Chapter Text
he killed her, so she killed him.
they were soulmates, as fucked up as it was. Bound together by identical black scars--hers on her hip, and his on his back ( fitting ), somehow, they were meant to be what each other’s soul was looking for.
As Jiwoo turns the knife in Mujin’s chest, feeling his heart tear under the pressure of her hands ( he’s dying, he’s not coming back from this one ), she supposes their souls yearned for death. Somewhere in the back of her mind, somewhere small and dusty and a little bloody, and perhaps a little like her apartment where she looked at the snow with Pildo and later destroyed with the bodies of men, she aches for the girl she could’ve been. A girl who outgrew the bullying she faced when she was younger and reclaimed her rightful spot as an honorable policeman’s daughter.
But she was born to the gangster. She never knew the cop. And this man in front of her, this man whose bright eyes were finally dimming ( they shouldn’t look like that ) was the monster that made them both. That killed them both. At the end of it, Mujin really was the monster under the bed.
The way he was able to completely upturn her life, from how he killed her father to how he destroyed her hope, Mujin was always behind the knife everything she was stabbed. He somehow always knew where to cut. She never had a chance.
He gasps, a little bit. His last gulps of air, she figures. She’s glad she’s with him in these moments, glad she’s able to hold him close to her. Another part of her understands why he likes being there for his victim’s last moments. You haven’t seen the real Mujin , Taeju had told her then. No, she supposes she hadn’t. But she understands him now, understands more now than ever all the little things he taught her, to make her like him.
He really was the second half of her heart. The gangster side, the side where the monsters lived. He knew what she was in ways that no one else did because all she had ever been was the gangster’s daughter. ( the first half is in the ground with her father and Pildo, men she never really got to know before they were taken from her. )
Are you ready to kill someone? He had asked her once.
She is now.
