Work Text:
The creature seemed to be made of fancily-trimmed red fabric and carved wood. Well within the norms of the Labyrinth, although Ambrosius had not seen its like before.
The greeting was a nod with one gold tassel, an opposite-end tassel waving in what Ambrosius decided was a friendly fashion. Ambrosius offered a bow and a bark. The creature danced a few steps to one side, then back.
Tassel-tail and long-furred rump both wagged.
A romp took them close to a prettily glinting lake, which Ambrosius was wary of, but the muddy shore extended enough that they could play without stepping into the water.
Ambrosius gave his new friend's smooth paws an envious look. Mud would wipe right off those. Ambrosius would have to suffer being given a bath to get the mud out of his abundant fur.
So he might as well continue the games in the mud for longer.
