Life Turns

Summary:

Regulus finally follows his brother's steps and runs away from the abusive household.

Notes:

This is my first story on Ao3, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet 😀 Also I'm pretty new to the marauders fandom so I'm sorry if the characters might be off
It starts with Regulus pov but there might be a lot of switching povs
Also there are going to be sexual parts but not actual sex described

Work Text:

The young man stumbled into the flat, breathing heavily. How long had he been running? At least for hours non-stop. His brain was hazy and the lightheaded feeling didn't help his thinking. The only thing left was to pray to whatever diety there was that Regulus had found himself at the correct address where his brother lives at. With rather unsteady steps he went up the staircase, leaning against the closest wall with his shoulder. What number was the room under again? God, it's impossible to remember in such an exhausted state. He'll have to go on instinct. Regulus' whole body ached, littered with small cuts from bushes and a few small wounds from times when he tripped over on the way. In the distance, somewhere above him music was playing rather loudly. Could it be there? Not having anything to waste, besides energy and pride, it is where he went.

Once he stood before the door under which he could see lights flashing and hear loud music, speaking and other sounds he noticed a small metal plate with the names 'Sirius O. Black & James F. Potter'. It's here. Regulus raised his hand slowly and, slight hesitating, rang the doorbell.

Please open the door. Please.

Sirius pov.

Amongst loud sounds coming from pretty much all sides the doorbell came as a muffled noise that got ignored. While leaning against the counter Sirius shook his head and laughed at James' horrible attempts of charming Evans before taking a big gulp from his solo cup filled with some spiked drink. It was always amusing to watch his best friend fail at flirting with the most corny lines ever created. However his 'peaceful' moment was interrupted when some people started calling out to him that someone's at the door.

At this hour? I didn't order more food.

After finishing his drink with a few chugs he headed for the door. It took a moment to squeeze through all the random strangers at the party but eventually he made it. When he unlocked and opened the door his body froze. There he stood. His own younger brother, looking like skin and bones, on the edge of passing out. Their eyes locked together, concern and shock meeting exhaustion and pleading.

"Reggie..?"

Sirius murmured in disbelief. Regulus looked like crap, to say the least. Like he had just walked down to hell and all the way up to the surface. Small twigs and leaves were stuck deep in his messed up, raven hair that looked unwashed for at least a few days. The one shirt the older Black didn't take from their family house was hanging loosely off of the other's smaller frame, dirty and with many torn parts just like the short pants that reached barely to his knees. It was not a weather appropriate attire what-so-ever. His skin was clammy with sweat and dried blood was clearly visible on some parts of his skin. A few awkward moments passed before Sirius snapped back into action. His hands patted over his clothes, targeting the pockets before he realized that whatever item he was looking for wasn't there. Not dwelling on that for too long he gently grabbed his younger brother's arm, pulling him in. With his free hand he shut the door before automatically wrapping it around the other's shoulder.

"Come on in- let's get you to an empty bed, yeah?"

Sirius pulled on a clearly nervous smile in an attempt to ease the tension while leaning Regulus through the packed apartament, shouting ahead for people to move until they ended up in a bedroom. He kicked out some love couple from the room before urging the younger brother to sit down on the bed.

"Okay. Uh- you wait here for a moment. I- I'll go fetch some stuff for you- feel free to steal the blankets-"

Sirius said in a tempo so fast Regulus barely understood him. But then again, his brain was feeling too buzzed out from all the hours or days of running so either way he didn't understand a word besides 'wait'. So he did.

Sirius almost ran through the crowd, rushing so fast he crashed into some people on the way. Somewhere in the small distance he saw James so, without much hesitation, he grabbed his shoulders and pulled him away from another pathetic attempt at wooing Lily.

"Heyy- I kinda need you to look after my little brother for a moment so just make sure he doesn't die while I'm off or something- 'kay thanks~"

He explained quickly before practically shoving the slightly taller male into the bedroom where said brother was.

"Wait, what-"

The brunet murmured but Sirius was already gone. He stood awkwardly in the doorway, staring at the younger Black.
