Call of Duty
Ghost X Soap
Established relationship

Soap sighed again as his phone chimed with a new message. They had just gotten back from a large(ish) mission that did not go well. It went to hell almost the moment they walked off the plane. Poland was not a place they were expecting trouble, it was just their starting point before the actual mission even started. That didn't stop the bullets from raining down on them once they walked off the plane though. Each person was running light as they still had a few days before getting to their goal, they would never be unarmed. Their attackers didn't seem to really know anything about guns which worked in the team's favor.

Taking down their attackers though didn't really give them anything, no information on where they came from or what they wanted. The bodies had been given to the local authorities and Laswell promised she would find out but even a few days later she didn't have anything for them. It was one of the reasons why they were going through so many pointless meetings.

With no wounds to the team after that rude welcome to the country, they all headed in for a briefing before heading out for their mission a few days later.

Soap's phone went off again drawing another sigh from him as he tried to ignore the device in favor of listening to Price, it was getting hard enough listening to the same thing said 20+ different ways. It wasn't going to work though as another chime drew everyone's attention to the phone.

“There a problem Sergeant?” Price focused on him with the whole debrief paused, thankfully it was just the team, or what part of the team was not in quarantine.

“No sir,” Soap grabbed his phone to silence it just as it went off again.

Price actually looked doubtful as the phone continued to buzz with more incoming messages. “Are you sure?”

“Yes sir.” He looked down at the phone before looking back up at him. “LT is bored and they're not going to clear him for another few days.” The phone was silenced but it would still buzz when another message came in.

“I'm surprised they have been able to hold him so long. I figured he would be out the next day, not in quarantine for nearly a week.” Price looked contemplative.

“Yeah, how are they doing that all of a sudden?” Gaz spoke up looking between the two men. “It's kind of scary.”

“It really is,” Soap agreed as he frowned down at his phone. “I didn't think anyone could stop the LT like that if he really put some effort into it. He has from what I can tell but he won't tell me any details, just tells me not to worry about it.”

Price gave a bit of a snort as he pulled out a cigar to stick it in his mouth even if he wasn't going to smoke it, chewing on the end got some nicotine in his system. “The new doctor,” he said like that explained everything. “She was there just before Ghost became The Ghost. She could do it then as well, even showed him a few new techniques from what I can tell.”

Soap frowned a bit as he looked down at his phone wondering about that connection for a moment before shaking his head to clear it. “At least she let him keep his phone. He would be climbing the walls if he didn't have something to do.”

Price nodded with a slightly resigned sigh knowing the meeting wouldn't really have a point as the only one paying attention would likely be Gaz (debatable) and maybe the mouse that seemed to call their debrief room home for the time being. He hadn't made an effort to get rid of it yet as it was an amusing little distraction when one of the higher-ups got to be too boring even for him. “We'll come back to at another time. There isn't a lot of new information and we're already down one person.” He had just finished the sentence and already both sergeants were nearly out of the room. “Well at least it was a quick one this time,” he muttered to himself as he gathered the papers he had spread out on the table so he could leave as well.

Gaz stuck close to Soap seeing the look in his eyes he had a good idea of where they were going already. Seeing the base hospital come into view just confirmed his suspicions. “So what's the plan, tav? You know we're not going to be able to just walk in.”

“I'm aware.” Soap was fidgeting with his phone to have something to keep his hands busy while he thought. “Outside of repelling down from the roof, I'm not sure there are a lot of options.”

“He's in an outer room right?” Gaz was looking at the hospital thinking about the best way they would breech tactically. They might not be able to use breech charges but it wasn't too different from what they already did on an almost daily basis.

Soap nodded as he glanced over at his fellow sergeant with a curious tilt of his head. “Yeah, it's around the other side so the window doesn't face sunrise and he can smoke without everyone going nuts since he can't leave the room.”

Gaz looked over at Soap with an eyebrow raised. “He's basically being pampered.”

“Probably why he hates it so much. He apparently hasn't even been able to torment the staff for some amusement. None of them seem to be scared of him but they'll get him basically anything he wants. He even tested it by asking for a gun.” Soap scrolled up in his messages with a small laugh.

“Wait wait, they armed him and still weren't worried.” Gaz gave a soft whistle having more respect for the nurses. He knew Ghost wouldn't really go after him but denying the man freedom, then handing him a gun would make Gaz very hesitant.

“Apparently the gun they gave him didn't have the firing pin and they gave him 5.56 ammo. Apparently, they found it hilarious,”

Gaz stood there looking very confused for a moment before he burst into laughter reaching out for Soap as he tipped forward threatening to topple over as he laughed so hard his face started to turn a concerning purple from lack of oxygen. Soap grinned with his own small laugh. He had basically the same reaction when first reading it. The more Gaz laughed the funnier it seemed to Soap and in almost no time they were both nearly falling over as they laughed with Soap offering a picture of said gun and mismatched ammo that he had gotten late one night. That only sent them further into laughter.
When they were finally able to control their laughter enough Soap wiped the tears away from his eyes leaning on Kyle. “Think we should try saving him from this obvious torture?”

Kyle was also wiping tears away from his eyes as he calmed down enough to realize they were being watched from everywhere. “If his warden is able to keep him contained this long I don't think we stand a chance of breaking him out. Might be able to sneak in for a bit though.” Gaz gave him a slightly crooked smirk. “You know which window is his?”

Soap nodded once he figured out what Gaz was planning. “Think you can boost me up that high?” He regretted the question as soon as it left his mouth though. Being the shortest on the team, even if just by a few centimeters for most, never got glazed over when brought up in any way.

“You're right, you might be too short,” Gaz tried to make it sound casually thoughtful but his big grin gave him away.

“Oh, you're so funny.” He rolled his eyes as he started walking toward the back of the facility along the outside.

Gaz kept up with him as they walked until they found themselves at the back of the facility facing north. “I thought this wing wasn't used most of the time if we didn't have a ton of injuries.” From the ground it looked like all of the rooms were dark and unused but upon closer inspection he could see one of the second-floor windows that was 3 – 4 meters (10-15ft) up because of how the land sloped downward in some places was cracked slightly with an ashtray sitting between the window and wall keeping it open. “He's in quarantine to make sure he actually takes time to recover but they let him smoke?”

“Yep.” Soap almost sounded chipper as they stood under the window. “Less reason for him to be looking for a way out from my guess.”

“Surprised they don't have you stashed away in the closet or something if that's the case.” Gaz was sizing up the height. They could probably make it but it would be a bit of a stretch. Would be good to know in case they ever need it for a mission though.

Soap gave a soft snort. “For one, you're the only one that I've ever told and I don't think he would tell anyone outside of Price if he even decided to do that. Second thing, I'm even worse than him when it comes to sitting still if I'm not on a mission. Containing both of us would probably be a nightmare.”

Gaz nodded in agreement knowing full well how bad stir-crazy the man got when they were between missions. It was one of the reasons why he got tipped off that something was going on between him and the LT. He went from trying to help his stir-crazy friend constantly with increasingly “creative” methods to actually being able to enjoy some of their downtime. Not all of it, they all got a little crazy when between missions for more than a few days, Soap was just the worst one.

“I'm still surprised they're able to contain him.” Kyle looked back up to the window and nearly jumped out of his skin seeing a face looking down at them, or part of a face anyways.

“And what are you two doing out here? Should you be in a meeting with Price?” Ghost had a soft mask rolled up to leave his mouth free with an unlit cigarette between his lips.

“Got out early. For some reason, I don't think he thought we were able to pay attention.” Soap grinned up at him clearly a bit proud that they were able to cut it short even if it wasn't intentional. “It was all boring details anyway. Nothing new has come in yet.”

Ghost gave a hum above them still watching the two sergeants skeptically. “Doesn't explain why you're here though.”

“We're here to spring you LT.” Soap was enjoying being able to actually speak to the man again. The last time he showed up in this same spot some of the older orderlies basically walked him off the premises as they talked about how nice the weather was. It hadn't been a long talk.

“How well did that work out last time?” There was a slight curve to his lips showing that he was enjoying this at least a bit even if it didn't show in his voice. The man could be very expressive without the mask, why hide anything if no one could see his face after all?

“I have help this time.” Soap clapped a hand on Gaz's shoulder.

“This should be amusing to watch.” He pushed the window open so he could rest both elbows on the sill so he could comfortably watch the two. “At least here you won't have to go far when one of you breaks something.”

Soap pouted up at him. “Aw LT, don't be like that. We're here to save you.” A grin pulled at his lips again. “Didn't happen to grow those lush blonde locks out enough to climb though have you?”

“Nope.” He shook his head as he pulled the cigarette out to place it on the tray in front of him. “Even if I had there is no way I would let your filthy shoes anywhere near my hair.”

Gaz gave a surprised bark of laughter. “Kind of sounds like you've given it some thought, LT.”

“Better than mid-day TV.” They all shared a wince knowing well how dull it could get with nothing but mid-day TV shows to mindlessly watch.

Soap was the first to recover. “Well, that's why we're here to save you. Much more fun yelling at trainees or spending time on the range.”

Kyle nodded his agreement though they all knew this would amount to nothing. “You ready to try this?”

“What was our plan again,” Soap asked in a stage whisper. They hadn't really planned anything though he was fairly sure he was following where his fellow sergeant's mind was going.

“I'm going to give you a boost up there. That is everything that I've got.” Planning how to get into a building with enemy combatants came a lot easier than breaking someone out of isolation in a hospital while he was supposed to be healing.

“Let's do it then.” Soap waited for Gaz to get into position before he took the boost up toward the second floor. It took a few tries to get a stable enough perch to fully stand straight, able to reach the window. “Fancy seeing you here handsome,” he said with a cocky smile.

“Well,l apparently I live here now.” Simon's eyes were sparkling with mirth even with his dry tone, reaching up to take the unlit cig from his lips.

Soap reached up to slip his fingers into the man's curly blonde hair at the base of his skull pulling him into a light kiss. “Good thing we're here to save you then.”

Simon reached up to fully pull the mask off while he used his other hand to pull Soap closer, his tongue slipping into the other man's mouth. They didn't pull apart until they both needed air though they didn't pull far apart. “Missed you,” Soap murmured softly still close enough that they were sharing air.

“Hasn't been that long Johnny.” Simon made no move to pull away even as he teased. “Shouldn't be that much longer. She's being paranoid keeping me here like this.”

“Si, you have a punctured lung.” Johnny looked at least mildly distressed when the man played off his injury. It hadn't seemed bad until actually stopped to assess.

Simon leaned his forehead forward a bit to knock against Soap's. “I'm fine. Full recovery is expected with no complications. I'll be back in the field in no time.”

“Not until you can manage the stairs without stopping every third step.” a snarky voice said from deeper in the room.

Ghost sighed as he pulled away a bit to look toward the source. “I can handle stairs fine.” He looked back at Soap watching the pleasant blush creep up the man's cheeks. “You'll be the first to know when I'm finally released,” Ghost promised with a slightly crooked smile pulling at his scarred lips.

“One more before we go,” he asked lightly, smiling as Simon leaned forward slightly to lightly brush their lips together.

Soap looked down at Gaz to see if he had any kind of ideas on which way they could use to get out of their situation. Looking down though he noticed Captain Price casually leaning back against a table with his phone in hand rather obviously recording them. “Don't stop on my account. Please continue.” The two sergeants had to work together to get down without Soap falling and breaking his face. Once he was down though he looked back up toward the window just to find it empty. He sighed before they all started walking away from the hospital.

“How did you know this time?” Ghost looked mildly irritated as he looked at the other occupant in the room.

“Price,” the woman's tone was far too chipper as she turned her phone to let him see. Right on the screen was an image taken from the ground of Soap using Gaz like a ladder just so they could share a kiss.

“Fuck off,” he grumbled softly. “Send me that picture.” The woman turned her phone back toward herself with a soft ping alerting him to a new text message.
