Work Text:
Morrigan Crow is facing a dilemma.
A dilemma that some might consider trivial, irrelevant, and childish.
However, to the young Wundersmith, it was not a dilemma that was trivial, irrelevant nor childish. Not to her at least.
There, on the store front, sat a pair of stuffed rabbits, one with bright orange fur with two black glass eyes and the other with coal black fur and yellow glass eyes. Their ears were floppy and their stuffed paws bound together with faux gold ribbon. The stuffed pair were similar to her own stuffed rabbit Emmett, (and two certain individuals named Jupiter and Ezra but that was neither here or there)
They were perfect
The only problem is that they were limited edition, and cost around 1,500 kred, which was most of what remained of her monthly allowance.
Ever since she had turned 15 (“The glorious age of teenage rebellion” Jupiter had dramatically sighed, and in her opinion, she had already started this “rebellion phase” when she decided to trust a ginger madman and jumped off a roof with him) she had received her monthly allowance of 5,000 kred, to spend on whatever she wanted. Morrigan usually used it for materials for her projects in Wunsoc, anything she needed for her wundersmith-ing lessons from the Commissariat, et cetera, et cetera. Not really the point. The point was that she was down to 2,000 kred and she still had a lot of things to buy or commission.
But the stuffed rabbits were just so cute and perfect, how is she just supposed to leave them there?!
Ugh..
On one hand, she could just come back for them another time or when they restocked the damn cuties.
Or…
“What’s that?” Jack asked, pointing to the paper bag in her arms as her skipped through the Hotel Deucalion’s front doors and past the concierge desk where the younger Witness was leaning against, a half-eaten donut in his hands. “Nothinggggg” she sing-songed in reply, skipping up the steps of the spiral staircase up to her beloved Room 085.
Flopping down on her octopus-shaped bed (seriously what is it with her room and cephalopods?) she gazed at her new jellyfish chandelier (ok is her room an aquarium now or what?). A large gleeful, if a bit manic, smile stretched on her face as she reached inside the paper bag and pulled out the stuffed rabbits, placing them on each side of her lovely Emmett, making them look like a small family. Their names were now Orson, which was the orange rabbit, whom she dressed a bright purple coat with many many pockets, a pink waistcoat and a lime green top hat. And Alejandro, which she dressed with a smart gray waistcoat, a crisp white dress shirt and a shimmery bowtie.
Best decision ever.
(And if Ezra Squall visited his apprentice’s room and managed to see the resemblance between the stuffed toys and the Witness and him, then proceeding to leave with a flushed face and a warmer heart, that’s his business and none of yours)
