You and I stargazing, Intertwining souls

Summary:

Day 2 : March and Stelle stargazing, a dread for the future ensues.
Prompt : Stargazing

Notes:

Here is my offering/entry/fanfiction for Day 2 of StelleMarch Week 2025

This one is a little too short, and I had no idea how to expand it more. (I blame it on my homeworks and stuff, by the way)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“No, no, no. That one looks like a sword. This one is a bow.” Stelle said as she pointed to a constellation and drew a shape of the said weapon to demonstrate her point.
“No way! That looks more like a shield to me.” March retorts.
Their banter was paused as they giggled a moment later.
“You're silly.” March said and playfully punched Stelle's shoulder, which the taller trailblazer responded by poking her cheek.
“And you're silly.” Her action earned a light swat from March.
Stargazing has recently become a routine for both Stelle and March.
It goes like this: March invites (or just straight up dragging) Stelle to stargazing together. One of them will point to a constellation and tell the other what it looks like. The other will refute and say it looks like something else until they get a good laugh out of it.
March’s hand brushes against Stelle’s, the taller intertwines their hands together, and March leans on her.
“Hey, Stelle?” March asks, staring at the stars in the distance.
Stelle follows her gaze, then looks at March. “Yeah?”
“Remember the heliobus that possessed my camera a while back?”
“I remember, what's up?”
“Do you think we'll see them again someday?”
After hearing the question, Stelle takes a deep breath, lightly squeezing March's hand. “Maybe.” She answers with a hint of uncertainty.
March nods, still learning on Stelle.
“Something on your mind?” Stelle asks. March gave her another nod. “Wanna talk about it?”
“Not now.” Was all March said.
And so, they stand next to each other in a peaceful silence for some time.
It was clear to Stelle that March is thinking about her past again. Even though the crew, especially Stelle, has assured March many times about it, the fear and concerned of it will eventually resurface, one way or another.
Stelle woke up with no memories of her past besides her name, but unlike March, at least Stelle now knows that she had a connection with the Stellaron Hunters. On the other hand, March knows nothing, not even her own name. The messenger from the Garden of Recollection even intervenes when March is trying to find her memories. March clearly had a connection with the Remembrance. With their next destination being Amphoreus, which also had some connection with the Remembrance, Stelle just knows they will have that discussion again.
But that is not now.
“Hey, Stelle?”
“Yeah?”
“If I departed from the express one day… Would you still stargaze like this?”
Well, that was too soon.
Stelle does not like where this conversation is going, but as much as she hates it, she answers without hesitation. “I would.”
“Then… You’ll still remember me, right?”
“Of course, I will.” She gives March’s hand a light squeeze.
March squeezes back. “Thanks. I know you told me not to worry, but…” The archer paused for a moment, trying to find a word to describe her feeling before continuing. “I have this kind of bad feeling about Amphoreus, you know?”
“I could tell.” Stelle takes a look at her companion, who now seems to absentmindedly gaze upon the stars.
March closes her eyes, inhales deeply and exhales. She fully shifted her weight onto Stelle, who effectively became her crutch. The taller trailblazer noticed and embraced her tightly. “You're not alone, March. We’ll make it through together, no matter what happens.”
Stelle’s words echo inside March's mind, and before Stelle could react, March returns the embrace.

March had no idea how long they were standing there. As she pulled away, both her and Stelle's stomach growl at the same time.
“I was gonna ask if you're hungry or not, but I guess that answers that.” Stelle said, rubbing the back of her neck.
The action made March giggled.
“Let's go see what Pom-Pom was cooking.”

Bonus point if you know where the title came from :)
