Eyes Cannot Lie

Summary:

He knew better than to trust this, but right now in the quiet, it was easier to pretend it was real. Even if it was a lie, even if it would all fall apart by morning, Chance let himself sink into the warmth, pretending it was enough. Because, in the end, wasn’t ITrapped all he had?

Or

A pair that was doomed from the beginning.

Chapter Text

Chance lightly knocks on the door, his voice soft.
"ITrapped..?"

There was no answer. Chance won't lie, he was really getting worried for him more and more as every day passed. He knew something was up, but ITrapped was never the kind of person to talk about it. Chance noticed the way he got less and less out of his room, refusing to talk to him. How he got mad so easily, snapping at him on multiple occasions. Gosh, only if he wasn't so stubborn, thinking he can take everything without getting help.

Chance sighs, deciding to quietly open the door. He carefully peaks in, almost managing to trip on his own foot.
And there he was. ITrapped, sitting in his chair. His body was curled up, as his head was resting on the expensive desk. His hair was messy, the crown laying in the corner of the table. There were visible eye bags under his eyes, not able to be hidden as his eyes were tightly shut closed.

"Oh god, you look like a mess.."
Chance murmurs, walking closer. There were too many papers messily spread across ITrapped's desk, yet one stood out the most. ITrapped's hand was clutching it like it was his lifeline, almost ripping it. Chance carefully leans closer to it, squinting his eyes as he reads through it. Yet with every sentence, the smile on his face slowly fades.

He knew ITrapped could talk quite vulgarly with his friends, insulting each other for fun. But this? This was serious. There wasn't a single hint of playfulness about it. And from what he understood, ITrapped messed up something pretty badly. And his two most important friends Ellernate and Caleb were not happy about it. Did they really want to leave him just like that..?

Chance sighs, taking off his coat, as he carefully wraps it around ITrapped's shoulders. He then gets ready to leave, carefully grabbing the door knob. Yet suddenly he grows hesitant as he remembers what was written in the letter. Was it even safe to leave him alone..?

Chance groans, hating himself for caring so much. He walks back to the table, staring at ITrapped for a few seconds in silence. He then gives up in his internal battle, carefully raising ITrapped's head, so he would be normally sitting. He's surprised he still hasn't woken up, but it kind of made sense with the eye bags under his eyes, exposing his sleepless nights.

He carefully puts his arms under his back and legs, successfully picking him up. Gosh, if ITrapped saw this, he would probably die of embarrassment. Chance chuckled, walking out of the office with ITrapped in his arms.
Hmm, he'll probably have to go to his room. ITrapped always closes his, and Chance refuses to search through his belongings. If ITrapped would find out, he would murder him.

He somehow manages to open the door, quietly walking in. He shuts it closed with his foot, laying ITrapped down on his bed. He raises the covers, wrapping them tightly around him. Oh well, looks like he's sleeping on the couch tonight. Yet as he gets up, he finds ITrapped's hand clutching his wrist in almost a painful grip.
"D..on't leave me..too"
He mumbles, visibly still unconscious.

Chance completely freezes, staring at him in silence. This felt so wrong, like he was seeing something he shouldn't. He knew how much ITrapped hated being vulnerable around others, always careful to hide everything. But now? He just looked so.. pitiful.
Chance let out a loud sigh, giving up. So what if ITrapped will beat him up tomorrow, this is worth it.

He slowly raises the covers, crawling into the bed beside ITrapped.
"I won't, don't worry."
He whispers as he caresses ITrapped's cheek. And that seems to be enough for ITrapped, as his body relaxes again, returning into a deep slumber. Chance doesn't even notice the smile on his lips, turning his back on ITrapped as he gets closer to the edge of the bed. But Chance's attempt to keep distance between them goes out of the window, as ITrapped pulls him closer, wrapping his arms around his waist. Oh god.. ITrapped is gonna murder me tomorrow..
Chance tries to ignore how his cheeks darken. Yet his eyelids start to feel heavy, the tiredness slowly dragging him into a deep sleep too. He doesn't try to resist it, feeling his consciousness slipping away.

ITrapped starts to slowly wake up, still not opening his eyes. Yet as he fully regains consciousness, his body freezes. He only remembers being in his office, so how did he get inside a bed? And that's the moment he registers the weight in front of him. He immediately opens his eyes, finding right under his face a silver, fluffy hair. Chance?!

And perhaps he would've already shoved him off the bed, if it wasn't for the fact that ITrapped was the one who was holding him close, Chance not even doing anything. Yet somehow, ITrapped starts feeling more and more angry with every second. He could take care of himself just fine, Chance was not supposed to see him like this.
ITrapped's hands start shaking, as he grips the fabric of Chance's clothes. He then takes a deep breath, slowly slipping his arms away from around Chance, successfully getting out of the bed.

As he opens the door to leave, he looks at Chance for the last time. He's still unconscious, but his eyebrows are furrowed as his hand is on the place where ITrapped was laying, seemingly searching for him.

It's been a few days, and ITrapped's been avoiding Chance like a plague. It was bad before too, but this? It's like being near Chance would kill him. But Chance never gives up that easily.

His hands move fast as he chops up the ingredients, the smell filling up the whole kitchen. He normally jokes about not being able to cook, but he actually enjoys it quite a lot. It manages to calm his nerves down, and at least he always gets a good meal from it.

When he's done he puts the plate on a tray, and carefully picks it up. Alright, perhaps ITrapped might just immediately smash it from his hands, but it's worth a try.

He finally arrives in front of ITrapped's office, staring at the door for a few seconds. Damn.. how am I gonna knock. But then he just kicks the door with his foot, almost losing his balance.

"ITrapped~, can I come in?"
Chance says in an annoying voice.

There's silence for a few seconds.
"...why."

"Alright, I'll take that as yes!"
Chance somehow manages to open the door, walking inside the office.

"Damn, you look horrible man."
Chance mutters, seeing the state ITrapped is in. The whole office was completely messy, and ITrapped was just sitting again in his leather chair, looking like he's gonna pass out any second.

"Get out."
ITrapped doesn't even raise his head from the paperwork. Yet the smell of the food gets his attention, looking up as Chance puts the tray on his table.

"Come on, you look like you're gonna die from starvation."
Chance sighs, plopping down on the chair in front of the table.

ITrapped just glares at him, pushing the tray away.
"I said get out."

"Not until you eat something."
Chance grins, leaning back.

"I SAID GET THE FUCK OUT!"
ITrapped stands up in rage, almost throwing the tray off the table.

Chance freezes for a second but immediately puts on his usual smile, trying to cover it up.
"Alright alright I am leaving, calm down man."
He gets up, quickly getting out of the office.

Chance sighs, sitting down on the floor next to the door. He'll just wait until ITrapped will leave his office. It's not like he is giving up that easily. But the minutes turn into hours, and Chance's eyelids start to feel more and more heavy, until he eventually falls asleep.
