Notes:

Evening lovelies, this is my last story for 2024. Including this one I managed to post 10 stories this year.

There is only 400 - 500 or so word left to add. I will do that later in the day, when I'm not quite so tired.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Date: 23/06/24
Time: 2:45 pm - 4:42 pm

Billie knew she wasn’t the only one in the Whalers who thought Daud was getting weak. She’d thought it for a while since she’d found out about Blue and Daud started to change when he started working with the Lord Protector - Corvo Attano who Daud would do anything for.

Billie had no idea why Daud did whatever the Lord Protector asked of him. Billie didn’t particularly like what she had learned about Blue or the effect he had on Daud.

He was constantly getting injured, and Daud was often in a bad mood because of it. He refused to tell anyone about Blue, more than they already witnessed. Billie unfortunately hadn’t been able to find out any information on who Blue was, more than the little they had figured out over the last several years. It wasn’t much.

Daud, Ander, Rinaldo, Mikel and later Javier had changed after meeting The Raven. Several of the Novices also mentioned him. Daud had gone out of his way to help The Raven and went to meet Attano whenever he called.

Everything would be better without the Lord Protector. It’d only gotten worse since Daud killed the Empress.

It took several months to plan how they were going to kill the Lord Protector. It was far too easy to get him near enough to Rudshore. He hadn’t recovered enough from his time in Coldridge to pose a real threat to them, nor had he gotten good enough with his Void-given gift.

The Whalers attacked Death, too many of them for him to fight easily.

Daud, strangely, wasn’t fighting, he seemingly couldn’t. Though he did struggle when two of her Whalers grabbed him, preventing him from stepping in and stopping them from attacking Death. The Arcane Bond tightened as Billie knocked Death’s mask off.

“Billie, stop. You don-” Daud choked when one of Billie’s Whaler’s held a dagger over his heart. He stiffened, Death - Corvo Attano, the Lord Protector eyes started glowing a bright blue and gold. He looked like he wanted to kill them.

“Get your hands off him,” Attano growled, there was something inhuman about the Lord Protector’s voice, Billie paid him no mind. Billie stabbed the Lord Protector in the back while he distracted with Daud.

Daud let out a choked sound, blood bubbled up and dripped down his chin. His eyes were glowing a bright red and gold. It took Billie several minutes to register Daud was saying something, she couldn't understand what it was though.

A man and women appeared, they looked furious, they didn’t look the least bit human. Attano stumbled towards Daud, he jerked away from her Whalers and caught Attano before he hit the ground.

“No, no, no, no, please don’t. You can’t,” Daud begged, pressing his hand against the wound in Attano’s chest, tears started to drip down his face. Billie had never seen Daud cry before, he looked panicked.

She wasn’t sure what happened but Daud started to sob and pressed a bloody kiss to Attano head. Billie stumbled when The Outsider appeared next to Daud and Attano. He looked even more terrifying than The Abbey said. He looked absolutely furious.

The space around them glowed, reality started to twist.

Three Days Before The Attacked

Billie wasn't sure what happened, or why Daud looked so furious when she returned to Rudshore after finalizing the final details about the attack on the Lord Protector. Daud was deeply angry about something and like he was contemplating killing someone.

“If anything happens to Corvo Attano, your life is forfeit.” Daud growled and for a few terrifying seconds, he didn’t looked at all human, his teeth and nails were pointed and looked sharp enough to easily slice someone to pieces.

He very much looked like he wanted to kill them. His eyes were glowing a bright red and gold. It was highly unnerving.

“Why?” one of Billie’s team demanded, the way he turned to look at him was unnatural, she shrank in on herself when he turned to look at her. He looked very unfriendly.

“Because he's my Linked. You will not only anger The Outsider but Dunwall as well and he's plenty angry at present.” Daud stated. Galia, Adelaide, Misha, Javier, Ander, Mikel and Rinaldo didn’t look the least bit surprised.

Billie had never been scared of Daud, nor understood why everyone else was scared of him even if it worked in their favour, but if this was what everyone saw when they met the Knife of Dunwall, she didn’t blame them for being absolutely terrified.

Billie was startled when she realised, she couldn’t access the Arcane Bond. Daud didn’t look the least bit sorry as he used Pull and wrapped black rope around her and the whalers working with him and dumped them into one of the refinery tanks and locked it.

20 Minutes Later

Daud locked the door to his office and Transversed to the upper floor and dropped onto his bed, finally allowing him to feel the shock, anger and dread that come from learning Billie had killed Corvo.

The Outsider had turned back time. It wasn’t the first time this had happened. Far from it, it somehow never got easier, there was something different about this time. It’d hurt worse than the other times.

He closed his eyes and buried his head in the pillow as he remembered what Corvo had said over the bond as he died. He felt the Bond shattering, tearing at his mind and sanity. Daren had wanted to kill Billie for what she had done to Corvo.

He felt numb. He wanted to scream but didn’t have the voice. Billie threatened him in order to distract Corvo long enough for her to sneak up on him and stab him in the back. Billie had no idea what kind of power they were playing with.

He and Corvo had always been protective of each other, even when they were younger, they were even more protective of each other now. He knew the Talisman was the reason he didn’t remember.

At least he knew why he could read Corvo so well. He knew Zander would be horrified when he found out how Corvo was treated. He desperately wanted Corvo. He was startled when a swirling portal appeared.

He was stumbling through the portal before his brain could fully catch up with what his body.
