Work Text:
The frozen breeze composed of sickeningly cool nighttime thoughts pierced through her thick, black snow jacket which was intricately lined with details of mammal fur along the edges of the cowl.
Her mind- not too unlike the crisp ozone- was purged with thoughts of tenses, whether it was present, past, or future, it plagued her nonetheless. Perhaps it was the hour hand having turned high- or the glacial ambience clinging onto the smooth, almost polished, concrete rooftop, but prospecting this possessed her mind and made her unable to conceive of other things at the moment.
Thoughts of strings long lost- cut off yet still attached to her- fractured her skull and intruded into her mind, sticking itself into a small pocket her consciousness. The strings were threaded and ingrained with memories of various portraits- some more detailed than others.
Staring into the inky void above dotted with small white specks filled to the brim discoveries to be made, she recollected the past events- from the ones originating from times she could hardly remember, only small fragments and blurs- to the memorable and clear not so long ago.
She thought back to the resets- how the loop her life was stuck in would never end. An infinite loop composed of sewing strings together, to strengthening the thread, then it being forcefully cut off by the cruel blade which manipulated everything eventually. That same force which changed the flow of water and the burning crackles of fire. The skein of her heart slowly had too much cut off ends, the leftover thread having to be rationed only for the essentials. Why was she so naive in the past? To waste the string of her skein on tying it with other skeins?
Just like the frosted atmosphere- she was left cold and dull after she ran out of yarn. Her lips were sucked out of moisture by the breeze, creating a momentary effect where she appeared not too dissimilar to a corpse. After all, the difference between the two would be glass- completely see-through and clear.
