Friends Divided

Summary:

Missing scene from Series 1 Episode 6 Monkey Business, explaining why Mildred and Maud appeared not to be friends with Ruby and Jadu at this time.

Notes:

This came about because Enid's first two episodes always felt strange to me as Mildred and Maud are arguing over Enid but when Maud starts hanging with Ethel and Drusilla she says there is no-one else, even though both Maud and Mildred have a established friendship with Ruby and Jadu at this time and they are all in the same group. I feel odd it is never explained why Maud couldn't stick by them during this time, so this is a missing moment I feel is needed to make sense as to why.

Friends Divided

Mildred chased after Enid who had ran off again when she heard her name being called from behind her. Turning around she came face to face with her friends Ruby Cherrytree and Jadu Wali.

"Mildred can we have a word?" Jadu asked.

Mildred nodded but looked behind them distracted as she did so, looking for any sign of Enid.

"Maud is really upset" Ruby said starting the conversation. Mildred sighed deeply.

"It's not my fault, Cackle and HB made me look after Enid, I didn't choose to do it" Mildred replied.

"Yes but she has already gotten you into trouble, go tell Miss Cackle what's happened before she lands you in big trouble" Jadu suggested.

"I can't, HB would never let me me do that and blame me" Mildred replied.

At that moment Maud appeared and seeing her friends she walked to them, but she was already wound up.

"She won't listen to reason I tried" Maud told the others.

"I told you, you can come with me and Enid!" Mildred replied, growing annoyed herself.

"Why would I want to be friends with someone who lands me in trouble on purpose?" Maud responded, stepping closer as they argued.

"I am not thrilled either, but I didn't ditch you, stop blaming me!" Mildred responded.

"Then go tell Cackle, HB will listen if Cackle is there" Maud responded, her voice softening, as she sadly spoke to her friend.

"I can't!" I can't let them know I have failed at the simple task of looking after someone already" Mildred responded.

Back and forth the best friends argued for a few minutes until Jadu finally managed to shout loud enough to stop them.

"We can't deal with this, we are not getting involved" Jadu told them.

"Yes, and we aren't picking sides, school is hard enough without hearing you two shouting at each other the whole day" Ruby said.

"Yes...we are still friends but until this is sorted out...it's probably best we don't hang around together for the time being" Jadu told them.

"Yes, sorry but I can't stand you two like this" Ruby said.

"We will see you around" Jadu said looking at Ruby as they both left. Enid appeared behind Mildred. Maud took one look at her and stormed off. Mildred sighed. Her chest hurting, the first year felt like crying. In two days she had managed to lose all three of her friends, all because of Enid.
