Jane should be pleased that Maura's updated her fantasy wedding to include Jane as maid of honor. She admits to herself the idea of Maura thinking about what Jane will wear, about what colour will look good on her (midnight blue Maura says whilst herself wearing a shade of blue that could arguably be described as midnight, not that Jane knows about these things) , makes her feel warm, but beyond that this conversation is not a fun one, as much as they are both keeping it light.
Jane says she'd have drunk too much to wear a strapless dress to Maura's wedding because she knows she'd need alcohol to get through the day. How else is Jane meant to survive Maura giving herself to some unworthy man like that?
She doesn't know who the man will be but she already knows he won't deserve Maura. He won't be able to simultaneously admire and respect her work and her independence whilst recognising her vulnerable side. He won't find her recurrent assumption that everyone is following her medical jargon heavy explanations as adorable as it is frustrating. He will probably take advantage of her inability to lie.
Of course if Maura wants to get married, to find someone to join her life with like that, then Jane wants that for her, but she can't help selfishly hoping it never happens. Because Maura is Jane's, even though Jane doesn't deserve her either, and she can't imagine Maura is going to find anyone to marry who will accept Jane's place in her life.
