Chapter 1: PROLOGUE - CONTRACT

Chapter Text

It felt strange. The blood trickling down his neck, warm and thick, as he stared at his killer—grinning, eyes alight with twisted delight. The pain of the wound was sharp, but the process of dying itself.. it was an odd mixture of peace and unease.

With a snicker, his killer yanked his hair back, forcing him to meet their gaze.

"Look at you," they purred, voice laced with sick pleasure. "You're slipping away, inch by inch. That expression on your face.. ah, it's intoxicating. I can't wait to have my way with this body once you're fucking dead."

Their grin widened, and Y/N suddenly recalled something important—he wasn't famous. Not even remotely well-known. So who the hell was this? A stalker? He couldn't tell, nor did he care. He was dying anyway.

His silence didn't deter the killer. If anything, it fueled their amusement. "Not even gonna try to run? Call for help?" they mocked, tilting their head.

Y/N remained motionless, his expression unreadable. That irritated them.

"Say something, bitch," they snapped, voice laced with frustration. "Don't leave me hanging."

Then, it clicked. The only person he knew with this level of sadistic obsession—Sarah. His ex.

A weak chuckle escaped his bloodied lips. "...Sarah. I don't think I've written my will yet."

That caught her off guard. She had expected fear, insults, desperate pleading. But a will? Her brows lifted in surprise before amusement curled at the edges of her mouth.

"Your will?" she mused. "How considerate. Don't worry, I'll write it down for you."

Silence stretched between them before Y/N spoke again, voice growing weaker.

"..Include my niece. You remember her name, don't you? I told you about her, once. Give her my necklace."

His trembling fingers fumbled with the blood-slicked chain around his neck before he finally managed to pull it off, holding it out to her.

Sarah hesitated. She should've been ecstatic—her ex, soon to be lifeless, hers to keep forever in her basement. And yet.. something about his request struck a nerve. It was almost heartbreaking.

Still, she accepted the necklace with a nod. "Fine. That's the only part of your will I'll honor. Most of your stuff will go to me, but I'll send some to your relatives. Wouldn't want to look suspicious, after all."

A faint smile ghosted over Y/N's lips. "You're as crazy as ever."

And with that, he exhaled one final, shallow breath—before everything faded to black.

But it wasn't the end.

A voice—soft yet chilling—cut through the void.

"Oh, you're far too young to die, don't you think?"

The moment his consciousness faded, Y/N found himself seated in an unfamiliar chair. Across from him sat a woman, her eerie smile unwavering, eyes gleaming with something unreadable.

(Okay, yall shut up, ik what you're gna say)

He didn't feel pain anymore. No warmth, no cold. Just.. nothing. His body—no, his mental form—was eerily pristine, untouched by the blood and violence that had ended his life.

With a calm exhale, he broke the silence.

"..So, is this the part where you judge whether I go to heaven or hell?"

The woman chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. "That's usually how it goes for humans from your world," she admitted, circling around him with an air of unsettling grace. "But you.. you're an exception."

Her words lingered, heavy yet strangely soothing.

"Your life," she continued, "was no paradise. Every day felt like hell, didn't it? Parents too busy for you, siblings scattered overseas, barely any real friends.. and in the end, your own ex-lover killed you."

She stopped before him, her piercing gaze locking onto his.

"In an average case, someone like you would've taken their own life long ago—and been sent straight to hell for their selfishness." A smirk danced on her lips. "But you didn't. You held on. And not for your family. Not for your friends."

She leaned in slightly, her voice almost a whisper.

"You lived for one person. Your niece."

Y/N's expression remained unreadable, but his fingers twitched at the mention of her.

"You barely saw her, hardly got the chance to be in her life. She's a teenager now, far past the stage of needing you. And yet, you clung to life for her sake."

He parted his lips to speak—but the woman's fingers pressed gently against them, silencing him. Her touch was neither warm nor cold. Just.. foreign.

"I told you all this," she murmured, her smile widening, "but that's not the real reason you're here."

Straightening, she tilted her head, her gaze lingering as if reading into his very soul.

"You don't feel fear."

A statement. Not a question.

"But people fear you. Your presence unsettles them. Your very existence is enough to keep them at arm's length." She chuckled. "That's why you barely have any friends."

Removing her fingers from his lips, she finally stepped back.

"I'm giving you three choices."

Her voice was clear, unwavering.

"First, Rebirth. A new family, a fresh start—but no memories of your past life. Second, Heaven. A peaceful eternity, free from all suffering. And Lastly," A slow, knowing grin stretched across her face. "Be transported to another world with your memories intact."

She folded her hands behind her back.

"But," she added, her tone laced with amusement, "I won't tell you the catch until you've made your choice."

Y/N leaned back, considering.

Rebirth? A gamble. There was no guarantee he wouldn't end up in a struggling or abusive family.

Heaven? It sounded peaceful, sure—but it didn't appeal to him. An eternity of stillness wasn't what he wanted.

That left only one option.

"Another world. With my memories intact." His voice was firm. "Now, what's the catch?"

The woman's grin widened, satisfaction gleaming in her eyes.

"Before I explain the details," she began, "you should know—this world is vastly different from yours. Powers exist. Cursed spirits lurk in the shadows. But don't worry—you'll receive the basic knowledge once you arrive."

She took a step closer, her presence looming.

"You see, I require a contract."

Y/N narrowed his eyes.

"You will inherit my power—'Fear'—but in exchange.." Her voice dropped to a near whisper, laced with something almost.. intimate.

"I will have the right to interfere with your mind. And on rare occasions.. I may take control of your body for one minute."

The air around them seemed to shift, heavy with unspoken consequences.

Y/N exhaled slowly, eyes unreadable.

"And if I refuse?"

The woman's eerie smile never wavered.

"Option 3 is no more."

A pause.

And then, Y/N nodded.

"Fair enough."

Her eerie smile widened in delight. She leaned in close, so near that Y/N could feel the cold presence of something truly inhuman.

"Excellent choice," she whispered, eyes gleaming. "Any questions before the transportation?"

Y/N took a moment to think before nodding. "Your power—'Fear.' I want to know exactly how it works."

At his request, she leaned back, crossing one leg over the other with an amused expression.

"Well," she mused, "it's quite simple. With my power, you'll be able to sense a person's deepest fear just by scanning them. It takes about a second, sometimes less. Once you know their fear, you can manifest it as your own power."

Her fingers traced an invisible pattern in the air as she continued.

"For example—if someone fears fire, you can wield fire against them. If they fear drowning, you can make them suffocate on dry land. Their fears become your weapons."

She smiled, tilting her head.

"But keep in mind, every fear you take is stored in your mind. The more you gather, the more power you'll get but more twisted your psyche may become. I said may because you won't be a crazy maniac when I'm around."

Y/N remained silent, absorbing the information.

"Oh, and that's just the core ability," she added, waving a hand dismissively. "You'll also have access to other fear-related powers: Bloodlust, Eerie Gaze, Endless Nightmare.. and a few others I'll introduce when I feel like it."

She paused, watching him with unreadable amusement.

"Since you're going to that world, you'll gain additional abilities as well—Domain Expansion, Black Flash, and more. As I mentioned before, you'll understand them instinctively once you arrive."

Her eyes flickered with something dangerous.

"So? Any more questions?"

Y/N shook his head.

"Good." She clapped her hands together, the space around them distorting.

"To Universe: 7U7U75U."

The world blurred, her voice echoing as he felt himself being pulled away.

"Have fun with my power, darling. I'll be watching."

And with a final, teasing wave, she vanished—just as Y/N's new life began.
