache he felt down there as he did.

As he looked around his room, golden sunlight creeping through the curtains, he felt achingly alone. He knew somehow that Wade wasn’t in the apartment, it lacked the noise Wade always seemed to bring with him that Peter had begun to find comfort in.

Jumping out of his bed, Peter rushed over to his dresser and pulled on a fresh pair of boxers and sweatpants, walking out into the livingroom and searching for his phone frantically, as if expecting to see a message from Wade despite never giving him his phone number. But as he found his phone sitting on the coffee table, his eyes slid over to the note sitting beside it.

As he picked it up, he read the cursive writing that read; Petey. Sorry I had to slip out without saying goodbye, got some shit I gotta deal with and I didn’t want to wake you. Thank you for seeing past the rough exterior and giving me a chance. I shouldn’t have involved you in all of this to begin with but for what it’s worth, I’m glad it was you. Goodbye, baby boy.

Peter’s eyes skimmed over the note over and over again, his breaths picking up as he chewed his lip, scrunching the note in his hand.

“Fuck that.” Peter said through gritted teeth before he was grabbing his house keys, wallet, and phone, slipping them into his back pocket and leaving his apartment.

He waved down the first taxi he saw, quickly sliding into the backseat.

“Sister Margaret’s, please.” Peter quickly told the driver. The man gave him a look through the rearview mirror.

“You sure that’s where you wanna go, kid?” The man questioned skeptically. Peter bit back an annoyed huff and simply nodded. The man shrugged and pulled out onto the road again.

Peter absentmindedly scrolled through his notifications, reading the panicked messages from his co workers, specifically Holly asking if he was okay and telling him she covered his shifts for him so he better call her as soon as he sees her messages.

Less than an hour later the man was pulling into the driveway of Sister Margaret’s. Peter was quick to pull the cash from his pocket and hand it to the man, jumping out of the car before he could get the change.

Marching right up to the doors, Peter grabbed the handle and pulled it open, slipping past passing people as he walked further into the bar, eyes instantly seeking out the bartender he’d seen last night.

Walking up to the bar, Peter’s eyes scanned the bartender's face only to realize it wasn’t the man Wade had talked to before, Weasel.

“Excuse me!” Peter called out and the bartender did a double take before walking over to Peter.

“What can I get for ya? If you have an ID of course.” The bartender smirked and Peter glared at him, shaking his head.

“Where can I find Weasel?” He questioned and the other man huffed a laugh.

“Why? Ya tryna hire? What’s the job?” The man humoured and Peter’s patience was running thin.

“Finding Wade Wilson. Now give me Weasel’s address.” Peter glared. Someone to Peter’s left whistled and laughed at that.

“What’re you doing tying yourself up with that nut job, gorgeous? Doesn’t seem like your scene.” A gruff ratty man to his right said and Peter narrowed his eyes at the man.

“And what? You are?” He challenged and the man shrugged, smirking.

“Never know til you try.” He said, standing up now and crowding into Peter’s space. Peter narrowed his eyes up at him challengingly before he was raising a knee and landing it between the man’s legs, sending him crumpling to the ground.

He turned back to the bartender with a huff.

“The police are looking for me and currently tracking my phone. If you don’t give me Weasel's address right now then I’m going to plant my ass in this seat and wait until the cops show up and bust your little illegal merc business you got goin on here.” Peter lied to him, eyes hard, demanding.

The bartender paused polishing the glass he held in his hand, contemplating his options before sighing and giving in.

Peter was back on the street once again, luckily Weasel's apartment wasn’t far, only a ten minute walk from Sister Margaret’s.

As he approached the building, he recognized it from before when Wade had taken his phone inside and Peter had escaped the car. Only this time he wasn’t running away, Wade was the one running. Pulling open the front door to the apartment, Peter stared at the buzzers before pressing the one he remember’s watching Wade press, it rang for a moment before a nasally voice was answering.

“Uh, hello?” the man said and in the background he could hear a whispered hiss that sounded suspiciously like Wade.

“Let me in, Weasel.” Peter demanded and there was a silence.

“Uhh, Wade’s not here if that’s who you’re looking for.” He said after a moment and Peter deadpanned, obviously the man knew it was a pathetic attempt as well before Peter was shaking his head.

“Let me in.” Peter repeated and there was a cut off on the other line before a buzzer was going off and the door was unlocking. Peter didn’t waste a second before he was pulling open the door and making his way up the stairs to the third floor.

Peter knew that Wade wouldn’t be dumb enough to go back to his own apartment. Peter knew where that was now and he doubted he thought Peter would’ve thought to find Weasel.

Stomping over to the apartment door, Peter raised a fist and began banging on it, probably waking the older neighbours who’d turned in hours ago for the night but not caring. Suddenly, the door was swinging open and Weasel was standing between him and the rest of the apartment, his body blocking any view from inside.

“Can I help you?” he cleared his throat awkwardly and Peter simply pushed past him, ignoring his protests as he walked into the apartment. He instantly spotted Wade standing like a deer in headlights in the kitchen, his face stricken as he saw Peter round the corner.

“So you left? Just like that? After everything?” Peter said, stopping. Wade looked guilty, conflicting emotions in his eyes as he opened his mouth before it fell shut again.

“You don’t deserve this life, Petey.” Was all he could say and Peter huffed an incredulous laugh.

“And you do? You said before that normalcy was nice. Maybe it’s you that doesn’t deserve this lifestyle but you’re not used to anything else so you’re scared to leave it behind.” Peter countered, giving Wade a look. “I didn’t run from those cops for nothing, Wade. I’m already in deep because I care about you.” he told him and Wade’s eyes fell, avoiding Peter’s as he shuffled.

“You shouldn’t.” He said.

“I’m done running, Wade. You can’t start now, not when I’m not going anywhere anymore, not after everything. So you can either come home, forget about the whole who deserves what shit and just give normalcy a chance for once, or you can keep running.” Peter told him before stepping back.

“You know where to find me, Wade. And I really hope you do.” Was the last thing he said before turning on his heel and pushing past Weasel out of the door once again, leaving Wade staring after him from the kitchen.

Two days had gone by, Peter had fallen back in this own normalcy and it almost wasn’t enough anymore. It was quiet without Wade, lonely. When he slept at night he cuddled his pillow to his chest just to he could feel like he wasn’t alone.

Holly had covered Peter’s ass for him an insane amount and somehow he’d managed to keep his job after explaining some elaborate lie to his managers about some ‘traumatic personal shit’ and expressing how sorry he was for going radio silent. he swore that it wouldn’t happen again and the managers– who were very understanding– luckily let him keep his job.

He’d yet to visit May because he didn’t want to have to look her in the eye and tell her that he and Wade were over when she would ask him about the other man, which he knows she would.

“Have a great night,” Peter said kindly as he handed the coffee over to the last customer of the night. The customer returned the gesture before turning and leaving, leaving behind an empty cafe. Peter rubbed his eyes tiredly and walked over to the door, locking it and flipping the open sign to closed.

He shuffled around the cafe, restocking and finishing up his closing duties, almost half expecting Wade to show up just like he had that night, hoodie drawn up and scouting out a target while he sipped at his coffee, but he didn’t, and the door remained locked.

Once he’d closed the registers, Peter flicked off the lights and grabbed his bag, throwing it over his shoulder as he walked to the back door, keys jangling in his hands as he did.

Pushing the door open, Peter turned around and locked it shut behind him. Just as he turned to begin his walk to the bus stop, he spotted a figure hidden in the shadows of the alleyway. Freezing, Peter’s breath stuttered to a stop in his chest as he watched the shadow step forward.

“You gonna run again? Because I really don’t wanna have to put you back in my trunk again, baby boy.” the man said as as soon as the words left his mouth Peter was dropping his bag and running forward, Wade catching him and their lips smashing together.

This time Peter was the one to kiss Wade like he was starving, legs wrapped around his waist and arms around his neck. And as Wade returned the kiss, his hands warm and secure beneath Peter, squeezing his sides and hips, Peter knew that they were both done running.

And in the exact same spot they met that first time, they left hand in hand.
