OMGGGG WONYOUNG NEW MUBANK MC?!???!??!?KSFJ;FKAFKAKMD FAWKKKKKK
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
Kim Sunoo, 21 years old, born in Suwon.
A rookie soloist who only entered the K-pop scene last summer, Kim Sunoo skyrocketed to fame thanks to his catchy debut single that went viral on TikTok. Paired with his unique foxy beauty and lovable personality as bright as his blonde hair, Sunoo is on the path to becoming a household name.
He has a tiny little secret though.
Buried deep in the bottom of his Prada bag is a baby pink iPhone. An iPhone with a camera roll full of selfies of a certain bunny-faced girl, the Twitter app logged into a fan account with thousands of followers.
Kim Sunoo is a die-hard fan of Jang Wonyoung.
His admiration began back in high school, when he saw Wonyoung for the first time as a contestant on a popular survival show. From that moment on, he was hooked. His allowance went straight to fan merchandise and bunny-related trinkets that reminded him of the singer. Lunchtimes were spent squealing over fancams that he had already watched dozens of times with his best friends. School nights became prime time for reading fanfiction when he should’ve been studying.
Even after he graduated from high school, when all his friends became too busy with life to keep up with celebrities, when Sunoo became a trainee and was spending twelve gruelling hours a day inside a windowless room, his devotion to the idol never changed. Between dance lessons at the company and late-night commutes home, he still logged into his fan account every day without fail, kept up with every single Wonyoung content religiously, flooded her Instagram comments with heart emojis.
To Sunoo, Wonyoung isn’t just another pretty face.
Her genuine love for performing is what inspired him to start covering K-pop dances, which eventually led to him getting scouted by an entertainment company at a time when he was unsure what to do with his life.
When he grew distant from his childhood friends but wasn’t quite close with the other trainees at his company yet, he found solace in Wonyoung’s encouraging Bubble messages and lessened his loneliness through other like-minded fans on Twitter. When he wanted to give up on being a trainee, her hardworking attitude motivated him to keep going.
After finally debuting as an idol himself, Sunoo always hoped to one day meet Wonyoung and let her know how much joy and happiness she has brought to his life.
Maybe not in the by the way, I have a fan account dedicated to you and my room is plastered in your posters kind of way–he doesn’t want to creep her out. But he hopes to at least be able to show his appreciation within professional boundaries and be a supportive hoobae to the singer.
So far, Sunoo hasn't had much luck. Much to his disappointment, they’ve never had any overlapping comebacks nor been guests on the same shows. They did attend the same end-of-year award show, but even then he couldn’t catch her backstage afterwards because Wonyoung had to rush off to the airport to catch a flight to Japan.
Finally, it seems the stars have aligned for Sunoo. Just two months before his scheduled comeback, it was announced that Wonyoung would be one-half of the new Music Bank MC duo. He had almost dropped his phone when he saw the news, then immediately excused himself from practice for a quick break to do his happy dance silently inside the bathroom.
Today is the big day: the start of promotions for his new single “XO”, kicking off with a backstage interview at Music Bank with none other than the goddess herself. Plus that other MC dude she’s paired with, the figure skater…Park Sungjoon? Or was it Sungho? Sunoo can’t remember his name.
This Park Sung…something is so damn lucky, Sunoo thinks as he swings his feet in excitement, careful to keep his upper body still to not disturb the makeup artist currently swiping glitter across his eyelids. Sigh. Why didn’t they ask him instead?
But right now he has bigger things to worry about–such as how’s he going to greet Wonyoung, what he’s going to say, and most importantly, how to make it through this interview without completely embarrassing himself.
If he can make Wonyoung laugh once, make her day better just by a teeny bit, he’ll count it as a success.

💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
The first time Park Sunghoon lays eyes on Kim Sunoo, he has what can only be described as an identity crisis.
Park Sunghoon, also known as South Korea’s Ice Prince due to his talent on ice combined with princely visuals. His mom likes to joke that it’s because of his naturally cold body temperature and chill personality, calm even before the most important international competitions. His best friends tease that the real reason is due to his frozen heart, coldly rejecting even Korea’s most beautiful faces practically throwing themselves at his feet.
But all of that shatters the moment he walks into the Music Bank waiting room and his eyes land on the boy currently chatting with his MC partner Wonyoung. As if suddenly engulfed in lava, he feels his heart that had been frozen for 22 years thaw at lightning speed, pounding with an intensity he’d never experienced before, not even at the last Olympics. It causes all the blood to rush to his face until he’s practically steaming like a freshly roasted sweet potato. His mouth dries and he feels light-headed and dizzy, no more oxygen left in his lungs because he momentarily forgot how to breathe.
Ice Prince, my ass.
Milky skin and dainty features that remind him of an Arctic fox, glossy plump pink lips that look impossibly soft, and golden curls that shine brighter than a halo–what is an angel doing here in the Music Bank waiting room?
Oh, it is so over for him.
“Oppa?” Wonyoung’s voice finally snaps him out of his trance, motioning him to join them. Sunghoon clears his throat, trying his best to appear composed as he makes his way over to the pair.
He attempts to flash the angel what he hopes is a friendly smile, but from the strange look Wonyoung throws his way and how unnaturally stiff his face feels out of nervousness, Sunghoon guesses he must have failed spectacularly. Wonderful.
“Sunoo, you haven’t met Sunghoon oppa yet, right?” Wonyoung says excitedly. The boy shakes his head, cheeks blooming a baby pink as he shuffles behind Wonyoung shyly. “Say hi! Ignore his RBF, he’s actually not as scary as he looks.”
Sunoo giggles softly, bowing as he mutters a quiet “hello, sunbae-nim”. Just one simple sentence sounds like a symphony to Sunghoon’s ears, making him want to keel over and give in to his failing heart.
“Sunghoon oppa, this is Sunoo. He’s the one who sang that song that was everywhere last summer!” Wonyoung says excitedly, then proceeds to sing a portion of a song Sunghoon indeed remembers even his skating coach humming to in the car.
Sunoo’s blush deepens at that and Wonyoung coos. “Oh oppa, isn’t he so adorable?”
“He is,” Sunghoon agrees and he hopes he sounds nonchalant.
“Like a mozzarella cheese ball, I just want to–” Wonyoung proceeds to imitate stretching a cheese ball, and the figure skater laughs while Sunoo hides his face in his hands, embarrassed by Wonyoung’s sudden cuteness aggression.
“Sunbae, I’m literally older than you,” he whines cutely but the girl ignores him, making grabby motions at his round cheeks. Sunghoon can relate.
“Our MCs and Sunoo-ssi,” the PD suddenly calls. “Please get ready, we’re going live in five!”
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
It’s odd enough that Wonyoung followed him after the ending stage–the idol is typically not one to loiter around after work. She’s usually one foot out of the building the second the cameras cut, citing beauty sleep as her excuse. But Sunghoon decides to humour the girl, responding to her mindless chatter while ignoring the glint in her eyes.
“Sooo…”
Sunghoon may have only known Wonyoung for a month and a half, but he can already tell by the way the younger drags out the single syllable that she wants to say something absolutely unhinged.
She clears her throat and shuffles closer in case Sunghoon didn’t hear, as if he’s not ignoring her on purpose. Nudging his shoulder, the girl tries again. “Sooooo.”
When Sunghoon still doesn’t reply, Wonyoung’s eyebrows furrow in displeasure. “Are you ignoring me?”
Sunghoon sighs. “What is it?”
Her frown disappears instantly at the older’s acknowledgement, a mischievous smile taking its place.
“So,” she repeats for what seems like the millionth time. “You and Sunoo, huh?”
Sunghoon is fighting his inner demons as he attempts to keep his expression neutral, playing dumb even though he can feel his face growing redder by the second.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Nobody in this world is perfect. Sunghoon may be an extremely talented figure skater, so to balance out the equilibrium of things, the universe made him a terrible liar. The way his eyes are darting everywhere in the room except to meet the younger’s gaze gives him away instantly.
Wonyoung’s smile widens, like a cat that has cornered its prey. Or a rabbit that has… cornered its carrot?
“Oppa, I literally had to kick your shin twice because you were too busy staring at Sunoo to read your lines.” The girl tsks dramatically, shaking her head. “Your eyes were like, dripping honey the whole time.”
Sunghoon must look like a human tomato at this point.
“I just thought he was… really pretty,” he mumbles, reaching for his water bottle and taking a long swig in hopes it’ll somehow cool his face down.
“Okay,” Wonyoung nods. “And not because you fell in love with him at first sight or anything.”
Sunghoon chokes on his water. “W-What?!”
“If it makes you feel better,” she continues, completely unbothered, “I think he likes you too!”
“Stop lying,”
“I’m not!” Wonyoung insists. “Listen, when he first approached me he was so chatty, but when you came he became as quiet as a mouse. He was acting totally shy around you because he likes you!”
Sunghoon tries not to get his hopes up. And fails.
“...Y-you really think so?”
“Yes! He was all blushy and trying to hide behind me and everything!” Wonyoung squeals, and even Sunghoon has to bite his lips to fight back a smile. The girl is really persuasive.
“Trust me, oppa. I have a sixth sense when it comes to these things!”

WONYOUNG SURPRISE BUBBLE LIVE????!!! GIRL I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO SLEEP
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
Sunoo glances down the hallway to his left and finds it empty. Clear. He turns to his right. Also clear.
Taking a deep breath, he twists the knob of the door with a sign that says “JANG WONYOUNG” before slipping inside the empty dressing room.
Clutched to his chest is a neatly wrapped bag of chocolate chip cookies, tied with a bright red ribbon–Wonyoung’s favourite colour. A small notecard attached reads, To: MC Wonyoung :).
During Wonyoung’s live last night, she had offhandedly mentioned she was craving chocolate chip cookies. Without a second thought, Sunoo had jumped out of bed in his pajamas and all, donned a brand new Hello Kitty apron he bought on a whim when he first moved into his apartment, and started scouring the internet for chocolate chip cookie recipes.
Three burnt batches and five panicked calls to Jay later, he finally had a dozen cookies that appeared… edible.
As much as Sunoo would love to hand them to Wonyoung personally, he fears she might feel burdened since they did only ever have one proper conversation. So instead, he shows up at the broadcast station a little earlier than usual, hoping to secretly place the cookies in Wonyoung’s dressing room before she arrives.
Switching on the light, Sunoo surveys the room and decides the coffee table in front of the sofa is the perfect spot to leave his gift. He carefully places the bag down and is just about to turn around to leave when he suddenly hears a voice behind him.
“Sunoo?”
Startled, Sunoo quickly whips around, hiding the cookies behind his back. It takes a moment for Sunoo to recognize the tall, pale figure standing by the door and looking at him.
“S-Sunghoon sunbae-nim?!” Sunoo blurts out in shock. “What are you doing here?”
The Park Sunghoon in front of him looks vastly different from Sunoo’s memory of him–hair parted perfectly to frame his smooth forehead and thick brows, broad yet lean physique that nicely fills out his figure skating costume or the matching MC outfits with Wonyoung–all hard lines and sharp angles.
Instead, he looks unexpectedly soft and dorky in an oversized hoodie, his fluffy black bangs unstyled and falling over dark eyes as he blinks at Sunoo in confusion from behind a pair of rectangular glasses.
“I was heading to my room next door when I noticed the lights were on,” the figure skater explains, stepping closer. “Wonyoung never comes this early so I was surprised.” He eyes Sunoo curiously, the younger’s hands still shoved behind his back. “What brings you here, Sunoo?”
“I, um…” Sunoo stammers, his heart racing. In a split-second decision, he quickly tears the notecard off the ribbon and stuffs it into his back pocket before presenting the bag of cookies in front of him.
“I came to give you and Wonyoung sunbae some cookies! Haha…surprise?” he says lamely. “Just a little thank you for all your hard work as MCs!”
“Oh!” Sunghoon’s eyes widen as the younger grabs his hands and plops the bag of cookies onto his palms. Carefully undoing the ribbon, he peers inside. “Did you bake these yourself?”
“Y-yeah…” Sunoo replies, cheeks flushing pink. “But I was already making them for…um…my manager Jay! He loves chocolate chip cookies! These are just some extras.”
“Thanks, Sunoo. I’m touched you even thought of us.” Sunghoon says sincerely with a smile. Did he always have dimples? Sunoo rips his eyes away, suddenly finding a dent in the wall fascinating while Sunghoon takes a bite of a cookie.
“Wow… these are so good! I’m sure Wonyoung will like them too. Thanks again, Sunoo.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Sunoo squeaks, bowing quickly. “I gotta go get ready! See you later, sunbae-nim!”
Before he can make a run for it, cold fingers reach out and wrap gently around his wrist. “Wait!”
Sunoo looks back in confusion. The older quickly apologizes, releasing his wrist before sheepishly scratching his head.
“Uh, you don’t have to call me sunbae,” he says after a small pause. “I’m not a singer or anything so… just call me hyung.”
“Oh…o-okay.” Sunoo blinks. “I’ll see you later, Sunghoon…hyung.”
Sunghoon stands frozen in place even after watching the idol leave, a huge grin plastered across his face as he stares down at the pastel pink bag in his hands.
He must’ve been standing there for at least twenty minutes when Wonyoung walks in with her fleet of staff in tow.
“Sunghoon oppa?” she asks, raising an eyebrow as she approaches the boy. “What are you doing in my dressing room and why do you have such a stupid look on your face?”
Her eyes land on the bag in his hands and gasps. “Wow, chocolate chip cookies! I was just craving one,” she exclaims and snags a cookie from the top.
“Sunoo. Homemade cookies. Thank you. Us MCs.” Sunghoon says dumbly, brain short-circuiting.
“Sunoo gave us homemade cookies to us MCs as thank you,” she deciphers. Sunghoon nods fervently, shoving another cookie into his mouth.
“Oh, he is so adorable,” Wonyoung sighs dreamily, examining the baked treat. “Baking cookies for his crush, just like the main character of a cute manhwa.”
“He said it was for both of us.”
“You idiot, that’s obviously an excuse because he’s too shy to straight up give them to you.” Sunghoon can’t help the giddy feeling in his chest, smiling like the lovesick fool he is at the younger’s analysis.
Wonyoung finally takes a bite and immediately yelps. “What the–I take it back, Sunoo actually hates you and is secretly trying to kill you.” She examines the cookie in offence before turning to stare at Sunghoon in disbelief, only to find the latter calmly chewing away. “These are harder than rocks! How the hell are you eating them?!”
Sunghoon swallows before flashing her a grin. “Don’t worry. I’ve got these babies right here,” he says, pulling his lips back to reveal his signature sharp canines.
Wonyoung rolls her eyes. “Well aren’t you two a match made in heaven.” She then squints at Sunghoon, frowning.
“Oppa…I think you chipped a tooth.”

Park Jay is having a very strange morning.
Exhibit A: When he arrived at Sunoo’s apartment to wake the boy up this morning, he was shocked to see him already dressed and out of bed, calmly sipping on a mug of coffee by the kitchen counter.
Sunoo is not a morning person. As his manager since debut, Jay knows better than anyone. It’s usually like the WWE semi-finals trying to wrestle the boy out of bed in the morning.
Exhibit B: In the van when Jay handed Sunoo his promotion period breakfast–a hard-boiled egg, half an apple, and a baked sweet potato–with an apologetic smile, he braces himself for the usual whining about blueberry pancakes accompanied by a puppy eye attack. However, Sunoo simply responded with a cheerful “thanks, hyung!” and immediately got to peeling the the scalding sweet potato.
“Sunoo-yah,” Jay begins, carefully eyeing the boy through the rearview mirror. “You do know where we’re heading to, right?”
“Of course hyung,” Sunoo replies around a mouthful of sweet potato, grin as bright as the sun outside. “The Prada pop-up event. Are we almost there yet? I can’t wait!”
And that brings him to Exhibit C, perhaps the most baffling of them all. Sunoo hates brand events like this, where he’s expected to walk around the store, pretending to be interested in a hideous handbag while photographers shove their cameras in his face.
Yet the boy in the backseat is humming happily as he snaps selfies, angling himself perfectly so that the sunlight catches his honey brown eyes in just the right way, completely oblivious to Jay’s growing unease.
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
“Sunoo!”
Sunoo spins around at the sound of his name and is greeted by Wonyoung waving enthusiastically at him. She’s standing by the centrepiece of the event–a massive glass sculpture resembling some sort of wave. Adorned in a black turtleneck dress paired with a matching shoulder bag, she looks drop-dead gorgeous (like always). But what really catches Sunoo’s attention is her platinum blonde hair, shimmering under the display lights.
He quickly bows to the photographers in front of him before making his way over to Wonyoung. “Sunbae, your hair,” he gasps, eyes wide as saucers as he stares at the girl’s new hair colour. “It suits you so well!”
“Thanks,” Wonyoung giggles, flicking her glossy platinum waves over her shoulder. “Now we’re matching!”
A swarm of cameras suddenly appears in front of them, and two blondes pose together for a few minutes, offering the reporters winks and cheek hearts.
“Hm,” Wonyoung says after the crowd of reporters finally dissipates, glancing around the store. “Sunghoon oppa said he’d also be here today…I wonder if he’s running late?”
Before Sunoo can respond, a staff member calls Wonyoung’s name. The girl quickly apologizes to Sunoo with a promise to come find him later before hurrying off.
Unsure what to do, Sunoo wanders aimlessly around the venue. He even pretends to admire a hideous Christmas tree-shaped purse (Really? It’s February for God’s sake). A few other celebrities he’s acquainted with stop by to say hi and they pose for a handful of photos together, before Sunoo finally deems it appropriate to hide out in a corner for the remainder of the event.
His eyes drift toward a deserted nook behind the sunglasses displays, a secluded spot he’s been eyeing since his arrival. Casually, he slips behind the centrepiece, trying to avoid drawing the attention of the mob of journalists who have just gathered at the entrance. Judging from the commotion, Sunoo deduces it must be either someone super high-profile or the brand’s ambassador. He has half a mind to sneak a peek, but quickly decides against it when he spots two reporters fighting over a spot at the front.
And so he’s just minding his own business, passing through the back when all of a sudden he hears a loud curse, followed by a chorus of panicked screams. Startled, he turns his head just in time to watch the massive glass sculpture topple over–plunging straight towards him.
Time seems to pass in slow motion as Sunoo suddenly becomes hyperaware of every little detail around him. In the corner of his eye, he sees the bodyguards rushing toward him, their usual stoic expressions replaced with fear. He can hear Wonyoung crying his name from somewhere across the room, but he doesn’t have the heart to look at her face.
Feet rooted to the ground, his body feels like it has been turned into stone, refusing to budge no matter all the screams in his ears begging him to move. All he can do is stand there, helpless, the massive sculpture sparkling beautifully under the lights as it plummets towards him.
Am I going to die?
Sunoo thinks before squeezing his eyes shut, holding his breath as he braces for the inevitable impact.
Only it never comes.
A deafening crash followed by a moment of silence. Commotion ensues.
“...Sun…!” Sunoo hears the crowd screaming his name.
He doesn’t feel anything–is he perhaps already dead? If he opens his eyes now, will he find himself as a soul floating in midair, his lifeless physical body lying beneath him?
“...Sun…! Sun…oo…!”
“...hoon…Sunghoon!”
Huh?
With that, his eyes snap open. What greets him is the sight of Park Sunghoon sprawled out across the ground in front of him.
He’s called the “Ice Prince” for a reason, Sunoo realizes as his breath catches in his throat. The boy looks ethereal even like this, face serene as he lies on the floor amongst a sea of shattered glass that glimmers like snowflakes under the sun.
Everything is white–the tiles on the floor, Sunghoon’s flowy button-up shirt, his already fair complexion paler than normal.
Then Sunoo sees red.
He screams.

“…Hic…”
“You’re doing great, Sunghoon-ssi,” the middle-aged doctor says with a warm smile. He ties the suture in place with practiced ease before snipping off the ends. “Just two more to go.”
“…Sniff…hic…”
“Sunoo,” Sunghoon’s chuckles softly as he looks over at the younger who’s currently sobbing his heart out beside him, surrounded by a mountain of used tissues. It would be kind of gross if Sunghoon didn’t find the boy so adorable. “People outside probably think you’re the one getting stitches.”
“S-shut up,” Sunoo takes a break from crying just to glare at him, eyes glistening as he does his best to shoot daggers at the older’s teasing smile–before he catches sight of the half stitched up wound and he’s bawling his eyes out again.
Sunghoon reaches out with the arm not currently held hostage by the doctor, plucking a few fresh tissues from the box on Sunoo’s lap. Gently, he dabs at the idol’s tear-stained cheeks, red and blotchy from all the crying.
“Seriously, how can someone be this cute covered in snot,” he mutters under his breath, only to freeze when the doctor lets out a quiet huff under his surgical mask, no doubt having heard him. Thankfully, Sunoo seems oblivious, his hiccupping sobs drowning out most sounds around him.
“Don’t worry, Sunoo. This is nothing compared to the injuries I’ve got while skating. Look,” Sunghoon pulls up his blouse to reveal a long, discoloured scar running along the side of his torso. “This was from when I tried pairs for a bit. We messed up on a jump and she basically sliced me open with her skates. I must’ve gotten at least thirty stitches then.”
If Sunoo weren’t such an emotional wreck, he’d probably be able to admire the figure skater’s smooth skin and delicious back muscles peeking out from under the hem of his shirt. But all the older did was remind Sunoo that Sunghoon wouldn’t be able to skate with an injury, which made him cry even harder.
Panicking, Sunghoon scrambles to pull his shirt back down after seeing Sunoo’s crying fit worsen. “H-hey,” he murmurs, leaning closer to cup Sunoo’s face with both hands, tilting upwards to look into his big watery eyes.
Sunoo is suddenly aware of the fact that at some point the doctor had finished stitching up Sunghoon’s wound and left, leaving them alone in the hospital room.
“Don’t cry.” The figure skater gingerly wipes away the tears running down the Sunoo’s raw cheeks, his touch featherlight. “I don’t know what to do if you cry.”
The soft smile on Sunghoon’s face, the tender warmth in his eyes–filled with something Sunoo isn’t ready to think about–and maybe even Park Sunghoon’s very existence is making Sunoo’s stomach twist into a thousand knots. His heart feels like it’s going to beat right out of his chest, pounding so violently that Sunoo wonders if he should ask the doctor to check him for a heart condition.
Overwhelmed with guilt and sadness–mixed with some other unnamed emotion–Sunoo turns to bury his face into Sunghoon’s large hand, shying away from the older’s gaze.
“You can’t even skate anymore because of me,” he sniffles, breath ticking Sunghoon’s palm.
“It’s just for a little while, it’s fine. I don’t have any major competitions coming up anyway. Think about it this way: thanks to you, I get to laze around for a bit without my coach nagging me,” Sunghoon jokes but Sunoo doesn’t crack a smile.
Instead, he raises his head to give Sunghoon a sad look, tiny fists coming to land a weak punch on Sunghoon’s (not injured) arm. “Why did you do that, hyung? You shouldn’t have done that. You should’ve just let that thing fall on me.”
“I can’t do that,” Sunghoon grins, catching Sunoo’s fist with his own hand and rubbing soothing circles over his knuckles. “What if it scarred your pretty little face?”
Sunoo instantly flushes a pretty pink but he tries to play it off. “What if it scarred your face?”
“I’m not an idol so it’s okay.”
“No way! That would be a national offence. Your fans would have my head!” Sunoo says seriously and the older laughs.
There’s a knock at the door and Sunghoon’s manager peeks his head inside. “Sunghoon, are you ready to go?” he asks, waiting for a nod from the figure skater before looking over at Sunoo. “Sunoo-ssi, I think your manager is also waiting outside,” he says before shutting the door.
Sunghoon stands up to gather his things, but a small hand catches his sleeve. “Um…” Sunoo says in a small voice. “What can I do to repay you? I’m not good at cooking but I can clean… though you probably already have a housekeeper…”
Sunghoon ruffles the younger’s soft blonde hair which earns him a pout. God must be testing Sunghoon because he just wants to kiss it so, so badly. ”Let’s leave that to the professionals,” he replies lightly before pausing, biting his lip as if contemplating something. “Well there is one thing…” he finally says.
The idol’s eyes light up, eager to pay his saviour back in any way. “What is it?”
Rummaging through his bag, Sunghoon pulls out… a phone? With red ears and a sheepish smile, he holds it out to the younger.
“Give me your number, please. I want to be closer to you”

Despite his cool and aloof image, Park Sunghoon texts like a teenage girl equipped with the humour of a fifty-year-old father of three.
Now that training is off the table, it seems Sunghoon is using all his newfound free time to text Sunoo. Every time Sunoo checks his phone, there’s a notification waiting from the figure skater. Most times it’s asking Sunoo about his day or what he had for lunch. Once in a while, it’s a long detailed paragraph about how much he loves Froot Loops with perfect capitalization and grammar complete with a bunch of random emojis. Often it’s just some random Instagram post that Sunoo would find funny if he hadn't already seen the exact same meme on Twitter six months ago.
Still, Sunoo makes sure to match Sunghoon’s enthusiasm. He updates him on the progress of his next album and playfully argues that Lucky Charms is superior. He even laughs at the lame memes Sunghoon sent as if he’s seeing them for the first time.
Sunghoon invites him to a charity skating gala held by a foundation that provides free skating lessons to children of low-income families.
Initially, the plan was for Wonyoung to join them as well, but she informs them that she’s caught a mysterious stomach bug. While Sunoo immediately floods the group chat with concerned messages and wishes for her to get well soon, Sunghoon simply replies with a freaking thumbs-up emoji. That’s it.
Wonyoung, ever the saint, doesn’t seem to mind. She thanks both of them and then makes them promise to send pictures from the event. Sunoo thinks Sunghoon is lucky Wonyoung possesses the patience and forgiving heart of an angel.
Originally, Sunghoon was slated to open the gala with a short program, a tradition he’s upheld as a long-time supporter of the foundation since it started a few years ago. Sunoo can’t help but feel a pang of guilt knowing that because of him, Sunghoon is sitting here watching in the stands instead of being out on the ice. However, the uncomfortable feeling soon fades away as he immerses in the performances, eyes widening in awe at the way the skaters glide gracefully across the ice, seal clapping in delight at every twist and jump.
After a particularly impressive jump, Sunoo turns to Sunghoon to ask what the move is called–only to catch the latter already looking at him.
Their gazes lock, and time freezes. Sunoo opens his mouth but nothing comes out, his question long forgotten and all he can focus on at the moment is the hint of red dusting the older’s ears.
Sunghoon must be flustered at being caught, and in turn that makes Sunoo also feel embarrassed. Which is weird because he and Sunghoon are friends. There’s nothing wrong with friends looking at each other.
So what is this awkward tension between them right now?
After what seems like an eternity later, Sunghoon snaps out of it first, breaking up the silence with an awkward cough before nudging Sunoo’s shoulder and pointing out a trick the performer landed like nothing had happened. Sunoo lets him get away with it because he doesn’t know what just happened either.
Truthfully, Sunoo has never been a big sports person–he’s usually only able to stand all of thirty minutes of watching sports before boredom makes his eyelids grow heavy. But by the end of the night, Sunoo is surprised with himself when he realizes he had a blast all evening.
Sunoo tells himself it must be because the gala was for such a meaningful cause. It has nothing to do with the way Sunghoon’s warm breath brushed against his cheek every time he leaned in to whisper in his ear. Nothing to do with the the flutter of butterflies in his stomach every time he caught Sunghoon watching him from the corner of his eye.
Absolutely not–that would be weird since they’re just friends.

Sunghoon has been in a good mood all day.
It doesn’t escape Wonyoung, especially when he bursts into her waiting room and plops down beside her makeup chair, hands clasped in his lap as he grins like a fool at her reflection in the mirror. Wonyoung’s poor manager looks half scared and half concerned, but the idol herself–knowing all too well the reason he’s acting this way–merely spares Sunghoon a snort and dramatic roll of her eyes before focusing back on the game she’s playing on her phone.
After ten minutes of telepathically trying to get Wonyoung to ask him what’s up and failing, Sunghoon finally gets up, cheerful mood undeterred as he gives her a firm clap on the shoulder–earning him a dirty look–and chirps, “See you later!”, before skipping out of the room.
“Wonyoung… and Sunghoon-ssi… must be true…” He hears some of the staff whisper among themselves as he walks by. He has no idea what they’re saying but frankly? He doesn’t care. His mind is occupied by more important things–such as finally seeing a certain fox-eyed boy today.
For Sunghoon, meeting Sunoo every week at Music Bank had been the highlight of his week. But three short weeks of music show promotions ended way too soon, and soon it was all up to lady luck. Sunghoon had only met the fox-eyed boy twice ever since then–once at the Prada event, and the second time at the charity gala.
The figure skater had regretfully come to terms with the fact that it might be months until Sunoo would return for his next comeback, but a few days ago Sunoo had texted him that he’d be at Music Bank for a special stage performing his new OST, and Sunghoon has been riding that high all week.
Lost in thought, Sunghoon doesn’t notice he’s walking straight into the doorway until a sharp sting in his injured arm brings him back to reality. He winces at the pain, but a second later his face morphs right back into that same goofy grin. It’s all thanks to these precious stitches that not only he won brownie points with Sunoo, but also got his number and invited him to what Sunghoon delusionally thinks is lowkey a first date. Shout out to Wonyoung for being the best wingwoman ever.
Still, it’s been almost two weeks since he last saw the personification of the sun, and Sunghoon swears the lack of vitamin D is starting to get to him.
Especially since he didn’t even get his usual dose of cute emojis and good morning hyung~ text this morning, and the younger left the Instagram reel he sent him on read. It’s fine–Sunoo is probably just busy, and Sunghoon will see tonight anyway.
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
Sunoo loves his Jay hyung. As an idol manager, he’s flawless at his job–planning Sunoo’s schedules meticulously while taking into consideration his condition and the company’s demands, never failing to wake up Sunoo for an early appointment. Outside of work, Jay is an even better friend who Sunoo has come to cherish dearly. Sunoo can confidently say that he can trust Jay with his life.
But of course, nobody is perfect, and Sunoo discovered Jay’s Achilles’ heel for the first time ten minutes after getting into a car with him.
Usually, it’s not that bad–just a few curses under his breath here and there. Today, however, they’re stuck in traffic and half an hour late to the broadcasting station, and it seems the stress has finally made Jay crack.
“What the fuck is this moron doing?” Jay grumbles, slamming his palm against the steering wheel, causing the horn to blare angrily. He then unleashes a string of colourful curses in English that Sunoo doesn’t even want to understand.
“I swear, this fucker must be driving with a blindfold on.” The Korean-American promptly rolls down his window to flip off the car beside them while Sunoo sits in the passenger seat, clutching his seatbelt in fear. He pulls his cap lower, silently praying that if he slouches low enough in his seat, maybe he’ll become invisible.
To be fair, Sunoo knows they’re in this predicament mostly because of him.
When the first article about Sunghoon and Wonyoung’s dating news dropped last night, Sunoo swears he was just curious. But one article led to another, and soon he was obsessively scrolling through the #jangkku tag on Twitter like a madman–to make sure no one was saying anything negative about them, of course.
He feels a little guilty–he’s gotten close to the two, and he should’ve probably waited for them to break the news to him instead of giving views to celebrity gossip sites. Every passing minute he would feel a little worse until an entire night’s worth of guilt snowballed into a giant nauseating mess of emotions weighing in the pit of his stomach.
That’s why when Jay woke him up at the bright and early hour of 1 pm, he visibly grimaced at the dark eyebags gracing the younger’s usually flawless complexion. And instead of getting ready like he was supposed to, Sunoo could do little more than stubbornly burrow deeper into his comforter, fighting waves of nausea and, for some reason, the urge to cry.
No, no, no. Sunoo swears he’s happy for them. He’s not one of those weird fanboys in pseudo-relationships with Wonyoung who gets triggered by dating rumours. Well, he does think Wonyoung is too good for anyone… but if it’s Sunghoon hyung…
Sunghoon, who throws himself in harm’s way without a second thought, endangering his own body just to protect Sunoo. Sunghoon, who texts Sunoo gentle reminders to eat his meals and sends him stupid dad jokes to make him laugh. Sunghoon, who wipes away Sunoo’s tears so patiently, with that fond look in his eyes that makes Sunoo’s heart rate quicken and stomach feel funny, almost as if–
Yeah. Sunoo would be able to rest assured if Wonyoung was really dating Sunghoon. If Sunghoon’s already this kind to his friends, then there’s no doubt he’d treat Wonyoung like the princess that she is.
Sunoo makes a mental note to congratulate the couple at the broadcasting station later. So I heard you guys are dating? You make such a cute couple! Does that make him sound too gossipy? Oh my god, is it true that you guys are dating? I’m rooting for you two! Ugh, now he just sounds fake. I’m so happy my friends are–
The sound of Jay opening the car door finally snaps Sunoo out of his thoughts. Grabbing his purse, he quickly hops out of the car and mentally thanks Jay for taking them to the back entrance because he really doesn’t feel like dealing with a crowd right now.
As the elevator doors slide open, the first person he sees is the very same man currently blowing up on social media. The figure skater is casually leaning against the wall beside the hallway leading to Sunoo’s waiting room, dark bangs falling in front of furrowed brows as he types on his phone.
Sunoo sidles up behind Jay as they step out, his uncharacteristic clinginess earning him a questioning look from the latter. Holding his breath, he makes himself as small as possible behind Jay and thankfully the figure skater seems too preoccupied with his phone to notice the two passing by.
He’s just a few steps away from his dressing room door when a deep voice calls out to him.
“Sunoo!”
Panicked, Sunoo clutches at Jay's sleeve, silently begging for help with his best puppy eyes. Unfortunately, his plea seems to be misunderstood, because Jay just glances over his shoulder at the approaching figure, lets out a resigned sigh, and tells him, “Don’t take too long”. With that he disappears into the waiting room, leaving Sunoo in the hallway alone, utterly defenceless.
Sunoo gapes dumbfounded at the shut door until he feels gentle fingers circle around his wrist and spin him around.
“Sunoo! I was starting to think you weren’t gonna show up.”
“Ah, hi hyung…” The fox-eyed boy looks up and instantly regrets it. What greets him are pearly white teeth and a smile so bright he can almost see a white glow behind him and cherry blossom petals floating in the air. It’s as though the male lead of one of Sunoo’s favourite K-dramas walked straight out of the screen and is now standing before him.
Sunoo must look like an idiot, frozen mid-sentence and just gawking at Sunghoon. This guy is supposed to be an athlete, not an actor, so why is he so damn handsome for no reason? It only makes it worse when the older tilts his head slightly, confusion flickering across his smile, and Sunoo can’t help but compare him to one of those fluffy Maltese puppies on his Instagram feed. Great. So he’s handsome and adorable.
And Wonyoung’s boyfriend, a voice in Sunoo’s head adds.
Only after a resounding thonk! does Sunoo realize that he just dropped his bag and spilled all of its contents across the hallway. And because Park Sunghoon is a greedy asshole who isn’t content with just being good-looking, he also has to be an absolute gentleman, immediately crouching down to help gather Sunoo’s belongings.
Of course, just like everything else about Wonyoung, even her boyfriend is perfect. A princess and a prince, straight out of a fairytale. No wonder Park Sunghoon is glowing today. He’s dating Korea’s goddess, he must feel on top of the world right now.
The older stands back up, smile still as dazzling as ever as he places Sunoo’s purse into his hands. Out of nowhere, an inexplicable wave of pure irritation washes over Sunoo and suddenly he’s not in control of his own mouth anymore.
You see, what Sunoo means to say is something along the lines of: Thanks, Sunghoon hyung. Oh, and I heard the news about you and Wonyoung. Congratulations, you guys suit each other!
But what actually tumbles out of his mouth is: “Stay away from Wonyoung!”
Silence.
For what feels like an eternity, Sunoo can almost hear his words echoing in the background as wide eyes stare at each other–Sunghoon in surprise and Sunoo in sheer horror. Finally, a strangled noise escapes his throat and he quickly clamps a hand over his mouth, mutters an unintelligible apology, and bolts.
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
Wonyoung corners Sunghoon in a secluded corner backstage the moment the camera stops rolling.
“Oppa, what’s going on with you? You were so happy earlier because Sunoo was coming, and then during the show you were acting all mopey and wouldn’t even look me in the eye,” she demands, arms crossed as she fixes him with a glare.
Sunghoon looks sadly at the ground, lips pressed in a thin line. He doesn’t reply.
“It’s because of Sunoo, isn’t it?” Wonyoung pressed on, stepping closer. “No wonder you’re acting like a kicked puppy. Did he say something to you?
Sensing the younger isn’t going to let him go without getting an answer, the figure skater gives in. “He told me to stay away from you.”
“...What?”
“He said,” Sunghoon sighs, his face scrunching up in a grimace as if it pains him just to repeat Sunoo’s words, “to stay away from you. Then he just ran off.”
“Oh my god.” Feeling faint, Wonyoung places a hand on the wall to stabilize herself. She can feel her blood pressure rising by the second. “And you just let him go?!”
“What was I supposed to do? He sounded mad at me! And I don’t know how to fix it because I don’t know why he’s mad at me!”
“You idiot,” Wonyoung groans. “Did you forget about our dating rumours? He must be jealous!”
Wonyoung is not a violent person, but she’s trying really hard to fight the urge to hit Sunghoon at this moment as she watches confusion, then finally horror, flash across his face.
“Maybe if you conserved your brainpower instead of wasting it on ‘Wonyoung, which combination of heart emojis should I put next to Sunoo’s contact name?’ or ‘Wonyoung, which one of the fifty photos of my sandwich do the veins on my hand look the best in so I can send to Sunoo?’, you would’ve been able to connect the dots yourself.”
“I fucked up,” Sunghoon grabs Wonyoung’s hands and looks at her pleadingly in hopes of some desperately needed sage advice. “Wonyoung, please, what do I do now?”
Wonyoung is not a violent person, but a person has their limits. She smacks the older’s back with all her might and shoves him towards the direction of the waiting rooms. “Go apologize to Sunoo and explain everything. NOW!”
Sunghoon doesn’t need to be told twice. He sprints through the hallways, dodging the swarm of staff members, zooms past an idol group who just got off the stage, and accidentally photo-bombs a girl group posing with their trophy until he finally finds the door labelled “KIM SUNOO”.
Thankfully Sunoo’s waiting room is the last one in the hallway, so it’s relatively deserted here compared to the backstage rush he just maneuvered through. Sunghoon takes a moment to catch his breath, runs a hand through his hair, and is about to knock on the door when he notices something on the ground, peaking out from under the radiator.
It’s a keychain of a crochet fox, its smiley expression just like Sunoo’s. It must be a gift from his fans. Sunghoon probably missed it when he helped Sunoo collect his things earlier.
He bends down to retrieve the small trinket when he notices something else beside it–a photostrip?
Sunghoon slides the piece of paper out from under the radiator and picks it up. It’s of Wonyoung and… Sunoo? There are glittery stickers of hearts and sparkles surrounding them, and he even drew cute animal ears on them in one of the frames. Confused, Sunghoon flips it over.
Scrawled in Sharpie are a date and the words: my love, my princess wony ♡

Sunoo doesn’t know how he got through the rest of the day. He remembers blurting out for Sunghoon to stay away from Wonyoung, and then everything became a blur. He vaguely recalls questioning his entire existence in a bathroom stall for what felt like five minutes but was probably close to thirty, ignoring his manager’s calls and texts demanding him to come back until Jay threatened to report him as a missing person. Then somehow he was onstage, and it was likely thanks to muscle memory that he managed to make it through the performance without messing up.
The next thing Sunoo knew he was already home, half-listening to Jay nag about something while he washed his face in a daze. If his manager noticed Sunoo skipping his usual intricate skincare routine in favour of a simple moisturizer, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he just reminded him one last time of tomorrow’s schedule, tucked him in, turned off the lights, and left.
Thankfully, it seemed the physical and mental exhaustion finally caught up to Sunoo, and he fell asleep almost immediately.
Which brings him to now–well rested, skin glowing again, and mind as clear as the morning sky outside. Perfect condition to finally process what happened yesterday and to scream in agony into his pillows.
Ten minutes of screaming and a sheet mask later, Sunoo eventually calms down enough to text an apology to Sunghoon for snapping at him for no reason and to please call him when he’s free.
Then Sunoo puts his phone down and waits… and waits… and waits.
A week passes by and he’s still waiting. Absolute radio silence. Not even a thumbs-up.
In the meantime, Sunoo reaches out to Wonyoung, the latter clarifying that the dating rumours are just rumours but even she is confused as to why the figure skater is ignoring him. She sends him mint chocolate macarons to cheer him up and promises to let him know if she finds out anything.
On the tenth day, Wonyoung declares an emergency intervention when even Sunoo’s favourite mint chocolate ice cream fails to lift his mood.

Sunghoon’s coach had strictly forbidden him from stepping within a 500m radius of the rink before he got the all-clear from his doctor. He knows that, but his wound is nearly fully healed, and skating is the only way he knows to take his mind off of things. Besides, it’s not his fault that nobody has bothered to fix the broken lock at the back entrance for the past six months.
Like he’s been doing for the better part of the past week, Sunghoon’s making his way toward the rear of the building with his skates in hand when he spots a familiar figure shivering on a bench nearby.
“...Sunoo?!”
The younger boy whips around at the sound of his voice. “Sunghoon hyung?” he whispers in disbelief as if seeing a ghost. Which is, well, valid–Sunghoon has been ghosting him.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m meeting Won–” Sunoo begins before a gust of wind blows past and prompts him into a sneeze. “Ah-choo!”
Sunghoon frowns disapprovingly as he scans Sunoo’s outfit. Spring might have arrived in Seoul, but the nights are still too cold for the thin knit Sunoo’s sporting. “You shouldn’t be here at this hour,” he mutters softly, shrugging off his own jacket and draping it over the idol’s shoulders. “Go home, Sunoo.”
“Wait, hyung!” Sensing Sunghoon’s about to leave, Sunoo springs up and grabs the ends of Sunghoon’s scarf. “You’ve been ignoring me. I-I want to apologize for yelling at you–”
“No,” Sunghoon interrupts, voice quiet but firm. He unwinds the scarf from his neck and wraps it around Sunoo’s instead. Finally the idol is bundled up enough for Sunghoon’s liking. “I’m the one who’s sorry.”
“Huh?” Sunoo feels more confused than ever. Sunghoon has nothing to apologize for… is this about not replying to his texts?
Sunghoon sighs deeply. “You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s me, okay?” He gives the scarf one last tug before meeting Sunoo’s wide eyes with a sad smile.
“It’s me… I’m the stupid one. I’m the one who fell for you and then got upset when you liked someone else.”
Sunoo’s brain short-circuits as he struggles to process the bomb the older just dropped. His heart is doing somersaults in his ribcage and he can feel all the oxygen leaving his body. He opens his mouth to reply, but no words come out.
“I know it’s my fault,” Sunghoon continues quietly. “You don’t owe me anything, have no obligation to return my feelings. I’m just…” His voice cracks, and he swallows hard. “I’m just stupid and delusional and ended up breaking my own heart.”
“Hyung–”
“I’ll get over it someday… probably. But right now–right now, it still hurts to look at your face.” Sunghoon’s voice is trembling. Sunoo’s heart aches.
Sunoo should say something, but all he can do is stare into Sunghoon’s eyes as if hypnotized, entranced by the way they glisten, long eyelashes fluttering with rapid blinks.
“So I’m begging you, Sunoo. Please… go easy on me. Give me some time to… deal with this. Go home,” he murmurs, voice barely above a whisper. Sunoo watches as a single tear finally escapes, sliding past the pretty mole on Sunghoon’s cheek. It shines under the glow of the moonlight, and Sunoo thinks it looks like a diamond.
Embarrassed, the older wipes his face with his sleeve and attempts to turn away but Sunoo is faster, grabbing his hand.
“No hyung,” Sunoo cries, voice cutting through the quietness of the night. “You’re not stupid or delusional.”
Sunghoon averts his gaze bitterly. “You don’t have to lie to me. I know you like Wonyoung.”
“I–what? Where did you hear that–no, nevermind. That’s not important right now.” Sunoo shakes his head and takes a deep breath. “You know what? I do like Wonyoung.”
Sunghoon winces, heart crushing at the verbal confirmation even though he already saw it coming.
“I’ve liked her for a long time now. I adore her… as a fan. I look up to her as my role model. And now, I would do anything for her because she has become one of my closest friends.” Sunoo says in an eerily calm manner despite the emotions swirling inside him. Usually he would be a bawling mess by now but he wants the older to clearly hear what he has to say.
“I like Wonyoung a lot, but not in the way I like you.”
Sunghoon can’t breathe, just barely mustering enough oxygen to whisper his next words. “...And what way is that?”
“I like Wonyoung, but I don’t stay up all night to text her even when I have an early schedule the next morning. My heart doesn’t flutter when she smiles at me. My stomach doesn’t twist into knots at the thought of her dating someone else.” His grip on Sunghoon’s hand tightens, his thumb unconsciously pressing into the older’s palm.
“When the rumours about you and Wonyoung came out, I tried to convince myself I was just feeling protective of her as a fan. But I was so, so confused, hyung–because you’re perfect and there should be no reason for me to think badly of you, yet somehow I hated the idea of Wonyoung dating you.”
Sunoo surprises himself with how easily he’s able to articulate the mess in his head that has been tormenting him for days, the words naturally falling into place. He’s not just explaining it to Sunghoon but also unravelling the truth for himself, though the revelation doesn’t surprise him. Deep down, he’s known it all along.
“But it wasn’t about her,” Sunoo continues softly “It was you all along, Sunghoon hyung. I hated the thought of anyone dating you.” He tries to look into Sunghoon’s eyes but he can’t see much past the cloud of tears. “Because I wanted it to be me. I like you, hyung.”
Sunghoon stares at him, too shocked to be able to formulate any kind of response. Unfortunately, Sunoo is not a patient person. After a few seconds of silence, he juts out his bottom lip and does a little stomp with his foot.
“Um hello?” he sniffles indignantly. “This is the part where you’re supposed to kiss me.”
As an athlete, words may occasionally fail him, but his body rarely does. Without hesitation, he grips his scarf still wrapped snugly around Sunoo’s neck and gently pulls him closer–close enough to lose himself in those watery pools of honey-brown, close enough to cradle the boy’s soft mochi cheeks in his hands, close enough to lean down and kiss the daylights out of him.
Good thing it’s the middle of the night.
💫🐇🍪💌🎤💖⛸️✨
Just around the corner is a girl clad in a fuzzy zip-up, an oversized scarf to hide her face and clutching a tote with two pairs of skates, holding her breath as she hides behind the wall with wide rabbit eyes.
“Holy shit,” she whispers while squealing internally. Careful not to interrupt the moment, she tiptoes away before pulling out her phone to text her manager, asking if he can turn around. Hopefully, he hasn’t gone too far.
Hm. Now that her plans for the night have fallen through, maybe she’ll buy a hot chocolate on the way home and finally finish the compilation she’s been editing.
