Work Text:
Eric Draven was a big flirt.
You’re not sure if he was like this with everybody or just you.
Sarah and your friends that know of Eric say it’s just around you, but you have a hard time believing that. He was too much of a flirt for you to be the only one he talked like this to. And you could only swear he was doing it on purpose at this point.
“Hey sweetheart,” Eric practically cooed your way as he entered the music you worked at.
“Eric,” You greeted, affectionately rolling your eyes as you heard him pad through the isles of vinyls.
You were currently stocking up from the new shipment that came in this morning, wheeling around a little cart that was stacked high of music vinyls, cds, and some little cassette tapes. You made your way through the rock section, eyes scanning over familiars like ZZ TOP, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, The Eagles, and a few more.
You listened as Eric made his way over to you and your chart, looking over your shoulder to see whatever you had in your hand at that moment. He was so close you could feel the faint heat of his body seep through his clothes and settle into yours.
“Hmm.. fancy,” Eric muttered, leaning in ever closer. “Did you guys change the lights in here or did you get prettier?”
Almost automatically, a blush crawled up your neck and settled into your cheeks. You gave a half-assed scoff in return as your fingers stumbled to restock vinyls.
“Just changed the lights, Eric,” You muttered, voice wavering only slightly.
You could hear your companion chuckle behind you as you scooted away from his warmth and wheeled down the aisle to find the next artist to restock.
“You sure?” Eric questioned, still hovering as he twirled a strand of your hair around his fingers. “The lights look the same.”
“Same brand, same wattage,” You murmured, deflecting the flirting.
And that’s how you spend the afternoon with Eric between customers. He loved to follow you around the store, endearingly bothering you and feeding you compliments to watch your face color with heat. He loved to touch as well, using any excuse to. Tucking a piece of hair behind your ears, brushing hair from your eyes if you hands were full, straightening out your clothes, or handing you items you currently stocked so he could have an excuse to touch your soft hands.
His actions made you blush, always. Eric always affected you that way, and he didn’t have to try hard. You’re sure he knew that though.
Though the staring started around sunset as you sat behind the front counter and organized anything you could as you waited for customers to come in.
“I like how the sun shines on your skin as it filters in through the blinds,” Eric murmured, but made sure you heard him.
You couldn’t possibly know how you looked in the setting sun. The windows behind you painting you in a golden halo, and the shadows of the blinds drew lines on the exposed skin of your face, almost highlighting hidden features no one could see at a normal time of day.
“You’re just saying that,” You respond, crouched down behind the glass counter as you restock some patches and stickers that you shop sold.
“You would say that, yes,” Eric leaned over the counter to look at you. “But you don’t see you the way I do.”
You give him another roll of your eyes, not moving from your crouched position.
“I’ll get you one day, sweetheart,” Eric purrs at you, resting his chin in his hand with a loving expression on his face.
“ ‘course you will, Draven,” You reply, glancing up at his sunbathed face. “You always do, don’t you?”
“Yeah,” He shrugged nonchalantly. “But I like waiting.”
You only shake your head in response, letting the comforting presence of him loom from above.
