Work Text:
Be wary , Solas had told them- he is a brute, and he will break you if he must. If you must appease his ego to survive… He’s seen Elgar’nan’s ways before, his need to dominate at all costs.
But Rook is not appeasing his ego . Elgar’nan has them bent under him and the Fade is thin enough here that Solas can hear everything as his hips slam deep and Rook moans desperately, clenching around him. Their breath comes in fast pants, each interrupted but the next movement, and he will not stop talking . Not to Rook- not anymore. Rook is beyond hearing either of them. They shudder at Elgar’nan’s every touch, pushing for more, their pleas having long since turned to garbled nonsense.
“Ah, Solas,” Elgar’nan says, amused. His hips do not slow and neither do Rook’s frantic attempts to move beneath him. “Perhaps if you had talked less and taken what you claimed as yours they would at least resisted me.” There’s a long moan and Rook reaches blindly for Elgar’nan; he presses their hands down firmly. “You have not earned the right to touch me,” he informs them. The words clearly don’t register at all and magic binds their wrists. They pulse against it helplessly.
“Elg- ar,” they begin, an admirable effort that is broken off by a cry as his hips snap. He grips them by the throat and forces their head back as he squeezes; they wheeze as he does, their body torn between the obvious desperation to be touched and the need to breathe.
“Your life is mine,” Elgar’nan informs them and Solas is forced to watch as they try to form words that he’s sure even they don’t know. He squeezes hard, blocking off their airway entirely for a moment- and they spill all over themselves. Solas wishes he wasn’t here. Wishes he didn’t understand- didn’t remember what that felt like. Elgar’nan’s laugh as he releases their throat and they gasp for breath is for him alone. He has not slowed at all and he knows the over-stimulation well- knows that Elgar’nan does not care. That soon enough Rook won’t either, despite the fact they’re instinctively trying to pull away now.
“Dread Wolf.” Elgar’nan’s voice reverberates through Rook’s mind to him. “See your pawn.” He can all but feel it- the glory of Elgar’nan’s overwhelming presence, the need to please him subsuming all else. Blood magic rises in the air as he holds their face still with one hand and traces his thorns over their cheeks. It makes Solas sick to watch, but he cannot turn away. Their body is held still by magic but their tongue is not and they beg, beg for more. “I see you still care as little for those who follow you as you once did.”
“E...l,” Rook tries to say. He presses a hand to their throat and they whimper as he pushes down, down- and they spill once more.
“I will treat them better than you ever did, Dread Wolf.” Rage rises in him but he cannot do anything about it. “I will claim them openly, and they will thank me for it. You never did understand, Fen’Harel- they need to be ruled.” The magic in the air is thick and hangs over everything for a long moment- and then rushes into Rook all at once as their body is released. Elgar’nan’s touch blankets everything and Solas can feel his presence as keenly as he had so many thousands of years ago.
“My lord,” they cry as the marks traced on their skin etch deeply into their body, their first coherent words in a long time. Elgar’nan laughs as he gathers the threads Solas has so carefully woven through Rook in his hand, lifting them as Rook feels further and further away, but keeping them intact.
“I am your god,” Elgar’nan says to Rook.
“My god,” they manage immediately in response. “Please-”
“See, Dread Wolf, how to claim someone.” Elgar’nan thrusts deep and Rook sobs as he does, completely overwhelmed. “When I pull you from your prison, I will ensure you remember what it feels like.” Elgar’nan snaps the threads and Solas knows no more.
