Chapter Text
Now could someone please tell you what you were looking at?
When you woke up today you found yourself standing in front of a mirror. Your reflection staring back at you. At first nothing seems wrong… That is until you realize the uniform you were wearing.
“This is.. Royal Academy of Diavolo’s..?”
Okay when did you get a cosplay of RAD’s uniform? And one so well made too.. the fabric was comfortable and it felt like an actual uniform instead of just a costume. This must've cost a lot. But when did you order such a thing!? Where did you even order it from!? When did you pay and when did it arrive!? Why did you wake up in it while standing!? Were you possessed or something!?
You tear your eyes from the mirror and were about to walk to your bed and scream into a pillow but then you realized something else. This room.. was definitely not yours. Did you break into someone's house and stole their cosplay while sleepwalking!? Oh no no no no- you're going to get in so much trouble- no, you are in trouble!
As you were panicking suddenly you heard a ping coming from the bedside table. You recognised your phone and instantly checked it. When you unlocked it, what greeted you wasn't your usual home screen but…
[“Hello! It is me Karasu your reliable AI assistant”]
Karasu. Karasu. The crow/raven themed virtual assistant that introduces the functions inside the D.D.D. to new players. Basically the starting tutorial helper. Why was he on your phone!?
[“Facial tracking shows that you're confused. Don't worry! Though how about I suggest you look outside the windows first? Maybe you'll have a better sense of what's happening then”]
Outside? Why outside? What was happening outside that would give you a clue to what is happening? Could it be the police? Were they waiting for you just outside this house? Oh please no. Well whether it’s true or not it's best to see it first right? Let's just hope you could later convince them it was an accident.
You took a deep breath before opening the curtain a little to take a peek outside. What you saw was.. a courtyard? Wait, is this a room inside a big building? From the similar looking structure all around you would guess that this was some sort of dorm building.
“I broke into someone's dorm room didn't I? Whatever institution this is they would definitely report me-”
[“Hey calm down! No one's getting reported or arrested today! At least not you… But anyway, don't you recognize that building faaaar away over there? If you can't then use the camera function to zoom in”]
You peek again and try to see as far as you can. In the distance there was what seemed to be a castle. With the help of the camera- that somehow could zoom in that far- you realized the castle wasn't just any castle. It was Diavolo's castle. How do you know? You can see Barbatos, Diavolo, and Lucifer walking through one of the windows thanks to the camera.
“Dude why is the quality so good even with the distance? This camera is almost like the perfect tool for a stalker”
[“It is not a stalker camera! I improved the quality just for you and this is what I get!?”]
You stare at the tiny raven symbol that persisted in the bottom left corner of the screen as if to judge him. Before you could make another comment on it you immediately froze and checked the camera again.
“Shit… They're real!? Wait, don't tell me I've been isekaid!?”
[“Now you just realized… You're pretty slow for someone who reads a lot of fanfictions with this genre”]
“I am not slow! I just can't believe this! I mean I didn't die or anything! At least I don't remember dying…”
There was a silence between you and Karasu before the AI spoke up again.
[“While I cannot confirm anything about the state of your previous body, what I can say about your current body is.. well would you like to try and transform?”]
“Transform?”
[“Yes after all you are a demon now so you should have your own demon form. I haven't seen it yet but I do know you have one”]
“I'm a demon!?”
You immediately went back in front of the mirror and tried your hardest to transform. Though it seems nothing worked since even Karasu was telling you to just put it off for later because now you're going to be late for school.
“Fuck! School! I have to go to school again!”
You began sobbing into your pillow on your new bed. If Karasu had eyes he would be rolling them so hard it could rival the loop of a rollercoaster.
[“You don't need to worry too much about that. The classes are mostly just trivia quizzes. If you can remember even just some little tidbits from the game you'll be able to pass them easily”]
You look up from the pillow to stare at the raven icon on your screen.
“You mean that they're mostly relating to the lore sprinkled around the story? I can't remember all that”
[“It’s not only about the lore. Do you remember “Surprise Guests”?”]
Your eyes widened as you realized what Karasu was implying.
“You don't mean… They're going to ask me what gifts and gestures the character likes!?”
[“Yep yep! Those are the most common. Other things like lores or things that can only be found in the story are quite rare and would only pop up after you actually went through the corresponding scenarios yourself”]
You can't do that either because you mostly main one to two characters while the others are usually changed depending on your gacha luck that month. You don't know all of their preferences damnit!
[“Oh don't worry I can still give you hints on what food or gifts they like! Though about gestures.. you might need to explore it yourself. Trial and error!”]
Well… At least there's that.
[“Anyway I need to remind you that you're now going to be very late to class if you don't hurry”]
“Oh fuck! Where's my school stuff!?”
[“Already in your bag. Come on now- oh! Don't forget your earphones! We'll be able to talk without disturbing others”]
You quickly spotted the tangled wires of said earphones and grabbed them before running out of the dorm. You had to quickly run back and lock the door before going back to running to the school building. Karasu helps you navigate the halls using the map feature and giving directions through the earphones on where to go.
You just barely missed the bell as you took your seat at the back near the door. You took off your earphones and put it in your bag while you slid your phone into your pants pocket. The teacher came in and the lesson started.

Karasu:
[You failed that lesson miserably. Maybe you should stick to purely gift giving from now on? That would be expensive though]
You:
Shut up. It was literally Lucifer. I don't know how to please a man like him and it's been a while since I've played.
Karasu:
[You should learn then. Or else your favorability with him would eventually lower into the negatives]
You stopped in your tracks as you read Karasu’s text.
“... What?”
Karasu:
[Your favorability with the real characters are also affected by how well you treat them in “Lessons”. It may not be real but it would create an image of who you are to them without them even talking to you. If you're not careful you might even get yourself a hater even if you never met in real life because once you do met and the favorability is below zero then they'll instantly dislike/hate you depending how far the number is from zero]
Oh fuck. Usually in the actual game there was no way to drop affection levels with the characters. It's either they go up or just stay on the current level even if you mess up. Though now you're introduced to the concept of negative affection levels and how it would affect your relationship with the characters.
You:
You're kidding.
You:
Tell me you're kidding Karasu.
Karasu:
[Unfortunately I am not. Though this wouldn't really matter much if you don't plan to meet any of the main casts. But your grades might look bad to the teachers and you'll be called about your “lack of enthusiasm in class” by them]
So it doesn't matter if you just avoid them. Well as much as you want to meet your favorite characters you know how dangerous that could be especially if you're not the MC who has protection from the demons and also plot armor.
Karasu:
[Exactly. You should probably keep your grades on an average at the very least just so that teachers wouldn't be concerned that you're falling behind. There's also some bad things that could happen if you raise affection levels too high]
Oh you knew already. You didn't get here this far without knowledge from (un)trustworthy fanfictions. You know that if there's affection bars involved then there is the possibility of too much or too little of anything. Too little affection would lead to hatred. Too much affection would lead to obsession. Average is the safest. You'll be a neutral party through and through.
Karasu:
[That's if you don't fall into your temptations and run to talk to any of the characters]
“You have so little faith in me”
You finally sat down at a park bench and got out the sandwich you bought earlier. You ate it with one hand while chatting Karasu with the other.
After a while of just reading whatever information Karasu was giving you about Devildom you suddenly felt movement from your other hand. You turn and see a tall ginger biting into your almost forgotten sandwich who stared back at you.
“I foght yew fifn’t vant if”
You blinked a few times now recognising just who took a bite out of your sandwich.
“What?”
The ginger straightened up so he wasn't leaning towards you then swallowed the bite before talking again.
“I thought you didn't want it”
Right now you were staring at none other than the famished sixth born of the demon brothers. The Avatar of Gluttony himself. Beelzebub.
[“Good luck kiddo (thumbs up)”]
‘You’re leaving me now Karasu!?!?’
“Uhm.. I did want it but I guess I was too preoccupied with my phone. You can have the rest of it though if you want”
You push the sandwich (or whatever was left of it after Beel’s first bite) towards him and the glutton didn't even think twice to accept it.
The warning bell rang signaling the end of lunch approaching and the demon left mumbling about getting another snack before class starts. You were left sitting there still processing.
“... I fucked up”
[“That you did. You just established first contact with Beelzebub”]
“Can I at least see the affection bars?”
[“Unfortunately even I don't have free access to those… They would only show up once you actually level up or down. That could only happen if you meet the characters more often and I'm sure you said you didn't want that?”]
“Yeah… Let's just… Blend into the background for now”
You stood up from the bench and walked towards your next class with Karasu helping you yet again through your earphones. You just hope the MC is already in the exchange program and they would take everyone's attention towards them.
What a shame you didn't know that those affection bars are practically useless when you already have them on high levels from the time you played the game. It doesn't matter anymore when they're already obsessed with you. You're far too late to even avoid them.
