Work Text:

“Human, six o’clock,” Kevin said to Juyeon.

”Huh?” Juyeon asked.

”Behind you,” Kevin sighed. “Wonder how he ended up in here?”

Juyeon turned around to see a tall, handsome human looking around the club like he was lost.

“He looks like a good meal to me,” Jacob, Kevin’s boyfriend and sire, added. Juyeon swatted him on the shoulder.

”You’ve got plenty of willing feeders,” Juyeon said.

”I was talking about for you,” Jacob rolled his eyes. “You haven’t had a regular feeder in a while if I’m remembering correctly.”

”And you’re suggesting I feed on him?” Juyeon asked.

”Are you just extra dense today?” Kevin asked. Juyeon was quickly remembering why he didn’t go out with Jacob and Kevin very often. He watched the human struggle in the dim lighting which was practically daylight to vampires. Then he saw another vampire approach him. Juyeon appeared in a puff of smoke over to where they were standing and positioned his shoulder between the other vampire and the human.

”Sorry, this one’s taken,” he said. The other vampire glared, but backed off.

”I think I’m lost,” the human admitted.

”I assume you weren’t looking for a vampire bar,” Juyeon replied.

”I was looking for Scar?” The human said.

”Well, you found it, but it’s not a human friendly establishment. Unless you want to be fed on, in which case you’re in the right place,” Juyeon told him.

”Oh, no, I’m not interested in that,” the human shook his head. Juyeon’s eyes went to the human’s neck, the vein in his neck pulsing wildly. His heart was loud enough to catch every vampire’s attention in the entire place.

”What’s your name?” Juyeon asked.

”Younghoon,” the human replied, still trying to orient himself.

”I’m Juyeon. Would you like me to take you home? Or at least walk you out so you won’t be fed on?” He asked.

”You’re not going to feed on me?” Younghoon asked.

”I’ve eaten recently,” Juyeon replied. It was the truth. He’d gone to a Feeder Bar last week and at his age could go up to 3 weeks between feeds. Juyeon held out his hand and Younghoon took it.

”You’ve got big hands,” Younghoon mused.

”You know what they say about vampires with big hands,” Juyeon said. Younghoon shook his head. “Big fangs.”

It took a second for Younghoon to get the joke, then he laughed - a loud, boisterous sound. Juyeon liked that sound. He smiled at Younghoon as he escorted him back to the door, other vampires moving out of their way. When they stepped outside into the chilly March night, Younghoon looked over at Juyeon.

”Would you mind walking me home?” He asked.

”I can,” Juyeon nodded.

”I don’t live far, unless you were busy?” Younghoon ventured.

”Honestly, it’ll be nice to get a break from my pack members. Third wheeling for them can be so annoying sometimes,” Juyeon replied.

”They’re a couple?” Younghoon asked as they walked.

”Most of my pack are coupled. I’m one of the few who isn’t,” Juyeon told him. It was mostly by choice. Hookups were a lot easier when there wasn’t a partner waiting back at the nest with questions about why you smelled like another vampire or worse, a human. Jacob and Kevin had been particularly annoying about his relationship status lately. It was why they’d been at Scar in the first place.

”This is me,” Younghoon stopped them in front of a modest apartment building. “You’re welcome to come up if you want.”

”Sure,” Juyeon smiled. Younghoon smiled back, a sight Juyeon wanted to sear into his brain, and led him in.

”I don’t have guests much,” Younghoon commented as he opened the door. Juyeon didn’t see anything wrong with the apartment. It was furnished with dark colors similar to how most vampires kept their nests. Younghoon even had blackout curtains.

“It’s nice,” Juyeon reassured him. Younghoon smiled at him then bit his lip.

”Can I ask you something?” He asked.

”Of course,” Juyeon replied.

”I don’t normally do this, but I also don’t normally end up in vampire bars, but can I kiss you?” Younghoon blushed like he was asking for something far more scandalous than kissing.

”You can do more than kissing if you want,” Juyeon said, pulling Younghoon into him. He knew humans were warm, but this one seemed extra warm.

“I’ve never done anything with a vampire before,” Younghoon said, wrapping his arms around Juyeon’s shoulders.

”Then kissing is a good place to start,” Juyeon grinned. Their lips were a breath away when Younghoon stopped.

”Wait, your fangs won’t like, pop out will they?” He asked.

”No, my fangs only come out when I need to feed, I’m angry, or I’m really horny,” Juyeon replied.

”Okay,” Younghoon nodded, still looking a little unsure. Juyeon pushed up his lip to show his fang sheathed in his gums.

”I promise I won’t bite you, accidentally or intentionally,” he said.

”Okay,” Younghoon joined their lips. It felt like time slowed down when Younghoon kissed him. All too often, time felt like it was going at speed. Yet when they kissed, it felt like they were moving in slow motion. Younghoon’s hands on his body, his lips against Juyeon’s, it was almost euphoric. Juyeon couldn’t remember the last time he felt like this just kissing someone. Then he felt Younghoon trying to open his pants.

”Wait, shit, sorry. Is this okay?” He asked, his pupils blown out and almost panting.

”Perfectly fine,” Juyeon nosed up Younghoon’s cheek and placed a kiss under his eye.

”I’ve never slept with a vampire before,” Younghoon said.

”I figured that was under the heading of not doing anything with a vampire before,” Juyeon teased.

”Right,” Younghoon laughed a little.

”You can top,” Juyeon said.

”Are you sure?” Younghoon asked.

”Yeah, it’s better this way,” Juyeon replied, kissing him again. Younghoon led them to the bedroom, clothing littering their way there. They tumbled onto the bed, Juyeon practically presenting to Younghoon.

“Wait, do we need lube or something?” Younghoon asked.

“Only if you want it. I don’t need it,” Juyeon replied.

“Maybe a little,” Younghoon said, reaching over to the bedside table and pulling out a small bottle. Juyeon could hear the human’s pulse thundering in his ears. Normally it was out of fear. This was an entirely different experience. Younghoon wanted him and Juyeon knew he wouldn’t hurt him in the process. He felt Younghoon slide into him carefully.

“You can go hard if you want. You won’t hurt me,” Juyeon reassured him.

“You’re sure?” Younghoon asked.

“I’m 300 years old, I’ve done this a time or two,” Juyeon replied.

“I guess so,” Younghoon laughed a little. He put his hands on Juyeon’s hips and thrust into him harder. Part of Juyeon wished he could see Younghoon. The part of him where he bit into the pillow under him, full fangs, knew he should stay like this. Juyeon couldn’t remember the last time he was this turned on during sex. It was usually part of his feeding ritual. Humans felt less pain if they were aroused, so he’d fuck his meals. He hadn’t fucked anyone for the sake of fucking them in decades. Juyeon buried his face in the pillow and growled. Younghoon froze.

“Keep going,” Juyeon picked his head up.

“If you’re sure,” Younghoon said.

“You’re doing great,” Juyeon praised. Younghoon adjusted his hands and started again. Juyeon buried his face in the pillow he’d just bitten and let the human fuck him. Then he felt Younghoon’s hips begin to stutter.

”I’m close,” Younghoon admitted.

”Go ahead,” Juyeon replied. Younghoon draped himself over Juyeon’s back, a gesture that could almost be deemed romantic, and came hard in him. Younghoon whined and whimpered into Juyeon’s back as he came. Juyeon felt himself tip over the edge and bit the pillow again. Oops. Younghoon pulled out carefully as if Juyeon were a human partner and Juyeon rolled over, tucking Younghoon under his arm.

”If it’s not too nosy, how did you become a vampire?” Younghoon asked, tracing patterns on Juyeon’s chest.

”I wanted to. I was turned about 300 years ago. I was actually a prince when I was alive. As some of my packmates like to accuse me of, I wanted to spend eternity fucking around. They aren’t entirely wrong,” Juyeon explained.

”Well, you got some tonight,” Younghoon laughed a little.

”I did and I very much enjoyed it. Thank you,” Juyeon kissed him.

”Can I tell you something?” Younghoon looked at him.

”Anything,” Juyeon said.

”That was my first time topping,” Younghoon said and Juyeon could easily see his blush in the dark.

”You did great. I never would’ve known if you hadn’t told me,” Juyeon grinned.

”Really?” Younghoon stared at him.

”I’m over 300 years old. I’ve fucked a lot,” Juyeon chuckled, mostly at himself.

”I guess so,” Younghoon mused. “I’d like to do it again. Maybe not tonight, but sometime.”

”I’d be more than happy to oblige,” Juyeon replied.

”Do you like being a vampire?” Younghoon asked.

”I got what I asked for, if that’s what you mean. I was never much into being outside or basking in sunlight when I was alive, so other than a few biological changes, I don’t notice much difference,” Juyeon said. Younghoon adjusted himself in Juyeon’s grip, resting his head on Juyeon’s shoulder.

”I love being outside. I always have a picnic on the first warm day of spring, even if it’s just me. There’s a park near here and a lot of people walk their dogs there. I think I spend more time petting dogs than anything else. It’s kind of a tradition for me, I guess,” Younghoon told him.

”That sounds nice. You like dogs?” Juyeon asked.

”I love dogs. I’d like to get one eventually, but I work a lot so I don’t really have time to take care of one properly,” Younghoon said.

”I prefer cats, but they also don’t bark incessantly at vampires. They just kind of ignore us,” Juyeon observed.

”I like cats, too. I like all animals really, but I like dogs the best,” Younghoon smiled a little.

”You’re the best human I’ve met in a long time,” Juyeon smiled back.

”Thanks,” Younghoon said. “I think.”

”Definitely a compliment,” Juyeon had to stop himself from planting kisses all over Younghoon’s face. “Don’t let me keep you awake if you need to sleep.”

”No, I like talking to you,” Younghoon replied.

”Good,” Juyeon nuzzled the side of Younghoon’s head.

Juyeon returned to the nest the next morning after Younghoon left for work. Most of the pack was sleeping, and Juyeon was devoutly hoping Jacob and Kevin had decided to make an early morning of it. As he skulked to his room, he was met by one of the few pack members younger than him.

”How’d your date go?” Eric asked.

”So that’s what they said it was, huh?” Juyeon replied. Eric gave an exaggerated sniff over Juyeon.

”You reek of the living,” he said.

”And you’re spending too much time with Sangyeon if you’re talking like that,” Juyeon rolled his eyes.

”Okay, you smell like a human. That better?” Eric followed him into his room.

”That would be because I spent the night with a human,” Juyeon said, kicking off his boots.

”Fucked him is more like,” Eric observed.

”Technically he fucked me,” Juyeon corrected.

”Oh really? The Debauched Prince let someone else be in charge? If my heart were still beating, it might stop,” Eric dramatically placed his hand over where his unbeating heart was.

”I didn’t want to accidentally bite him,” Juyeon admitted. Eric stared at him.

”You what?” He said.

”I didn’t want to accidentally bite him,” Juyeon repeated.

”Do you…like him? Like like him?” Eric questioned.

”I mean, maybe? I met him less than 12 hours ago,” Juyeon said as he continued to get changed.

”Yeah, but I’ve never seen you care about accidentally biting someone. Don’t you usually fuck your food?” Eric wasn’t letting up.

”Typically, but I didn’t want to hurt him. He wandered into Scar last night and was gonna get bitten if I didn’t do something,” Juyeon replied.

”Oh, Jacob and Kevin told us everything when they got back,” Eric smirked.

”I’m sure they did,” Juyeon huffed.

”What?” Eric asked.

”Insufferable gossips,” Juyeon pushed the lid off his coffin. “Shouldn’t you be asleep?”

”I’m going. You know I like to walk around a little after a few rounds with Sangyeon,” Eric replied.

“Too much,” Juyeon shot him a look.

”It’s not like you don’t know already,” Eric said. “I want all the details later.”

”And you’ll get none of them,” Juyeon climbed into his coffin and pulled the lid over, signaling the end of the conversation. As he stared into the dark, he considered what Eric said. Did he like Younghoon as more than just a one time fuck? He had gone out of his way to not accidentally bite him, which he never did. He’d spent the night, which he never did. He wanted to see him again even if they didn’t have sex, which he definitely never did. His phone screen lighting up next to him got his attention.

Younghoon: I was gonna say hope you got home safe, but you’re a vampire

Juyeon chuckled as he read the message. Younghoon probably agonized over even sending the text.

Juyeon: Got home safe. About to go to sleep. Catch up with you around sunset?

Younghoon: It’s a date. I mean, unless you don’t want it to be

Juyeon: Definitely want it to be

Younghoon: Perfect. Good night. Good morning?

Juyeon: Good night 💕

Juyeon fell asleep excited by the prospect of talking to Younghoon again. Maybe Eric was right after all.

”Do you want to come over?” Younghoon asked when Juyeon picked up the phone that evening.

”That eager to see me again?” Juyeon teased.

”Maybe,” Younghoon replied slowly.

”I’d love to see you again,” Juyeon smiled.

”Should I make dinner? Wait, you don’t eat food, do you?” Younghoon said.

”Hold on, I‘ll be right there,” Juyeon smoked out of the nest and into Younghoon’s apartment. The human jumped and almost dropped his phone when Juyeon appeared in front of him.

”How’d you do that? Don’t you have to be invited?” Younghoon asked.

”I can teleport short distances and our nest isn’t very far from your apartment. We look like smoke when we’re not in bodily form. Also an invitation can be very broad. By asking if I wanted to come over, you invited me in,” Juyeon explained, hanging up and putting his phone in his pocket.

”Right,” Younghoon replied like he understood when clearly he didn’t.

”As to your question about food, I can eat human food but since I don’t have active digestion it just sort of sits in my stomach. Not very pleasant,” Juyeon told him.

”Would you mind if I ate?” Younghoon asked.

”Not at all,” Juyeon replied. He followed Younghoon to the kitchen where he pulled some travel containers out of the fridge.

”My mom sent me home with a bunch of leftovers when I went to see my parents this past weekend. She’s a great cook,” Younghoon smiled as he put the food on a plate and into the microwave.

”Eating is more of a necessity than a pleasure these days, but some humans feel pleasure while being fed on,” Juyeon said.

”Would you feed off me?” Younghoon asked, his eyes wide.

”Only if you wanted me to and even then probably not,” Juyeon smiled at him. “I’d have to ask permission for that too.”

”Really?” Younghoon asked, taking his food out of the microwave and sitting at the small table in the kitchen.

”It makes the process easier,” Juyeon sat across from him. It wasn’t a total lie. A willing feeder made for an easier meal than jumping some poor unsuspecting human in the middle of the night. But Younghoon didn’t need to know that.

Younghoon nodded as he took a bite of his food. Juyeon watched as a happy smile spread across his face. It almost made Juyeon wish he could taste it, too.

”Good?” He asked.

”So good,” Younghoon smiled back.

“Do you see your parents often?” Juyeon asked.

”About once a month. They don’t live far and I could probably see them more, but I let work get in the way,” Younghoon told him.

”Didn’t know much about that even when I was alive,” Juyeon laughed.

”What did you do when you were alive?” Younghoon asked.

”I was a prince. My packmates call me the Debauched Prince,” Juyeon replied.

“The what?” Younghoon stared at him.

“The Debauched Prince. I liked to drink a lot and sleep around. I was turned so I could keep doing that. Though it turns out drinking doesn’t really work well if you’re dead,” Juyeon hadn’t felt shy about talking about his past in a long time. Maybe ever.

“If you fed off a human who had been drinking could you get drunk?” Younghoon asked.

“Probably. I prefer my feeders sober,” Juyeon told him. “There is something I’d like to try that I’ve never done as a vampire before though.”

“What’s that?” Younghoon picked up his plate and rinsed it in the sink.

“Give a blowjob,” Juyeon grinned at him.

“But wouldn’t your fangs come out?” Younghoon questioned.

“Maybe, I don’t know. Only if you’re willing, of course,” Juyeon said. Younghoon leaned against the counter and bit his lip. Juyeon could hear his heart thundering in his chest and smell the excitement wafting off him.

“Sure,” Younghoon agreed.

“Wherever you’re most comfortable,” Juyeon gestured to the apartment.

“This is my apartment,” Younghoon laughed a little.

“Of course it is,” Juyeon stood up and kissed him. Humans were forbidden at the nest, even regular feeders. Only vampires were allowed there.

“I think sitting on the couch,” Younghoon said. Juyeon kept kissing Younghoon as they made their way to the couch and Younghoon opened up his pants. He went to pull down his underwear and Juyeon stopped him.

“I want to tease you a little first,” he grinned.

“Oh, okay,” Younghoon agreed. Juyeon settled on the floor between Younghoon’s legs and began mouthing at his cock through his underwear. There was something satisfying about the motion without actually biting down. A wet spot darkened the fabric from precum leaking at the tip. Juyeon hooked his fingers in the waistband of Younghoon’s underwear and pulled it down, his cock giving a wet slap against his lower belly. Younghoon hissed at the feeling of the cool air on his skin. Juyeon licked a long stripe up the underside of Younghoon’s dick. He watched the human as he teased the tip with his tongue.

“No fangs?” Younghoon breathed.

“Not yet,” Juyeon smirked. It was rapidly becoming a challenge, though. Sucking Younghoon’s cock was doing things to him Juyeon hadn’t felt in centuries. He wrapped his lips around Younghoon’s dick and ran his tongue over the sensitive spot just below the head. Younghoon’s hands flew to Juyeon’s hair and pulled then he let go.

“Sorry, sorry,” he apologized.

“No, I like it,” Juyeon popped off and looked up at him.

“Your eyes,” Younghoon said.

“Are they red?” Juyeon asked. Younghoon nodded. “Means I’m horny. Totally normal.” His fangs were trying to inch out, but Juyeon wasn’t letting them. He put his mouth back on Younghoon’s dick and continued what he was doing. Younghoon put his hands back in Juyeon’s hair, but didn’t pull as hard this time. Juyeon felt Younghoon’s cock twitch in his mouth and the noise of his heart and breath was almost deafening. He was close. Juyeon wrapped his lips around his teeth and bit down slightly. Younghoon came hard straight down his throat. His stomach wouldn’t feel great for the next day or so, but it didn’t matter. He’d been able to pleasure a partner and not bite them.

“That was…” Younghoon began, his eyes glazed over.

“Good?” Juyeon prompted, tucking Younghoon back into his underwear and pulling his pants up. He helped a dazed Younghoon to the bedroom and lied down next to him. Under most circumstances, this would be the ideal time to feed. Something about Younghoon stopped him every time so far.

“Do you?” Younghoon looked over at him.

“I’m fine,” Juyeon smiled back.

“Okay,” Younghoon nodded a little.

“Are you normally this out of it after a blowjob?” Juyeon asked.

“I don’t normally get blowjobs from vampires,” Younghoon replied.

“You liked the rush?” Juyeon propped his head up on his hand.

“I liked you,” Younghoon smiled.

“Want me to spend the night again?” Juyeon asked.

“If you don’t have other plans,” Younghoon replied.

“None at all,” Juyeon kissed him.

“I might fall asleep,” Younghoon warned him.

“That’s fine. I’m used to it,” Juyeon replied.

“If you’re sure,” Younghoon said, stifling a yawn.

“I’m sure,” Juyeon agreed. For the first time in centuries, Juyeon meant it.

Younghoon’s phone buzzed with a text right when he got to his desk the next morning.

Juyeon: Made it home safe just in case you were wondering 💕

Younghoon smiled at the message. It had only been two days, but Younghoon felt like Juyeon somehow fit in his life. He couldn’t explain it.

Younghoon: Good. See you again tonight?

He quickly texted back before his boss or coworkers could see, not that any of them would complain. He was a good worker.

Juyeon: It’s a date

Younghoon: Perfect. Sleep well my vampire

Juyeon: Have a good day my human

Younghoon put his phone on silent then back in his bag. He smiled thinking about the messages.

“Hey,”

The voice shocked Younghoon back into the present. He looked up to see Renjun standing in front of his desk.

“Hey,” Younghoon stopped smiling.

“I was gonna grab lunch and thought you might want to come,” he shrugged.

“Oh, um…” Younghoon started.

“Just as coworkers if that’s what you’re thinking,” Renjun clarified.

“Uh, yeah, sure,” Younghoon agreed.

“The weather’s nice so I was thinking that cafe down the street with the patio,” Renjun suggested as Younghoon got his bag.

“Sure,” Younghoon nodded. It was sunny and still a little chilly, but their work clothes would be warm enough. Younghoon’s mind wandered to Juyeon and how he didn’t know if he could even be out during the day.

“Something on your mind?” Renjun asked as they got their sandwiches.

“No, well, kinda. Promise you won’t tell?” Younghoon said.

“Our secret,” Renjun replied.

“I’m kinda seeing someone, but he’s a vampire,” Younghoon lowered his voice at the word ‘vampire’. Renjun looked sufficiently shocked.

“A vampire? How’d you meet a vampire?” He asked.

“By accident. I walked into the wrong club and he walked me out then walked me home. I dunno, we just kinda clicked,” Younghoon smiled a little at the thought of walking into Scar.

“He didn’t try to bite you? I’ve heard vampires always try to bite humans,” Renjun said.

“He said he doesn’t want to bite me even if I wanted him to,” Younghoon told him.

“Really? But you’re dating?” Renjun was fascinated. This was also probably the most Younghoon had talked to his coworker since he started working there a year ago.

“I guess. I haven’t actually asked if we’re dating and he’s asleep right now,” Younghoon said.

“Yeah I guess it’s midnight for them or something,” Renjun looked up at the sky.

“Yeah I guess,” Younghoon agreed. He shielded his eyes as he looked up at the sky. It was a clear, almost cloudless day. Somewhere Juyeon was asleep just like Younghoon slept through most of last night.

“So he’s nice? I mean all we hear about is how vampires are feral and no better than wild animals,” Renjun asked.

”Yeah, he’s really nice. Definitely not like a wild animal,” Younghoon said.

”You’re the last person I would’ve thought would date a vampire,” Renjun observed.

”Really?” Younghoon asked.

”I mean, I don’t know you that well, but you seem so…I dunno…normal?” Renjun was clearly struggling with what to say.

”Not someone who would be dating a monster?” Younghoon tried to help him out rather than get offended.

”Yeah, pretty much,” Renjun said.

”I guess I’ll take that as a compliment,” Younghoon smiled.

”Might as well,” Renjun smiled back. “Guess we better get back to work.”

”Guess so,” Younghoon looked at his watch. They walked back to the office mostly in silence.

”It was nice having lunch with you. We should do it again sometime,” Renjun said.

”Sure,” Younghoon agreed. It wasn’t like he could meet Juyeon for lunch. The thought saddened him a little.

”You okay?” Renjun asked.

”Fine, just gotta get back to work,” Younghoon tried to smile. He wasn’t sure it worked. Renjun nodded and walked back to his desk.

”Sorry I’m late, I had to pick these up,” Juyeon said as he smoked into Younghoon’s living room. He held out a bouquet of red roses. “I heard humans like these.”

“Thank you, they’re beautiful,” Younghoon accepted them. “I don’t think I have a vase though.”

Younghoon looked through his cabinets until he found a tall enough drinking glass and filled it with water. He put the flowers in and admired them.

”So you like them?” Juyeon asked.

”I do,” Younghoon kissed him.

“Good,” Juyeon smiled.

“I had a question. I know we just met and I don’t know how things work with vampires, but are we dating?” Younghoon asked. Juyeon looked momentarily surprised then regained his composure.

“I’ve never really dated anyone, but I’m not opposed to the idea,” he replied.

“I was having lunch with one of my coworkers and he asked so I thought I’d see if it was something you’re open to,” Younghoon explained.

“I’m open to it,” Juyeon nodded. “I did bring you flowers after all.”

“You did,” Younghoon grinned.

“And this is the third night we’re spending with each other,” Juyeon wrapped his arms around Younghoon’s waist and kissed him.

“It is,” Younghoon rested his arms on Juyeon’s shoulders and returned the kiss. “I promise to stay awake longer tonight.”

“I was hoping to get you in bed again,” Juyeon told him.

“You want me to fuck you again?” Younghoon asked.

“Maybe or maybe I could ride you?” Juyeon suggested. “I think I’ve proven I’m able to control my fangs.”

“You have,” Younghoon agreed.

“To the bedroom then?” Juyeon grinned.

“You know the way,” Younghoon nodded in the direction of his bedroom. Juyeon took his hand and led him down the hall. He carefully undressed Younghoon, then himself, and pressed Younghoon back onto the bed.

“Lube is in the top drawer, I know you don’t need it though,” Younghoon said.

“But I’m sure it makes it better for you,” Juyeon took out the lube and began generously lubing Younghoon’s hard cock.

“It does,” Younghoon nodded as he tried not to squirm away from Juyeon’s touch.

“I’ve got you,” Juyeon leaned down to kiss him before seating himself on Younghoon’s cock. “You’re so warm.”

“You’re…not,” Younghoon laughed a little.

“Yeah, sorry about that,” Juyeon laced their fingers together as he started moving. “Bad circulation.”

Younghoon found himself laughing even though the joke wasn’t that funny. He was on the edge of fully falling for Juyeon. He could feel it.

“I’m glad you think I’m funny,” Juyeon smiled down at him.

“I do,” Younghoon agreed. He let himself get lost in the feeling of Juyeon around his dick, their fingers entwined, and the noises he couldn’t stop as Juyeon rode him.

“Are you enjoying yourself?” Younghoon asked.

”Of course, why do you ask?” Juyeon replied.

”Your eyes are normal,” Younghoon told him.

”My eyes only turn red if I’m really horny. It’s actually pretty rare,” Juyeon said, not letting up the pace on Younghoon’s cock.

”Promise?” Younghoon asked.

”Promise,” Juyeon smiled down at him. “Now what can I do to make my human feel even better?”

”Oh, um, I like having my nipples played with,” Younghoon replied. Juyeon looked like he was going to release their hands for a moment then put his mouth on Younghoon’s chest, licking and sucking at his left nipple. Younghoon’s back arched in pleasure, his whines and moans getting louder. He felt a puff of air against his chest, which was probably Juyeon laughing. He had every right to be pleased with himself. Of course, Younghoon couldn’t remember the last time he’d been with someone three nights in a row. Maybe never. And they definitely weren’t a vampire. Juyeon switched his attention to Younghoon’s right nipple and he felt his dick start to twitch.

”That’s it,” Juyeon said against his chest. “Relax for me, darling.”

Younghoon let out the breath he’d been holding and came seconds later. Juyeon captured Younghoon’s lips with his own, kissing him hard. Younghoon let go and pulled Juyeon closer into him as he came.

“I…” Younghoon began.

”You?” Juyeon prompted.

”That was great,” Younghoon smiled up at him. He glanced down and saw his torso was clean. “Did you come?”

”I did, but vampires don’t have most bodily fluids so when I come it’s basically a dry orgasm,” Juyeon replied.

”Oh, I guess that makes sense,” Younghoon said. Juyeon rolled off him and cuddled Younghoon under his chin.

”It does take a little getting used to,” Juyeon admitted. “But clean up is easier.”

”I guess it is,” Younghoon laughed a little.

”So how do you want to spend tonight?” Juyeon asked.

”Third night in a row,” Kevin’s voice made Juyeon turn when he smoked back into the nest before sunrise. “You must really like him.”

”Since when are you keeping tabs on me?” Juyeon asked.

”We’ve all noticed,” Kevin said. It was then Juyeon realized Jacob and Eric were standing behind Kevin.

“So what’s your useless suggestion?” Juyeon leveled his gaze at them.

”Turn him,” Jacob said.

”I don’t want to turn him. I don’t even want to feed off him even though I know he’d let me,” Juyeon told them.

”The Debauched Prince doesn’t want to feed off a willing human? Are you sure he’s human and not a shapeshifter?” Eric asked.

”Shouldn’t you be getting your ass pounded by Sangyeon?” Juyeon glared at him. Eric’s jaw snapped shut with a click.

”You know being with a human isn’t sustainable,” Jacob pointed out.

”Of course I know that, but I’m not going to turn him,” Juyeon said with a note of finality. “If I want your help, I’ll ask for it.”

The other three didn’t move.

”Leave!” He growled. They smoked off and Juyeon walked to his room in silence. He pulled out his phone and sent Younghoon a message.

Juyeon: Dinner tonight? I know a human / vamp friendly place. Pick you up at 8?

To his surprise, Younghoon responded a few moments later.

Younghoon: Sounds great! Looking forward to it! Sweet dreams my vampire 💕

Juyeon: Have a great day my human 💕

He settled into his coffin with a smile.

“Is this okay?” Younghoon asked when Juyeon smoked into his apartment. He was wearing a white button down, dark jeans, and low ankle boots.

“You look great,” Juyeon praised, kissing Younghoon on the cheek.

“Thanks,” Younghoon blushed. “You said this place is human and vamp friendly?”

“They serve actual food for humans and keep blood bags on hand for the vampires,” Juyeon explained as he took Younghoon’s arm and led him to the small restaurant.

“When’s the last time you went on a date?” Younghoon asked.

“A while, I didn’t really date much while I was alive,” Juyeon chuckled. “You?”

“At least five years. I don’t get out much. Though I’m starting to make a friend at work,” Younghoon replied.

“That’s good. The one you went to lunch with yesterday?” Juyeon asked.

“Yeah, Renjun. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a big group of friends. Is that how your pack is?” Younghoon asked as Juyeon held the door for him.

“I dunno if I’d call my packmates friends. Lately they’re mostly just nosy pains in my ass,” Juyeon huffed.

“How is a pack formed? Sorry, I don’t know much about vampires,” Younghoon asked. The waitress seemed to recognize Juyeon and brought him a glass of thick, red liquid along with a water for Younghoon.

“It’s fine,” Juyeon said after taking a drink, staining his lips dark red. “Packs are usually one or two older sires and all their offspring. The two sires in my pack are Sangyeon and Jacob. The rest of us were sired by one of them, in my case, Sangyeon. He’s over 1000 years old.”

“Wow,” Younghoon marveled.

“He’s not terribly friendly though. I think the longer we’re undead, the less human we become. I guess that makes sense,” Juyeon said, the last part more to himself than Younghoon.

”I guess,” Younghoon agreed. He glanced over the menu. It looked like they had a little of everything.

”What can I get you?” The waitress asked.

”I’ll have the Alfredo pasta. Does it have garlic?” Younghoon asked.

”Our menu is garlic free for our vampire customers,” she replied.

”Does garlic actually repel you?” Younghoon asked Juyeon.

”Not really, it mostly makes us sneeze a lot,” he replied. “I don’t mind crosses or mirrors either.”

”So what is true about vampires?” Younghoon questioned.

”We can’t be out in the sun for long periods or we’ll burn. I could go out for a few minutes if I was fully covered and wearing thick sunscreen. I do sleep in a coffin, but I don’t mind sleeping in a bed. One of my packmates sleeps in a bathtub. He says he prefers it over a coffin. I think he’s claustrophobic. We survive on blood, but it doesn’t have to be human. Human is the ideal source, but we can survive on animal blood if necessary. Some packs don’t live near humans on purpose so they survive on animal blood,” Juyeon explained.

”You can feed on me. If you want to,” Younghoon said, trying to cover his face with his glass as he spoke.

”I know, but I don’t want to,” Juyeon smiled at him. “I prefer to do other things with you.”

”Should I have ordered something lighter?” Younghoon asked.

”No, order whatever you want. This is our first real date,” Juyeon told him.

“I guess it is,” Younghoon smiled a little.

“I hope me not eating isn’t too off putting,” Juyeon said as the waitress brought him a second glass and Younghoon’s pasta.

“It was a little weird at first, but it’s fine now,” Younghoon assured him.

“Good,” Juyeon smiled. He was genuinely enjoying spending time with Younghoon. He was hard pressed to think of a time that was ever true before.

“You okay?” Younghoon asked.

“I’m fine, just thinking about what we’ll do after dinner,” Juyeon put his hand over Younghoon’s warmer one.

“Anything you care to share out loud?” Younghoon looked at him.

“I think I want to keep it a surprise,” Juyeon grinned, his fangs on show for the first time since they met. Younghoon jumped a little. “Sorry, they come out when I feed even if it’s not directly from a source.”

“I guess I just…forgot you were a vampire for a second,” Younghoon replied.

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Juyeon said, carefully wiping his mouth.

”It was meant as one,” Younghoon reassured him.

Juyeon held Younghoon’s hand the entire way back to his apartment after dinner.

”This was nice, going on an actual date,” Younghoon said as they were taking off their shoes.

”I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did too,” Juyeon smiled at him.

“I thought you said you were visible in mirrors,” Younghoon said.

”What?” Juyeon asked. Younghoon pointed to the mirror on the wall of the living room. Younghoon was visible, but Juyeon wasn’t.

”Is it coated in silver?” Juyeon asked.

”I don’t know. It’s been in my family for generations,” Younghoon told him.

”It might be. A lot of older mirrors were coated in silver to check for vampires. Perhaps your ancestors were superstitious?” Juyeon suggested.

”Maybe,” Younghoon shrugged.

”I mean, I’m not going to touch it and find out,” Juyeon said.

”Does it burn you?” Younghoon asked.

”It does,” Juyeon confirmed. “But I have another idea.”

”What’s that?” Younghoon asked.

”Fuck in front of it,” Juyeon grinned. Younghoon looked momentarily scandalized, then like he was actually considering the idea.

”You still want me to top?” Younghoon questioned.

”I’ve really enjoyed it when you top,” Juyeon kissed him.

”That’s every single time,” Younghoon pointed out.

”Exactly,” Juyeon agreed. Younghoon huffed out a laugh.

”Alright vampire, let’s see if this is a silver coated mirror or not,” he said. Juyeon pulled Younghoon into a kiss and began to undress him, Younghoon laughing against his mouth the entire time. They positioned themselves in front of the mirror, Juyeon’s back against Younghoon’s front.

”This looks so weird,” Younghoon observed. He ran his hand down Juyeon’s body and it looked like he was touching empty space. “I could go to the bedroom to get lube or I could just do this.”

Younghoon spit on his hand and rubbed his cock, then entered Juyeon.

”What the fuck? Where’d my dick go?”

They stared at the reflection and it looked like Younghoon’s cock had disappeared.

“I guess if part of a human is inside a vampire, you can’t see it,” Juyeon said.

”Holy shit, this is crazy,” Younghoon was still staring at the mirror.

”Crazier than me giving you a blowjob?” Juyeon asked.

”Definitely more trippy,” Younghoon said.

”What do you know about tripping, human?” Juyeon looked over his shoulder at Younghoon.

”I know enough,” he replied.

”Sure you do,” Juyeon teased, conjuring up memories of his opium fueled youth.

“I don’t know if I can come like this not being able to see my dick and all,” Younghoon observed.

“I think you can,” Juyeon leaned back and captured Younghoon’s lips. He tightened around Younghoon’s cock at the same time.

“Fuck,” Younghoon grunted.

“Come for me, darling. In front of your family’s anti-vampire mirror,” Juyeon said against his mouth. Younghoon whimpered and his hips bucked.

“That’s it, you can do it. No one’s ever fucked me this good,” Juyeon praised. Younghoon wrapped his arms around Juyeon’s waist and came at his words. And maybe a little supernatural bump.

“To the bed?” Younghoon asked when he finished.

“Sounds perfect,” Juyeon agreed. They stumbled down the hall to Younghoon’s bed and quickly settled with Younghoon’s head tucked on Juyeon’s chest.

“Did you enjoy our date?” Juyeon asked.

“It was wonderful. Thank you,” Younghoon smiled, weaving their fingers together.

“I’ve never planned a date before,” Juyeon told him.

“You did great,” Younghoon replied. “It feels like I’ve known you for longer than four days. Is that normal?”

“Honestly I don’t know. Maybe my packmates felt that way when they turned their partners or that’s why they turned their partners,” Juyeon said. He’d never asked any of the pairs about their feelings, but he knew certain members didn’t really have them.

“Maybe it was fate that I wandered into that club,” Younghoon kissed Juyeon’s jaw.

“Maybe,” Juyeon smiled at him. Except fate had never been kind to him.

”Is Sangyeon here?” Juyeon asked when he smoked back into the nest.

”Same place as always,” Haknyeon replied, not bothering to look up from his phone.

”Thanks,” Juyeon went to the pack leader’s room and knocked on his door.

”Enter,” came the slightly annoyed reply. Juyeon opened the door and was greeted by Sangyeon lounging on his opulent couch with Eric’s head between his legs. “Can I help you?”

”I think I’m falling in love with Younghoon,” Juyeon blurted out.

”After glimpsing a faint possibility, I find myself dreaming again,” Sangyeon said, examining one of his rings instead of looking at Juyeon.

”What’s that supposed to mean?” Juyeon asked.

”Unless you turn him, you’re chasing a dream. Vampires and humans can’t be together,” Sangyeon replied.

”I know that. I should’ve known you wouldn’t be useful,” Juyeon huffed.

”If you’re looking for someone to validate your feelings, I’m precisely the wrong person to do that and you know that. You’ve known that since I turned you. If you’re looking for advice on how to turn someone, that I can do,” Sangyeon finally looked at Juyeon.

”I can’t turn him,” Juyeon said.

”Can’t or won’t?” Sangyeon questioned.

”I won’t,” Juyeon clarified.

”Then I don’t see why you sought me out,” Sangyeon shifted his hips and ran his hand through Eric’s hair.

”You’re right, I don’t know why I did,” Juyeon agreed.

”If you change your mind about turning the human, let me know. I can offer several alternatives that are relatively painless to turn him,” Sangyeon said as Juyeon walked out. He almost ran straight into Kevin and Jacob outside the door.

”What do you two want?” Juyeon growled.

“Why don’t you just turn him? Jacob turned me and I’m fine,” Kevin said.

”Because he deserves better than this life!” Juyeon snapped. Kevin jumped, causing Jacob to back away from Juyeon as well. His eyes flashed red and his fangs emerged. “He deserves to get to walk in the sun and pet dogs and go on picnics. If I turn him, then he’s condemned to the dark. We all asked for this. We all wanted this. I’d be turning him into a monster and what kind of love is that?”

They didn’t have an answer for him.

“Stay out of my goddamn love life,” Juyeon snarled as he stormed to his room. He paced his room periodically stopping to kick or throw something. This was what it felt like to be alive. Rage. Pure rage at what he was because it meant he couldn’t have the one person he wanted. The one person he might actually love. If monsters could love.

Younghoon: Sweet dreams my vampire 💕

Juyeon wanted to cry when he read the message even though he didn’t have tears. Younghoon was just getting to work and wanted to make sure Juyeon knew he was thinking about him.

Juyeon:  Have a good day my human 💕

Younghoon: See you tonight?

Juyeon: Of course

It was the most painful two words he’d ever sent.

Younghoon smiled at the text and put his phone away.

“What’s got you so happy?” Renjun asked.

“I think I’m gonna confess to Juyeon tonight,” Younghoon said.

“Really? Haven’t you only been dating less than a week?” Renjun raised an eyebrow.

“Well yeah, but I really feel like we’ve got a connection. Haven’t you ever just clicked with someone before?” Younghoon asked.

“Not really, but I haven’t dated much,” Renjun admitted.

“I think I love him and I want to tell him, but I don’t want to seem like it’s too soon,” Younghoon said.

“Tell him exactly that. You feel like you’ve got a connection and you’re falling for him. You don’t have to say you’re in love with him just yet,” Renjun replied.

“Except I am,” Younghoon sighed, sitting at his desk.

“Then I guess be honest?” Renjun suggested.

“I’ll think of something,” Younghoon nodded. It was going to be a long day.

Younghoon was working out what he was going to say when Juyeon smoked into his apartment at sunset.

“Hi!” he grinned at Juyeon.

“Good to see you,” Juyeon kissed him. “Why are you nervous?”

“Nervous?” Younghoon repeated.

“Your pulse sounds like it’s about to shake the building down,” Juyeon told him.

“Oh, um, I wanted to tell you something, but I’m afraid it’s too soon,” Younghoon replied.

“What is it?” Juyeon asked.

“I love you,” Younghoon blurted out, then blushed.

“I love you too,” Juyeon replied.

“Really?” Younghoon stared at him.

“I didn’t think I could love anyone, much less a human,” Juyeon rested his hand on Younghoon’s face. “I’ve seen a lot of time pass and I never expected this.”

“Are you happy?” Younghoon asked.

“Of course I am,” Juyeon smiled. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“I dunno, you sound sad,” Younghoon replied.

“Human and vampire relationships are complicated. You can never see the nest as long as you’re human so I’d always have to come to you,” Juyeon explained.

“Why can’t I see the nest?” Younghoon asked.

“Safety mostly. A lot of vampires believe letting a human know where we sleep is asking to be killed. The sires in my pack believe that,” Juyeon said. “The only way you’d be allowed at the nest is if you were turned.”

“Oh, that’s…” Younghoon went pale.

“I’m not going to turn you, Younghoon. I would never do that to you,” Juyeon reassured him.

“I know you won’t. I trust you,” Younghoon relaxed into Juyeon’s hold.

“I know you do,” Juyeon held the human close to him. Younghoon’s mind was racing. He’d never considered all the barriers to a human vampire relationship. The idea of being turned was terrifying.

“Let’s go to bed,” Juyeon suggested.

“I like that idea,” Younghoon agreed. Juyeon held Younghoon’s hand as they walked to the bedroom. Something felt different about it this time. Something felt off.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Younghoon asked.

“I’m sure,” Juyeon kissed him and pulled him on the bed. Younghoon chose to get lost in the feeling of Juyeon’s hands on him, his lips trailing over his face and neck, their bodies intertwining. This is what he wanted. Being with someone he loved. That someone just happened to not be human. He got the lube and entered Juyeon almost out of habit. He still felt the same but somehow it didn’t. Younghoon wondered if Juyeon felt it too, but he didn’t want to say anything. If he said something, maybe that meant it was real, not just Younghoon’s nerves from confessing. He came in Juyeon like he always did, resting on the vampire’s body for a moment before pulling out.

“Are you okay?” Juyeon asked.

“Just thinking too much,” Younghoon said.

“We can talk about it if you want,” Juyeon said, tucking Younghoon’s head under his chin like he always did.

“Not really,” Younghoon sighed.

“Okay,” Juyeon kissed his hair. “Do you want to sleep?”

“I think so,” Younghoon replied.

“Sleep well, my human,” Juyeon said.

“Thank you, my vampire,” Younghoon cuddled closer to him and went to sleep.

“You look like someone died,” Kevin observed when Juyeon smoked back into the nest.

“Younghoon said he loves me,” Juyeon told him.

“And that’s a bad thing?” Kevin raised an eyebrow.

“I was hoping he didn’t,” Juyeon’s shoulders slumped.

“Why would you be hoping that the human you’ve been all over for the past week doesn’t love you?” Kevin asked.

“Because then it wouldn’t feel so cruel when I ghost him,” Juyeon replied.

“Why can’t you just tell him it’s not gonna work out? Why do you have to be so cruel?” Kevin questioned.

“It’s better this way. It’s better to just cut it off completely. I know I’d try to make an impossible situation work and we’d both end up miserable. You should’ve seen his face when I mentioned turning. He was terrified. I know you want to see me coupled because you are, but I have to break his heart. I’d rather step out in the sun than do it, but I have to,” Juyeon explained. Juyeon’s phone went off in his jacket signaling a message from Younghoon. He already knew what it said.

“I’m sorry,” Kevin said and it actually sounded genuine.

“Me too,” Juyeon took his phone out and opened Younghoon’s contact. It took 300 years of strength to hit “block”. “I need to be alone now.”

“Okay,” Kevin nodded and left the room.

“I’m sorry Younghoon. I love you,” Juyeon whispered.

Ten days passed since Juyeon stopped responding. At first, Younghoon didn’t believe it, but every message he sent through turned green. The internet helpfully informed him that meant the other person had blocked him. Now he was sitting in the park across from his apartment building on the first warm day of spring feeling more alone than ever. He hadn’t even brought food like he always did. He hadn’t eaten much at all in the past 10 days. Maybe he never should’ve confessed. Maybe he should’ve agreed to be turned. A thousand different scenarios had run through his head that might result in Juyeon still in his life.

“Excuse me,” a voice brought Younghoon out of his misery. He looked up to see a man a few years younger than him looking down at him.

“Yes?” Younghoon asked.

“I’m totally lost. I was hoping you knew where Cafe Alsace is?” he asked.

“Not far, three blocks down on the corner,” Younghoon pointed.

“Thanks, I just moved here and I’m still getting my bearings. I’m Gyuvin, by the way,” the younger man held out his hand.

”Younghoon,” he shook it. Gyuvin looked at him like he was trying to figure something out about Younghoon.

”Do you want to join me for lunch? It’s a little lonely to be sitting here all by yourself, isn’t it?” Gyuvin asked.

”A bit,” Younghoon agreed. He was reminded of all the things he couldn’t do with Juyeon, like go out to lunch. Unless lunch was at midnight or the place was Vampire Friendly.

”So lunch?” Gyuvin smiled and held his hand out to help Younghoon up.

”Sure,” Younghoon took it and Gyuvin helped him up, bumping their chests together when Younghoon stood. Younghoon felt himself get flustered by the tall, handsome younger man holding onto his waist to steady him.

In the distance, Juyeon backed into the shadows knowing it was over.
