She looked at his face, it was glowing in the dim glow of the Sun’s final rays
The sunset was beautiful, an orange hue smeared across with white clouds decorating the sky
It would’ve been a perfect time for a couple to confess to each other
Just like the movies
It would’ve been..
If her love was reciprocated
She knew he didn’t like her back
She always knew
Still..
Why did it have to hurt like that?
Like an arrow piercing through her heart
She wanted to hold her chest and cry out to the gods
She didn’t choose to like him this much
She didn’t want this..
It wasn’t her fault he seemed so perfect
And so they stood in the silence, unspoken feelings hanging in the air
Tears started to prick her eyes
“I should really get going by now” she said avoiding his gaze
Though she couldn’t resist catching a glimpse, his caramel hair shone and his eyes held a worried look
“I-I’m sorry” was what he managed to slip out
“Don’t worry about it..” She said hurrying out
All he could do was stare at her leaving..
Hot tears started to stream down her face and she made no effort to cover it up
Her heart caught in her throat and she tried to breathe properly
Why was she feeling this way?
It was annoying.. she was mad at herself
Crying over a boy was the last thing she thought she would do
She felt betrayed..
She knew every story didn’t have a happy ending..
But everyone else’s seemed to have one..
Instead she was faced with the opposite
Why her?
And still the image of his soft, carefree smile lingered in her thoughts
She wiped her tears but they didn’t seem to stop
She looked down, the blurry image settling in to reveal her coat and shirt stained with tears of unrequited love
It wasn’t her fault she went and stupidly fell in love
It wasn’t her fault the most perfect boy decided to enter her life
It was almost evening and only fragments of the Sun’s rays were left
The orange hue disappeared and a black void started to fill the sky
The full moon started to shine in the now-night
It would’ve been a perfect place for a couple to confess
It would’ve been..
If her love was reciprocated…
