Summary:

Juliet is dead. Alex is trapped.

David has them right where he wants them.

Work Text:

Alex had to get out of here.

Lowering himself to the floor, he pressed his back against the door and positioned the phone between his legs. He was trembling all over and his heart was racing and— oh god, had it always been this hard to dial the phone?

“Alex!”

There was a thud against the door as David’s weight pressed against it from the opposite side. He urgently twisted the doorknob; and when it wouldn’t open, he began to pound his fist against the door. Alex jolted, his heart racing. The phone slipped through his fingers, falling to the floor with a clatter.

“Open the door, Alex!” David threatened. The doorknob twisted above him again. It may have been futile now, but a locked door could only hold him back for so long. “I just want to talk.”

His actions suggested otherwise, Alex thought.

All he could think about was Juliet. Her panicked screams still rang in his ears, and he knew—he knew without a doubtit was going to haunt him forever. He was going to have nightmares about this for the rest of his life, still hearing her voice long after it was gone.

Assuming he managed to survive.

Alex sucked in a breath. “N-no,” he said calmly, though he hated how the word caught in his throat. “Just go… please. Take the money. Take all of it. I don’t care anymore, David. You can have it. It’s all yours.”

Silence.

Then, “Who are you calling?”

His heart was beating so fast, so loud, there was no way David couldn’t hear it. The blood rushed to his ears. “What? It’s no— No one, David. Don’t be ridiculous.”

Another silence. He pressed his head against the door, listening for any movement from the other side. It was only after David’s weight shifted on the floorboards, and Alex’s gaze shifted down, that he noticed the phone cord moving underneath the door. His breath caught in his throat.

“Sex lines at this hour? It wouldn’t be unlike you… But.” Footsteps retreated. The phone cord went lax beneath the door.

And with that, any hope he had of calling the police was gone.

Realizing the gravity of his situation, Alex scrambled away from the door, heading towards the far corner of the room. There had to be a way out of here—and if there wasn’t, he’d find another way—a weapon, something, anything. If David found a way in here, there was no doubt in Alex’s mind that David would kill him. And it wouldn’t be quick either; he’d make it hurt.

There was a window above his bed. He could try jumping out of it, but it was long way down. If David didn’t kill him, the fall certainly would.

He could yell.

He could scream at the top of his lungs. The neighbors would surely hear him, especially this late at night when everything was so quiet… But David was agitated, unpredictable; he might panic and kill Alex without a second thought. He’d be dead before anyone made it to the front door.

There had to be another way, something he wasn’t thinking of.

Come on, Alex! Think, think, think!

It was all beginning to weigh on him. He cursed himself for not leaving when he had the chance.

The floorboards creaked on the opposite side of the door.

A key was inserted into the doorknob.

Alex’s heart picked up in pace, his breathing becoming shallow and uneven. He felt frozen in place, and David was pushing into the room before he could think to move.

“Alex,” he said tersely. He stopped in the doorway, blocking Alex’s only way out. A dark look overcame his features. “It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Alex’s heart was in his throat. He swallowed, grasping for the right words. “What do you mean?”

“This. We don’t have to let Juliet come between us anymore. You don’t have to do this.”

Alex tried to smile, as though he wasn’t effectively cowed. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, taking a step back. The back of his legs hit the bed. “Everything is fine. We’re fine… Aren’t we?”

“You tell me. I think you’re hiding something. What is it?”

Alex shrugged. “I don’t—”

“Stop lying to me!”

Alex flinched. He wasn’t used to David raising his voice at him; it was so unlike the quiet, calm passivity Alex had grown used to over the years. He half-expected David to lash out at him, and when the hit didn’t immediately come, it broke something inside him.

David was unperturbed. He paced a short distance back and forth, his hands clenched into fists at his side, before stopping abruptly. With a sigh, he said, “Oh, Alex.” He closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You never learn.”

Alex didn’t know what to do. Every possible decision seemed like a bad decision.

The decision was made for him.

David regained his composure and stepped closer to him. It took everything in Alex not to pull away from or him, or to flinch when David gently—no, lovingly—caressed his cheek. Breathe in, breathe out. Stronger than the urge to run away was his desire to come out of this alive. Even if it meant— meant that—

No. He couldn’t think like that.

His heart pounded in his chest. He willed himself to stay still as David brushed the hair away from his face. Alex tilted his chin up to meet his eye.

It was a mistake. Blue eyes pierced into him, staring in abject adoration. He’d seen that look before, but it was never directed at him. At Juliet, maybe, but never Alex. It felt almost too intimate. Alex shifted beneath his touch, like an animal caught in a trap.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted you,” David murmured. “I’ve wanted you for so long… but you’ve always been so far away.”

Alex swallowed, unsure how to respond. He could feel David’s breath fanning his face hotly, sending a chill down his spine.

“Are you afraid of me, Alex?”

Alex shook his head. “No,” he lied, even as a spike of fear shot through him. Even as his fingernails bit into his palm, trying to conceal the trembling.

David’s hand fell from his cheek, sliding down until it pressed against his throat. The pressure was gentle at first, just a threat. And then it wasn’t. His fingers tightened, pressing hard until it was difficult to breathe. He gasped for breath, but none came. Alex grabbed him by the wrist and tried to pull him off, but he couldn’t, it only made David’s grip tighten; he was too strong. He kicked out at him, aiming and missing, and it hurt him, he needed air.

Dav—” he tried, but the name died in his throat. A strangled choking noise came out instead. Please, he wanted to beg.

Just when he thought he was going to pass out, David released him.

He collapsed on the floor, gasping for breath and clutching at his throat, not daring to look up. He knew what he would see: someone he’d once considered a friend, towering over him, looking down at him with adoration and obsession, a possessiveness over Alex he had no right to.

“You’re not as tough as you think you are,” David sneered. “Come on, look at you. It’s pathetic. Hard to believe anyone would want you like this.”

“At least they—” Alex began, “they act— actually—”

Unable to finish, he shook his head and coughed.

He coughed and coughed and coughed, until it was too painful to even breathe. Every breath grated against his sore throat. He wanted to curl into himself and hide, get away from him, but he couldn’t. His limbs felt shaky and weak. He knew that if he tried to get away now, he wouldn’t get very far. David would be on him in one second flat. And then what? He was clearly deranged, and Alex wasn’t confident in his ability to defend himself against him, not when he was doubled over in pain.

His hair curled in front of his eyes. He had to think, and quick.

David crouched down and balled his hands in Alex’s shirt, roughly yanking him up onto his knees, until they were face to face.

“Tell me, Alex,” he said calmly. “What were you going to do with all that money, huh? Take it and leave? I saw the tickets. You were going to leave me here, weren’t you?”

“No, I—”

“Don’t lie to me!” David yelled, spit landing on Alex’s face. He shook Alex by the shoulders, and the room began to spin. He didn’t fight back this time; his head hurt too much, and all he wanted was for this to be over. He was grateful to be kneeling, because when David inevitably snapped, he wouldn’t be too far from the floor. “I saw them, Alex,” he continued. “Juliet bought two tickets to Rio. Two. Am I supposed to believe you weren’t going with her?”

Alex tried to hide his surprise. Juliet… was going to Rio? She hadn’t said anything to him about it. He squashed the feeling of hurt that rose in him, thinking she hadn’t trusted him enough to tell him. Not that he could blame her. He would have done the same thing if he were in her situation. He would’ve taken the money and left. But given that she was dead in the other room—and he was still very much alive—he wondered if it was even worth defending her.

“No, I didn’t know!” he answered weakly. “She didn’t tell me either.”

David shoved him and he fell back, landing painfully on his arm. He scrambled to push himself up onto his elbow, staring up at David, all wide eyed.

“I’ll give you one more chance to tell me the truth.”

Before he could even think about it, Alex shook his head frantically. “David, I swear I didn’t kn—!”

Pain. Raw, tingling pain bloomed from his cheekbone, stemming from the spot where David hit him. It sucked the breath right out of him, but his immediate reaction was to hit back. He lunged forward, tackling David to the floor and wrapping his hands around his neck. He pressed down as hard as he could, putting all his weight into it.

It wasn’t enough.

David overpowered him all too easily. He pushed Alex off, and just as Alex was about to stand up and lash out again, David knocked him to the floor. Hard. His head banged against the floor painfully as David crawled on top of him, a knee on either side of him. He pinned Alex’s arms above his head and leaned down, his breath hot against his ear.

“I never should have listened to you,” he sneered. “You’re the reason we’re in this mess.”

“Let me go,” Alex whined, struggling against the iron hold on his wrists. “I said you could have it. I promise I won’t tell—”

David scoffed. “You still don’t get it, do you? This isn’t about the money, it’s about you! You’ve always been dim, but this…” He shook his head. “I don’t know what Juliet saw in you. I thought you were better. I guess I was wrong.”

He tried piecing it together; all the things David could have been upset about. But there were so many, a laundry list of wrongs. Most of them committed in the past couple months. It could have been anything, really.

… Until he remembered David’s behavior towards him earlier, the touching, the obsession, and it all clicked into place. He remembered the feeling of being watched, hearing the thumping in the ceiling, and being mindful of his words. Of him and Juliet, always on edge. He wasn’t entirely unaware of David’s preoccupation with them—specifically with him, Alex.

“Fine, you were right! I lied,” Alex said. “I’m sorry… I was going to leave with her, but I couldn’t go.”

“Why not?” David asked. Then, when he took too long to answer, “Tell me!”

Alex panted. He thought of David and the drill burrowing into his skull—could still feel it twisting against his forehead, the blood welling to the surface—a phantom pain where the scar was.

David would kill him.

Every inch of him trembled with fear, and he was—quite literally—backed into a corner, but he knew what he had to do. “Because I… I wanted you to stay with you,” he choked, not missing the glint in David’s eye. “I still do. I want you, David. I always have.”

David stared at him, searching for any hint of deception. Alex’s heart was beating rapidly in his chest, becoming painful as the silence drew out. Eventually, David said, “Prove it.”

“What?”

Prove it,” he repeated. “I don’t believe you. If you want me as badly as you say you do… then show me.”

The words rang around in his head, replaying over and over again. Prove it. He could do that. He would have to.

“Okay,” Alex said, sounding breathless. Nodding. Still wondering how he was going to convince himself, let alone David—someone he wasn’t even remotely attracted to.

He stared at Alex for a moment longer, and he must have seen what he wanted. The pressure on his wrists lessened and David let him go, falling back on his haunches to watch him. Alex just lay frozen on the floor, trying to calm down. Breathe, he thought, and forced himself to sit up.

Only a couple feet stood between them. David’s face was shadowed in the darkness. He wasn’t sure if that made it better or worse, not being able to see him fully. But he was grateful for the darkness; it meant that David couldn’t see the way his hands trembled when he reached for him, pulling him in for a slow, cautious kiss.

That David reciprocated.

David’s tongue swept into his mouth, and Alex had never felt more disgusted with himself. It was too late to turn back now though. It may not have been the consensual, loving kiss he pretended it was, but David believed it, and that was all that mattered. He groaned low in his throat, relishing the moment. His hands tangled in Alex’s hair, fingers stroking and pulling at his scalp.

His movements were becoming more forceful and demanding, painful even, as the kiss deepened. David kissed him until Alex's lips were pink and raw, barely pulling away before swooping back in, encompassing Alex with his taste.

Alex wanted nothing more than to wipe the saliva from his lips. Just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, David pulled away. “On the bed,” he instructed.

“Um—yeah. Okay.”

The words didn’t register with Alex. At least, not right away. It was easier to cooperate if he didn’t think about it too much.

And then they did register with him.

His heart hammered as he fell back onto the pillows, lying flat on the small twin bed. David’s predatory gaze had tracked his movements, still watching him now, as he slowly advanced towards the bed. He shrugged off his coat and tossed it aside.

That’s when it hit him: this was really happening, he was coming over, he was going to touch him. Alex thought he might be sick. He had to look away.

“What’s wrong? This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”

“Nothing,” Alex denied, unconvincingly. He thought he tasted blood in his mouth and relaxed his jaw.

David sat on the edge of the bed beside him, placing a heavy hand on the inside of Alex’s thigh; low, towards his knee. It took everything in him not to flinch or jerk away. He simply untied the laces of Alex’s shoes, removed them, and tossed them aside, next to his abandoned coat. A moment later, David moved to sit on top of him, straddling his legs.

Alex didn’t resist when David’s hands slipped beneath his shirt or into the waistband of his joggers—pulling them off, exposing him, until there was nothing protecting him except his underclothes.

He couldn’t stand the way David was looking at him. Every move he made was slow and deliberate, and meant to torment Alex in the worst way possible. It made him sick with dread. The anticipation was almost as bad as the impending act itself. The thought alone made a shiver run down his spine.

And then David’s lips were on him again, eliciting a surprised gasp from Alex. His mouth was warm against Alex’s neck as he sucked on the soft skin below his jaw, gently, trailing lower until he reached his collarbone.

Alex clawed at the bed sheets, desperate for some sense of control, and not knowing where else to put his hands. Touching David wasn’t an option. Closing his eyes provided some relief, though it was of little comfort. He could pretend it was someone else’s breath against his skin, someone else’s weight holding him down. It proved difficult though. The man atop him still smelled like David. Still moaned like David… Was David, a murderer—

David ground his hips against his thigh. Even with his eyes closed, it was difficult to ignore his friend attacker’s apparent… arousal, a feeling Alex couldn’t reciprocate, even if he tried. The best he could hope for was that David wouldn’t notice his lack of enthusiasm, let alone try to turn him on.

Of course, he was never so lucky.

David’s hand slid from Alex’s stomach to his groin— causing gooseflesh to break out across his skin—and began to rub him through his pants. Nothing came of it. After a couple minutes or so, he wasn’t even half-hard. Not that he minded. His partner on the other hand…

It was bearable enough, until it wasn’t.

“Come on, Alex,” David taunted, agitation clear in his voice. “I thought you would be more excited… but you can’t even look at me, can you?” And with that, he gripped his other hand around Alex’s throat and squeezed, yelling, “Look at me!”

The shock of it was enough to rouse him, sending a spike of adrenaline through him. His hand instinctively shot up to catch David’s wrist, trying to pull him off, but it was pointless. He stared wide eyed at the man fuming above him, who had a manic look in his eye. The pain in his throat was unparalleled.

“That’s better,” he said, releasing his throat. “You could at least try to enjoy this, you know. I’m beginning to think you’re being difficult on purpose. Do I need to punish you?”

Punish? Alex didn’t want to know what that entailed, bur nor did he want to participate in his… whatever this was.

Alex saw what happened to Juliet. She was on the floor outside this room—limp, broken, blood staining the floor. Unless he wanted to share the same fate as her, he needed to take drastic measures. So, he did what he considered to be the safest option, swallowing his repulsion, and pushing past his fear.

“No— please,” Alex begged. “I’ll be good for you! I promise. See…” He canted his hips upwards, pressing himself against the undeniable hardness in David’s trousers. It was easier said than done. Even as he rubbed against him, Alex struggled to become aroused. The heat was there, slowly pooling inside him, but not rising quickly enough to bring him to hardness. Lingering tendrils of fear stamped it out of him.

With a low whine, he clawed at David’s shoulders, pulling him down to slot their lips together.

As David’s warm mouth engulfed him, Alex slid his hand down the length of his body, stopping when he reached the button on David’s trousers. It was easy to undo; and without thinking about it too much, he slipped his hand inside and palmed David’s cock. David let out a surprised gasp, bucking into his hand. He continued to stroke the length of his shaft, keeping the pressure light and even, feeling pre-come when he thumbed the head.

Maybe if he was lucky, this would be enough. David would finish, come from this alone, never having touched Alex. Maybe he would leave him be.

But that was wishful thinking, of course. It wasn’t enough.

David broke away from him, a string of saliva falling between them. He rested his forehead against Alex’s. “Stop,” he breathed, catching his wrist. “Stop! I want to finish inside you.”

Dread filled his stomach. His heart clenched at the thought of having David inside him, his hole stretching around his girth. As stoic as Alex liked to think he was, he’d never taken a man before. He’d been intimate with a handful of men—had let them touch and caress him, coax soft moans from his lips—but never had he allowed one to breach him. The rising panic threatened to drown him. He whimpered, started shaking his head, but David was already leaning back.

Paralyzed, voice caught in his throat; Alex was helpless. He watched as David removed his own clothes, revealing endless stretches of skin. Never once looking away from Alex. Lust radiated from within him, a dark gleam in his eye.

He smiled.

“Look at you. So pliant, so perfect. Laid out for me like a whore.”

Tears began to well in Alex's eyes. Whether from shame or fear, he couldn’t be certain.

The weight on the bed shifted. Alex looked away, facing the rain spattered window instead. He watched the raindrops slowly slide down the glass, trying to focus on the gentle rain rather than the fingers pulling down his underwear. A shiver ran through him as his bare skin was exposed to the cool air. Large, heavy hands grasped his hips.

It was the feeling of David’s breath fanning his abdomen that knocked him out of his reverie. He sucked and licked at the sensitive skin between his hipbones, slowly moving lower. The heat Alex had felt earlier was spreading, becoming hotter with each press of David's lips—so close yet so far away. He found himself leaning into the warmth. When David reached the line of pubic hair, he trailed upward again, stopping to suck on Alex’s hipbone.

Almost as abruptly as he’d started, David pulled away. But he didn’t go far. Within a matter of seconds, his mouth was on him again, lower this time—kissing the head of Alex's cock.

Alex startled.

If he hadn’t been turned on before, he certainly was now. All the blood in his body rushed to meet David’s tongue, craving the heat and wetness it provided. His body was alight with sensation. David teased him, tonguing the base of his cock, and licking a line up the shaft that had Alex curling his toes. It was too little and too much all at once.

Alex bit his lip, determined not to make noise—not to beg—as his body stiffened and ached for more.

“Just say the word,” David said, voice muffled. “I’ll do it.”

“No,” he replied immediately, shaking his head. His hands gripped the sheets on either side of him. He was holding his breath; squeezing his eyes shut so tightly he saw stars. David took the opportunity to lean in, swirl his tongue around the head of his cock. A whimper. And then, “Oh fuck, David… Please!”

Later, he would hate himself for how quickly he caved. But right now he didn’t care. David’s mouth sank down on him, engulfing him from tip to root. And when that wasn’t enough, his hips rocked into David’s mouth. He covered his mouth with his forearm, biting into himself, trying to stifle his cries.

David’s head continued to bob up and down, bringing him further to the edge.

The worst part was that Alex wanted it. He wanted David’s mouth to suckle the sensitive flesh and swallow him whole, guide him to the edge of release. He knew that if he were to look down, he’d see the outline of his cock in David’s cheek. His lips would be wet and swollen around his girth, and his nose buried in his crotch, breathing in Alex’s musk.

The image alone had him trembling.

Just as his pleasure reached its crest, David pulled back, preferring to use his hands rather than his mouth. David rubbed him until Alex felt his release shoot through his cock, spilling across his abdomen.

It was finally over.

Alex panted for breath. He looked down. His skin, appearing pale in the moonlight, was covered in his own release. Which wouldn’t have mattered, except it was David who did this to him—made him writhe in ecstasy only minutes after murdering their flat mate in cold blood. A few moments had passed, and already, the evidence felt sticky and gross against his skin.

David swiped the back of his hand across his mouth, lips still swollen and wet with saliva. His eyes were trained on Alex.

Nausea curdled his stomach. He was going to be sick.

Feeling an unexpected urgency, Alex tried to push David off. He needed to get out of here, but David wouldn’t let him, stopping him before he could swing his legs from the bed.

“Let me go!” Alex yelled. He swung a fist in David’s direction, hoping to hit any part of him, make him back off—and contacted hard flesh. The hit was hard enough to take David by surprise, providing Alex with a chance to get away.

Alex's legs felt weak and shaky as he scrambled out from under him.  Fortunately, he wouldn’t have to go that far—he only needed to make it to the toilet, and he’d figure out a plan from there.

He made it all the way to the door before David caught him, catching him by the arm and tackling him to the floor. He landed painfully on his knees. David’s fingers clawed at him to stay down, but Alex was persistent; he wasn’t going down without a fight. Even with David latching onto his back, trying to subdue him, Alex fought with everything he had to buck him off. He elbowed him, squirmed beneath his hands, and tried to bite him. None of it seemed to help.

Until David faltered.

His grip on Alex’s arms slacked. Alex was able to shake loose and crawl out from under him, but any hope he’d had died a second later. David caught his arm again, pulled him close, lock his hands around his arm and—

Alex wailed.

He went limp into David’s arms, tears already prickling his eyes. The pain was too much to bear.

From somewhere nearby, a lifetime away, so quiet and so loud: “Just give up, Alex! It’s over.”

The words were drowned out in all the other sensations. Too thick for him to make sense of. He couldn’t hear anything over the whooshing in his ears or the pounding of his heart. A sharp, agonizing pain had shot up his arm, stemming from his elbow, where David had split the bone in half. A litany of “Stop, stop, stop—” spilled from his lips. Guttural and raw. Broke up by harsh gasps, an occasional “Please” as he sobbed, begging for the pain to go away.

And just like that, any pretense of tenderness was dropped. David hauled him across the room and shoved him onto the bed, knowing he would be unable to catch himself. He screeched in pain as he landed face first into the sheets.

Now that resisting was out of the question, there was nothing Alex could do to stop him. He simply cried into his pillow as David crawled onto the bed, forced his legs apart, and settled between his thighs.

“Hush now,” David said. “Don’t be such a cry-baby. You’re the one that wanted this, remember? If it was up to me, I would’ve taken the money and left you alone. But no, you just had to get involved.”

“I’m sor—!”

His hand pressed painfully around the back of Alex’s neck, cutting him off. “No. I don’t want your apologies.”

Alex whined pitifully as his neck was released, the weight lifted, and he could breathe again. Sort of. It was difficult with his face buried in the pillow and the choking sobs stealing his breath.

“I wanted you to enjoy this, but if you insist on being difficult…” David shifted behind him, doing who knows what. It was better not to think about it. Though, he doubted anything he imagined could be worse than this. “What? Nothing to say now?” he taunted.

Alex gritted his teeth. He felt a warm hand sliding up his back, feeling the ridges of his spine. It lowered again to rub at his tailbone, and then it was gone. His relief was short lived. David leaned over him, pulling something out of Alex’s bedside table. A moment later, he heard the click of a bottle cap, and it all came into stark clarity.

His blood froze in his veins.

With his arm as injured as it was, there was little Alex could do to ward him off. Even the slightest movement would cause a hot, searing pain to radiate up his arm. He could try to squirm away, kick out, verbally attack—but it would only cause him more pain. It wasn’t worth it, he decided. Not without a plan to incapacitate David first.

“Shh, calm down.”

Alex hadn’t realized he was whimpering.

Listening to the sound of something slick, of skin rubbing against itself, his entire body tensed. He knew what was happening—what was going to happen to him—but part of him lived in the darkness of denial. He didn’t want to believe that David was lubing himself up, but he knew, realistically, that was exactly what he was doing.

He could imagine it now, a phantom pain inside him: David’s length, sliding into him with no danger to himself, but ripping Alex’s insides in half.

It was going to hurt; that much was certain.

Just as he’d expected, David didn’t prepare him. He didn’t show the same consideration for Alex’s hole as he had for his own cock, and the knowledge of it sent a fresh wave of panic through Alex, strengthening when he felt David’s hands spreading him open. The blunt head of David's cock pressed against his entrance.

“No, wait!” he cried, lifting his head up. “David, please—!”

Too late.

His hole burned as it was breached by David’s cock, feeling the warm, slimy head barge into him. His walls clenched around the intrusion.

Distantly, he knew it was better to relax, but he couldn’t find it within himself to calm down. The pressure only increased as David slid further inside him, slowly, a sensation akin to being split open. He bit his lip to stop himself from crying out, but it was an effort in futility; he couldn’t stop the quiet whimpers.

David’s fingers twisted in his hair, pressing his face into the pillow, and effectively muffling his cries. “Oh, Alex,” he moaned. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this. You feel so good. So tight. Don’t… Don’t ruin this for me.”

He released Alex’s hair, sliding his hand down to settle on Alex’s hip. The tips of his fingers pressed into him, hard and claiming, no doubt going to appear as bruises later on. Alex shuddered when David’s hips pressed against him, his cock now fully sheathed inside him.

David stopped. Whether it was for Alex’s sake or his own, he didn’t know—but a moment later, he lowered himself, looping his arms around his waist, and pressing his chest against Alex’s back. His lips ghosted over the shell of Alex’s ear, whispering, “Beg.”

Alex’s heart skipped a beat.

“… What?”

“Beg me to fuck you.”

“No!” he blurted, fighting against the soreness in his throat. The sheets were wet against his cheek. “No. Please, I can’t—”

Without warning, David’s hand clamped around his injured arm and twisted. He screamed in pain, so loudly he was sure the neighbors would hear it—but David’s hand clasped around his mouth to quiet him.

Beg.”

While his arm still throbbed with pain, the hand around his mouth loosened, snaking around to latch onto the back of his neck instead.

Alex swallowed the lump in his throat, breathing wetly. A tear slid down his cheek. “Please,” he begged, so quietly the words were barely audible. “Please fuck me, David. I… I need to feel you inside me.”

David groaned. He pressed against Alex, skin against skin, and nuzzled against the back of his neck—making his hair stand up in alarm, and a shiver run down his spine.

Slowly, he began to move.

Alex tensed as David's cock dragged out of him, wincing at the tight, painful stretch of his walls. It was only made worse when he pushed back into him, no gentler than his entrance had been. His hands touched and grabbed at Alex in ways that made him squirm.

Under different circumstances—with more preparation, an uninjured arm, a different partner—he might have enjoyed it. He regretted having his first time be with David. Regretted having to be with David at all. Of all the people it could have been, it just had to be a murderous psychopath. Of course.

“You’re so good for me, Alex,” he moaned. The bed creaked with each thrust of his hips, the headboard banging into the wall. Alex tried desperately to tune it out, but each thrust was more pointed than the last. “My own little whore.”

He felt his own arousal building within him. Hot shame spread over him, and he was thankful that no one, not even David, could see his embarrassed, red-tinged face. Sweat began to bead across his skin, dampening the nape of his neck. David panted hotly against his ear.

It was horrible.

It was agonizing and wicked.

But it was also…

His body wanted David. There was no denying the hardness between his legs, no matter how unwarranted it may have been.

David slammed into him, and his cock rubbed against the sheets, giving Alex the friction he desperately desired. He couldn’t help it; couldn’t hold back the choked moan any longer, feeling utterly mortified but unable to stop himself. It felt good. A distraction for the pain in his arm. He pushed his hips back to meet David’s thrusts.

Something wet dripped down his thighs.

It should concern him. He knew that. But with arousal clouding his mind, and his eyelids feeling so heavy, all he could think to do was give in. After all, it was less painful than resisting.

He was tired of fighting.

“I want to hear you,” David said. “Say my name.”

Alex sucked in a shaky breath. The cock inside him began to slow down, pulling out just slightly before pushing back in. So, so slowly.

A hand traveled down the length of his body, gently caressing him. David’s lips pressed against his skin—the shell of his ear, the crook of his shoulder, the nape of his neck. He said quietly, “Come on. Be good for me.”

A shiver ran down his spine. And without warning, David's soft fingers wrapped around Alex's sensitive cock.

“David,” he gasped, arching into him.

It felt good. Too good.

“Louder. Juliet can’t hear you.”

“David!” It was half sob and half plea as his body went cold with remembrance: the knife in David’s hand, Juliet sprawled on the floor, the blood pooling around her still warm corpse. And at the end of it all, Alex offered him his body. He rewarded him with the intimacy he never deserved, had kissed him, and told him he loved him. All because he would rather lie down than face the man he feared. Was that all it took? Just corner Alex like an animal, and he’ll do whatever you want him to? It must be true.

He had an opportunity to flee, and he didn’t take it.

Thunder boomed outside. It was loud enough to rattle the room around them. Alex startled, then whimpered when pain flared in his arm.

“It’s all right,” David reassured, brushing the curtain of hair away from his face. “I’m here. Why don’t we try something else?”

Alex didn’t want to try something else; he wanted this to be over and done with. He tried to shake his head no, but David was already pulling out.

David shifted on the bed. He put his hands around Alex’s hips and guided him onto his back. The movement jostled his arm worse than before. He cried out as pain lanced through him, but his cries fell on deaf ears. David was already working reinsert himself inside Alex. He could feel the leaking head against his hole, slippery and wet. It didn’t matter that Alex was wailing in pain and unable to catch his breath; that he was dizzy and trembling with fear.

With one smooth glide, David’s cock sunk into him, all the way to the hilt. Alex’s toes curled. He tried to renew his struggle, kick out, squirm away—

But David pressed his body against him and pinned him to the bed, his weight alone enough to hold Alex down. He kissed Alex, momentarily quieting his cries as he rocked into him.

The tears wouldn’t stop this time.

For what seemed like an eternity, David forced his way into him. His movements were rough and possessive. Any efforts he’d made to please Alex were quickly forgotten, not caring that he was hard and throbbing, begging for relief. And just when Alex would get his hopes up, thinking it was almost over, David pounded into him even harder, being anything but gentle.

Alex’s hiccuping sobs only seemed to spur him on further.

“Open your eyes.”

He complied.

“Keep them open. I want you to look at me when I fill you with—with my come.” Despite the apparent lust in his voice, David was staring down at him without those dead, emotionless eyes. It made it more difficult to look at him, knowing what kind of person monster was staring back at him. He bucked wildly into Alex, skin slapping against skin. The bed squeaked in time with his thrusts.

Then, miraculously, he stilled.

Through wet, blurry lashes, Alex watched as David’s mouth gaped and his eyes rolled back. His cock pulsed inside him, pumping his thick, hot seed inside Alex.

Alex shuddered. He didn’t like the way it felt—the warmth, nor the fluid coating his walls. David collapsed on top of him as the last of his climax emptied into him, not bothering to pull out yet. His skin was sticky against his own.

“I wish you were a woman,” David mused, “so I could leave a piece of me with you… Forever. Because I know what you’re like. You’d make threats, of course, but you wouldn’t do anything about it—you’d let it fester inside you until you didn’t have a choice anymore. Even if you gave it away, you would be swollen with my child for months. Every time you looked down, or in the mirror, you would see it. A constant reminder of your failure.”

The thought of it made Alex’s stomach churn.

The longer David was on top of him, the more disgusted with himself he began to feel. David had been inside him. His cock had entered him, over and over again, deriving pleasure from his pain. Alex could have done more. He knows, deep in his bones, that he didn’t try hard enough to stop him. He could have kicked harder, ran faster, grabbed something.

But he didn’t. He moaned in pleasure. And now he was suffering for it.

You’re smarter than him, Juliet had said. She was wrong.

Look at him now. All he wanted was to do was crawl under the blankets and hide, to be alone. Even the rain had stopped beading down his window, leaving nothing but darkness in its wake.

If Juliet were alive, could she look at him now—a beaten and bruised wreck—and still think he was worth loving?

… Could anyone?

“I know you don’t love me, Alex. You never did.”

Dragged from his reverie, Alex looked over to where David was standing. He was halfway across the room, bending to pull his trousers on.

He continued, “Try not to take this experience too personally, all right? I’ll try not to either.”

Alex opened his mouth to speak, but the words lodged themselves in his throat and he could only manage a faint whimper, low in the back of his throat. David was mostly dressed now. From the looks of it, he was going to leave him here, alone, limp and injured on his bed like a broken doll—just the way he’d wanted.

For some reason, being left alone didn’t feel as good as he thought it would.

He shifted to stare up at the ceiling, looking at the small holes David had drilled. He heard a belt fasten into place. Footsteps retreated from the room. Down the hall, the front door clicked shut.

And all the while, even after David was long gone and hours had passed, Alex laid frozen on top of the sheets, silent as the tears dripped onto his pillow.

Alex limped out of his bedroom.

After several minutes—or hours, he wasn’t sure—had passed and it was clear that David wasn’t coming back, he finally mustered the strength to sit up. He thought that would be the most challenging part: getting his blood moving again, moving and getting cleaned, rather than falling asleep.

Until he tried walking.

He clutched his broken arm to his chest. It had long turned numb, and he wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He wasn’t sure he cared either way, but he wished it would hurt. At least if he were in pain, he could focus on something other than the fluids sticking to his skin. David’s release was cold and tacky where it dripped down his thigh, a cruel reminder every time he moved.

He didn’t bother to turn on the lights.

The water was still cold when he climbed into the tub. He watched it pour from the faucet, cold and then warm and, eventually, scalding hot.

He was alone. It was just him and Juliet’s cooling corpse. If he wanted to cry, no one would know.

No one would have to hear his sobs echoing off the tiles.
