Mornings With You

Summary:

Every morning is a blessing for Yuuri and Viktor, even in their old age. Their relationship has had its ups and downs, but there was no one they would rather be with than each other. And in Yuuri's opinion, lazy mornings have to be some of the best moments of their relationship. This is just one of them.

Work Text:

Yuuri woke up to his husband humming, the sunlight shining into their bedroom, warming up the room just right. He tried to snuggle back into the covers, but as soon as he moved Viktor stopped humming, noticing Yuuri.

"Good morning, moya lyubov," Viktor mumbled into Yuuri's back, kissing his shoulder blades before sitting back up in bed. Yuuri rolled over, groaning at having to wake up. He cheered up some when he saw his lover was naked, at least from the waist up. Yuuri always knew his husband was handsome, but mornings like these always reminded him of that.

The way the sun shone on his husband's lightly toned body was heavenly, still in shape after all these years. Yuuri was a bit chubbier than Viktor, but after so many years with someone as loving and supportive as Viktor, he learned not to care. He still has his insecure moments, but Viktor has shown him countless times just how much he loves him and all his curves.

Yuuri hummed, "G'mornin' Vitya." Viktor smiled lovingly, pushing back his grey hair. It was slightly duller than how it had been in Viktor's youth, but Yuuri loved it. He didn't realize Viktor could get any hotter, but he proved him wrong every day. Tons of people online agreed, and considering Viktor went back to modeling and continued for around 20 years after they both retired from competing, there was plenty of material on the internet about his lovely husband.

He was now dubbed a "silver fox" and the "zaddy of all zaddies", whatever that meant. Phichit had tried to explain it to Yuuri a couple of times, but he had given up after the fourth time didn't succeed. But Yuuri got the point, people online--rightly--thought his husband was attractive.

Viktor smiled at Yuuri and laid back down in their bed, him and Yuuri now face-to-face. They stared lovingly at each other for a bit before Viktor whispered, "You look beautiful this morning, moya lyubov." Yuuri smiled, causing the crinkles around his eyes to crease as he whispered back, "You do too, Vitya." "Today we're going to see Aisha's competition, right?"

Yuuri nodded, "Yeah, I can't wait to see how they do." "They're very talented," Viktor said, a proud glint in his eyes. Aisha was Yurio and Otabek's child, and both Viktor and Yuuri had loved seeing Aisha grow and their career in ballet flourish. Yurio and Otabek had adopted Aisha when they were 6 years old, and had kept them out of the media until they were 16 and able to make the choice on whether they wanted to be posted online or not.

Before then, no one had known that Aisha was Yurio and Otabek's child, only that they were a very talented and successful ballet dancer. Like their parents, Aisha had gotten into ballet at a young age, but unlike Yurio, Aisha had loved it. They had practically begged their parents to let Lilia help train them whenever she and Yakov came to visit.

And now that everything was out in the open, Yuuri and Viktor were able to go to all of Aisha's competitions without having to hide in the back of the theatre. It was amazing. Today was a regional competition, and while it normally wouldn't be too popular, Aisha competing there made a lot more people interested in it.

"I guess we should probably get ready now, huh?" Yuuri said, yawning as he sat up in bed. Viktor agreed, also getting up and going to their closet to pick out their clothes while Yuuri went to the kitchen to make them something for breakfast. Yuuri was typically the one to cook while Viktor did more of the cleaning, as even after all these years Viktor wasn't exactly... the best at cooking.

Yuuri smiled at Makkachin as she waddled slowly into the kitchen, yawning as if she had just woken up. How Makka was still alive after all these years was a mystery, but it was one Yuuri and Viktor were forever grateful for. Makkachin seemed almost immortal, but Yuuri knew that wasn't possible. Totally.

Viktor walked in, dressed, right as Yuuri finished cooking. "Good morning baby," Viktor cooed, kneeling on the ground in front of Makkachin. The poodle was licking Viktor's face, lapping up all of the attention she was getting. "We're going out to eat with them after the competition, right?" Viktor asked looking up at Yuuri, not stopping petting Makkachin.

"Yeah, and the food's ready." "Thank you, my love," Viktor said, smiling as he stood up and kissed Yuuri. They sat down at the table and ate their breakfast, talking about their friends, what was happening online, and more. Later in the day they went and saw Aisha's competition where they got first place, and then spent a lovely dinner with the Plisetsky-Altins. When they got back home in the evening, they changed into PJs and cuddled with Makka on the couch as they watched a movie.

Their life wasn't nearly as fast-paced as it used to be, but they loved every second of it.
