Summary:

Rome and Phillip, several small fluff stories because they both need hugs.
the characters are horrifically OOC (out of character) so please keep that in mind

like all the other fics I have done, this is not made by a professional so please rest assured the writing will not be good, despite that, please feel free to read! I would love to know more my missing Oscar fans

Notes:

welcome to my fanfic, enjoy, there is going to be more parts of course, the quality will not be great due to me writing these during and in between my classes.

Chapter 1: A hug between two emotionally not so good people

Chapter Text

The ship was lively, lunch was being served and the loud chatter and boisterous laughter could be heard from the cafeteria. Phillip was leaning against the railing staring outwards towards the ocean waves moving calmly against the wind, the beautiful white shine of the sun against the water made a calm, serene atmosphere. Phillip sighed and rested his head against the palm of his hand. Phillip was quick to relax after the hectic week he's had with Rome and the golden dagger “Oscar” that the king owned. Eventually the sun began to set, the beautiful purples and oranges rose into the sky around the setting sun. As the sun lowered further down the horizon, the oranges and purples began to dip into a deep blue and black. Phillip sighed against the railings for what felt like hours, soon enough the ship became quiet. The sound of the ocean crashing against the ship was the only sound that could be heard aside from the distant snoring from the crew members.

The stars where shimmering brightly in the dark sky, the northern star shining the brightest. The abundance of stars splattered across the night sky was calming and made the full moon stick out.

Phillip, tired of standing, turned around and slid down to sit back against the railing. There was no one else on deck as he sent away the night watch so they could sleep and he could be by himself to think. Rome was made to sleep with the crew so they could keep an eye on the pirate captain (although Phillip strongly doubts, they would be able to do anything other than cower in the corner.)

Phillip looked back towards the sky, fighting his eyes not to close. He can’t go to sleep, not yet. He fought with all of his might but eventually they closed. It's just for a minute, he just needed to rest his eyes, he thought to himself. Slowly, Phillip began to fall asleep, his body becoming heavy and his mind was becoming dreary with sleep.

Phillip awoke to the sound of seagulls and the rise of the sun. Phillip groggily sat up with a massive groan his hair falling down to his shoulders. He blinked slowly adjusting to the light. It was still early in the morning as no one had woken up yet. Phillip looked down and his eyebrows rose, a blanket was laid across his lap, it wasn't soft fabric but it kept in warmth and it was an odd green colour.

Footsteps could be heard against the deck; they got louder as someone approached Phillip. They came to a stop in front of him, casting a shadow over his body and blocking the sun from his eyes. “morning” Phillip looked up to see the looming figure of Rome and a bright smile on said man's face. His brown hair was slightly messed up and his outfit was crinkled and creased, his hat rested snuggly on his head, since it was given to him the night prior.

Phillip blankly stared up at him and began to feel a small pit of anger in his stomach. “aren't you meant to have people with you so you don't escape or disappear” Rome raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, his smile only getting bigger, his teeth were

beginning to show. “In your words, where, exactly, am I meant to go? In the middle of the ocean.” Phillip hummed in silent acknowledgment “I guess you're right” he waved his hand as a sign for Rome to sit next to him. Rome nodded and moved out the way to lean against the banister causing the sun to go back into Phillips eyes. “Do you know why there's a blanket on me?” Phillip asked pinching the green blanket in two fingers and lifting it up. Rome craned his neck to look Phillip in the eye. His mouth curled into a small ‘oh’ “you were out in the freezing cold, so I grabbed a blanket for you” Rome replied turning back towards the ocean. The wind was blowing his hair back slightly, revealing his neck and blue pearl earring.

Phillip pursed his lips, “you could have simply woken me up, aside from the fact that you were not meant to be out on the ship deck anyways” Rome chuckled to himself and gave Phillip a small smile “you looked tired, I wanted to let you sleep.”

Phillip hummed once again and pushed the blanket off himself. He stood up and brushed his clothes off as they began to accumulate with dirt, he grabbed a hair tie from his pocket and tied up his messy pink hair. Once he tied up his hair he looked towards Rome. Phillip was so tired, he hardly wanted to wake up to begin with and his back was stiff from laying on wooden boards. Phillip was about to speak but was suddenly grabbed by Rome. Rome’s arms wrapped around his back and Rome rested his chin on Phillip’s shoulder.

Phillip froze, his eyes were wide as he looked in front of him, not sure what to do. “What are you-” Phillip was cut off with the sound of Rome shushing him. Eventually, Phillip returned the hug slightly, albeit hesitantly.

A few seconds pass before the two men pull away from each other. “What was that!?” Phillip accused angrily, despite the fact he felt a foreign feeling creep up on him and that he returned the hug himself, Rome just shrugged slightly “that, is called a hug.” he replied and started to walk away. His heels clattered against the wood of the ship. “Pirate.” Phillip muttered to himself with a smile slowly walking after him and picking his coat up on the way.
