The punching bag swung from the branch as Hunting Knife stepped back. He watched it swing for a few seconds before he smiled. "Oh, thanks! Looks.." He hesitated and looked off. "nh-.. ssstable..?"
Gas Nozzle slid down the ladder and nodded. "Yup-Yup!" He put his hands on his hips in pride and stopped next to the taller. "Call if you break the branch!" He snorted and held back a laugh. "..or the bag again-!" Hunting Knife rolled his eyes playfully. "Off you go." He shooed Gas Nozzle off, and he started his way in another direction, but before he could get far.. "OH! Wait.. Are you busy later today?"
"Yuhh," he replied, "Cave exploring. You?"
He looked back just in time to see his companion's face flare a dark red. He stiffened and looked around rapidly, stumbling to get out a sentence.
"d-jh- Uhh, n-not-nothing that interests a shallow mind such as yours!" He spat, crossing his arms. Gas Nozzle smirked as he watched Hunting Knife struggle to form a coherent thought.
"Sure bud. Have fun out there!" He said optimistically, giving him a thumbs up. Hunting Knife didn't return the optimism though, and seemed to deflate. "You're not wishing me luck, are you..?"
"Well, I wouldn't say that.."he lowered his voice in uncertainty. "..probably.."
"I'm working on it, Nozzle.." Hunting Knife sighed as he pinched the space between his eyes. Gas Nozzle heard the strain in his voice and decided to end it there. "Alright then. Don't sass him to death." he finger gunned hunting Knife supportively. "I'll be headed off n-"
The branch that the punching bag hung from creaked a threatening close to snapping sound, and the two paused to hear better.
"..You want me to put it.. somewhere else-?"
"-As soon as possible."
Nozzle sighed and mentally hyped himself up for more arm and leg work. "Alright. Let's do this thing then..!"

Coffee Machine yawned, nice and long as his eyes adjusted to the light that peeked through the blue drapes in the cabin. "Hhohgod, what time is it..?" He reached for his phone and turned it on. He squinted at the brightness of the screen and turned it all the way down before seeing the time; "Wh- 12 pm?!"
"Well I mean.. that is fair; I did sleep for some time.." He stood up and stretched, his limbs shaking as he did. He grunted contently as he released and he felt a few bones pop and relax. "Man, I should probably set an alarm for myself next time," he commented aloud as he walked toward the door. He jiggled the handle when he arrived, and found himself confused when it didn't open. He tried it again. It stayed locked.
"What..?"
He shook the knob harder, and even pulled with his foot planted on the wall to get some more force, but the goozack stood firm. He imagined it mocking him and sticking out its tongue.
"Why-?" He whined, sitting down in defeat. He looked back over to the bed that sat in the corner of the room. "Well.. I guess I COULD just go right back to sleep, huh..?" he thought aloud.
After a moment of silence, Coffee Machine stood up and rammed into the door, like he was in the FBI. All he accomplished was a locked door, and a sore shoulder.
His other attempts were less than useful. He tried knocking, maybe someone on the other side would hear and let him out. Or maybe the gracious cabin would finally UNLOCK, and let him out. When nothing happened after the third knock, he decided to try something else. He got on his knees and tried sticking his finger in the keyhole, to see if he could reach the lock mechanism.
He stopped when he cut his finger.
Coffee Machine was all out of hope at this point, and just stood up and yelled "OPEN SESAME!" Nothing happened.
Defeated he walked back to the mattress with his head hung. "Aw, double whammy. Looks like i'm sitting today out for now." He sort of didn't mind though, because that meant he could go back to sleep.
A few hours passed and Coffee Machine woke up again. "Hmm, I wonder if anyone's noticed me today. I think I would have noticed me." he stood up and trudged toward that cursed door. As expected, it was still locked. "I do know that i'm BORED OUT OF MY MIND!" he shook it violently before giving up and sitting back on the mattress.
"I guess I could try calling someone," he said, turning on his phone. He opened the phone app and scrolled the list of contacts. He stopped at a familiar name; "Ah, How about Hunting Knife?" he said, pressing his contact.
But before he could even type a letter, the worst possible thing happened; his phone died. He stared bewildered at the screen, blinked twice and groaned. "Yeah, I probably should've figured out what to do with my charger.."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hunting Knife swung his feet anxiously from the bench. He pulled out his phone and texted Coffee Machine, who he'd expected to see at least once that day. 'Hey CM, Call me when UR not busy,' he typed, frowning deeply "I wonder what he's up to, anyway.." he said, once he hit send.
Hunting Knife watched the sun and clouds creep slowly across the sky. After a while, he swore he could hear mooing from afar. Bored, he watched a few old streams from one of his favorite content creators. When he finished 3 videos, the sun was lowering, and he decided to head over to the cabin to watch the sun set.
He climbed the side ladder up onto the roof and sat down, looking out at the sky. The sun was now dipping lower in the sky, and it cast a beautiful display of pinks and oranges. It was hypnotizing, in contrast to the standard blue. Ambulance sirens wailed in the distance, reminding him of the city, and how they weren't too far away. Although the sirens were meant to cause alarm, the utensil found them almost soothing, in a nostalgic sense. Cicadas chirped in the forest surrounding. He closed his eyes and breathed in the cool air of the forest.
Hunting Knife's consciousness threatened to shut down, and just as he was about to succumb to rest, he heard the cabin door open, and out stepped the person he'd been looking for all day; Coffee Machine. He wobbled a little, like he'd just gotten off an amusement park ride. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Hunting Knife commented, referring to the sunset. Coffee Machine looked startled by the sound of his voice at first, but the initial shock melted into confusion, and he looked around for him, squinting his eyes against the sunlight.
"Up here~" He called. Coffee Machine looked up to see Hunting Knife waving at him from the roof, very whimsically. "Uh y-yeah, heh. Really pretty," he replied, only half referring to the Picasso like scene. "Why don't you come up and.. watch it with.. me?" Hunting Knife clasped his hands together and squeezed hopefully. Coffee Machine's face tinted a light red. Luckily for him, it wasn't deep enough that Hunting Knife would notice, especially from where he was perched on the roof.
He climbed the ladder on the side of the small building and grunted as he pulled himself onto the roof. "Alright i'm up." he said, shooting a thumbs up to the blade. Then his attention turned to the scene before them, and all the breath rushed out of him. "Oh, woah." was all he managed to get out.
"Hey," Hunting Knife said after awhile, breaking the silence and startling Coffee Machine, who jumped slightly. "..What were you doing in the cabin all day? Uh- I never saw you." Coffee Machine tinted slightly darker, and made an effort to avoid eye contact with him. "I.. uh.." he stammered, "kinda.. locked myself.. in the cabin..?" Hunting Knife's expression fell into a smirk, and he snickered. "H-what? how??" He giggled and kicked his feet. "I thought you were just out for a walk?!" Coffee Machine pouted and looked off. "No- come on, don't laugh, please! I didn't know what to do!"
Hunting Knife, weakened by his laughter, struggled to catch his breath, "S-gehe-!so-mgaha..!" He took a breath. "So- how did you manage to get out..?"
"I just went back to sleep, but when I tried the door before, it was unlocked." Hunting Knife's grin dropped into a look full of skepticism. "..Are you gas lighting me?" Coffee Machine looked offended. "What?! No! Never!" He shouted passionately. Hunting Knife, content with his answer, and the vigor behind it, smiled and leaned back onto the roof, resting his hands underneath his head. He closed his eyes and smiled. "Well, I guess the cabin is nice, a lot nicer when you're tired..!" Coffee Machine chuckled, scratching his head. "H-Yeah, yeah- i'd know." They smiled at each other. The small conversation faded into a comfortable silence, and they watched the sunset.
The sun dipped lower, and peeked right above the mountains. Its rays allowed light to remain across the sky, and it would for a few hours more. Hunting Knife sat up, resting on his arms. "Hm.. it's later than I thought," he whispered, eyes drooping a little. He stood to his feet and dusted himself off. "I think.. it's time I head off now."
"Oh," Coffee Machine acknowledged, watching him walk towards the edge. "-okay. See you tomorrow?" Hunting Knife jumped onto the ladder. "I hope so. That is.. if you don't lock yourself in once again." The former laughed, "I'll work on it."
Hunting Knife slid down the railing, but stopped midway. He blushed, mind churning. He screamed at himself to do it already, and his anxiety fought with his heart for another minute. A beat passed, and he let out a shaky and forceful exhale. "Come on Hunter," he mumbled, climbing back up.
Coffee Machine watched, confused, as Hunting Knife reproached him, his face expressionless. For a second, they both just stood there, cicadas the only sound they could hear.
Then, Hunting Knife kissed him, and he could hear his heart hammering in his ears- right after it skipped a beat. He sat, shocked and wide-eyed for a small beat before immediately melting right into the warm embrace. The kiss was everything Hunting Knife and Coffee Machine were too scared, embarrassed or proud to say, and more. It was everything they'd held in for as long as they could remember. Hunting Knife brought a hand up to cup Coffee Machine's face, and he held the former's wrist loosely in return.
Almost as suddenly as it was initiated, the kiss ended, and Hunting Knife turned tail, hobbled off the roof, slid down the railing of the ladder, and ran away. He knew he'd kick himself in the ass for that later on, but it seemed to be the only option available at the time. He could not face his friend after that.
Coffee Machine watched him hobble off the roof, and speed off. He watched him go for a few seconds, then returned his attention back to the sun and mountains. He smiled and blushed hard, eyes drooping. Then he pumped his fist, hissing a "Yes!! Yes!! Yes!!" under his breath.
The sunset finally ended as it dipped behind the mountains, saying goodnight to this side of the world.
