Chapter Text
There was once a figure the people called Darkblade.
A tyrant who had usurped the throne from the previous monarch, executing both the monarch and the heirs. All in an effort to start and maintain his own rule, by eliminating anyone who could become a figurehead against him. Ruling the land with an iron fist, Neither peasant, nor noble was safe from being attained or executed.
Though he should have realised not all tyrants last that long.
It didn’t take all that long for the people to grow angry with him. It was an inevitability really that a rebellion against him would happen. A rebellion from which he would not be safe.
He tried to hide inside his castle walls. A futile effort indeed, despite the powers he had been blessed with. The masses broke down the doors and stormed in, ready to take his head as vengeance for years of suffering. The charge caught Darkblade by surprise, finally capturing him after so long.
He spent a few days locked away in jail while they were preparing his execution. And upon the church bells chimes those few days later, he was brought out to the chopping block. His head chopped off with the singular blow of an axe.
So with much relief the people of France were finally free from the tyrant known as Darkblade.
There was only one small problem left to resolve.
For Darkblade had no heir. This left the question of who should rule over the mighty kingdom of France. Maintain the empire that Darkblade had built. The kingdom was determined to see less bloodshed than there had been in the years prior.
There were a few main candidates for who could become the next monarch.
Lord Gabriel Agreste:
One of the men involved in the charge. He had previously been a Duke before Darkblade had attained him of his lands, leaving him as a Lord. Quite a cold, reserved man, he had an aptitude for politics.
However his wife, Lady Emelie Agreste was growing ill. So he declined the title of monarch, to care for the wife he loved so much.
Tomoe Tsuguri:
She had been invaluable in helping to bring down the tyrant. Her knowledge and skill with weapons, as she was a fencer, had been incredibly useful in bringing down the tyrant.
However her vision was beginning to fail and so turned down the position of monarch to focus on her fencing career.
Colt Graham De Vanily:
A man of great courage, Colt had helped to stir up the common people and inspire them to charge forward to
However he declined the position of monarch to get married to an English noblewoman who had taken his fancy. One Lady Amelie Graham De Vanily, twin sister to Emelie Graham
This meant that out of the four main nobles that helped to take down the figure known as Darkblade. Only one remained to take the position of monarch.
And so with great reluctance, Cardinal Andre Bourgeois was to be the next monarch, to lead the kingdom of France forward to the next era.
The golden crown was placed upon his head only five days after Darkblade’s execution. And as it did so, the kingdom bowed to their new king.
