No Way!

Summary:

An alien tried to take her away from her but she won't allow it.

Chapter Text

Lena Luthor had just finished a long day at L-Corp. The lights in her penthouse were dim, and the city of National City glimmered below. Her high heels clicked against the marble floor as she crossed the spacious living room, heading toward her sleek bar for a glass of wine. The weight of the day clung to her shoulders—mergers, meetings, and more bureaucratic nonsense than she cared to think about. It was quiet, the kind of quiet Lena rarely allowed herself, a moment to unwind, to be still, to stop thinking.

Suddenly, the stillness shattered.

The air crackled, and the soft hum of electronics around her surged into a cacophony of whirs and beeps. Before Lena could react, a blinding light engulfed the room, swallowing the modern architecture of her penthouse whole. She instinctively shielded her eyes, staggering backward, her heart leaping into her throat.

As the light receded, Lena found herself staring at a towering figure standing in the center of her living room. He was tall—well over seven feet—with a physique that seemed sculpted from granite. His skin had a metallic sheen, tinted a shade of dark silver that almost seemed to ripple in the low light. His sharp, angular face was framed by jet-black hair that fell to his shoulders, and his piercing blue eyes glowed faintly, as though charged with some otherworldly energy. He was, without a doubt, handsome, but there was a predatory intensity in his gaze that sent a shiver down Lena's spine.

"Who the hell are you?" Lena demanded, her voice icy, though her pulse quickened with apprehension.

The alien didn’t respond immediately. He stepped forward, the sound of his heavy boots echoing ominously against the floor. His gaze remained fixed on her, as though he was appraising something of immense value. His lips finally curled into a smirk, one that did nothing to soothe Lena's growing unease.

“I am Vorkar of the planet Ortxas,” the alien announced, his deep voice resonating with an unnerving calm. “I have traveled across galaxies in search of a worthy bride, and my search ends here, with you.”

Lena’s brows shot up. “Excuse me? You’ve got to be joking.”

Vorkar’s expression darkened slightly, though there was still an unsettling calmness in his demeanor. “You will be my wife, Lena Luthor,” he continued, as though his declaration alone made it true. “Together, we shall rule my empire, and you will bear my legacy.”

Lena took a step back, her mind racing. She had dealt with power-hungry lunatics before—Lex had certainly set the bar high in that regard—but this? This was next-level insane. She quickly considered her options: no one knew where she was at the moment, and she wasn’t exactly in a position to call for help. But there was one name that came to mind—a name she hoped would make this lunatic back off.

“I’m not interested,” Lena said firmly, narrowing her eyes. “I already have someone.”

Vorkar's expression faltered slightly, his intense gaze flickering with curiosity. “Who?”

Lena hesitated for a fraction of a second. Who could she name? She was, unfortunately, very much single at the moment. Her social life was virtually non-existent, and there wasn’t anyone she could realistically claim as a partner. Except... Kara.

The name burst into her mind with startling clarity. Kara Zor-El. Supergirl.

She didn’t even fully process why she said it. Maybe it was because Kara was the first person she thought of in stressful situations. Maybe it was because Kara had saved her countless times before, and in a moment like this, Lena’s instincts reached for the familiar. Whatever the reason, the words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop them.

“Kara Zor-El,” Lena said, folding her arms and lifting her chin, feigning more confidence than she felt. “Supergirl.”

Vorkar’s face twisted into something dark and dangerous, his eyes narrowing as he studied her.

“Zor-El…” he hissed, tasting the name as though it were venomous. His expression shifted, and he let out a low, humorless laugh that reverberated through the room. “Supergirl is no match for me. I will find this Zor-El and dispose of her like the insect she is. Then you will have no one to hide behind, Lena Luthor.”

Lena’s stomach twisted. She had to keep her expression neutral, but the threat in his voice was unmistakable. This was no idle boast. This alien, Vorkar, seemed powerful enough to make good on his promise, and the idea of him going after Kara sent a spike of fear through her. Not for herself—but for Kara.

Kara was strong, yes, but she wasn’t invincible.

“I’d like to see you try,” Lena retorted, her voice sharper now, masking the growing unease in her chest. “Supergirl would rip you apart before you got anywhere near her.”

Vorkar’s eyes gleamed, amused by her defiance. “You think highly of this Zor-El. But it won’t matter. By the time I’m finished with her, she will be nothing more than a memory, and you—” He took another step toward Lena, towering over her now. “You will stand at my side, whether you like it or not. My empire has twenty wives already, and you will be the crown jewel among them.”

Lena’s blood boiled. Twenty wives? The arrogance of this alien was infuriating. He truly believed he could just waltz into her life, claim her like some kind of trophy, and eliminate Kara in the process? Her fists clenched at her sides, but she kept her expression cold, calculating.

“You don’t know me,” Lena said, her voice low and dangerous. “And you clearly don’t know Kara. She’ll kill you if you try anything. But if you think for a second that I’ll ever be one of your wives, you’re more delusional than I thought.”

Vorkar chuckled darkly, clearly unbothered by her words. “You will come to understand, Lena Luthor. In time, all will fall into place.”

With a swift motion, his hand shot out, grabbing her wrist with surprising gentleness despite his strength. Lena tried to jerk her arm back, but his grip was unyielding, his eyes gleaming with determination.

Lena’s mind raced. She needed to stall. She needed time.

“You’re making a mistake,” she said through gritted teeth. “You don’t understand what you’re dealing with.”

Vorkar tilted his head, his eyes still fixed on her. “Oh, I understand perfectly. You, Lena Luthor, are the most brilliant mind on this planet. Together, we will create a future that will rival the stars. Your brilliance will serve my empire, and your beauty—”

“Stop,” Lena snapped, cutting him off and she punched him. “Just stop. This whole... ‘kidnapping bride’ thing? It’s not happening. I’m not some damsel you can sweep off her feet. I don’t care how powerful or handsome you think you are, and I don’t care about your empire or your delusions of grandeur.”

Vorkar’s expression darkened at the words and punch, his grip tightening slightly on her wrist. “You may resist now, but in time, you will understand. Once Zor-El is dead, you will have no choice but to accept your place.”

Lena’s heart pounded in her chest. She had to get out of this, but how? Supergirl could be anywhere in the city, and calling for help wasn’t an option—not with this alien standing right in front of her. But she knew Kara. Kara would be watching over her, somehow, someway.

“Lena!” a voice suddenly echoed through the room.

Vorkar turned just in time to see the familiar red and blue blur crash through the window. Kara—Supergirl—landed with a powerful thud, her cape billowing behind her, her expression fierce.

“You picked the wrong planet,” Kara growled, her eyes blazing with fury as she locked onto Vorkar.

Lena felt a wave of relief wash over her, but it was quickly replaced by a sense of urgency. This wasn’t over yet. Vorkar was strong, and this confrontation was just beginning.

The alien smirked. "Ah, Zor-El. I was wondering when you'd show up."

Lena stepped back, her pulse racing, as the room seemed to electrify with tension. This fight was going to get ugly, and fast.

The crash of glass from the broken window still echoed through the room, shards of glass scattered around Kara’s boots as she stood tall in the dim light of Lena’s penthouse. The air was tense, crackling with energy as the alien—Vorkar—stared down Supergirl with a smirk that sent a chill down Lena’s spine. He was unfazed by Kara’s entrance, his posture radiating confidence, arrogance even, as though he still held the upper hand.

Kara’s eyes narrowed, glowing faintly red, a sign that her heat vision was dangerously close to being unleashed. Her fists clenched at her sides, every muscle in her body taut with restrained fury. She wasn’t just angry—she was protective. Of Lena. Always of Lena.

“You,” Kara growled, taking a step forward, her cape swaying with the movement. “I don’t know who you think you are, but you’re not taking anyone. And you’re certainly not laying a finger on Lena.”

Vorkar turned his icy gaze to Kara, his smirk widening as though amused by her threat. “Ah, Supergirl. I was hoping we would meet under... more civil circumstances. But it seems you’ve made this personal.”

Kara’s brow furrowed, her stance rigid as she glared at him. “What are you talking about?” she demanded, her voice low and dangerous. “You broke into Lena’s home, threatened her, and now you’re talking about taking her against her will. I’d say it’s already pretty damn personal.”

Vorkar tilted his head slightly, eyes glinting in the low light. “Oh, it’s more personal than you think,” he said with an eerie calmness. “You see, Zor-El, I have come to claim what is mine. Lena Luthor will be my bride. She is perfect—her intellect, her beauty. She is more than worthy to join my empire.”

Kara’s jaw clenched, her eyes burning with anger. She took another step closer, her body vibrating with barely contained energy. “She’s not yours. Lena doesn’t belong to anyone,” Kara said through gritted teeth, her voice steely. “Especially not to some power-hungry alien who thinks he can waltz into her life and ‘claim’ her like a possession.”

Vorkar chuckled softly, shaking his head. “You misunderstand, Zor-El. This isn’t a matter of possession. It’s destiny. Lena and I are destined to rule together. She will be my twentieth wife, the crown jewel of my empire.” Kara made a face. What was that bastard?

At that, Lena bristled, stepping forward despite Kara’s protective stance in front of her. “You’re out of your mind if you think I’m going anywhere with you,” she spat, her voice sharp, but there was a tremor underneath it, one she couldn’t quite hide. “I told you, I’m not interested. And I’m certainly not becoming part of your sick harem.”

Vorkar’s gaze flickered to Lena, his expression softening just slightly, but the predatory gleam never left his eyes. “You say that now, but in time, you will see reason. I have conquered entire planets, forged alliances with the most powerful civilizations in the galaxy. I offer you a future beyond anything this world can provide. You will not just be a queen, but an empress.”

Lena crossed her arms over her chest, glaring up at him. “And I told you—I’m not interested. I don’t care what you’re offering. I don’t care about your empire, your power, or your delusions of grandeur. I already have someone.”

Vorkar’s smile faltered for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly. He glanced between Kara and Lena, clearly intrigued by the claim. “Yes... this ‘someone’ you mentioned earlier. You said the name Kara Zor-El. Supergirl.” His gaze shifted back to Kara, his smile returning, darker now, more predatory. “Is that true, Zor-El? Do you claim this human as your lover?”

Kara froze for a moment, caught off guard by the question. Her eyes widened slightly as she glanced at Lena, searching her face for an explanation. Lena looked away, suddenly feeling a heat rise to her cheeks. The truth hung in the air between them like a fragile thread, and Kara’s heart stuttered in her chest, torn between shock and... something else, something deeper.

Before Kara could speak, Lena sighed heavily, stepping forward again. “Look, I told him that because I thought it would make him back off,” she explained, her tone frustrated. “I figured if he thought I was with someone, he’d lose interest. But clearly, I miscalculated because this idiot still thinks he can drag me off to become part of his twisted collection.”

Kara blinked, her mind racing to catch up with the situation. Lena had told Vorkar they were together—to protect herself. She was trying to fend him off, and for some reason, the only name that had come to mind was hers. Kara swallowed hard, pushing down the strange mix of emotions that swirled inside her. Focus, Kara. This isn’t about you right now.

Vorkar chuckled darkly, interrupting Kara’s thoughts. “Ah, so it was a lie, then,” he said, his tone dripping with amusement. “A clever ploy, Lena Luthor, but ultimately futile. Whether you are with this Supergirl or not, it changes nothing. I will still take you. I will defeat Zor-El and claim my prize. You will stand at my side as the most powerful of my wives.”

Kara’s fists clenched tighter, her anger flaring again, hotter this time. She stepped forward, closing the distance between her and Vorkar. “I don’t think you understand,” Kara said, her voice cold and cutting. “You’re not taking Lena anywhere. I won’t let you.”

Vorkar raised an eyebrow, clearly entertained by Kara’s defiance. “You’re bold, Zor-El. I’ll give you that. But you’re outmatched. You might be powerful here, on this planet, but compared to me? You’re just another Kryptonian.”

Kara’s eyes glowed a deeper red, her fury barely restrained. “You don’t know what you’re dealing with.”

Vorkar smirked, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “Oh, I know exactly what I’m dealing with. A Kryptonian warrior with an emotional attachment to a human.” His gaze slid back to Lena, and his expression darkened. “You’re protecting her because you care for her. You think that makes you strong, but it only makes you vulnerable. I’ll exploit that weakness, Zor-El. And when I’ve defeated you, I will take your lover for myself.”

Kara’s breath caught in her throat, and her heart pounded in her chest at his words. Your lover. The phrase sent a jolt through her, but it wasn’t just the implication—it was the sheer audacity of this alien, the way he spoke about Lena like she was a prize to be won, something to be taken from Kara. Her fury surged again, molten hot, and this time there was no holding it back.

“She’s not your anything!” Kara snapped, her voice loud and fierce, reverberating through the room. “Lena doesn’t belong to you. And she’s not some prize you can take.”

Vorkar’s smirk widened. “Is that so? Then who does she belong to, Supergirl? You?”

For a moment, the room fell deathly silent, the tension so thick it was suffocating. Kara’s heart pounded, and her breath hitched in her throat. Lena stood behind her, her presence steady and close, and for a brief moment, Kara felt everything else fall away—the alien, the fight, the danger. All she could think about was Lena, and how much she needed to protect her, how much she wanted to keep her safe.

Without thinking, the words slipped from Kara’s lips, low and fierce. “Yes.”

Lena blinked, her breath catching at the single word. She looked up at Kara, her heart racing, and for a split second, their eyes met. Kara’s expression was intense, her blue eyes burning with something raw, something that made Lena’s pulse quicken. There was no hesitation in her voice, no doubt in her stance.

“She’s mine,” Kara said, her voice low but firm, her gaze never leaving Vorkar’s. “And you’re not taking her.”

Vorkar’s expression flickered, just for a moment, with something like surprise, but it was quickly replaced by amusement. “Yours, Zor-El? Interesting. So, you do claim her, after all.”

Kara’s jaw tightened, her hands curling into fists at her sides. She wasn’t sure what had come over her—why she’d said that, why she was suddenly so possessive—but there was no turning back now. The truth was out there, raw and undeniable. She couldn’t let Vorkar have Lena. She wouldn’t.

“I don’t care what you think,” Kara said, her voice hardening. “You’re not laying a finger on her. If you want to get to Lena, you’ll have to go through me first.”

Vorkar’s eyes gleamed, his smirk widening. “Very well, Supergirl. If that’s the way you want it, then I will destroy you. And once you’re out of the way, Lena Luthor will be mine.”

The instant Vorkar lunged at her, Kara’s instincts kicked in. She dodged his punch by a hair’s breadth, feeling the force of it whip past her cheek and tear through the air with a sound like a sonic boom. If that punch had connected, the consequences would have been devastating. The walls of Lena’s penthouse trembled from the impact, and the windows that hadn’t already been shattered groaned under the pressure. Kara’s mind raced, calculating her next move with the precision of a seasoned warrior. She had to get Vorkar away from Lena, away from any possibility of collateral damage.

This fight was going to get ugly.

Without another word, Kara moved with blinding speed. She grabbed Vorkar by the chest plate of his alien armor, her fingers digging into the hard material as she launched both of them through the broken window. The glass that remained in the frame exploded outward in a shower of shimmering shards as they hurtled into the night sky, the cool wind whipping past them. Vorkar growled, twisting in Kara’s grip, but she was stronger, faster. She had to be.

Lena stood frozen in place for a moment, the sound of shattering glass ringing in her ears. Her heart hammered in her chest as she watched Kara and the alien vanish into the darkness outside. The room was eerily silent now, the remnants of the broken window letting in the distant hum of the city below. Lena’s hands were trembling, her body still buzzing with adrenaline. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside her.

Kara was fighting him. Kara was protecting her.

And she had said… what had she said?

She’s mine.”

The words echoed in Lena’s mind, reverberating with a force she hadn’t expected. She wasn’t sure what had shocked her more—Kara’s sudden possessiveness or the way it had made her feel. The way her heart had skipped a beat, the way her breath had hitched in her throat when Kara had said it. Mine. As if there was no question, as if it was a fact.

Lena took another shaky breath, her eyes lingering on the shattered window. She had always known Kara would protect her—Kara had saved her life countless times before, and Lena had come to rely on her in ways she couldn’t quite admit to herself. But this felt different. It wasn’t just about protection anymore. There was something else, something more raw, more personal in Kara’s declaration.

Lena blinked, forcing herself to focus. She couldn’t stand here, frozen, while Kara was out there fighting that lunatic. Her mind raced, trying to come up with a plan. She needed to do something, but what? She wasn’t a superhero. She didn’t have powers, didn’t have the ability to fly or shoot lasers from her eyes. But she was Lena Luthor. She wasn’t helpless.

She quickly grabbed her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed Alex’s number. The phone rang twice before Alex picked up, her voice sharp with concern.

“Lena? What’s going on? I just got an alert about a security breach at your penthouse. Are you okay?”

Lena swallowed hard, trying to keep her voice steady. “Alex, I’m fine—for now. But we’ve got a problem. Kara’s fighting some alien named Vorkar. He’s powerful, and he wants to take me… as his wife.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line, then Alex’s voice came back, laced with disbelief and anger. “He what? Where are you right now?”

“I’m still at the penthouse, but Kara took him outside. They’re fighting, but I don’t know how long she can hold him off. Alex, he’s strong. Really strong. I’ve never seen Kara look so… intense. She told me she won’t let him take me, but I—” Lena’s voice wavered, and she hated how small she sounded. She wasn’t used to feeling vulnerable like this, but the truth was, she was scared. Scared for Kara.

“Listen to me, Lena,” Alex said firmly, her tone commanding. “I’m heading to you right now. But you need to stay put, okay? Don’t follow them. Let Kara handle this.”

Lena bit her lip, her heart racing. She knew Alex was right, but something inside her rebelled at the thought of staying behind, of letting Kara face this danger alone. She wasn’t the type to sit back and wait. She never had been. And she couldn’t stay here, not after everything Kara had said, not after the look in her eyes when she’d told Vorkar that Lena was hers.

“I can’t just stay here, Alex,” Lena said, her voice firmer now. “I have to help her.”

“Lena, don’t be reckless,” Alex warned. “If you follow them, you could get hurt. Kara wouldn’t want that.”

“I know,” Lena whispered, her heart twisting. “But I can’t just stand by and do nothing. Kara’s risked her life for me so many times, and I’m not going to let her fight this battle alone.”

There was a pause, and Lena could practically hear Alex gritting her teeth on the other end of the line. Finally, Alex sighed. “Fine. But be careful. I’m sending a location ping to your phone so I can track you. Just don’t do anything crazy, okay?”

Lena nodded, even though Alex couldn’t see her. “I’ll be careful. I promise.”

She hung up the phone and slipped it into her pocket, her mind already racing with what to do next. Her heart pounded as she glanced back toward the shattered window, the cool breeze from outside chilling her skin. Kara was out there, fighting for her. Fighting because of her. And something about that—about Kara’s fierce protectiveness, her possessiveness—struck a chord deep inside Lena that she hadn’t realized was there.

She’s mine.

The words repeated in her mind, and Lena felt something stir inside her. She didn’t have time to examine it, not now. But she couldn’t deny the way her chest had tightened when Kara had said those words, as if she’d been waiting her whole life for someone to claim her like that. Not in the way Vorkar wanted to—like a possession—but in the way Kara had meant it. A declaration, a promise. A vow.

Lena pushed the thought aside and moved toward the window, carefully avoiding the shards of glass that littered the floor. She peered out into the night sky, scanning the horizon for any sign of them. The city below was bustling with lights and noise, but up here, everything seemed still.

Then, in the distance, Lena saw a flash of red and blue streak across the sky, followed closely by a metallic blur. Her heart jumped into her throat. That was them. They were still fighting, still locked in battle, and she couldn’t just sit here and wait.

Without hesitating, Lena grabbed her coat from the back of the chair and slipped it on, her fingers shaking slightly as she secured it. She didn’t know what she was going to do when she found them, but she couldn’t stay here, hiding in the shadows while Kara fought for her.

She had to go.

She quickly made her way to the elevator, her mind racing as she descended to the ground floor. The ride felt agonizingly slow, and with each passing second, Lena’s anxiety grew. What if something happened to Kara? What if Vorkar was stronger than they realized? What if—

The elevator doors slid open, and Lena rushed out into the lobby, ignoring the curious stares from the night staff as she hurried toward the exit. Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she pulled it out to see the location ping Alex had sent her. It was a few blocks away, near the industrial district on the edge of the city. Kara must have taken the fight there to avoid causing damage to the more populated areas. Smart. Always thinking ahead.

Lena quickly hailed a cab and gave the driver the address, her heart pounding in her chest as they sped through the city streets. The closer they got to the location, the more Lena’s stomach twisted with worry. She couldn’t stop thinking about Kara—about the way she had looked at her, the way she had stood between her and Vorkar, as if nothing else in the world mattered.

And maybe, in that moment, nothing else had.

When they arrived at the industrial district, Lena paid the driver and jumped out of the cab, her breath catching as she looked around. The area was mostly abandoned at this hour, the only sounds coming from the distant hum of machinery and the occasional gust of wind. She followed the location ping on her phone, her footsteps echoing in the quiet streets as she made her way toward an old, abandoned factory.

As she rounded the corner, she saw them.

Kara and Vorkar were locked in combat in the sky above, their forms clashing in a blur of motion, punches and blasts of energy lighting up the night. Kara’s face was set in a grim expression of determination, her eyes glowing with the power of her heat vision as she dodged Vorkar’s attacks with lightning speed. But Vorkar was strong—stronger than Lena had expected. He matched Kara blow for blow, his metallic skin shimmering with some kind of alien energy that seemed to absorb the impacts of Kara’s punches.

Lena’s heart clenched as she watched the fight unfold. Kara was holding her own, but for how long? How much longer could she keep this up?

The clash of fists and the occasional burst of energy filled the dark, empty air, echoing through the abandoned streets. Lena stood below, her eyes fixed on the two figures locked in combat, her heart pounding as she watched Kara give everything she had to protect her. The sight was breathtaking, both terrifying and... something else Lena couldn’t quite put into words.

She had never seen Kara like this before—so fierce, so determined. This wasn’t just a fight for survival. This was personal, and every punch, every block, every movement Kara made seemed driven by something deeper, something that Lena was only just beginning to understand.

Above her, Kara let out a sharp grunt as Vorkar’s hand closed around her throat. He moved with surprising speed, his grip tightening as he slammed her into the side of a large metal structure with a sickening thud. The impact sent shockwaves through the steel, bending it slightly under the force. Lena gasped, instinctively stepping forward, her body trembling with fear.

“Kara!” she cried, her voice barely audible over the sound of the metal groaning under the strain.

Kara grunted, her fingers clawing at Vorkar’s wrist as she struggled to free herself. Vorkar’s smirk widened, his cold, gleaming eyes locking onto Kara’s as he tightened his grip even further, lifting her slightly off the ground.

“Do you see now, Zor-El?” Vorkar growled, his voice low and dripping with contempt. “This is what strength looks like. This is power. You cannot stop me. You are a mere Kryptonian, bound by your emotions, by your weakness for these fragile humans. And when I’m finished with you, when you are nothing but dust in the wind, I will take Lena Luthor as my own.”

Kara’s eyes flared with fury, her body trembling with the effort it took to break free, but Vorkar’s grip was unyielding. He leaned closer, his breath hot against her ear as he continued, his voice filled with arrogance.

“Lena needs someone strong. Someone like me. Together, we will create a legacy that will span the stars. Our children will be the strongest in the galaxy, and her name will be remembered as the mother of an empire.” He glanced down at Lena, standing helplessly below, and his lips curled into a cruel smile. “She deserves a real king, not some pathetic protector who can’t even save herself.”

Lena’s heart lurched at his words, a deep anger bubbling up inside her. She wasn’t just angry at Vorkar’s arrogance, his assumption that she would ever want him, but at the way he dismissed Kara as if she were nothing. As if Kara wasn’t already the strongest person Lena had ever known—not just in terms of physical power, but in every way that mattered. Kara was strong because she cared, because she protected those she loved, because she never gave up, no matter how impossible the odds.

Vorkar would never understand that. He didn’t know what true strength looked like.

Kara’s lips curled into a defiant snarl, her blue eyes blazing with determination as she managed to choke out a response through his iron grip. “You… will… never… have her,” she growled, her voice low and dangerous.

With a sudden burst of strength, Kara twisted in his grasp, using the leverage from the wall behind her to break free. Her movements were fluid, instinctive, and in an instant, she had reversed their positions, slamming her own fist into Vorkar’s gut, sending him reeling backward. His feet skidded against the pavement as he staggered, momentarily winded by the sheer force of the blow.

Kara didn’t waste any time. She shot forward, faster than a bullet, and before Vorkar could recover, she slammed her forehead into his with a brutal headbutt that echoed through the empty streets like a crack of thunder. Vorkar’s head snapped back, his grip loosening completely, and Kara dropped to the ground, landing in a crouch as she glared up at him, her chest heaving.

“You don’t get it, do you?” Kara said, her voice low, seething with barely contained rage. “Lena’s not some prize. She’s not a possession for you to take. She’s not yours, and she never will be. She deserves to be treated like the queen she is—not as a trophy, not as an object to fulfill some twisted vision of power.”

Kara’s words rang out in the cold night air, and something about the way she said them made Lena’s breath catch in her throat. There was a rawness in her voice, a sincerity that struck Lena to her core. Kara wasn’t just saying this to defy Vorkar—she meant it. Every word. And that realization sent a jolt through Lena’s entire body, a warmth spreading through her chest that she hadn’t expected.

“She deserves to be with someone who loves her,” Kara continued, her gaze fierce as she stared Vorkar down, her words a challenge, a promise. “Someone who sees her for who she really is. Not as a pawn in some intergalactic game of domination. She’s worth more than that.”

Lena felt her pulse quicken, her hands shaking slightly as she listened to Kara’s voice, her heart pounding in her chest. She wasn’t sure what was happening inside her, but every word Kara spoke seemed to wrap around her, pulling her closer, making her feel seen in a way she hadn’t expected. Kara wasn’t just fighting for her safety—she was fighting for her. For her autonomy, her dignity, her very soul.

“And I’ll never let you take her from me,” Kara finished, her voice hardening into steel. “Because Lena… she’s mine.”

Vorkar growled, his face twisted in fury, but before he could respond, Kara lunged at him again, delivering a series of rapid, precise blows that knocked him back, forcing him to retreat. Lena’s eyes widened as she watched the raw power in Kara’s every movement, the fluidity with which she fought. Kara was unstoppable, her rage tempered by her control, every punch, every kick delivered with purpose.

And all the while, Lena’s mind raced, her emotions swirling in a chaotic storm. She’s mine. Kara had said it again, and this time, it wasn’t just a declaration of protection—it was something more. Something Lena hadn’t been ready to face until now.

But she was ready now.

Lena’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched Kara fight, watched her push Vorkar back with everything she had. Kara had said she wouldn’t let him take her, that she wouldn’t let anyone take her. She had promised to protect her, to treat her as she deserved to be treated, not as an object or a trophy, but as a queen. As an equal. As someone who was loved.

Lena’s breath hitched, and before she could stop herself, the words slipped from her lips, quiet but firm, the truth finally breaking free.

“She’s right.”

The words echoed in the empty air, and both Kara and Vorkar froze, turning to look at Lena. Her heart raced, her chest tight with emotion, but she held her ground, her gaze steady as she stared at Vorkar, her voice unwavering.

“She’s right,” Lena repeated, louder this time. “I’m not yours. I never will be. And you’ll never be able to take me. Because I already belong to someone.”

Kara’s eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat as she stared at Lena, shock flashing across her face. But there was something else in Kara’s expression too—something Lena had seen only in fleeting moments, something she had tried to ignore for too long.

“I belong to her” Lena said, her voice steady, her gaze never leaving Kara’s. “I always have.”

Vorkar’s face twisted in rage, his fists clenching at his sides. “You dare—”

But Lena cut him off, her voice fierce, her heart pounding with certainty. “I dare,” she said, her eyes blazing. “Because I choose Kara. I choose her. Not you.”

For a moment, the world seemed to stand still. The air was thick with tension, the weight of Lena’s words hanging between them like a sword ready to fall. Kara stood frozen, her blue eyes wide, her chest heaving as she processed what Lena had just said. Her expression was a mix of shock, disbelief, and something else—something deeper, something Lena had been afraid to admit, even to herself.

But now, there was no going back. The truth was out, raw and undeniable.

Kara took a step toward Lena, her eyes softening, her voice barely above a whisper. “Lena… you…”

Lena swallowed hard, her heart racing, but she didn’t look away. “I mean it, Kara,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. “You were right. I’m not some prize to be won. But I am yours. I’ve always been yours.”

Kara’s breath caught in her throat, her blue eyes wide and searching Lena’s face as if she were trying to make sense of what was happening, of what Lena was saying. But Lena knew. She knew that she couldn’t deny it any longer. Not after everything they had been through together. Not after the way Kara had fought for her, had always fought for her.

She wasn’t sure when it had happened—when Kara had become the most important person in her life. Maybe it had been gradual, a slow burn that she hadn’t even noticed until it was too late. Or maybe it had always been there, simmering beneath.

Lena’s heart raced as she stood there, her words hanging in the air like an electric current. The weight of the moment pressed down on her, but there was also a strange sense of release, of freedom, in finally saying what she had been too afraid to admit for so long.

She belonged to Kara.

The truth of it settled over her. It wasn’t about protection or the fact that Kara had saved her life time and time again. It wasn’t even about Kara’s powers. It was something deeper, something that had grown between them over the years—a bond built on trust, on mutual respect, on love. Lena’s breath hitched in her throat as she watched Kara’s expression shift, a mixture of disbelief, relief, and something else flickering in those impossibly blue eyes.

Kara took a hesitant step toward her, her lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but no words came. There was only silence, the space between them filled with the unspoken feelings that had been lingering beneath the surface for so long. Lena could see the conflict in Kara’s eyes—could see how much this moment meant to her. And it hit Lena all at once how much she wanted this too.

But before Kara could respond, before either of them could take another step, Vorkar’s enraged growl filled the air, snapping the tension like a whip.

Enough!” he snarled, his eyes flashing with fury as he wiped a trickle of blood from his lip where Kara had struck him. His metallic skin gleamed under the moonlight, and he straightened, towering over them both, his presence looming like a dark storm cloud. “You think you can defy me? You think you can reject me for her?”

Lena’s stomach churned with disgust as Vorkar’s cold, predatory gaze flicked toward her, as if she were nothing more than a prize to be claimed. He sneered, his lips curling into a twisted smirk. “You are making a grave mistake, human. You could have had greatness. You could have been by my side, ruling the galaxy. Instead, you choose to tie yourself to her? A Kryptonian who is barely strong enough to stand against me?”

Kara's fists tightened at her sides, her muscles coiling with restrained anger as she shot Vorkar a deadly glare. But Lena felt no fear—only revulsion. She took a step forward, her eyes narrowing as she leveled a cold, hard gaze at Vorkar, refusing to let his intimidation affect her.

“You don’t get it, do you?” Lena said, her voice steady and filled with disgust. “I don’t want your so-called greatness. I don’t need your promises of power or legacy. What you’re offering isn’t strength—it’s cruelty. It’s control. And I will never be controlled by someone like you.”

Vorkar’s smirk faltered for a moment, his eyes narrowing. “You think this is a choice? You will be mine, Lena Luthor. Once I dispose of your Kryptonian pet, you’ll see sense. You’ll see that I’m the only one strong enough to claim you.”

Lena’s lips curled in anger. “You don’t know anything about strength,” she spat, her voice dripping with contempt. She turned to Kara, her eyes softening as they met Kara’s fierce, determined gaze. “She’s strong. Stronger than you’ll ever be.”

Kara’s expression flickered with surprise, but Lena pressed on, her words firm and unyielding.

“Kara,” Lena said softly, her voice filled with conviction, “you don’t have to prove anything to him. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. You’re strong enough as you are. And I trust you. I trust you more than anyone.”

Kara’s breath caught in her throat, her blue eyes locked on Lena’s with an intensity that made Lena’s heart skip a beat. For a moment, it felt like the rest of the world had faded away—like there was nothing but the two of them standing there, a silent understanding passing between them.

Lena’s voice trembled slightly as she continued, but her gaze never wavered. “You’ve always been strong, Kara. Not because of your powers, but because of who you are. Because of your heart. You protect people, you fight for what’s right, and you care—really care—about others. That’s real strength. That’s why I…” She hesitated for the briefest moment before the words finally slipped out, raw and honest. “That’s why I belong to you.”

Kara’s eyes widened, her lips parting in a silent gasp as the weight of Lena’s words crashed over her. Lena could see the emotions warring in Kara’s eyes—disbelief, awe, and something deep and unspoken, something Kara had been holding back for far too long. But before either of them could say anything more, Vorkar let out a low, rumbling laugh that sent a shiver down Lena’s spine.

“Such pretty words,” Vorkar mocked, his voice dripping with arrogance. “But they won’t save her, Zor-El. When I’m finished with you, she’ll be begging to be mine.”

Kara’s expression hardened in an instant, her entire body tensing as she turned to face Vorkar once more. The calm, collected facade that Kara usually wore had completely melted away, replaced by a raw, burning rage that Lena had rarely seen in her.

“You really don’t get it,” Kara said, her voice low and dangerous, laced with an icy fury that sent chills down Lena’s spine. “Lena isn’t yours to take. She’s not yours at all. And I won’t let you lay a single finger on her.”

Kara’s fists glowed with the faint, dangerous red of her heat vision as she stepped toward Vorkar, her eyes blazing with righteous fury. “You think you’re strong because you can hurt people. Because you can destroy. But that’s not real strength. Real strength is knowing when to fight and when to protect. And Lena… she’s worth protecting.”

Vorkar sneered, his metallic skin gleaming under the dim lights of the industrial district. “You think you can protect her from me? You’ve barely been able to keep up with me, Zor-El. When I’m finished with you, there won’t be anything left but a broken, beaten shell of the so-called ‘hero’ you pretend to be.”

Kara’s eyes flashed dangerously as she clenched her fists. “You think I’m afraid of you? You think I’ll let you hurt her? You’re wrong.”

In one swift, fluid motion, Kara shot forward, her body a blur of motion as she slammed into Vorkar with the full force of her strength, her fists connecting with his metallic form in a rapid flurry of punches. The impact sent shockwaves through the ground, the sound of metal crashing against metal filling the air as the two clashed once more. Vorkar staggered back, but Kara didn’t relent—she pressed forward, her every movement fueled by the fierce protectiveness that burned inside her.

Lena watched with wide eyes, her heart pounding in her chest as Kara unleashed everything she had. This wasn’t just a battle—it was personal. Kara wasn’t just fighting for her own survival; she was fighting for Lena, for their connection, for everything that had been left unsaid between them.

And the intensity of it all hit Lena like a tidal wave, overwhelming and undeniable. Kara was doing this for her. Not just because she was Supergirl, not just because she was a hero—but because she cared. Because she saw Lena as more than just someone to save.

Lena’s throat tightened as she watched Kara deliver a brutal uppercut that sent Vorkar flying backward, crashing into the side of an old shipping container with a deafening clang. The metal bent under the force of the impact, but Kara didn’t stop—she flew forward, grabbing Vorkar by the front of his armor and slamming him into the ground with enough force to leave a crater.

“I told you,” Kara growled, her voice low and dangerous as she pinned Vorkar to the ground, her eyes glowing with barely restrained heat vision. “You will never take Lena from me.”

Vorkar let out a strangled laugh, his lips curled into a sneer even as he struggled to get up. “You think you’ve won?” he spat, his voice strained. “This isn’t over, Zor-El. I’ll come back for her. She’ll be mine, one way or another.”

Kara’s eyes narrowed, and for a brief, terrifying moment, Lena thought Kara might unleash her heat vision on Vorkar right then and there. The rage in her eyes was palpable, raw and unfiltered, and for a split second, it looked like Kara might cross a line she could never come back from.

But then Kara glanced over at Lena, and something shifted in her expression. The fury, the anger, all of it seemed to melt away as her eyes met Lena’s. And in that moment, it was as if Kara found her center again—as if Lena’s presence grounded her, reminded her of who she was, of what she stood for.

With a deep breath, Kara stepped back, releasing her grip on Vorkar and letting him fall to the ground in a heap.

“This is over,” Kara said, her voice steady, but still carrying that dangerous edge. “You’ll never come near Lena again. I’ll make sure of it.”

Vorkar glared up at her, his body trembling with barely contained rage, but he didn’t say another word. He knew he had lost—for now.

As the night air settled back, Vorkar’s metallic form lay crumpled on the ground for a moment, glaring up at Kara with hatred blazing in his eyes. He struggled to stand, but even his strength had limits. Kara's relentless assault had left him battered, his pride wounded as much as his body. Slowly, he rose to his feet, his chest heaving with labored breaths. His cold, predatory gaze swept over Kara once more before it turned to Lena, as if silently promising that this wasn't the end. He would be back.

Lena, feeling the weight of his stare, lifted her chin defiantly, her heart pounding with a mixture of rage and disgust. She didn't flinch or back away from him this time. Instead, with one smooth, deliberate motion, she raised her hand and flipped him off—a solid middle finger aimed directly at his smug, twisted face. The gesture was simple, but it was loaded with everything Lena felt: contempt, rejection, and the complete dismissal of his power over her.

"You’re nothing, back off," she muttered under her breath, loud enough that she hoped he caught every word.

Vorkar’s eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a vicious sneer, but he didn’t respond. With a low growl of frustration, he turned away, his battered form staggering slightly as he activated his ship’s controls. Within moments, the craft's engines whirred to life, and in a flash of light, he was gone, disappearing into the night sky.

The tension that had hung over the industrial district seemed to evaporate the moment Vorkar vanished. The hum of his ship’s departure echoed into the distance, fading into silence. For a brief moment, all Lena could hear was the sound of her own ragged breaths and the faint rustle of the wind through the nearby buildings.

And then she heard it—an almost imperceptible sound from behind her, a soft, breathy groan.

Lena spun around, her heart seizing in her chest as she saw Kara.

Kara, who had stood so strong, so fierce just moments ago, was now on her knees, her body trembling with exhaustion. Her once defiant, powerful stance had crumbled, and Lena could finally see the toll the battle had taken on her. Kara's shoulders slumped, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath. Blood trickled from a cut above her eyebrow, and the bruises forming across her skin were already darkening, despite her Kryptonian physiology.

“Kara?” Lena whispered, her voice suddenly thick with concern, panic rising in her throat.

Kara didn’t answer. She was trying—Lena could see her struggling to stay upright, her eyes fluttering with the effort to remain conscious—but it was clear she was barely holding on. The adrenaline that had fueled Kara’s fight was draining fast, and with it, the last of her strength was slipping away.

Lena didn’t waste another second. She rushed to Kara’s side, her heels clattering loudly against the concrete as she dropped down to her knees beside her, her hands immediately reaching out to steady her.

“Kara, look at me,” Lena said, her voice gentle but firm as she cupped Kara’s face in her hands, guiding her to meet her gaze. “Kara, please, stay with me.”

Kara’s eyes blinked open, glassy and unfocused, but they flickered with recognition when they landed on Lena. A weak, tired smile tugged at the corner of Kara’s lips, but it didn’t reach her eyes.

“Lena…” Kara’s voice was barely a whisper, hoarse and strained from the fight, from the effort it had taken to hold Vorkar back. “You’re… you’re okay…”

“Don’t you dare worry about me right now,” Lena said, her voice shaking slightly as she carefully examined Kara’s injuries. Her heart clenched painfully in her chest as she realized just how bad it was—how much Kara had been hiding her pain. The wounds were deep, and Lena knew that even with Kara’s accelerated healing, it would take time for her to recover fully. “You’re the one who’s hurt. You—God, Kara, you’re bleeding.”

Kara’s smile faltered as she tried to sit up straighter, but her body betrayed her. A pained grunt escaped her lips as she winced, her muscles tensing under Lena’s hands. Lena’s grip tightened, steadying her, refusing to let Kara fall any further.

“I’m fine,” Kara tried to say, but her voice was so faint, so fragile, that Lena’s heart broke a little more.

“No, you’re not,” Lena said, her voice shaking now, her eyes stinging with the threat of tears. “You’re not fine, Kara. You’re hurt, and you need help.”

Kara shook her head weakly, her breath coming in shallow gasps as she leaned into Lena’s touch, her body sagging against her. “I’m… I’m okay,” she insisted, though even she didn’t sound convinced.

Lena’s fingers trembled as she brushed Kara’s hair away from her face, wiping at the blood that was still trickling from the cut on her forehead. She had never seen Kara like this—so vulnerable, so… human. It was like a punch to the gut, seeing the woman she cared about more than anything in the world brought so low, all because she had fought to protect her.

The enormity of what Kara had done, of what she had risked, hit Lena all at once, and it was almost too much to bear. She had never wanted this—never wanted Kara to sacrifice herself, to put her own life on the line just to keep her safe. But that was who Kara was. It was who she had always been. A protector. A hero.

And now, Lena realized with a painful clarity, Kara was her hero.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Lena whispered, her voice breaking slightly as she stared at Kara’s bruised and battered face. “Why didn’t you tell me how much this was hurting you?”

Kara gave her a weak, tired smile, her eyes fluttering shut for a moment before she forced them open again, her gaze softening as it met Lena’s. “Because… it doesn’t matter,” she said, her voice barely more than a breath. “You’re safe… that’s all that matters…”

A tear slipped down Lena’s cheek, and she quickly wiped it away, refusing to let herself fall apart—not now, not when Kara needed her to be strong.

“You always do this,” Lena whispered, her voice filled with a mix of frustration and admiration. “You always put everyone else before yourself.”

Kara’s smile widened just a fraction, and despite the pain, despite the exhaustion, there was a softness in her eyes that made Lena’s heart ache.

“That’s what you do when you love someone,” Kara murmured, her voice so quiet that Lena had to lean closer to hear her. “You protect them. No matter what.”

Lena’s breath caught in her throat, her heart skipping a beat as Kara’s words sank in. When you love someone. Kara had said it so easily, so naturally, as if it were the simplest truth in the world.

But for Lena, it was everything.

“Kara…” Lena’s voice trembled, and she swallowed hard, trying to hold back the overwhelming flood of emotions that threatened to break free. She didn’t know how to say it—how to tell Kara just how much she meant to her, how much she had come to realize in these last few moments. But the words wouldn’t come, not yet.

Instead, she reached out, her fingers brushing against Kara’s cheek as she held her gaze, her heart aching with everything she couldn’t say.

“You’re not alone, Kara,” Lena whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “You don’t have to carry this by yourself. I’m here. I’m always going to be here.”

Kara’s eyes softened, her expression melting into something so tender, so full of love, that Lena felt her chest tighten. Despite everything, despite the pain and exhaustion, Kara still had that look in her eyes—the look that said she would do it all over again if it meant Lena was safe.

But this time, Lena wouldn’t let her fight alone. This time, Lena would be there for her, just as Kara had always been there for her.

“I trust you,” Lena said softly, her voice steady now, filled with a quiet determination. “I trust you to win. I know you’re strong enough to beat him, to beat anything. But you don’t have to do it alone.”

Kara blinked, her blue eyes shimmering with something Lena couldn’t quite name, something raw and vulnerable. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything, her body swayed slightly, her knees buckling under her.

“Kara!” Lena gasped, her arms tightening around Kara as she gently guided her down to the ground, cradling her as she sank to her knees.

Lena’s heart pounded in her chest as she held Kara close, her hands shaking as she brushed her fingers through Kara’s hair, trying to soothe her. “It’s okay,” Lena whispered, her voice soft and filled with worry. “I’ve got you.”

Kara leaned into her, her body sagging with exhaustion as she rested her head against Lena’s shoulder. Lena’s breath hitched as she felt Kara’s weight settle against her, the warmth of her body grounding her in a way she hadn’t expected.

For a long moment, they stayed like that, the world around them fading into the background as Lena held Kara close, her heart aching with the weight of everything that had just happened.

“I belong to you,” Lena whispered, her voice breaking as she held Kara tighter, as though her very touch could protect Kara from the pain, from the world. It was a confession that Lena hadn’t meant to say, not like this, not when Kara was so broken in her arms, but the words slipped out so naturally. She couldn’t stop them.

Kara’s head, still resting heavily against Lena’s shoulder, stirred slightly. Her breathing was shallow, ragged, but at those words, Lena felt her stiffen just a little, as if even in her weakened state, Kara had heard her. Felt her. And that small response, that flicker of acknowledgment, sent Lena’s heart into a wild frenzy.

“Lena...” Kara’s voice was hoarse, a quiet rasp against the hollow of Lena’s neck. She didn’t say more—she didn’t need to. Lena could hear the weight of her exhaustion, the fight to stay present in every syllable.

Lena shifted slightly, adjusting Kara in her arms as she lowered them both onto the cold, hard ground, her knees aching from the pressure but not caring in the slightest. Her full attention was on Kara—the woman who had risked everything to keep her safe, the woman who would sacrifice herself a thousand times over if it meant protecting the people she loved.

The woman I love, Lena realized, the thought slamming into her with the force of a freight train.

How long had it taken her to admit it? How many sleepless nights had she spent in denial, pushing down those feelings, refusing to acknowledge the pull that always brought her back to Kara? Even now, it felt surreal to finally give it a name. Love.

Lena’s fingers brushed against Kara’s cheek, her thumb gently wiping away the streaks of dirt and dried blood that marred her perfect skin. “Kara, you don’t have to say anything,” Lena whispered, her voice barely above a breath. “Just… just let me be here for you. Please. Let me take care of you.”

Kara’s body, though weakened, seemed to relax in her arms, her head resting more heavily against Lena’s chest. But her hand—shaking, trembling—lifted ever so slightly to find Lena’s, their fingers brushing together in a small, but deliberate touch. It was Kara’s way of saying she understood, of saying that she felt Lena’s love, that it meant something, even if she didn’t have the strength to voice it aloud.

“I’ll always protect you,” Kara murmured, her voice barely audible now, so quiet that Lena had to lean closer to hear her. “No matter… what.”

Lena’s heart twisted painfully at Kara’s words. Of course she would say that. Even now, even with her body broken and bruised, Kara was still thinking of her, still making promises, still trying to protect.

But this time, Lena wouldn’t let her. Not like this.

“No,” Lena whispered, shaking her head as she gently lifted Kara’s hand, pressing it to her chest so Kara could feel the steady thrum of her heartbeat beneath her skin. “You’ve done enough, Kara. You’ve done more than enough. Let me protect you for once.”

Kara’s eyes fluttered open, the blue of her irises dull with exhaustion but still holding that familiar spark, that fierce determination that made Lena’s chest ache with affection. “Lena, I—” she began, but the words faltered, her voice too weak to carry them.

Lena pressed a finger to Kara’s lips, silencing her with a gentle, loving touch. “Shh,” she whispered softly, her eyes filling with unshed tears as she looked down at the woman who had come to mean everything to her. “You don’t have to say anything. I already know.”

For a long, quiet moment, they stayed like that—Kara’s broken body cradled against Lena’s chest, the cool night air brushing against their skin, the world around them fading into a distant hum. Lena felt a sense of peace wash over her, despite everything, despite the chaos and the danger that still loomed in the shadows.

Because, in this moment, it was just the two of them. Just Kara and Lena. And for the first time in what felt like forever, Lena allowed herself to feel the full weight of her emotions, to let her heart open in a way she had always been too afraid to before.

She leaned down, her lips brushing against the top of Kara’s head in the softest of kisses, her heart swelling with the overwhelming love she felt for this woman—this woman who had shown her what real strength was, who had taught her that love didn’t have to be weakness, that it could be the most powerful thing in the universe.

“I love you, Kara,” Lena whispered, the words slipping out before she could stop them, her voice thick with emotion. It felt so right to finally say it, to finally give voice to the truth that had been living in her heart for so long. “I love you so much.”

Kara’s breath hitched at Lena’s confession, her eyes blinking open again as she looked up at her with a mixture of surprise and disbelief. Lena could see the emotion welling in Kara’s gaze—the tenderness, the gratitude, the love that Kara had always tried to hide, to protect.

But Lena didn’t want her to hide anymore.

“I…” Kara began, her voice shaky, barely more than a breath. She swallowed hard, her eyes locking onto Lena’s with an intensity that sent a shiver down Lena’s spine. “I love you too, Lena.”

It was the softest whisper, a confession that seemed to hang in the air between them, fragile and precious. But it was enough. It was everything.

Lena’s breath caught in her throat, her heart swelling with joy, with relief, with a thousand different emotions all at once. She had waited so long to hear those words, had doubted them so many times. But now, hearing them from Kara’s lips, knowing that Kara loved her just as deeply, just as fiercely… it was more than Lena could have ever hoped for.

“I’m yours,” Lena whispered, her voice thick with emotion as she pressed another kiss to Kara’s forehead, her fingers gently brushing through Kara’s hair. “I’ve always been yours, Kara.”

Kara’s body relaxed even more in Lena’s arms, her breathing steadying as if Lena’s words had finally given her permission to let go, to rest, to heal. She nuzzled her face against Lena’s chest, her fingers still lightly entwined with Lena’s, and for the first time that night, a true, genuine smile tugged at her lips.

“Mine,” Kara murmured, her voice soft but filled with a quiet, possessive affection that made Lena’s heart skip a beat. “You’re mine.”

Lena let out a soft, breathy laugh, her tears finally spilling over as she held Kara tighter, her heart overflowing with love and gratitude. She didn’t care about the danger, about the battle they had just fought, about the fact that Kara was still so fragile in her arms. None of it mattered anymore.

All that mattered was that they were here, together.

And that, no matter what happened, no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face it together.

Lena pressed one last kiss to Kara’s forehead before pulling back slightly, her eyes searching Kara’s for any sign of pain, of lingering fear. But all she saw was love, pure and simple, reflecting back at her.

“I’ve got you,” Lena whispered again, her voice steady now, filled with a quiet strength. “And I’m not going anywhere. Ever.”

Kara’s smile widened, and for the first time since the battle began, Lena saw a flicker of peace in her eyes.

“I know,” Kara whispered, her voice soft, but filled with certainty. “I trust you.”

And that was all Lena needed to hear.

Kara lay in Lena's arms, the weight of exhaustion still pulling at her, but the warmth of Lena’s embrace gave her strength. For a moment, the chaos of the night, the brutal fight with the alien, and her own injuries faded into the background. All Kara could focus on was Lena—how close she was, the soft rhythm of her breathing, and the way her arms cradled her protectively, as if Lena never wanted to let her go.

Lena’s fingers brushed gently through Kara’s hair, smoothing it back as she kissed her forehead tenderly. It was a simple gesture, but it filled Kara’s heart with a warmth she hadn’t realized she’d needed. The tension from the battle seemed to melt away, replaced by a quiet peace that only Lena could give her.

A soft chuckle escaped Kara’s lips, breaking the silence.

Lena’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked down at her. “What’s so funny?” she asked, her voice soft but tinged with curiosity.

Kara smiled, the corners of her lips quirking up into a teasing grin. “I saw what you did back there,” she murmured, her voice still weak but laced with a playful warmth. Her blue eyes sparkled as she glanced up at Lena. “The gesture… you gave Vorkar. That middle finger.”

Lena’s eyes widened slightly, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks. “Oh,” she said, her lips parting in surprise before a scoff of laughter escaped her. “That? Please, it was nothing.”

“Nothing?” Kara repeated, her grin widening as she shifted slightly in Lena’s arms, wincing at the movement but refusing to break the moment. “Lena, you flipped off an alien warlord.”

Lena shrugged, though the proud glint in her eyes betrayed her nonchalance. “He deserved it. After everything he did tonight… after he tried to hurt you, Kara, I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing. I wasn’t going to let him walk away thinking he had any power over me—or you.”

Kara’s smile softened, her heart swelling with affection. She had always known Lena was fierce, brilliant, and courageous, but seeing that fire in her, that unyielding determination to stand her ground even against someone as dangerous as Vorkar—it made Kara’s heart race.

“I loved it,” Kara admitted, her voice quiet but filled with sincerity. “It was so… bold. So you. Fierce, protective… and kind of sexy.”

Lena blinked at Kara’s words, her cheeks flushing even deeper, though she quickly masked it with a roll of her eyes and a scoff. “Sexy?” she echoed, her voice filled with playful disbelief. “Kara, I was threatening an alien who tried to kidnap me. That’s not exactly… seductive.”

Kara chuckled, her breath still a little shaky from the strain of the fight, but her amusement was genuine. “It is to me,” she murmured, her blue eyes locking with Lena’s as a mischievous grin played at her lips. “You were fearless, Lena. You stood up to him, and you didn’t back down, not even for a second. That’s pretty sexy, if you ask me.”

Lena couldn’t help but smile at Kara’s words, even though she tried to hide it with another scoff. She glanced away for a moment, shaking her head, but the small, pleased smile tugging at the corners of her mouth betrayed her.

“Well,” Lena said, her voice softening as her fingers brushed over Kara’s cheek tenderly, “if he dares come back and even thinks about hurting you again, I’ll do more than flip him off.”

Kara raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the sudden determination in Lena’s voice. “Oh? And what exactly will you do?”

Lena’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous, calculating light. “I’ll build something,” she said, her voice low but filled with a quiet menace. “A gadget. A device. Something that can trap him, neutralize him, and send him far, far away. Maybe the farthest reaches of space where he can’t hurt *anyone*.”

Kara chuckled again, but this time it was deeper, more affectionate, as if Lena’s words had wrapped her in a comforting embrace. Despite the soreness in her body, despite the lingering pain from her injuries, Kara found herself smiling, genuinely touched by Lena’s fierce protectiveness.

“Lena Luthor, the brilliant inventor and alien deterrent,” Kara teased, though there was no mockery in her tone—only admiration. “Remind me never to get on your bad side.”

Lena smirked at that, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she gazed down at Kara. “I’m serious, Kara. He won’t stand a chance if he comes back. I’ll be ready.”

Kara’s heart warmed at Lena’s words, at the way she said it so confidently, as if there wasn’t a doubt in her mind that she could do exactly what she promised. And Kara knew she could. Lena was always capable of the impossible.

“I know you will,” Kara said softly, her smile fading into something more tender as she looked up at Lena with a quiet, unwavering trust. “You always are.”

Lena’s expression softened, her teasing edge melting away as she leaned closer, her face only inches from Kara’s. Her gaze flickered over Kara’s features, the bruises, the cuts, the weariness in her eyes, but also the love, the unwavering strength that Kara always radiated, even in her most vulnerable moments.

“You’re always sexy,” Lena murmured, her voice low, her breath brushing against Kara’s lips as she closed the distance between them. “Even when you’re stubborn, even when you’re hurt, even when you’re trying to fight the world alone.”

Kara’s breath caught in her throat at Lena’s words, her body tensing slightly beneath her, but not from pain this time. It was the heat of Lena’s words, the way her voice softened with such affection, such reverence, that made Kara’s heart race.

“And you…” Lena’s lips brushed against Kara’s, a barely-there touch, but enough to send a shiver down Kara’s spine. “…are always mine.”

With that, Lena closed the distance between them completely, pressing her lips to Kara’s in a kiss that was soft at first, tentative, as if she were afraid of hurting Kara in her weakened state. But as Kara leaned into the kiss, as her hand found Lena’s, intertwining their fingers, the kiss deepened, turning into something more heated, more passionate.

Kara melted into it, her mind swimming in the sensation of Lena’s warmth, of her lips moving tenderly yet possessively against her own. The kiss was a promise, an affirmation of everything they hadn’t said yet, of everything that had been building between them for so long.

When Lena finally pulled back, her forehead resting gently against Kara’s, both of them breathing heavily, Kara couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, the sound filled with pure happiness.

“What’s so funny now?” Lena asked, her voice still breathless from the kiss, but her eyes glimmering with amusement as she gazed down at Kara.

Kara shook her head, her grin widening. “You,” she said, her voice filled with affection. “You’re amazing, Lena. Absolutely incredible.”

Lena rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face was impossible to hide. “Stop flattering me, Supergirl,” she muttered, though her tone was playful, light. “I know what you’re doing.”

Kara raised an eyebrow, still smiling. “What? I’m just telling the truth.”

“Mm-hmm.” Lena’s lips twitched into a smirk as she leaned in again, her lips brushing against Kara’s ear as she whispered, “You’re lucky you’re so damn charming.”

Kara’s breath hitched at the feeling of Lena’s breath on her skin, and she couldn’t help the chuckle that bubbled up in her chest. “And you’re lucky you’re so damn fierce,” Kara shot back, her voice soft but filled with admiration.

Lena pulled back just enough to meet Kara’s gaze again, her eyes softening as they locked onto Kara’s. “I’ll always be fierce for you,” she whispered, her voice filled with a quiet intensity. “No one is ever going to hurt you while I’m around. Not Vorkar, not anyone.”

Kara’s heart swelled at Lena’s words, at the fierce protectiveness that laced every syllable. She had always been the one to protect others, to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. But now, hearing Lena’s words, knowing that she wasn’t alone, that Lena would fight just as fiercely for her—it was more than she could ever have asked for.

“I know,” Kara whispered, her voice soft but filled with gratitude. “I know you will.”

Lena smiled, her fingers brushing gently against Kara’s cheek again as she leaned down and pressed another kiss to Kara’s lips, this one softer, more tender. It wasn’t about passion this time—it was about love. Pure, undeniable love.

When Lena pulled back again, her eyes shimmering with affection, Kara felt a warmth settle deep in her chest, a warmth that came from knowing that, no matter what happened, no matter what battles they faced in the future, they would face them together.
