Prelude: Parhelion
" Some unions are forged in light, others in shadow—but all cast a reflection we cannot escape. "
Click, click, click.
The sharp rhythm of heels striking the polished floor reverberated through the hallway, slicing through the tense silence like a knife. Dahyun stiffened, her pulse quickening with every step that drew nearer. The sound stopped abruptly outside the door, and for a heartbeat, all was still. She didn’t need to look to know who it was—everyone in the room knew.
The woman they’d been waiting for had arrived.
On her family’s side, the shift in energy was undeniable. Their faces brightened, whispers of relief and approval exchanged in barely perceptible nods and smiles. To them, this was the moment everything fell into place. But across the room, Dahyun’s brother sat rigid, his expression a stark contrast to the excitement around him. His face was pale, his forehead glistening with beads of sweat that defied the room’s crisp air conditioning. His jaw clenched as though he were bracing himself for impact, and his hand trembled slightly as it gripped the armrest of his chair, white-knuckled.
The door creaked open.
And there she was—Minatozaki Sana, in all her breathtaking glory.
Her presence filled the room instantly, as if the air itself shifted to make space for her. She stood at the threshold, perfectly poised, her head held high, her gaze steady and unreadable. That faint curve of her lips—the kind that teetered between charm and quiet defiance—told everyone in the room that she understood the power she wielded. The weight of the moment rested on her shoulders, but she carried it effortlessly, like it was hers to own.
For a moment, no one spoke. Every eye was drawn to her, but it was Dahyun’s brother who seemed to shrink under her gaze. His expression gave him away—he looked like a man staring down the edge of an unalterable fate. This wasn’t just a meeting for him; it was the end of one life and the beginning of another he hadn’t chosen.
Sana stepped inside, the sound of her heels echoing in the heavy stillness, each step deliberate, as if to remind everyone that she wasn’t just a name in an arrangement. She was the embodiment of the Minatozaki family’s will, and this was her stage now.
Her presence was magnetic, commanding, and final.
Whether Dahyun’s brother wanted it or not, this was no longer just a meeting. It was the beginning of their binding future.
