stop this lovesick melody

Summary:

The mattress sinks with Rinne’s weight. A hand taps the centre of his chest, palm pressing against the silver of his necklace and pushes him against the bed frame. Two pillows support Rinne’s fall, and his body catches Nazuna.

There should be discernible features that come with Nazuna’s silhouette, but it’s dark and grim in this rented-out apartment bedroom. Uneven blond hair, ruby eyes, and a focused stare; a face to remind him of a certain name and the ringing of a person’s voice. A shadow- nothing. Nothing is what Rinne sees, nothing but mere uncertainty and the feeling of someone straddling him.

Notes:

if you ask me, i don't believe rinne or nazuna are sex driven. like, at all. it's not something they value in a relationship as non-sexual intimacy and quality time are what i believe they appreciate the most. i also don't believe either of them would be driven to have sex with a "look-alike" in order to rid of the anguish that comes with jealousy/heartbreak. it's just. not in their blood. however, i wanted to explore(?) a scenario or three where they do since dynamics are fun to work with and all. what would they think? why would they do it? what if they found each other? what's there to lose? to gain? if they were to share their story, what would they omit? what would become of them?

i am cringe but free ( words of an entity whose ulterior motive is to put rinnazu into impossible situations ).

Chapter 1: it's just sex

Chapter Text

“Is there anythin’ ya’ ain’t comfortable with doin’?”

Shirt. Off. Abandoned. Stomach- skin. Flushed. Muscle, muscle, muscle. Belly button. Pants. Gone. It’s all haste, haste, hasty. Time has only seconds to lose; Rinne and Nazuna want to lose it all. This impulsive pact might be the worst/best decision they’ve ever made.

Rinne hooks his thumbs into the elastic of his boxers, stretching the waistband back, welcoming the cool air with a nervous smile. He can’t look Nazuna in the eye like this, not when he’s stripping himself nude. It’s different from when they were bonding hours ago: an atmosphere isolated from the sadness they bumped into with each other at the ES dormitory. But, orders are orders. He wasn’t born to follow them but for tonight, Rinne will listen.

Nazuna observes, and shivers. Words don’t leave his throat. So much for being nonchalant.

Good. It heightens the illusion.

Nazuna works to tug his sweater over his head. It’s tossed aside, landing by the pile that is Rinne’s jacket and other miscellaneous articles of clothes. An undershirt is flung across the room shortly after. Jeans. Underwear. A hitch in breath, and his hand reaches for Rinne’s jaw.

A finger traces the bone, following the curve of his chin as Nazuna traps his face in between his thumb and pointer. His touch is hesitant: firm, but distant. Fitting for strangers. He can’t help but give Rinne’s cheeks a little squish, something to lighten the mood, and he feels the way Rinne’s expression stretches to smile. It’s stupid. This is stupid. Nazuna reflects one back, closed.

“Ya’ still haven’t answered my question, ya’ know,” Rinne mumbles, tone raspy and soft. His hand travels up the pop of Nazuna’s hip, finding the top of his head to rest against. Nazuna leans into his palm, allowing his eyes to close for a second. It doesn’t feel right. “Just wanna be sure.”

So considerate… It’s a good trait. Rinne’s a good man. That’s not what everyone says, is it? Nazuna purses his lips into a thin line, meeting his gaze. Blue. The blue in Rinne’s eyes is a lovely shade. Staring; waiting; analyzing. The attention and awareness wears him out, just a bit. What they decided on tonight shouldn’t be taken too seriously. A thumb brushes over Rinne’s bottom lip, and there’s his answer.

“I don’t kiss on the lips.”

“Yeah?” He cocks his head, smiling wide. There’s a special sort of fire Nazuna can make out in Rinne’s eyes. It doesn’t burn, but flickers. Lightly. Gently. Like flames dancing around the question. A reminder. “Me neither. Best to save that for somethin’ special, like marriage.”

Yeah,” Nazuna echoes, nodding too. It’s all he can do, all he can say. “For marriage, for the people you love… I’m glad we’re on the same page ♪”

What he has with Rinne isn’t remotely close to being cherishable. Hell, they aren’t even friends- just coworkers fighting for themselves in the same industry; people who share a common goal. This is just sex. It’s only sex. The feelings attached don’t revolve around them, but a third party instead. Beyond tonight, those lingering emotions will mean nothing. The lack of a spark they share means nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing

Uuu… I feel like biting. What’s the best place for me to…?” Nazuna loses his voice, hand drawing away from Rinne. His question doesn’t sound right. Too polite. Too formal. Is he overthinking this? It must be the heat of this situation. “ Sorry- Where do you want me to bite?”

“Anywhere below the neck ‘s a good spot,” Rinne shifts his body, tensing once Nazuna leans close into his shoulder. He can feel his breath skimming past his neck. Hot. He nearly freezes. “Crazy:B’s got a live tomorrow night.”

“Leaving a mark there wouldn’t be good, huh?”

Rinne shrugs, “Guess so.”

Such idle talk won’t do anything for them. Rinne knows. It won’t change the outcome of their reality. Nazuna knows that too. They’re here “to get loose” and to have a “good time” (as Rinne put it). Tonight was arranged so they can both forget. Doubt pities Nazuna’s thoughts. If he views this as a job, he should be able to perform it well. Better than thinking of-

Rinne mutes a gasp, and Nazuna can tell he bit into him too hard. From beneath his chest, Rinne trembles, hands hugging Nazuna’s back as nails claw into his skin. Fingers ache, then let go, slipping down to hold his ass. A way to support him; a green light to continue.

He’s pretty handsy, Nazuna thinks, humming in content. He apologizes by kissing that very spot, inching over to nibble at Rinne’s shoulder blade, lapping at the bone. Kisses him, again. Presses another, feeling how Rinne reacts through sucking in a breath, chest rising, falling, and heartbeat pounding. That’s good.

It’s not enough. There’s only so much a bite can do, and a couple of them are enough to leave Rinne panting for something more. Licking down what muscle and skin Rinne has to offer can only provide so much electricity. Any sort of satisfaction would fall static if this is all he does. With a hand, Nazuna taps one of his knees and Rinne responds fast, spreading his legs to give way for the other. He pats him this time, stroking his thumb on his inner thigh to praise him.

Nazuna tucks some of his hair behind his ear, glancing up to catch Rinne’s half-lidded expression. The gloss of his eyes is all Nazuna can make out in this dark, anyway. With how Rinne slumps in a daze, breathing back hitched groans, Nazuna teases the tips of his canines and holds his ankle steady once he flinches.

It isn’t as if Rinne is thinking of him. With the darkness concealing both their faces, it’s easier to play pretend. Nazuna can say the same. It’s selfish to feel this way: to love and desire his best friend who’s dating another man. Having sex, imagining the other, is supposed to be their stress reliever. One night, and it’ll all be over. Like a blink. A snap. A magician’s magic trick. Gone. Nothing more, nothing less.
