Chapter Text
It's dark....why?
I hear sounds, some familiar, some not.
I soon felt a hand on my shoulder. My eyes shot open as I looked at who touched me. I look up to a kind woman. "Honey, it's bad to nap here by yourself...." the woman says, "Ah, that's right, this....is the Orphanage Care Taker....
I then get up. "Yes, sorry, Ms. Naomi...." I bow at her. She smiles as she pets my head. "That's okay, come, help me make dinner for everyone," she smiles as I follow her inside. I've been here for as long as I remember, there's times I dream and see a futuristic city and lifestyle...for some reason I'd miss those city lights, music I hear in them, but I don't know why.
I eventually grew up to age 8 and am already helping around, doing chores, and running errands for Ms. Naomi, she often tells me I came to her like magic. She has no idea where I came from, no idea of my origins, but it doesn't bother me.
As I help her cook for tonight's dinner, I often wonder how I'm able to do most things before she tells me. As if I've been an adult, I often get picked by the other kids in the orphanage for being too adult.
But I don't care... for some reason, the bullying gets me really angry.
As the dinner was done, Ms. Naomi went to gather the kids as I prepared the food for them. I'm often find myself more comfortable talking with adults than people my age. I think it's just that they don't annoy me or it feels more normal to me.
As I prep the food, I find myself humming to familiar music, yet I never remember hearing them. The dining room became loud, and I already felt annoyed. I quickly gave each brat food before I got myself some to run off somewhere alone.
To me I rather be alone than surrounded by those kids.
~~~
I was on the roof of the orphanage as I looked up at the stars. My black to red ombre hair blows into the wind as I enjoy watching the night sky. My golden eyes and my unique hair stand out amongst the other kids. Soon enough, I won't be seeing the other kids soon.
I'm going to the academy soon, and then I'll be a Shinobi for this village, the Hidden Leaf Village.
~~~
The next day, I woke up a bit late as I hurriedly ran to the academy to get to class before it started, but funny enough, I crashed into someone going the same way.
"Ugh!"
"Ack!" I yelped as I fell on by butt and looked to see a kid my age wearing some goggles that barely fit him. He was busy rubbing his head and his back.
"Ow ow ow ow! Sorry! I'm just running late to the academy! I got held up helping this old lady, and -
"You're fine, I was running late cuz I overslept, I'm going to the academy," I say. He looks at me. "You too? That's great! At least I won't be late by myself! I'm Obito, Obito Uchiha! And I plan to be Hokage someday!" He says boasting. He made me laugh.
"Sure but I think being late would not look good for a Hokage, let's go before we end up in trouble on our first day, I'm Amara" I say as he looks at me as if he was waiting for me to say a clan name or something, then again he's from the Famous Uchiha clan. "Ah, sorry, I don't have a clan. If you thought I didn't finish telling you my name,"
That made him so confused. Is it that weird. "You don't? Well, Amara! Nice to meet ya!" He says with a smile. "Let's go!" With that, we both ran as fast ourselves could.
~~~
We weren't so lucky. We had to wait outside as we both made it late. I sighed as we were disciplined.
"Stupid sensei, I can't believe they are having us stand here," Obito mutters with his arms crossed. It made me smile as I patted his shoulder.
"It's alright, at least you're not alone, but I don't wanna be labeled as a troublemaker though," I say, worried. He then smiles.
"It's okay, Amara. I'm sure we'll be allowed in after a few more minutes," he says, and soon enough, we were allowed in.
The rest of the class was a blur. For me, I seemed to know the basics of the classes, and funny enough, I ended up between Obito and this girl with the purple tape on her cheeks. I ended up doodling while the classes went on.
~~~
Weeks went by, and I ended up making two friends, Obito and that purple taped girl, I learned her name was Rin Nohara. Since they were the only ones I knew, I stook to them. We were outside practicing throwing Kunai and Shuriken. One of the kids was already good at it, I think I heard his name was Kakashi because Obito was fussing on how he was being a show off. Soon enough, it was my turn.
"Amara, you're up," our sensei said. I went to and stared at the target, I then had many shuriken in between my fingers and readied and aimed before throwing, and I hit all the targets with a bullseye. I then used the kunai and did the same with them. I gained a lot of applause.
"That's impressive Amara, looks like we got two geniuses," Sensei says. A lot of girls seemed envious, and some boys were starting to stare at me. I ignored their stares, but I looked at my friends, and Rin was clapping happily, and Obito was happy but feeling a bit jealous.
I don't know why, but I never held any of those weapons before, but yet, it instinctively came to me on how to use them. I then noticed that Kakashi kid stared at me, and I looked back at him. We had a stare down before I sticked my tongue out at him. He got taken off guard as he got flustered and looked away, annoyed.
It was oddly entertaining...
~~~
It was the end of the day, and I was walking out of the Academy with Obito and Rin.
"Amara, that was amazing what you did in class! You are very talented, " Rin says, smiling happily for me, I just smile.
"Yeah! It was amazing! I didn't know you were that good! Don't tell me you are trying to beat me to Hokage, are you?" Obito asks. I shake my head.
"I have zero interest on that, so don't worry, you can have it," I say. Obito got relieved, and Rin just giggled.
As I hung out with them, they were the only two I didn't mind who were my age. It felt like people I knew for some reason. I had a flashback memory when I was looking at them talk to each other, it the people looked different and took their spots. I blinked in confusion. Rin was the first to notice.
"Amara? Are you okay?" She asks, worried. Obito soon took notice.
"You okay?" He asks as he looks concerned. I wave it off.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just thinking," I say to brush off the Deja Vu. Soon enough, we parted ways to head home to our separate directions.
~~~
Once I walked into the orphanage, I was pushed hard against the wall. I winced but didn't cry.
"You freak, you never cry no matter how hard I get with you. No wonder your parents abandoned you!" Keigo says he's the leader of the bullies in the orphanage. For some reason, I'm his favorite to pick on.
"Keigo, leave me alone," I say as I start to walk away. It's a big mistake before he grabbed my hair, yanking me back.
"Who said you can leave?" He says with a glare his group started to snicker. "I did, dork," I say, annoyed.
He then yanked my hair harsher, making me yelp, he smirks when I did that. "You better be careful with that smart mouth of yours. If you keep talking back, I'll have to cut that long freaky hair," he warns. His friends start laughing. I sighed as I didn't talk back, and then he started to hit me until I bruised.
I really wanted to punch his face in....
~~~
I was on the counter as Ms. Naomi was busy treating my bruises and injuries. She caught Keigo and his friends beating me up, and they were put in the time-out room for an hour. Not that it will do anything.
"When are you going to defend yourself? You begged me to be a Shinobi, I even got you into the academy, I was hoping you defend yourself better...." she says.
"I know."
"I know you are able to kick their butts," she says. I sigh.
"I know....."
"Then why don't you?"
"Cuz if I did, I'll be no different than them, and I will have to deal with them even more cuz I fought back...." I really hate the idea of mindless violence. I heard Ms. Naomi sighed at me.
~~~
Soon enough, the days at the academy flew by, and I make it a habit to meet up with Rin and wait for Obito. Once he arrived, we headed to the Academy together. Even sitting together like a trio. With me in between them. I guess they both wanted to sit next to me, and we found an agreement by me in the middle. This occurred for weeks to months, then eventually a year, until it was time to graduate.
Normally, the requirements were four years, but I think a war is going on that they need more Shinobi that they are desperate to get us into the battlefield. So, we went through the process rather faster than most.
I took that time to train and practice, and while I did so I learned that I didn't really need to make any handsigns to make jutsu. I took advantage of that, I learned I was a Lightning user. So I worked on that more than anything while also studying Medical Ninjutsu with Rin, she told me it's important to know how to heal and treat injured allies, at first I didnt want to but it made sense.
We both learned that even though it didn't take me long to master it, I guess the medic role came naturally to me. But I didn't wanna be defenseless, so I practiced combat and attack Ninjutsu with Obito. And we often did so until we passed out. We often got nagged by his grandmother for using up too much Chakra. I often ended up sleeping over his place a lot due to it, Ms. Naomi learned eventually where I was after I came home the next day to get nagged but then said it's okay to stay over a friends place, but make sure to let her know first.
While in class, I was watching Obito fight a classmate as I sat there thinking, since we are progressing so quickly due to war, what's going to happen. I'm an extra in the class, I noticed the class is odd numbered so that means I'll be am extra in one of the teams, I wonder with who I'll be with...
~~~
Exam day came and I passed with flying colors. My clone was a perfect version of myself. And soon joined the others for thr team selection. Now it's time for me who I'll end up being grouped up with.
I wasn't really paying attention to the others since I don't know the names of those kids even if they were my classmates, they often become part of the background when I don't focus on them and only around Rin and Obito.
"Next up is Team Minato—"
When I heard the that name it felt familiar, don't know why. I wondered where I heard it. Ah, it's the Yellow flash of the leaf, Minato Namikaze.
"Team Minato consist of Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Rin Nohara—"
Oddly why that team up sounded familiar too. How odd it's as if I already knew.
"–and Amara"
I then paused. I beg your pardon.
Time froze for me as I didn't expect that was the team they were going to place me for being an extra. Funny enough Obito wasn't here to hear the team assigning due to him being late as usual, probably being his helpful self.
Rin hugged me. Startling me.
"Amara! We are on the same team!" She was happy to have me with her. I smiled as I pat her head. Honestly I have a weird habit to pat Rin or Obito when they do something sweet or adorable. I wonder how this will go.
