Chapter Text
Noé was exhausted. He and Vanitas had spent the whole day hunting down a curse bearer, eventually leading to a strenuous fight. Thankfully they had been able to come out on top in the end. By the time they had returned to their hotel, the dining area had closed, and Noé was starving.
Noé let out a quiet sigh while he mopped in his head.
‘Times like these are why I wish Vanitas would let me have just a bit of his bloo-’ quickly cutting off his words before he could finish that thought.
Ashamed of himself Noé quickly thought ‘No! Vanitas put his trust in me to not drink his blood, and I will not betray it!’ Noé lightly slapped his cheeks to clear his thoughts entirely on the subject of Vanitas’ blood.
“Noé, why the hell are you slapping yourself in the face?” stepping out of the bathroom Vanitas peered over at Noé with an eyebrow raised.
“Oh nothing, just a bit tired, and hungry…” giving a little smile, Noé didn’t want Vanitas to get too worried. He would be just fine after some good rest.
“Hungry? Oh right, we missed dinner. Do you wanna call for Amelia to see if she can bring anything for you?” tilting his head in question.
Shaking his head, Noé declined “No it’s ok, it’s already so late. I wouldn’t wanna bother her”.
While untying his hair from his usual style, Vanitas replied “If you say so”. Noé had almost missed his reply with how enthralled he was with Vanitas’ hair. The strands were like ebony feathers flowing down his shoulders. He always thought Vanitas’ hair looked soft, he wanted to just caress his hand through it once, but he’s sure Vanitas would never agree.
“My eyes are up here Noé” Vanitas’ voice said all of a sudden. Snapping out of his daze, Noé hadn’t realized how close Vanitas had walked to him. His own knees bent from where they were sitting on his bed compared to Vanitas’ straight standing ones. Their knees only an inche’s width apart. Noé slowly looked up, staring into Vanitas’ eyes, he was looking right at Noé with an irritated expression.
‘Ah i’ve been caught staring how embarrassing…’ Noé’s cheeks flushed slightly from shame.
Trying to explain himself, Noé began to say “Sorry… I didn’t mean to stare i was just distracted by your-”
“By what? You're staring at my neck, so what is it? My blood perhaps?” Vanitas said, cutting off Noé and giving him a sidelong look.
“What?! No, no! Of course not! I’m sorry if it came off that way I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable Vanitas…” Noé would feel horrible if he had actually made Vanitas feel unsafe. What should he do? Noé will have to make it up to Vanitas somehow. Maybe they could go somewhere Vanitas would like tomorrow? Or Noé could make him something to eat? Wait no, that last one would never work he would just end up lighting something on fire again…
Noé’s mind was scrambling to find some sort of solution when suddenly a noise caught his attention.
“Pfft” looking up at Vanitas, -wow why was he still standing so close - Noé saw the cat-like smirk spread across his face.
‘Huh? Hold on a second… had Vanitas been joking earlier?’
Vanitas tried to talk, but his giggling was giving him some difficulty.
“Hehehe you should’ve seen your face! I could tell your brain was going a mile a minute” putting a hand on his mouth to smother his laughter.
“That’s not funny Vanitas! I thought I actually upset you!” indignantly Noé replied.
Finally ceasing his laughter Vanitas gave a smile. Slowly bending down he began to caress Noé’s face with a gentle hand.
‘W- where is this coming from?!’ Noé didn’t have a clue what to do. Vanitas had never done something like this before!
“Noé do you remember the mark Jeanne gave me?” Vanitas asked suddenly while continuing his caressing of Noé’s face(it felt quite nice).
Heavily confused at the change of topic, but not wanting to stay silent, Noé began to answer.
“Uh yes, I remember it. Is there a reason you’re asking?” there’s no way Noé would ever forget it to be honest. Ever since finding out about the mark Noé had felt an unparalleled amount of envy. How come Jeanne was able to drink Vaniats’ blood, but not him!?(Noé knew exactly why, didn’t mean he had to like it though)
“I’d like you to replace her mark Noé” was Vanitas’ answer
‘...WHAT’ had Noé heard him right?!?!?!
“Vanitas, wait but that would mean- that would mean I’d have to drink your blood and see your memories!” Noé quickly exclaimed.
‘There’s no way Vanitas actually means this! Maybe he’s just messing with me again?? This feels a little cruel even for him though…
Vanitas then put a knee on the bed beside Noé’s sitting legs, and wrapped his arms around the vampire's neck.
“I know what I said. I want you to cover her mark with your own” Vanitas whispered in Noé’s ear.
“B- but your memories…”
“You already know so much of my past at this point from reading Mikhail’s memory, it makes no difference anymore.”
‘There’s no way this is happening right now’ Noé had no clue what to do. Why had Vanitas suddenly changed his mind on this?
Vanitas tilted his head, revealing the rose-like mark on his shoulder. He presented the mark right in front of Noé’s face, giving the vampire a sultry look.
“C’mon Noé, I give you full permission to do as you please”.
Hesitantly Noé brought a hand up.
‘Is this a good idea? I mean- Vanitas is giving me the go ahead… it should be fine’ came Noé’s thoughts unsure.
‘If Vanitas ends up regretting it I'll just make sure to apologize a lot, and find a way to make it up to him…’
Slowly Noé began to pull back Vanitas’ hair with his hand. Cautiously Noé brought his face to the offending mark. At least he’d never have to see it again.
Finally Noé bit into the junction between his shoulder and neck, right on top of Jeanne’s mark. Giving a lick to the area just before he bit down, as a slight warning to Vanitas.
As the first taste of blood entered Noé's mouth he didn’t know what to think, his brain was going haywire. He’d never had blood so delicious before, not even Domi’s tasted this good (in the back of Noé’s mind he felt a little guilty at the thought).
Vanitas’ blood tasted so fresh and refreshing, yet sweet at the same time. It was almost like- almost like… tarte tatin! Noé had never expected Vanitas’ blood to taste like tarte tatin of all things given the man’s strong dislike of sweets. Still this was quite the pleasant surprise.
Noé drank the offered blood slowly, trying to savour the taste. Who knew when he’d get a chance like this again from Vanitas, he’d make sure to appreciate it as much as possible.
Noé was quite a bit surprised he hadn’t been forced into Vanitas’ memories yet. Usually by this point he’d be looking around people’s memories, from the happy ones and the most painful ones.
Though before Noé could complete that thought he got distracted by a sudden noise. Perhaps due to the languid pace Noé had set, or Vanitas’ own mind going hazy from the loss of blood, a light “Noé” slipped from his lips, causing Noé to pause and process for a second, but quickly starting with his drinking again a moment later.
‘Did… did Vanitas just moan my name?’ Mulling what happened in his head as he continued to slurp at Vanitas' blood. Noé decided he quite liked the sound of his name on Vanitas’ tongue.
It’s not like he’d never heard Vanitas say his name, he’d actually heard it a bunch, but this was different somehow. More intimate. More vulnerable.
‘Vanitas… his voice sounded so cute, I wanna hear him say my name again’. Noé slowly began to pick up the pace in his drinking, causing a hitch in Vanitas’ breath at the unexpected pace change.
“Noé what- ugh” Vanitas shuddered from the sensation of Noé’s drinking, his breath growing a bit ragged, and slight tears pricking his eyes.
Ah Noé really liked Vanitas saying his name like this. Slipping his other arm onto Vanitas’ hip he began to up the pressure and pick up the speed till all Vanitas could do was mumble his name incoherently.
“Noé… Noé… Noé…! Noé…!!” his voice slowly getting louder. Noé had definitely died and gone to heaven cause what could be better than this-
“NOÉ WAKE UP”
