Work Text:

Ding. Kuroo picked his phone up from the bedside table.

dumb lizard, 11:44 PM
are you free right now?

He raised a brow at the message and its connotation.

annoying kittycat, 11:45 PM
wow
months of radio silence and now you decide to text me?
the fuck happened

annoying kitty cat, 11:52 PM
did Mika dump you?

dumb lizard, 11:59 PM
are you gonna answer the question?

Kuroo raised a brow at the dodge of his teasing. Daishou never does that. Was he right?

annoying kittycat, 00:02 AM
come over

Friday night, or rather Saturday, just past midnight and Kuroo was stumped. What was it with the text? Their last conversation was three months ago. After that, there had been complete radio silence between them.

Kuroo knows how long it takes Daishou to get to his place. So when he knew the other should be getting closer, he snuck out of his room and waited in behind his apartment door.
When he heard a shy but insistent knock on it, he opened it.

Daishou stormed inside, immediately heading for Kuroo's room. The black-haired was confused yet again and just decided to follow the smaller brunette, wordlessly.
Inside the bedroom, Daishou threw the bag he was carrying to the ground, closed the door, locked it, and then attacked Kuroo, kissing him breathless while shoving him to sit on the bed. The Nekoma captain was overwhelmed when they separated.

"Whoa..."

Daishou just stared him down while straddling his lap, his breath heaving through his chest and out his nose shakily. His face was a mix of frustration and sadness, and his eyes were clearly puffy and red from crying.

Kuroo realized what was going on and spoke up. "Was I-?"

"Right." Daishou finished the sentence for him and sighed, angrily staring at the black-haired as his vision blurred and tears flooded his pretty russian green eyes.

"I just-"

"Need to get your mind off it." It was Kuroo's turn to complete the thought, nodding in understanding.

Their faces crashed together once more, Daishou whimpering when Kuroo matched his pace, his eagerness, his anger, and the tears were forgotten.

"Give me-" He breathed out a moan. "All you've got."

"I need it. I need this. I need you."

Kuroo responded with a guttural moan of his own, breathing heavily right against the other's lips and turning his head upwards.

"Fuck..." He whispered. "You're so intense."

His heart thundered in his chest and he wondered if Daishou's did too. Reaching out to touch his chest, he felt the muscle hammering under his fingertips.

"Suguru." He breathed out.

"Tetsurou." The other returned, tears dwelling in his eyes again.

Kuroo panicked. "Oh no, no, no..! Shh, shh... come here..." He cooed, embracing the other in a hug. "Let me kiss it better."

Daishou agreed with a nod as Kuroo connected their lips again. Kissing him was nothing new between them, but the execution was different. Kuroo was gentle, worrying his tongue over the other's bitten lips and stroking it against every surface he could reach while cradling the other's face in his hands.

"Didn't know you could be this gentle.." Daishou was unable to hide a small smile when they separated, immediately easing Kuroo's worries.

"Oh I can be a lot more, you know." He responded, moving his palms up and down under his shirt. The shy giggle it earned him was worth the corny comment. "How about we take things a bit more slowly, yeah?” His hands rested softly on the other's waist, rubbing ever so careful circles with his thumbs.

Daishou nodded, sniffling quietly. They laid down, tangling their legs together.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Kuroo mumbled into his hair, his long middle blocker fingers caressing the smaller one's sides once more.

“No…” He shook his head as much as he could while being half buried beneath Kuroo's seemingly giant frame and stuck face first in his pecs.
“Can I touch you too?” Daishou asked after a moment of silence. Kuroo felt the other's voice vibrate against his chest, timid but wanting. When has it not been? He had trouble remembering a time where their encounters didn't end in a hook-up. Not even their first meeting was exempt.

“Of course.” He responded. Daishou's ice cold hands snuck under the black-haired's shirt, making him hiss, and shiver. “Cold…” He croaked out, not sure if whatever ledge he was balancing on leaned more towards hate or love.

“Sorry… Was a long way here. Had to walk.” The smaller one explained.

“Wait a second-,” Kuroo stopped moving and subsequently did Daishou. “You walked all the way here??” He whispered with concerned urgency underlining his voice.

“Yeah, I uh, might have missed the last train and so I started walking and … texted you halfway.” He was strictly avoiding any and all eye contact. “I guess I just ... hoped you'd say yes.”

Kuroo felt like he was getting his chest ripped open by some demon, bee-lining for his heart. Sure, Daishou could do very well without his pity, but his honesty made him rethink some of the more snappish and sour remarks he had made in the past with how gentle and not careless he was presenting himself right now.

Daishou moved a couple of centimetres back to analyze the look on the other's face. And he felt like sobbing again. “Don't … look at me like that.” He broke the gaze that was eating him alive.

Words were usually Kuroo's strength, talking people into the most insane ideas or convincing them of whatever nonsense was on his mind at the moment. However, now… he let his mouth do the talking without any sounds at all.

The brunette yelped in surprise, but easily tangled himself into the apologetic net of feelings that was the other's mouth. It wrapped itself around his tongue and fell feather-light down his entire spine, unclenching his tense muscles that stored his sorrow like a bloodbound safe.

Separating again, Kuroo was glad to feel more of a body and less of a statue against him. The chirping of the crickets outside his window was the only sound filling the room for a while until Daishou spoke up again.

“You remember the last time we hooked up?”

“Mhm.” Kuroo hummed in response.

“When you called me … slut,

Kuroo's heart sunk through his body and shattered into a million shards.

“Did you mean it?”

Remembering what he said made him want to rid himself of his tongue and voice. Bite it clean off and choke on the blood and whatever remained. Tear the chords out of his throat and go mute. Daishou had slyly countered in the heat of the moment, but it clearly stuck with him. He counted the weeks it must've plagued his mind and mentally strangled himself again.

His talent to speak turned into the thing that ended up betraying him, constricting his throat like a python sizing up its prey. “I-”

“I never meant any of the things I called you.”

“I say stupid shit all the time and speak without thinking. It's the thing that always ends up getting my ass into deep shit without ever intending to and it’ll probably get me killed some day,” He took a breath. “I went way too far. I'm so sorry, Suguru.”

Daishou looked up at him, seeing the tears crystallizing in the corners of his eyes.

“God, don't look at me like that. You make me want to never speak another word to anyone ever again.” Kuroo avoided his gaze like the plague, turning his head up so far his neck was overstretched and hurting.

A gentle and still cold hand reached for his chin, tilting his head back down.

“We're not good for each other, aren't we?” His eyes filled with liquid feelings once more and blurred his vision. “But you're the only one who understands.” The pitiful yet grateful smile on his face could tear anyone to shreds.

Kuroo hugged him close, letting him sob into his chest as he couldn't stop his own tears anymore as well.

It took what felt like an eternity to return to silence.

“Never thought I'd be crying in your arms out of all people.” Daishou sniffled, giggling just a little. “But I'm kinda glad it was you.” He admitted.

Kuroo’s heart swelled in his chest.

“Can we talk about something else? Any more silence and I think I might die.” The shorter one sighed, still smiling.

“Yeah, no problem.” The black-haired nodded softly. “Do you have any plans once you're done with school?”

“I definitely want to continue with volleyball. I really want to go pro.” Daishou confessed. “Family is making me go to uni but at least I get to continue playing there.”

“Not a bad plan. I'm going to uni too. Got accepted by The Tokyo Institute of Technology.” He explained.
“That's impressive. I'll be going to the University of Tokyo.” Daishou replied.

“Talk about impressive.” Kuroo scoffed, chuckling afterwards.

“What's your favorite color?” The question caught the taller one a bit off guard.

“Red. Yours?”

“Pale green.”

The pale green Kuroo pictured felt fragile, as though it could shatter under the weight of a single glance.

“Do you have any phobias?” The black-haired continued their back and forth.

“Globophobia. I can't stand balloons.” Daishou shivered just at the thought of them. “It's silly, I know.”

“I don't think so. I'm afraid of the ocean. Thalassophobia.” Kuroo countered with his own fear.

The silence between them wasn't so bad now and they wrapped closer into each other's arms again. Kuroo was the one to speak up first this time.

“The bag you brought..,” His gaze found the dark green trainer bag on the floor. “Toothbrush and a change of clothes?” He rather stated than asked, pretty sure of his guess either way.

“Yeah. I uh… had hoped I could stay on your couch?” Daishou looked up at him through his eyelashes.

“That depends on what kinda clothes you brought.” Kuroo conditioned.

“Well, I brought a t-shirt… and my toothbrush.” The smaller one listed.

“Yeah that's not gonna work. It gets ridiculously cold in our living room.” The black-haired shook his head.

“I- It’s okay I can walk back home.” Daishou concluded.

“No.” Kuroo immediately protested, pulling him closer, mumbling into his hair. “No way in hell am I letting you walk all the way back in freezing cold weather, especially when you didn't even bring a jacket.”

The brunette first noticed his heart pick up in his chest and then the other's heartbeat thrumming comfortingly in his face.

“You can wear some of my clothes, and stay with me.” Kuroo stated.

“It's fine, really. I can still-”

“You're staying.”

“But-”

Kuroo kissed him to shut him up. “Stay.” He whispered, repeating his point.

“Let's go get ready for bed then, it's already two a.m.” Daishou agreed, knowing he couldn't fight the other's decision.

Both of them hesitated for a second to untangle their hug, but they eventually did, getting up. “Go ahead first. I'll try to find something to wear for you in the meantime.” The black-haired walked to his closet as the smaller one nodded and took up the offer, disappearing in the bathroom with his bag.

Kuroo went through his clothes and settled on an oversized, and washed-out grey t-shirt made of a very thick fabric, and a pair of white sweatpants he stopped wearing years ago because they don't fit him comfortably anymore, but they should look g- fit Daishou well.

He made his way to the bathroom door and knocked carefully. When he got the okay, he opened the door just a little and handed the clothes to the other captain. Shortly after, he withdrew his hand again and waited for him to return from the bathroom.

The door opened and Daishou was indeed wearing his clothes, quite frankly drowning in them. The seams of the shirt went way past his shoulders and his guess about the sweatpants proved itself true as well.

Kuroo was dumbfounded for a moment, staring at him with his mouth slightly agape. His brain short-circuited and left him stranded there. Daishou held his gaze before breaking it and smiling a little wonkily, unable to process the weird flow of his emotions between shyness and pity.

He walked past Kuroo and got his phone out of his bag, busying himself with that for a moment and giving Kuroo a chance to snap out of it and disappear in the bathroom.

Staring at himself in the mirror, hair disheveled from cuddling, he took a deep breath and focused on brushing his teeth. Why the hell did he just freeze? Suguru was just wearing his clothes. When did he start calling him Suguru?? He leaned against the washbasin and let his head thunk against the mirror. The fuck were they doing here?

He stumbled back out to find the man in his bed.

Daishou was right earlier. They're not good for each other but somehow always end up in one another's arms again. If he’s the air filling his lungs and leaving him gasping for breath at the same time then so be it.

If he’s the poison and the antidote, so be it.

If he's the weapon and the shield, so be it.

If he's the pain and the pleasure, so be it.

If he's the sin and the salvation, so be it.

Kuroo stepped to his side of the bed and laid down, reaching for Daishou and wrapping him in his arms.

So be it.

“You okay?” Suguru asked.

Tetsurou hummed in response.

“You kinda zoned out there earlier, are you one hundred percent sure? We’ve been nothing but honest all night. You can say it.” He reassured him.

“I don't know,” He murmured. “I'm not sure what I’m feeling right now. I think if I let you go I'll shatter.”

Daishou just nodded, holding him tighter and being held tighter in return. At some point Kuroo groaned, burying his face in the other's neck. He breathed in his scent. His and his own because of the shirt. Biting his lip to choke back any noise resulted in a breathy sigh dancing down Daishou's neck and beneath his skin.

The black-haired shivered, holding back the boulder of want sitting on his chest.

Tetsurou,” He whispered. “Don't bottle it up.” His hand smoothed over his chest, piece by piece, cracking the sediment that was embedded within him.

“Whatever it is, you can say it.” He clarified.

“You smell like me, because of the shirt and pants.” Kuroo grumbled deep in his chest. “Driving me mad…”

“Why don't you touch me?” Daishou wondered.

“I don't want to do anything you don't want. With the way you came to me earlier I don't think it's appropriate.” Kuroo spoke through gritted teeth. He knew how shitty Daishou felt. Preying on him felt like taking advantage of him. He wasn't that type of man and never will be.

“I was the one who came here.” The brunette reasoned with him.

“Still. It'd feel wrong…” The black-haired sighed. “Don't worry about it. I'm pretty beat up anyways so I'll fall asleep soon.”

It was Suguru's turn to kiss him quiet and stop his rambling.
“We don't have to do much. Just… a little.” He pondered for a moment on whether to say the next thing on his mind or not.

“Fuck away my pain, Tetsu?”

Kuroo stared at him wide-eyed.

“Just a little.” Daishou repeated.

The black-haired doubted his sanity for a moment. He grabbed the other's chin, tilting his head upwards.

“You're really something else.” He whispered, kissing him softly. “Okay. Just a little.” He reiterated.

Their lips met again, both smiling into each other and tangling one another in a lazy and comfortable make-out session. Daishou's now warm hands roamed Kuroo's body and no longer salty lips tasted much sweeter than before. Especially after Kuroo discovered about twenty seconds ago that Daishou uses lime flavored toothpaste. “Mmh… sour.” He mumbled.

The other chuckled. “Just like your attitude.” He teased, but with no real bite behind it.

Kuroo scoffed amusedly at the comment. “ Suits you just as well.” He returned.

Pulling out of their kiss, the black-haired placed his head back into the crook of Daishou's neck, inhaling their mixed scents. His jaw muscles felt like they were swelling up to force him to open his mouth again.

The other captain felt him hesitate again. “Go on.” He whispered into his ear.

“I..” Kuroo gulped. “I wanna bite you.”

Daishou wordlessly stretched himself to expose more of his neck.

Kuroo opened his mouth, saliva gathering on his tongue as he latched onto the skin he was offered and closed his teeth around it. Not inherently harsh, but enough to leave a mark and send a full body shiver through Daishou, making him yearn for more of that sweet, sweet pain.

He let out the most gratifying, honey-saccharine whine, spurring the taller one on to do more.

The black-haired locked his jaw a little harder, earning him a choked moan in response before releasing him and instead kitten-licking at the imprint of his teeth.

“Like a true kitty.” Daishou teased him.

Kuroo groaned, tempted to bite him again and make him pay, but that giant ring of teeth he'd left behind was already hard enough to hide.

“Why don't you act like a true snake then?” He taunted instead, grinding his hips into him.

Suguru inhaled his own voice to stay quiet. “Fine.” He snarled with a smirk on his face. Shuffling downwards, he stuck out his tongue and licked a stripe up the other's throat. Meeting the other face-to-face, he took his bottom lip between his teeth, drawing blood from it.

They both tasted iron, Kuroo groaning at the pulsing feeling of the wound. Daishou pulled back, showing off the deep red liquid on his tongue like a prize.

Kuroo scoffed, pulling him for yet another deep kiss. His hand slipped into Daishou's - his - sweatpants and beneath his boxers, wrapping his hand around the other's hard cock.

Suguru hissed, arching into the touch. “Mh… Tetsurou” He purred.

The black-haired was reminded of his own erection when the little moan sent a new wave of lust licking down his spine. In acknowledgment of his gesture, Daishou also slipped one of his hands into Kuroo's boxers, returning the favor.

They found each other's rhythms quickly, knowing each other like they know themselves. Only the cacophony of their muffled moans sounded in their ears, so focused on one another, they couldn't focus on anything else.

Kuroo was bucking his hips in time with the other's hand movements, getting closer much faster than usual. He bit his lip, whining through his teeth. “Fuck… ‘m close…”
Daishou wearing his clothes was driving him insane.

“Mhm..,” Suguru let out a high-pitched whimper. “Me too.”

Tetsurou slotted their faces together to muffle both himself and the other. Daishou knew how to get the black-haired to the edge in minutes. Taking a moment to breathe, the shorter one used his free hand to clasp it over Kuroo's mouth. The taller one's eyes widened in surprise, trying to fight out of his grip, but it was over for him when Daishou twisted his hand on an upward stroke, catapulting him over the edge.

Kuroo's eyes rolled to the back of his head as he panted out his orgasm behind the other's hand. Thick ropes of cum dripped down his length, providing a smoother glide as Daishou milked every last drop out of him.

“Off… off…” He tapped the hand that was stroking him, bordering a second, dry orgasm.

“But you're throbbing so much… c'mon Tetsu, give me another.” Daishou spurred him on, not stopping his hand despite the other's pleas.

“G-gonna…nh-!” His hands have found the sheets below and pillow above him, gripping them so hard his knuckles turned white.

As expected, a second wave hit him, making him see stars behind his eyelids and letting the slick noise of Daishou's hand fade into deafening white noise. He was floating somewhere between the nirvana and passing out when the hand around his dick finally let go and he could breathe.

He caught his breath, one inhale and exhale at a time. “Damn… I- … have no words.”

“In a good or a bad way?” Daishou giggled.

Kuroo chuckled breathlessly, unable to hide a smile. “A good way.”

“Now, I recall you saying you were..,” He wrapped his hand back around the other's stiff cock. “Close?”

Suguru sucked a breath of air through his teeth. “I presume so.”

Tetsurou picked up the same pace as before, closing his fist tighter around the tip with each stroke. The other one hiccuped something between a moan and a gasp, desperately digging his fingers into Kuroo's waist.

His body twitched, holding back the noises to the best of his abilities. “Mh- you're ah-! a demon…” He cursed at him through gritted teeth.

“If I'm a demon then you're the devil.” Kuroo countered, stroking him over the edge.

Daishou clung to him, eyes screwed shut and panting against the skin of his neck. In one last attempt to return the teasing, he nipped at his throat, earning him a groan. His orgasm faded and the room returned back to normal.

It was quiet for a minute or two, just their laboured breathing bouncing off the walls that contained them.

“Messy hands.” The black-haired commented.

“Mhm, same.” The other responded groggily.

Kuroo stretched over to his nightstand and grabbed a wet wipe, cleaning their fingers, but not before suggestively licking his own. Daishou chuckled, weakly hitting his shoulder.

“You'll never change, huh?”

“Would you want that?”

“Never.”
