Chapter Text
Everything seemed to move in slow motion. Like they were wading through molasses. The time it took to get down the steps felt like three years.
There’s too much blood. That was the first thought that hit her. The second was he wasn't moving. His chest wasn't moving. She scrambled over to him on her hands and knees. Holly was already there checking for a pulse. Someone must have shoved cotton into Lucy’s ears. Everything was muffled and someone was screaming from what felt like the next house over.
Her next thought was where was George? This was still an active haunting site. She needed her boys to be safe. Holly shoved her aside gently and started chest compressions. Her knees were soggy and cold from the dark liquid seeping across the floor. She cradled his head in between her palms, and rested it on her lap. Holly looked at her with tears streaming down her pretty face. She shook her head back and forth.
She cradled his head in between her palms, and rested it on her lap. Nothing was ok. And it was all her fault. She should have just listened ..to the living. She knew she should get back up and help. She would in a minute. But she could spare a second to hold on. Before she woke up from this nightmare. It had to be a nightmare.
She finally stood up to find George. Holly had mentioned calling authorities. Lucy stayed in a trance, only doing what was instructed of her. Including hacking at a hallway floor with a crowbar to retrieve the source.
By the time DEPRAC showed up, George was sitting on one side of her with a solemn expression on his face, and Holly was quietly sitting on the other, mopping her face with a handkerchief. They loaded his body up and she wished she could follow. But she had to explain what happened to Barnes.
She had to explain why Lockwood was dead.
